Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

"Well its not great cuz it's school" That's a smart girl right there.
No, that's most kids that age
Ya
Always put your kids first. Time flies by without realizing and they are grown and moved out. Make as many memories as you can.
I'm just noticing that now my son's 11 an I'm 30 times flying lol
I use to say yeah right time is slow when I was younger but not now it's flying
Spend every moment you can with those beautiful children!!!
They'll be moved out and married b4 you know it!!!
God Bless You & Your Family Sir :-)
I love the time of year that Zach Johnson stops traveling the globe and starts to play the Farmer in Minnesota. Its kinda like Christmas. Lol
Yup. Looks like the producers hired him on for the role for another year! I think we're all happy about that :)
Uhm it is his farm he doesnt work for them they work for him
I remember dad changing the plates on a four row planter so he could go from corn to beans. Four row planter pulled with a 460 Farmall. Times have changed just a bit...
Seems like yesterday my daughters were that young. Unable to stop moving while their talking. 😂
Your kids have grown so much since I found your channel its unbelievable
Yeah i found it there where like 5? Known they look like there 10 or 9?
Like holy cow!
“It’s not great cause it’s school.” So true!
You can tell each kid loves to come home and see Dad after school!
Wow how things have changed since the 80s when I still farmed
I never.... NEVER comment on videos I watch. But watching you be a dad: a real dad was the high light for me.
After a long day, it was so great to see you and the little one playing. A daddy and his little girl made me smile. A nice example for dads everywhere.
Well Zach, its gonna be grey hair and graduation ceremonies sooner than you think. Now is when it goes real fast. Enjoy and cherish every moment with those sweet kids. Its almost playing in the dirt time!!! WooHoo!!!
What you should do is take a picture of it being correctly hooked up with hydraulics like the trippy farmer did so that next spring you will be able to have some sort of reference. Great video!
Look at his face light up when the planter unfolded. Nothing better than that.
I noticed a member of the security missing, how is Didg?
Come on Dad you know school is not cool!🤣
God bless you and your family.
Watching y'all work equipment is cool but watching you be dad is special
Awesome seeing you with your kids. Enjoy them when they are young. Time flies!
That 4 legged foreign exchange student seems to always follow you around.
😂😂
@@MillennialFarmer your daughter is hilarious
To organize the hoses we use the outback house identification system and it works great!!
Damn Son, your yell at the birds sounded Southern
When he said “yagayahya” at the begging 🤣🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂🤣 I LOVE This channel SOOOOO much and what you do
That what we say down here in on the dixie side of the USA
🤣🤣🤣😂😂
“But this hose you can’t screw up
Whoops screwed up” 🤣🤣
Zack,Thanks for the Birthday message, love watching you row crop farmers after spending my farming life in our 80 acres of apples, cherries and pears. we have so much hand labor your technology is really interestiing. O will follow you advice and listen to lily! thanks again
Hey Zach: This video PROVES Kids and Dogs are what makes life worth living. You’re a great Dad with an amazing family. You and Becky are special. Please keep these videos coming. Captain Al from Tampa😎
Zach, a new snowmobile is more effective than a new snowblower at reducing snowfall....
Got a 3 day Facebook ban yesterday, for ripping a new one to the guy who was chirping you for being "entitled and having everything given to you". Hope you guys appreciate fans dedication 🤣 keep up the awesome work Zack and family! Happy Easter. Cheers.
But it was worth it. He was creepy
It most certainly sounds like it was worth it. He still has to do the work on the farm, like taxes, planning, planting, keeping the snow from falling, very important things that require a lot of work
@@agent_bedrock5844 it definitely was. The guy was a nut job. Sounds like he was just envious of Zack's success.
Enjoyed seeing spring projects getting started. Zack you have 2 beautiful girls. Look forward to spring planting.
Good thing you have a Jim around to make sure you don’t screw things up to awfully bad.
At least Ana was there to help signal you with the planter on. You are always thinking one step ahead. Wish I had helper like that.
Everything I wanted to say was already mentioned. Your kids are getting so big and not as shy! Great to see them as part of your stories!
But......................... there’s enough time before planting to get a back story on Jim! Let’s get a move on it!
Always look forward to your videos!
My best to you and your wonderful family!
Thanks for allowing us to watch!
There is nothing, that brings a smile and warmth to the heart like hearing children's laughter. :) Any update on that "melting/burning" issue Zach? Another great vid thanks for sharing with us all. Be safe take care everyone
Maybe ya can color code the hoses and electrical lines. Then draw a chart and hang it on the wall next to the planter.
fine till you change tractors (which is the situation here) Then there is the new idea of electronic over hydraulic control where you can use the computer to change what a hose pair is doing.
