I came across Nanci 34 years ago and find, like many others apparently do, that she lays bare the blessings I’ve received over the long road of my life. Thank you Nanci.
Nanci was a National Treasure🇺🇸It seemed few people knew that, those that did were musicians, writers, true artists that knew the best music...She was a unbelievable talent who was married to Eric Taylor, another great song-writer, look him up as well...Nanci was a legend, too bad Nashville never really picked up on that...I cried the day I heard, she was so sweet and sensitive, a truly beautiful human being...Rest Easy Nanci
Now that I listen to this song my eyes get wet with loneliness by her passing, she was someone sensitive, deep and kind....these qualities reflected on her visage.
I don't care what critics or the media say...You and I and thousands and thousands and thousands of other people know what an incredible talent was she! I am now rediscovering her vast catalogue of great songs.
How does a guy from The Bronx fall for the music of such a delicate flower from Austin, Tx? Nanci's combination of musical sensitivity, intelligence, and courage to not be bullied into conforming to industry demands proved as irresistible as her crystalline voice. Thank-You, Nanci, for being such a blessing.
Im Bronx born and left Long Island many moons ago...lived in the West, Florida, now Ohio and I fell like a rock for Nanci when I bought her Flyer album. I agree w everything you said....she's pretty, cute, adorable all at the same time but although smiling, I always sensed a perpetual broken heart and a yearning unfulfilled. Broke my heart...again...when she passed.
I'm sad that I had never heard of her before last night, and only because I was listening to John Prine and happened upon their duet. But I won't forget her now that I know. ❤
The test of a true talent is seeing them in concert and they sound just as good as the recording. Zero studio enhancement. I was privileged to see he in concert 4 times and loved every one. Nanci’s talent as a song writer was a great as her voice. So incredibly sad she is gone but thank goodness her music will live on forever.
Saw Nanci in concert in Liverpool U.K about 15-20yrs ago.Was encouraged to go by local DJ who spoke highly of her.Have since purchased numerous cd,s and play her music frequently.Sad to learn of her death, what a lovely person. Thanks Nanci RIP John 78yrs. L
I was unaware that Nanci had passed away till just now, so shocked, a lovely lady and a beautiful voice. I grew up with her astounding songs, R.I.P. Nanci.
I heard "It's a Hard Life " on the radio many moons ago and my poor kids can now sing every lyric she ever wrote. I missed the news of her death until a couple of months afterward and I thought I would have felt the earth quake with such a loss. I play your golden voice almost daily and probably always will.
She tugged at my musical heart when I worked at a Country music station in Penticton BC, Canada back in the early 90's. First heard and saw her on 'Sunday Night' aka 'Night Music' in the late 80's with 'A Hard Life Wherever You Go'. Broke down crying. I felt honest emotion with her heartfelt music. Thank You and Rest In Peace, Nanci Griffith.
Found her around 1985 and made cassette copies of the albums I bought to play in the car on my commutes. Wore those things out singing along. Shared with so many friends. She was just a year younger than I. Broke my heart to lose her.
Heard her first in 1984 at the Cactus Cafe, a little dive on the drag in Austin. Loved her since the first song. Tiny woman with a huge heart, huge voice, and huge hole in the world now that’s she gone. I’ve missed her every day since she’s been gone.
Oh my oh my! - This little set was full of all the Nanci voice tricks and accents from all over - Made me feel really sad but totally absorbing at the same time - Thank you so much for posting this gem - John (UK)
I am 63 and just now discovered her! It's the music industry that chooses who'll be heard. Music today is disgusting at best. The real music doesn't get much of a chance that is until today with the internet.
I did not know that my lovely Nanci Griffith had passed away ): How did I not know this? I just love her so much! I have everything she ever recorded. Just adored her. Feeling sad, came online specifically to hear "On Grafton Street", which has been on my mind all day long... found my way here too.
Whilst reminiscing watching past NG videos on YT: I decided to check out her status on Wikipedia. I was truly saddened to learn she had passed nearly a year to the day. I don't recall it being reported in the UK media. I was fortunate to see her in concert a few times in the 1990s. Long live her style of music.
Yeah…. Like you I just needed a Nanci Griffith fix and just now found out she has left us. Sad. My wife and I became fans of Nanci in the 80‘s and still listen to our recordings of her regularly. We loved Kate Wolf too and now they can sing a duet together in heaven 😢.
@@bradsmith5492 I will check out Kate Wolf. This is someone I am unfamiliar with. (via Wikipedia) Another talent cut short. Best wishes to you both: Freeman Griffin & Brad Smith 💔🎵
well i already know that one Jonny Cash song, my only one of his i always have memorized 100%. so now i just need to finish working up those other three Nanci songs into my repertoire and i can then replicate this set
I love this woman. I don’t get the pin it seems to change. Real people there wish I knew her but being a Canadian we or I did not hear of her. Never to late ..
The pin is a campaign pin for LBJ's presidential campaign. LBJ was from Texas near Austin. He's the president who signed the Civil Rights legislation in the 1960s. LBJ has been somewhat controversial, but Nanci always wore the button because of his work for Civil Rights.

