Oh yes 💙🎶😢
Thank you for sharing information 🌹
Yes to two of the best. I miss them so much ❤️🎤🎹
Yes RAa
Nanci Griffith is one of the reasons why I absolutely despise mainstream radio. They have never gave her music any attention.
I hadn’t planned on crying today, but I have loved this fine woman for decades, and now we are diminished as a people even further. God save us, without John and Nancy. What are we suppose to do now?
Get a grip 🙄
I guess learn from them!
George Jones sang a song that has never been more relevant, "Whose Gonna Fill Their Shoes". Having listened to some of the music (I use the term loosely) that is being produced today, the answer is no one. But at least we have been left the legacy of Nancy's music and others like her.
I’m crying in my coffee 🥰
I just recently discovered her and for some strange reason this song gets me teary eyed!
I fear that the speed of the sound of loneliness is upon us more than ever now.
arguablyrightorwrong.. sadly true..
I imagine John Prine greeted her with a tuned guitar, and they immediately got down to business:)
If everyone would listen to and appreciate the quality of music, the world would be a better place.
WHEN IT IS COLD AND THE BLIZZARD YESTERDAY I LISTEN TO JOHN PRINE AND IT WARMS MY HEART ADD NANCI GRIFFITH AND IT JUST MELTS INTO PURE CONTENTMENT
An outstanding version of the great John Prine song..R.I.P. John and Nanci.
RIP Nanci, a sublime talent , she has a huge following in Ireland thanks to two wonderful larger than life figures who also are no longer with us, Philip Donnelly and John Prine. RIP you three greats , be together in music and song , although it's far far too early for the gorgeous Nanci to have to leave us mourning her . 💚❤️☘️☘️☘️🇮🇪
Amen and amen
Miss her so much listening to this haunting voice, makes me saddddd!
So sad to hear she passed away, All my love from County Tipperary, Ireland
I wish words could say.

Now our world is filled with zeroes
A bleak and melancholy gray.
We lost one of our singing heroes
Nanci Griffith passed away.
I first heard this by John Prine! She sings it so beautifully! I miss John too!! 😢😢
Crying tonight. John Prine last year, Nancy today. I hate getting old.
This beautiful Texas Lady should be in the country hall of fame!
And wink at the boys at the back of the bus, I wish I could of seen her live ❤❤
Just devasted to hear the sad news today. A lady,a beautiful soul and huge talent. From Ireland ☘
Ireland was her second home..and for John also...
@@danwebb4418 Hi Dermot,Yes it was obvious Ireland had a place in Miss Nanci's heart. Im still so saddened by her passing. What a few years it has been. ☘
Yes xx A lady. And a beautiful soul - go maire sí i ngcliabhán Dé, go deo 'is go deo.
(google mis-translated the Irish blessing i quoted: "i ngcliabhán Dé" means, literally "in God's basket" and figuratively it means "God's cradle, i.e.baby Jesus' cradle" it is a heartfelt prayer, from the sender, asking God to keep Nanci close and lovingly cared-for: "may she spend eternity as close to God as a baby in its cradle is loved by its parents." I only learned Irish as a second language, in primary school; i was young enough to pick up the subtle meanings but am not bilingual. I am sure you will understand i did noy mean anything offensive, and i apologize if i used the wrong words to express a blessing that is really best-used by a native speaker. Nanci deserves the best ❤️ xx
How did she pas?. WOW What a talent. RIP
Now at the age of 73, and now all alone, i came across John Prine music , a few years ago, and never stopped listening to it since. If you listen to every word in his songs, it will bring back in your memory things that has happen in your life.. Specially this song, Nanci version is beautiful, i am John would agree, if he was still with us... RIP the both of them, both sadly missed..
Me to I’m 70 found John prime 5-6 yrs ago
We all have memories , some happy & some sad ! Memory is the diary that we all carry around with us .