@@wssides Don't change tractors!! 🤣
SOOO EXCITED YOU UPLOADED
Lol right I all get excited
Her giggles are priceless!!!
I like the comment about the snowblower, if you ever want to get a real lot of snow just sell your snowmobile works for me every time🙄
When I put equipment away for a while, I fill the diesel tanks to the brim. That prevents condensation and thus water in the fuel tank. I also treat the fuel with a diesel biozide that prevent those slodge building bugs in there. Saves money spent on fuel filters.
Sweet kids with a great Dad.
I miss when my kids were little enough that they couldn't hold still while telling me stories about their days.
“Were definitely going to have to keep an eye on that”
-leaves tractor
Well you can't stay in that seat all day lol. But that is a huge issue tho very sketchy
When I would come home from work I would sit in the recliner and let my two daughters get their 25000 word per day quota out, then my wife had to get her's out. I learned to listen.
Or learned to look like your listening? 🤔🤔
Good to see Jim
So I’m always talking about you to my next door neighbor Steve I help farm and we love you and the ending was just in point that deserves everyone to get you to 1million
hey zach thankyou for being a positive influence for ag! was watching you hook up planter and we have always struggled with that aswell so we started using zip ties to tie blank cattle ear tags to hoses then marked the tag with tag marker to match the correct plug in. ie. 1L, 1R, 3L, 3R, BR (bottom right) it makes it so much easier.
Spring! Everything growing and smelling fresh and new, things are exciting this time of year,
I actually love seeing you pet and appreciate the dogs. Nice vid.
A trick I use on the hoses: Zip-ties. The number of zip-ties is the remote number and zip-ties always on the left. Then you just pair the hoses together and you only have to figure it out once! :)
Nash, I do the same thing with zip ties, cheap an effective!
Color ties to match the remotes cover.
97.6% chance of 13/16" inch of rain sound a lot like Derek from Vice Grip Garage. (great!)
Put a pipe and drain valve in the bottom of the wall around your fuel tank area . When it gets flooded open the valve to drain it then close it to catch any spill. That is how we do it in the refineries.
Can you do a machinery tour and tell us what your track spacing is so we can replicate it on your farm sim map!
Nothing beats the unconditional love of animals. Especially since they don't even speak the same language...
Use coloured cable ties on your oil hoses. Single on pressure and double on return. And use colours that match your spool valves. Makes it easy to hook them up!
That planter folding up reminded me of that cartoon we watched as kids. Transformers
Where's Didge? Can't believe the two doggo's weren't playing around the whole time.
I was thinking the same thing she is almost always there too
I fear Didge is not with us
I got on the comments to ask the same thing.
Yes, first thing I noticed was no Didge. Don't think I've ever seen Anna with Didge.
Was just thinking the same thing
It seems like everyone else is rebuilding their equipment to. Nice to see you're on board to..
Yea larson farms went to high speed too
Why anyone can "thumbs down" what farmers do for this world is beyond me. Zach its awesome when you showcase other farm operations. How about exploring Poplar Hill Dairy Goat Farm ?? Its a beautiful family run farm located in your home state in Scandia, MN. Think your viewers and your kids would love it !!
it's a good thing Jim is there to show you how to put it all together.
“Hip go on now youngin yong a hong” the new language of millennial farmer.
Glad to see you guys back!👍
Sooooo much wiring and pipe work with those planters. Wow. 👍🇬🇧🇺🇸
Well at least it’s a good sign that whatever the new purchase is, it’s coming from the green store!
It takes a half a day to put all those lines and cables in the correct spot. I SUBSCRIBE AND LIKE because I like to eat and my two late grandfathers were both farmers.
“Big rubber liner” - that’s what she said.
Zach you should consider building stands for the fuel tanks so that they stay up out of the water and don't rust.
Good luck with rebuilding the planter can't wait till we see you out in the fields planting
She is so beautiful how precious she is
You always give Me a laugh 😂. That's how I talk to those pesky black birds. 🤣😂
We got our planter ready on Monday. We finished it up a hour before the wind & dust kicked in. That was quite the temperature change from Monday when it was in the mid 70's & Tuesday & Wednesday it was only in the low 30's. Looking forward to starting spring planting season.
Two things...
1) We are all curious what was going on with the melting controls. Please keep us updated.
2) Turkey Deluxe Burger w/ Onion Rings = happy tummy = happy farmer.
Thanks for all that you do. Looking forward to planting 2021!!
Everybody is doing these high speed upgrades. I wonder if they would fit on my 4 row JD 7000 planter?😀
Atleast they make upgrades for your planter. I have a deutz 385 planter.... No upgrades available
Well that's like seeing if my floppy disc of Oregon trail will work on my new I phone.😎 Just have to believe
@@robertthoma5430 lol with the right attachments you may be able to make that work.
