- In this video I'm doing lots of handling mods to my cheap Volvo V70R. Sway bars, subframe bushings, control arms and more!

Forever grateful to the YT algorithm for recommending me your channel, love the production and the "garage build" vibes
same
Thank you
@@wheelemverb super binge-able content! now we only need playlists to make binging easier.
Same! Never heard of wheelemverb and never looked up anything close to Volvo but here we are, really enjoying the content.
As a Volvo mechanic living in rustbelt Belgium, my jaw dropped when those outer tie rods immediately fell out upon removing the nut. and the subframe bushings with a little whack with a hammer :o
And the axles being able to be pushed out with a finger😂
That is not typical. Soutgern Cal has very little rust
I will never take cali cars for granted.
That would never happen in Sweden without a help of the big fat hammer. 😂🙈
or hear or grinder at the end :D @@realvolvofreak
the absolute shock when you just casually smaked the bushings out and they weren’t cemented to the subframe, excellent work i might do this myself
I was so jealous, usually there is a lot more fire and swear words when I am doing bushings lol
I think it might be that the rubber doesn't bond itself to aluminium as much as it does steel. Also those bushes didn't have a steel shell which definitely helps.
I thought I was going to have to take a drill to them from everything ive seen online so my jaw hit the floor when they just dropped out with a hammer tap
Exactly my kind of YT content. Real guy in his garage with an attainable car. Also the production value is far beyond a channel of this size. Great job as always.
Thank you
Fastest IG to YT swap ever
The way you work on these P2s makes me so happy, they aren't that bad to work on if you know what youre doing and your channel helps us all - many thanks 😀
Once you get your head around some of the quirks I actually think they’re quite nice to work on.
They're really good to work on compared to most other European cars too.
I don't understand how you got under 30k subs.. Your content is some of the best I've seen in a while, better than most of the car channels with millions of subs. Keep up your good work dude! Shoutout to you from Ireland :)
Instead of changing bushings you could (at least here in Sweden) drive up to the junkjard and remove the subframe from a Volvo C70, they are famous because instead of subframe bushings they just have solid alumium bushings to compensate for insability that comes with not having a roof and all. But putting this in a V70R makes it obviously little less soft, but way more stability :)
would this benefit the same way in an S60R?
@@bren.nan_ Ye for sure
@@bren.nan_ The S60 and V70 have the same subframe, so any mods for one should work on the other. That being said, I don't think the C70 subframe swap works for a P2. That's a good mod for the P80 V70s since the 1st gen C70 was also built on the P80 chassis, but the second gen C70 was a P1 chassis, not a P2, so the subframe won't fit an S60R unfortunately.
@@kennethlippo1397 gotcha. thanks for the info!
Looking for a source for euro headlight’s without the amber blinkers for a P2 XC70 -are there any junkyards in Sweden you could pass along info for?
I'm not even a Volvo owner (GTI) but saw this on a recommended; Two months later i keep binge watching this channel. Good stuff man.
I've never seen subframe bushings pop out that easy with a hammer, I wish they were all like that.
I was shocked 😂
When I did mine in my S60 T5 I had to use a blowtorch for them to get free.
@@wheelemverbI suspect they were not original. That was extremely unusual. I've done the job 3x with factory bushings for V70, XC70 and XC90. Factory bushings have a barb holding the bushing in. SoCal non-rust is not an explanation. Something was different there with your car.
That's one of the things I love about the P2 chassis; the aluminium subframes (edit, front one is actually galv steel). Such a brilliant move by Volvo at a time when pretty much everyone else was still making theirs out of steel. It means when you look under one of these things now, 20 years later, they still look so much nicer. No rampant rust or peeling chassis paint. And they're lighter when you're dragging them across the floor.
The front subframe is steel.
Galvanized steel. Front bonnet only is aluminum, all 4 hub carriers too. Rear trunk is fiberglass.
Stuck a magnet on my front subframe and yes, seems you're right, it's galvanised steel. I was working on the rear and assumed the front would be aluminium as well.
Чувак, мне нравится музыкальный вкус! Это то, как бы я хотел провести свою молодость - чинить Volvo и слушать крутую музыку. Привет из России!)
Detailing-styled production, meets DIY, and on a Volvo I’ll add! Fantastic production.
I've worked in an auto parts warehouse. The subframes are pretty heavy. It's great to see you work on this car. It makes me want to find a old Volvo Sedan. I just don't know if I could do a station wagon. Keep up the good work. I love your videos.