She was always so happy
I've been playing n singing John Prine songs since the 70's always a crowd pleaser
Rest in peace, Nanci. Tell John that we said hello
I found her music in 1993 just leaving for Australia to migrate. I went into a shop in Inverness and this was playing. On the strength of that I bought the album and still 30 years later listen to those same songs every week. I never get tired of them and always find a new meaning on each and every time I hear them.
What a talent she had.
R.I.P Nansi 💖
*Nanci
@@JasonNation72 Im very sad
@@JasonNation72 Thanks :)
WE ALL DEAD.....ALOHA NANCI!!!! EXCELLENT JOB11!!!!!
Unfortunately I caught up a little late to Nanci's astonishing talent. She has a spirit about her which is heavy as molasses, pure as fallen rain and bright as a noonday sun. Her lyrics speak with a wisdom from the heart and a first hand love of words. She will be deeply missed and not replaced. I am sorry for us all at her passing.
Very well put!
Me too. It's so damn hard to fall in love with someone after they've gone on.
Just heard the news about the charming beautiful nanci who passed away today.so I'm listening under a sky full of stars in the south of france on the certain knowledge she's joined them.Thank you for this and many others
Rest in peace Nanci. Thank you.
I don’t know how much more my heart can take All these talented wonderful beautiful singers who made my mind light up with imagination are leaving for a better place and I’m getting so lonely
I know I cried when I heard. Maybe her and John and the rest are teaming up with the rest of the angels who left us, to help us down here. We need it.
All the beauty is leaving us down here I can’t wait to get up there to the greatest concert ever!
I'm also from Austin. 2 years her junior. I remember her playing Thursdays at the Hole in the Wall. I also remember the Woolworth's on Congress she wrote about Love at the 5 and dime. She'll live on through her music. Thanks again Ms. Griffith.
“When you can’t find a friend, you’ve still got your radio…”
@@lindaellis2265 Music is a companion, a comfort, a salve, an inspiration, a joy, and an exhilarating tonic...
R.I.P. Nanci, your music and personality will forever shine
The world has lost a great singer, poet, musician, and a beautiful soul ❤.
Amazing singer I just love this song thank youb
Not too many people have their finger on the pulse of humanity as does John Prine. He puts a human face on every topic he undertakes.
doesn't matter who covers Johns music it tugs at the old heart every time.
Wow, so poetically and brilliantly said. So true.
don't be so dramatic
True that
A loss of an American treasure!
RIP Nancy..You were a lovely and talented woman
This one really hurts. Blessings on your travels into the great beyond.
This lady had a million man's hearts in the palm of her voice.
Damn good shit Mike
A few 1,000 women too.
She has mine many years.
Well put!
And her gorgeous smile.
RIP Nanci. Beautiful singer, so humble and a beautiful soul. Condolences to her family and friends.
Loved her music
You come home late and you come home early
You come on big when you're feeling small
You come home straight and you come home curly
Sometimes you don't come home at all
So what in the world's come over you?
And what in heaven's name have you done?
You've broken the speed of the sound of loneliness
You're out there running just to be on the run
Well I got a heart that burns with a fever
And I got a worried and a jealous mind
How can a love that'll last forever
Get left so far behind
What in the world's come over you?
And what in heaven's name have you done?
You've broken the speed of the sound of loneliness
You're out there running just to be on the run
It's a mighty mean and a dreadful sorrow
It's crossed the evil line today
Well, how can you ask about tomorrow
We ain't got one word to say
So what in the world's come over you?
And what in heaven's name have you done?
You've broken the speed of the sound of loneliness
You're out there running just to be on the run
You're out there running just to be on the run
You're out there running just to be on the run
I love this song! This is such a good song for our present times. One of the best singers in our generation. Thank you Nanci.
My late father loved this song xx
Rest in peace Nancy, It feels like I have just lost one of my best friends tonight!
