Even trying to replace the belt on that pink dress looks iffy with how thin I think those belt loops look. I went shopping with my mom today for the first time in a while at a regular store and I was so bummed by how expensive but cheaply made everything was. We ended up at a thrift store instead because it’s such a better experience for me and I ended up finding more items I liked and didn’t have to pay full price. Your videos have helped inform me even more on the small details that can make a world of difference in my opinion😁
The belt loops on the coral dress look easy to remove. Normally if I get a dress with those kind of belt loops, I just snip them off and belt it higher since I have a shorter torso.
I work with vintage clothing, and back then they actually made proper belts, with backing, and buckles and everything in the same fabric as the garment, to get the same effect, but stop it from being a crumbly mess
I always have replaced these as well! Invest into 3-4 skinny leather belts with one being black, another brown/beige and a vibrant colour. And voila! So many dresses look classy!! 😍
Hm… I guess I’ve never had a problem with these belts because I just iron them and they typically maintain their shape once they’ve been pressed. But maybe in that case, the belts weren’t actually like these belts but instead, just items that were left tied for too long in display rather than a quality thing.
With some designs especially in certain coats I like soft belting. I detest them on dresses if they are wider than tagliatelle pasta and there is no point of them on pants for my personal style. I know rope "belts" are back in style on jeans.
Yeah, you’re right, crumply belts are so annoying. But if I love the design of the item then I just buy it anyway (but I’m trying to shop less so let’s see).
For me, shopping at fast fashion stores like Zara or Pull & Bear had become the strange thing to do. People feel weird when they go into a department store or other designer stores because they feel like they don’t belong and that’s me with cheaply made expensive crap. I rather buy less, but it be high quality.
I just remove the belt from any clothing and hand wash it to avoid this issue rather than throwing it into the wash with the rest of the garment. I love a good belt, even if it was just used to cut corners 😂
ugh i dont like these belts. i always have to separately iron them and somehow after every wear, they still get crumpled. i either use a different material or get a custom belt made. also, sometimes they get lost in the wash.
Yes, but the moment you put it on it’s gonna start to wrinkle, sag and lose its shape. It’s about the durability and how it holds up with regular wear. I agree with her and I hate those kind of belts for that reason, but I don’t really like belts in general and I don’t like the idea of belting dresses most of the time. But if you wanna still wear one it’s an easy fix because like she said you can just replace the fabric belt for whatever belt you own already and it’s a better look.
The best thing to avoid to elevate your wardrobe is garments made in China and contributing to the Uighur concentration camps used for clothing manufacturing. Easy to do, BIG payoff. So much more meaningful than avoiding crumply belts.
You should avoid buying anything that comes with an accessory attached. It’s the manufacturer’s way of adding value to a cheap garment. Even your “good” examples look cheap and tacky

I HATE these, I always have. When I was in school I used those belts as a ribbon in my hair instead!
Ah, so we all did that? 😂😂
Stopp that's so smart, I'm gonna do that for when I go out

I hate how they fold and turn into basically a thick piece of string no matter how loose you tied it.☹️

I like the emphasis lol

I have a few outfits like this in silk, I just steam the outfit prior to wear and it removes any wrinkles.

I know what to avoid, could you tell us more about what to buy?
Can you do a men’s edition? I love the way you talk about quality in clothing
I iron them after washing same as the dress...not much more work...does nobody here iron their clothing????😮😳😲
yep, then hang it around the top of the hanger rather than in the belt loops so it stays ironed

Thank you for this ❤
I dabble in sewing, so I really liked the piece and wanted to keep the original belt I would reinforce it myself.
Interfacing inside a belt to keep it stiff or firmer isn't hard.
Unpicking, then adding interfacing and resewing is sometimes the only answer.
I found a trenchcoat that wasn't bad at all except the belt was lazy so I just got rid of ot and use it with only the buttons.

I hate those belts too! I prefer a dress that cinches in on its own where needed
You can iron that belt, ironing usually makes clothes look more put together, if not more expensive.

Do a Burlington video.
Love this topic ❤
Nah, belts on coats are cool af. Besides, who even washes their coat often enough that this is a concern? Most of mine allow dry cleaning only anyway

I was looking at that oak brand. I think former military seamstresses should give video tutorials and maybe design a brand or two to that mess
Or you use doublesided vlieseline to stiffen the belt and sew it firmly.
A little interfacing could of helped here also
Figures, I just ordered a linen combo something skirt with a tie waist 😂
You can also starch and iron the belt ....
I bet that white dress with braided belt is from Zara. I can’t decide whether to buy it or skip it.
I iron these after I wash them so they aren’t a crumply mess……
I have a really pretty jacket with a belt like that and i have to iron it every few wears or it does look cheap & terrible 😂
please can you review aerie
U can just iron the belt no ? lol

just iron them after washing?????
Yeah don’t like those thin belts 😫
Where was the white dress with braided built from?
I replace the belt with a woven leather belt.

String him definitely
You know you can change belt. Like get it out and use something else

Why would you need to wash the belt
I hate these fucking belts