As for the high speed. You would just have to buy the row units and a ccs and vac system and and and. Then you'd have a one of a kind 4 row high speed 7000. Sounds awesome to me
13/16 of an inch of rain, love it
I'm in the same boat, with kids everywhere. My efficiency suffers but I wouldn't change it for anything
Still in love with that green puppy sitting there next to the planter🤩
"Its a good thing you play hockey instead of basketball" 😂
20 therapy sessions right there :)
Great job Zackp by keeping everything ready for harvest season!
I live in NC. Bought an ergonomic snow shovel in last October. Kept the snow away.
Thanks, Zach & Becky. Y'all's kids are growing so fast; especially Ila. Her temp tattoo is/was neat. I've been watching Brian, Bob & BJ in Ohio working on their planters; so I'm ready to watch y'all too. I sure hope your Dad's knees will be so much better this year! These late model planters are so amazing at the moves they make.
your baby is so pretty buddy , God has blessed u truly !
Colored zip ties to match the scv’s and double up for the right side of them is the easiest way we’ve found
Your kids don’t know how lucky they are to grow up on a farm. They get to hang out with dad. Play outside without having to watch over them.
Not to mention that they’re going a ton of hands on learning
yeah, i didnt grow up on a farm and i have to go to college to even think about working on a farm (in my case)
edit: but im still greatful i have the oopurtinity to get into farming, and look forward to see what my future could hold
That life would be my dream.
@@Jonathan_From_TT And there's perhaps the reason for the "well it not great cuz it's school" comment. Teachers have a nearly impossible job. But it's not all on them. We need to find ways to teach kids the who, what, where, when, why, and how of life while actually doing it. There has to be a better way. . .
That's why I've chosen to live out in the country, for my kids. I grow up on the country side riding dirt bikes and building tree houses and now my kids do the same. City life isn't for everyone 😊
always great to see the kids the dogs AND JIM!
Zach you don’t understand how much you have inspired me. You are the one who inspired me to find a job on a farm myself. You have taught me a lot about farming over the years I have been watching you. I live the videos and the jokes. Wish all goes well this planting season.
Damn! You need to be an MIT grad to hook up a planter now a days!
Made comment about loading them onto trailers, they also had me running all those hydraulic lines down the wing tubes, a lot of lube and pushing.
“Well it’s not great cause it’s school” 😂
Same thing happened to us, bought a nice three point blower, it snowed that winter. Never needed to use it again lol
Thanks Zach for the new video. Spring is coming and time to update your planter. From what you have told us and the parts in those boxes, a big job ahead to complete this project. Wow. You and Jim can knock it out I am sure. Will be a great planter when you are done with the project. Anxious to see the new b
Hit button too soon. Anxious to see your new purchase!!!! Spring is coming, get er done. Thanks for your time Zach on doing the video. Thanks to Becky for editing. You all take care. Ready for next video. Sending two comments. Iowa farm boy from years ago.
I want a Jim cam this year.
Put it in every video It will happen at some point
Zach- Looks like Jim killed the truck
Also Zach- I knew the battery was a little low when I parked it there... 😂😂😂
Good to see you back in the shop it’s been a long winter great video 👍👍
Glad to see work going on again. Hope the new purchase is going to be a great addition.
God do I miss when my three children were little like your kids. I guess in the next ten-fifteen years I could be a Grandfather and start again. :-)
Almost done drilling our 500 acres of barley 👍 Probably gonna finish today.
Edit: On our last field right now. Only a few acres to go! Then on to beets :/
Nice!!! Good for you!!! Hope a smooth planting season!!!
@@theslashmanrc7503 Thank you! We bought a new-to-us beet digger, defoilator, and pivot just this year
@@alexbaker2669 nice!
Nice!
That was the best use of def fluid. Hold the basket ball hoop down!👍
Looking good. Going to have to make an updated equipment tour again
“I guess there is only one important thing left to do....”
“Hey Chris can I get a turkey deluxe burger”😂😂
Lol
Hey now he said don’t judge him!
@@kylenorris6885 I would never judge a man and his priorities..
bacon cheeseburger baskets.
Oh God I hope not a turkey burger
Gotta be a dang electrical engineer to get the planters hooked up nowadays.
When I started out as an electrician, we had small zip ties with a little Flag on them, you could use them to mark cables with. You could write the names of the hydraulic hoses on them so you'll never mix them up again 😄
Love watching your videos after working all day, great way to relax. Always wanted to be a farmer, so interesting and enjoyable. Thanks!
Zach : you can’t screw up with this one
Also Zach:Woops I screwed up
You yelling at the birds made me like the video lol
Wonderful video, enjoy seeing Jim and the planter project getting underway. Hopefully the next video has a finger snap or a montag.
Very nice to see you with you kids.