Voice of an Angel, now singing with the Angels!! ❤️❤️❤️🎼💔
You always touched my heart❣️
😢😢
I’m trying to stay off the drink but I’m now,on the spirits and listening to this on repeat…love you Nancy, and band, and the lovely backing female singer and the amazing old dude on the keyboard
So sad to learn of Nancy’s passing love her music May she Rest In Peace
OMG !!!what in the world was Better for Music than John Prine & Nanci Griffith!!!!,💚❤️💙🎶😃🥰
First time I ever heard or saw Nanci Griffith I was on CQ duty (Army) at Fort Bragg, NC, back in the mid-80s. The ACQ had his TV and we were watching some wee hours music show. This pretty little long-haired gal sang "Once in a Very Blue Moon." I was hooked right then and there. Still a favorite song of mine. When just my dog and I drove out of Alaska, to Arkansas and eventually ending up at Fort Drum, NY, Nanci's music played on the truck's stereo for many, many miles of that long trip. Her music kept me company in a few failing relationships along the way as well. I wrote this poem listening to her music back in 1994. It's long, but I'll leave it as a tribute.
Hot Chocolate and Nanci Griffith © 1994 by me.
Acoustic guitar plays
and her voice sings to my heart.
Fall is cold and I like it much.
I love the lonesome
in her voice.
And Nanci sings it too,
pouring from the headphones,
connected to my heart and soul.
Hot chocolate sits
in the cup by my hand.
Soft brown, it is warm
and I like it much.
I love the sweetness
in the warmth.
And the warmth is good,
dancing over my tongue,
warming my heart and soul.
And me, I sit
in a house, not alone.
Surrounding me, the songs sing
and I like it much.
I love the lonely and
how it takes me away.
And my heart cries its tears,
wishing for distant roads
and rainy nights.
Will the courage
ever come.
The courage to be true,
honestly true to myself?
Sing a little longer.
Keep the chocolate warm
a little longer.
Maybe, maybe I can be
just a little stronger.
That’s so beautiful.
Wow. I had forgotten I posted that. Thank you.
Luckily I ran across her on Austin City Limits and fell in love with her. The duet with Darius Rucker was amazing. She and Eddie singing Tecumseh Valley was amazing. Highway 90 touched my heart as I've just lost my husband who worked on Alaska Coast platforms of Cook Inlet. What an amazing experience.
R.I.P. Nancy, sadly missed
Fly high Nanci. RIP
Life without music would be a dark place. Peace
Nietzsche said that and he was a man of war so music even creates agreement between pacifists and lovers of battle
Life without John Prine would be a darker place. Get well John!!
Music can inspire both evil and good hopefully good will prevail
Peace to you, brother.
Raymond LaBay Oh yeah. It's gettin me through. Playin and listening a lot lately
Heartbreaking news that such a beautiful person has left us.... safe journey home Nanci..... from your forever friends in Dublin Ireland......
This is one of John Prine's many masterpieces. Thank you for posting Nanci's version. It really is a beautiful song.
❤️❤️
It's one of my favorite songs of John's. Who am I kidding, they are all my favorites. But this one IS special.
One of the most beautiful and incredible songs ever written and performed. Biblical.
Epic.
FOR THE MANY YEARS OF YOUR GIFT OF LOVE ,WE REMEMBER YOU ,WONDERFUL NANCI, LOVE IS FOREVER VICCHRISTIAN
Nanci, I will never forget our time together in Sweden!
So sorry to hear the sad news today. What a sweet artist has left us too soon. RIP Nanci.
Lovely talented Nanci may have left the stage but what a musical legacy with superb performance's and songs just like this one .Rest Easy RIP ✨🎶🕊️☘️
Back in the 60s I used to hang out with Pat McInerney. In 1966 I was with him and a group of friends when we went to see Cream at the Hemel Hempstead Pavilion. The last time I went there, just before the building was demolished, was Nancy Griffith and he was on drums.