I almost died taking my subframe bushings out
Those wheels look amazing on that car. And dang I really want a v70 now lol. Used to have a 94 850R
I've always had an undying appreciation for the V70 series, I'm still on the hunt for a good V70 N/A, the "R"'s are too hard to find here and when you do, they are extremely expensive in good nick. I wanted to say however, though I've passively worked on cars and trucks my entire life, you have most definitely inspired me to finally pull the trigger and get a V70, I'm dead set. You've also been a tremendous inspiration to myself and a couple of my friends interested in these wonderful wagons. Not only have you shown that you just gotta do it, you've also motivated me and shown me to not be afraid of tackling what seems impossible when working on vehicles. I truly appreciate you making all of the Volvo video series, for being super informative and detailed and well spoken, if not for your content, I don't think I would have moved forward with the decision on a V70. You have a subscriber for life dude, and, I'd love to see your photography work as well, which I'm sure is as mind blowing as the Volvo series. Keep up the amazing work 🤙❤️
I live for these videos! Wish I could find a £1500 project V70R over here in the UK!
Keep on eye on T5, is without the fancy bodykit, but still as much fun, and still 250 hp, there are lots of those in UK, for buttons
Lots of v70r too, but prices are high and you still need to do all the work..
Finally. Nothing's better than coming home and watching a new episode of V70R overhauls while mine needs the exact same stuff replaced lmao. Next up AOC Pump and filter change? :D
That subframe looks BRAND NEW!! This V70R is going to be so happy after all these mods. I had those same brembo brakes, they are awesome!
hey man, I bought a 2006 2.5 S80 for dirt cheap with over 270k and I have been going through the process of restoring my car in a very similar process to you. Watching you struggle with a lot of the same things I had to struggle with gave me life. I had to individually wrap the spark plug cables with electrical tape because they had decayed like your v70 had. l thank you for the P2 content
Hahah yes I need to go through the whole coilpack harness before it starts acting up
Anything over “dirt cheap” at that mileage would be unwise lol
Another excellent video on the R. Thank you so much. First I was sceptic about the BBS rims, but man, they fit perfectly.
Soothing, entertaining and informing at the same time. love your stuff. Excited to see what else you got coming.
I am absolutely stoked about your knowledge, amazes me every time. Keep going love it!!
Hitting the like before watching, love these V70 videos! Nice editing style and great to see appreciation for these sleek wagons overseas. Keep up the good work, greetings from Finland!
great content, man. I'm enjoying your updates.
Amazing work! So happy that you take the time and effort to make these stunning videos for us all!
Great stuff! I really like way you film everything. It's at home 'DIY' but also very professional and sharp.
Been waiting for your video! I always enjoy them
Love the work and dedication. Thank you sir for this channel.
This makes me miss my C30 so much. All the weekends i spent wrenching on that car just hits me when i watch this channel.
Yet another great, informative video. I absolutely love these Swedish wardrobes on wheels. They look so good from every perspective!
another masterpiece of an episode! Awesome!
i love to see that you are not afraid to go at it and just do it , no matter what you encounter good job
Love the V70R videos man! Please never stop upgrading this car, and boy that 5-cyl with the japanifold sounds incredible!
Man these videos are chill to watch. Everything just comes apart so easy compared to the rusty cars im used to working with.. Big up from Finland!
That engine support bar is pretty cool!!
Love this series. Thanks for bringing us all along
I admire your hard work
I love the environment in these videos. Thanks for updating us!! (15:22 allison's fit is fire)
Dang you work fast! Love the channel
Great video!!! I hope you enjoy those subframe bushings for the years to come 😊
Love the work you put into this car. I was never really into Volvos, but now knowing how much you can do to one and the fun you can get out of it I'm starting to appreciate them more. I just found out about you thanks to the algorithm and went through all of your videos. You won yourself a subscriber. Keep up the good work.
Great job man! Love ur videos!
such a good vid. in the same process now on a 01 v70 2.4t. love the work.
As an xc70 owner, I find your videos both helpful and therapeutic :) You are doing a fantastic job ! Keep up the good work !
Loved those wheels.. Had the set on my S40 R... cleannnnest look. nice WORK!
been waiting for the next edpisode, absolutely HOOKED on this build!!!! love the content dude!!
Alright Wheelem defiantly a fun channel to watch. The Volvo is coming along. Thanks for sharing brother. On to the next vid and the new tires on those sweet rims.
Great work! Keep it up!
Really love the way you work on your car in such a fearless manner. Clearly you are a capable mechanic when it comes to working on these cars. Keep up the great work on your cars and videos.