I knew Nanci & Eric back in the old days. Nance was a sublimely talented performer & writer. Eric was a scorchingly gifted poet/songwriter.
The people Nashville "passed" on could fill a Hall of Fame of its own.
I cried too. She's sweetness personified. 🌺 Rest easy sweet sister..

Maybe that guy from The Bronx has really good taste....
@@bigmon1 Sweet thought, for Nanci...Thanks, Laura
The Guy from the Bronx, was blessed when he discovered this beautiful ❤️ soul! I know she is finally home! New Orleans is listening!

I hope she has had and has heard of these accolades during her life, so very true.

I was at that show. I remember it well. She had a voice that could touch your soul She will be missed but her music will live on forever. RIP NANCI !
The world lost a bright light and gained an angel. RIP Nanci.

Having just listened to Flyer, I was thinking the same.
May Nanci sing with the Angels now.....what a wonderful soul the world has lost.

I feel I have lost my best friend. Thank you for you music Nanci!
I was unaware that Nanci had passed away till just now, so shocked, a lovely lady and a beautiful voice. I grew up with her astounding songs, R.I.P. Nanci.
She was an angel. Misunderstood in our state. Texas, a place that she praised her entire career. There will never be another like her!
New one to me. What a treasure. Forty-five and at the top of her game. There is only one Nanci Griffith.

The absolute BEST. All of her songs are soaked with my memories. ❤️
You got that right, G.B.

Yes are Nanci s versions are much appreciated!! She truly is a great song writer. I'm 💯 percent sure, Nanci is still writing & singing songs...🎶 🙏

Her starting with a Prine song literally gave me goosebumps.

Love always, Nanci. Thank you Sam for your help.
She helped me get through the 90s.
Remember her just starting out,RIP... Fantastic.
Her greatest gift to us was in giving us hope within the saddest that we will be okay.
Awesome. Thanks for posting this.
You know how Great she is when one has to go to the bathroom (me) you don't want to miss any SECOND of her Concert !!!!😢😊❤
Nancy was a liberal. But she was a Texan first. That makes all the difference in my book. Gosh, I miss you.
Given recent events, I’m ashamed to be from Texas.
miss u Nanci
The woman with the Dreadnought guitar, is that Lee Satterfield?
Yes,,,,it is Lee Satterfield
Yeah it is!
Complete show, please???

Christmas trees in June?
It's in the mountains. In Colorado. It's kind of the vibe there, natural ambiance, you know?
Is the female member of the blue moon orchestra Maura Kennedy?
It’s Lee Satterfield
LBJ?
Lyndon Baines Johnson? 36th President of the USA? Maybe he was mentioned some time in a history class during school?
The fact I can still sing like a Freeman when this angel presents...wow..Jesus is GREAT