Damm, that is why there is so much rain these days. The angels are weeping in sadness for our loss as well as for joy at their gain. I hope Nancy that you get time to meet and greet all your friends that have gone on before you. 💖💖
I was fortunate enough to see Nanci in concert twice, and those evenings were more magical than I can say. I will miss her forever. There were days and nights when she was truly all that saved me. I wore her "Flyer" album out twice and gifted it to friends over and over. I own all her music, and I can't recommend another songbird more highly. God love her. Thank you, Nanci. Thank you especially for "Late Night Grand Hotel." Thank you for making me laugh, and thank you for making me cry. Thank you for being there when no one else could even begin to understand. There's a light beyond these woods. I know that you will go there and see what you can find.❤
Beautiful ❤️ poetic words xx i think Nanci will smile for all her friends who mourn her, she has inspired others to poetry, and taught us all we can "bring out of what is in us" when we are heartbroken 💔 when we feel nobody NOBODY could possibly understand.. We can listen to Nanci. Be it her own composition or that of another, she puts herself into it ❤️ and suddenly our tears are jewels... we are thinking of you, Nanci xx more than a beautiful songbird, more than a broken heart xx Nanci the ways of God are far beyond our understanding xx but He has a place for you, Nanci, just as He had a place for you on Earth. You remain a friend to so many of us, Rest in Peace dear Nanci xx mol xx
Gotta remember the things we leave, especially those things like art or music, never die, are immortal….RIP Nancy & John.
such a lovely child of God he has her now, but she left us this this.
May her memory be a blessing! What a joy she gave us!
Very sad to hear of Nanci's passing, my childhood home was full of her music. My parents went to see her in concert a few times here in Belfast - she was one of the few big international artists who still came here during "The Troubles" and her fans here loved her for that, and her wonderful music too obviously.
My Father passed away last year, Nanci and John Prine were 2 of his favourite artists, I hope they're puting on a private gig for him somewhere.
R.I.P Nanci
Ar dheis Dè go raibh a hanam dìlis...

I would have never heard of Nancy if it was not for John. Makes me wonder how many other treasures I have missed and where you find them? RIP Nancy, thank you.
Only found out that Nanci has passed away this year. Such a clear and beautiful voice.
Such a terrible loss. A beautiful voice, a beautiful soul and as I listen to this song, eyes full of tears, Nanci was a beautiful person.... God bless her.

She has the most adorable little smirk!
I am truly heart broken. Nanci introduced me to the music of John Prine. I saw her many times in concert. We have lost a wee gem of music xxx
What a delightful and gracious person she was. See you on the next ray of light. RIP
I am so sad Nanci is gone. I know there are many like me who will carry her songs and spirit forward. She is gone but still with us. RIP
i used to think that her music video version of Boots of Spanish Leather was her best ever song, but this right here is without a doubt her best performance.
Tecumsa valley is one of her best me thinks, such a sad story.
R.I.P Nanci ...tonight in the aether will be two beautiful angels singing their hearts out ✨💜🎶🎵🎤
This woman had such a beautiful smile. My deepest condolences to her family.
R.I.P Nanci, a beautiful lady with a voice that talked to your soul.
How did SO many years get past me(62) without finding Nanci Griffith? Such a treat to find her on utube about a year ago. I see the older takes, & without a doubt-, she sings TO ME. Touches my heart & warms my soul to see the smiles & hear the voice & gifts that her & her accompanying musicians. I can only wish I would have found her way back when, but, I will certainly treasure this time forward. Thank you Ms Griffith, for sharing the gift with the world.

So sad to hear of this beautiful singer/songwriter passing, always inspired me to write R I P nanci x
Nobody will ever sing this quite as sweetly- said through the tears of an old man who will forever love you.
She was second to none in the leagues of great singer songwriter performers. Unique top notch vocals just like Emmylou and Alison Krauss.
It's a dreadful sorrow...rest, Nanci and thank you.
I learned this song after I’d heard Nanci’s version. She’s one of a kind. Love her!
RIP beautiful song bird! So many good memories of your music !
What sad news to hear the passing of Nanci Griffith, my first real introduction to country music many moons ago. Enjoyed some great concerts in Glasgow🏴. The world has become a sadder place now that Nanci has taken up her wings RIP...
I managed to see Nanci twice in my life, both times at York (UK) What a woman. She holds a part of my heart forever...❤❤❤❤