Much love from the UK, enjoying this $1,500 V70R journey thus far! 🙏
My favorite channel by far, keep the content coming! I have owned around ten volvos now, mostly p2’s and there is just not enough good content out there especially with any sort of modifications. You have single handedly convinced me to keep buying old volvos 🙌
Amazing videos, dude! I really enjoy everything you do and showing us. GL!
nice clean install, nice build, everything was so neat and clean. bushings came off effortlessly. really nice!! keep up the good work.
i fell in love since the first v70r video man! you are doing an amazing job on this car! love the content!
Cheers from France!
I found this channel and have not regretted it , I’m currently on my second Volvo ,moved from S80 to XC60 ,I’m so envious of your V70 but their is something about Volvo I’m glad I found.
Great videos on the v70 & those new alloys look great keep them coming please
Loving the series!
One of the only series I’ve kept up with consistently on UA-cam. What’s funny is just a couple days before you uploaded this I did a full front end overhaul on my S70 replacing most the same parts as you 😂, sway bar end links, lower control arms, outer tie rods, etc. I only did the subframe bushing inserts from IPD though because I had to finish it all within the day as the car is my daily so I didn’t have time to fully replace the bushings 😅. Love it! Keep up the good work.
I have finally found a channel that builds directly without unnecessary explanations👌👍Keep it up bro!
been waiting all week for this i'm so ready
Congratulations to 30K subscribers!
Greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪
Super good job
Love the work and the video
Excellent build and looking forward to continued Volvo-shenanigans. Also, I laughed a bit when you showed the new intercooler pipes since "Snabb" is the swedish word for quick/fast.
Love that you make V70R video, there are too few videos about v70R, keep it up!/ /Gabbe from Sweden
sooo amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
there is no better feeling then going on youtube and there is a new wheelemverb video
It keeps getting better! Good work 👌
Brilliant stuff mate.
I enjoyed watching your process of replacing parts. 😊
Drive safely and stay healthy. 👍💕💐🍀
So glad that UA-cam recommended your account to me. Absolutely in love with the content.
i don't have words to describe how good this is. keep it up bro and thank you
You deserve more subs the production value is already there ! I just moved from SoCal I wish I was back there to hangout .
Another great vid mate. I really like your style.
I wasn't keen the first time you put those rims on the car in the previous vid but I actually quite like them now.
2005 Volvo S60 T5 owner... subscribed.
You make working on these things look sooo easy. Beautiful car and great work.
Thankful i found your channel.
Yet another amazing video, keep 'em coming! The production value is golden. Peace 🤟
As someone who got a 2007 S60 AWD with a 3 inch sketchy straight pipe from the catalyst, these engines makes some seriously sexy sounds, both at idle and when doing a pull. Cant wait to see what comes next!
Mad respect amigo, that was a JOB...Love the music and UR calmness of getting it DONE!!
All my years watching volvo content ive never seen anyone actually drop the subframe. You make it look easy!
Congrats great video. I have a P80 R wagon and have the C70 subframe with aluminum bushings I pulled from a yard. Looking to fully swap the subframe and your video has given me good insight on how to do it and keep the engine in place.
Yeah dude! Great work. Keep it coming.
Have done the exact same suspension overhaul to my R two years back, what a difference it made! The only thing that exceeds that excitement is the manual swap 🙂. I did it while overhauling the front suspension, you'll be thrilled after the swap. Looking forward to the m66 swap in future videos!!!
Dude! Your channel is blowing up! keep up the great content
my hours of searching for nice V70 wagons is absolutely your fault. thank you.
Keep it up awesome videos gives me inspiration to keep working on my volvo
The video was absolutely perfect! Enjoyed every second of it. Want a v70r most definitely one day as my daily, am in school and for Motorsports
Great to hear some new music on this episode! Great vid as usual man!
great video as always!
The music throughout this video is like going to a spa... aaaah! keep up the good work! cheers from Sweden!
you dont have to use red locktite on these bolts, way too much, they dont vibrate and the torque on these will hold them forever, just a lil tip, keep up the cool projects :D !!
Man, after teaching me so much about photography many years ago. I can't believe I bumped into your alt-channel - it's so good to see you so stoked man. Also by chance I've been eyeing up the V70R for years, just need the UK insurance market to sort itself out.
Very good Job. On my V70R AWD i have OZ omnia black 8Jx18 ET45. Congratulation from Austria. 🇦🇹
Subbed, I absolutely love these cars.
This is the ONLY channel i am happy to see upload this relatable content and actual indepth view
Impressed those bushings came out so easily. I'm about to replace mine in my 98 v70 and use the ipd poly inserts, but now you got me thinking I should go with delrin.
Tha V wagon is lookn frikn awesome!!! I love wagons. Keep up good work bro!!
Your cleaning efforts never go unnoticed!
The quality of your production is next level bro, much love from the UK
been waiting for an upload for agessss yayyyy
This channel needs more views for sure
