These videos give me hope that car culture is not completely dead. People commenting with solid information and advice, and it being useful to push the project ahead while we all watch and root for this to be a great build is about as wholesome as it gets.
Haha @9:30 is too relatable. That's how it always goes. The bolts start out nice and organized then all of a sudden it's mayhem. Lol. As long as you don't have too many leftover at the end. I'm really enjoying this series man, thanks for all the entertainment.
One of THE best UA-cam channels going... seeing this car on the verge of being scrapped, but instead falling into the best of hands. Incredible work 🙌🔥
@@wheelemverbHi.....I have to know did you go to a technical school to learn about working on cars like this .....???...I cant imagine just learning what you know just by diving in to the Volvo motors ....
Man these videos are so refreshing. Watching a youtuber slap a bodykit on a japanese car has been done to death. This is a nice change from the monotony.
Have a base 2003 v70 manual, still shiftin' after 21 years of continuous use. These Volvos literally can run for years if you take care of them. l drive conservatively, never strain the engine, no burn-outs, no quick lane changes on the highway, only steady driving for what the car was designed for. The work you did is beyond my capacity, but l truly appreciate the methodical manner of work done.
Yes, manual transmissions are hard to find, but l live in Canada and there were more manuals sold here than in the USA. So they are rare, but not ultra-rare. More the case that the cars of 20 years vintage are gonzo.
Just wanna say I really like your channel. It's just honest classic UA-cam but really well put together. Also, you show your mistakes which can really happen to anybody and it's inspiring to anyone wanting to start working on cars. I actually had a throttle body with the same connector as the original one but the pinout was different... That took a bit longer to figure out than a forgotten connector. Greetz from a Volvo fan from Belgium! (Actual comment on the video on the Pcv fix and injector replacement but Autoplay skipped to this...)
i love watching people learn how to wrench by getting their hands dirty and just jumping in. YT is a great source of information and tutorials, but nothing beats the first hand experience of figuring things out for yourself
Dude your work ethic and videography skills are absolutely magnificent. Thank you for shining a light on these beautiful cars, I’m definitely going to use these videos to do my own manual swap in the summer. Can’t wait!
Go to Harbor Freight and buy a soft mallet or three of different sizes for hitting seals. If you dont have a nicer flat something or another (the back of a big socket for instance) to put up against a seal to move it in all at the same time use the outer side of the old seal up against the outer of the new seal to protect it when you hit it. Ive had to redo do seals a couple three times when I used your hammer technique when I was at this stage of learning gearhead stuff. Great project!!
love your videos man, I own a 2003 S60R since like 1.5 year now, but I have never touched it myself due to lack of space and any basic mechanical knowledge but watching all this makes we wanna give it a go finally to save some of the money all of the workshops take for their labour... keep it up, cant wait to see it on the road, cheers from Poland
The beauty of series like these is that you were in the garage getting it running. I was at my sink doing the dishes. Yeah, you were 100% more excited than I was. But I'm still here fist pumping shouting "let's go!"
Dude, glad to see you have fun! Keep it going, I believe it will pay off VERY soon. Thank you for all the entertainment. When I discovered your channel - I binge watched every video, and since then just watching every one as they come. Love the 2.5T noises.
Upgrade the oil cooler from the plastic one to the aluminum 65 mm from the MKII Focus RS for performance, its a simple upgrade but it will make sure that ur oil temps don't spike under load. You would need to drain the oil and the coolant though so whenever that is being done don't forget to upgrade.
Great vids dude. I've owned and maintained swedish cars since 1987. No vids back then, just Haynes manuals that were more confusing than a jigsaw puzzle. 4 Saabs and 4 Volvos later I still love working on my P2 chassis '07 S60 and '07 V70. While I'm not a professional mechanic I have worked on Asian and American cars. I really dig how you limit the talk to specifics and your eloquence, not to mention cool background music. I would be more likely to play Otep as background but hey I'm enjoying the vids.
Keep it up... You have talent, talent to show in your own way! Don't change the concept, start new projects!!! And the million button will be yours! It's a pleasure to see your work! ;) Best wishes from Latvia!
I love how when it started your straight out and looking on the floor incase anything is leaking, I do this every time I’ve done a engine job or anything like this 😂
As someone who whants to buy a volvo this year, thise series really helps me think about all the problems i might have and how to fix them, this keeps me very interested in this project
Just catching up with this series - the V70R is rad. Also glad to see the Outer Banks hat, guessing he spends some time up in Nags Head - appreciate the shout out to Eastern NC!
As a Swede living in the States this warms my heart. I also worked for Volvo (mandatory.. jk!) and now I really miss my 855 T-5R “T-Gul”! Bra jobbat, kör hårt! 🇸🇪
Cheers from Croatia, Nice videos. I also own Volvo, V50D2, 84kw. Wish i have someone like you who understands Volvo like that. Keeping to follow your channel.
Takes a lot of commitment and persistence to take on a job like that, great channel, nice job, well done.. Looking forward to the first drive as a manual. I've never owned an automatic, but here in the UK, manuals have historically been more common.
I literally just bought a 2003 v70 and I’ve just been enjoying watching all these videos, cause most of what you’re doing I’ll probably be doing in the future too lmao
The airbag sensor in the center console is actually the ECU for the SRS system, all the decisions related to airbag deployment and belt tensioning are handled by that module. It says don’t tilt it because if you have the car on and tilt it, it assumes the car is rolling over. The general manager at my last job got concussed by the curtain airbag when he was leaning into a car window while a tech was doing diag with a new SRS module hooked up but unbolted. The module got knocked on its side, and the car thought it rolled over so it deployed the curtain airbags.
Not really a vovlo fan but love the 2.5 engine and for some reason I've found myself looking at volvos the last few weeks 😂 I've enjoyed watching your videos and you've learnt yourself a new subscriber 🎉
I'm about 1 minute and 58 seconds into the video and I thought that it would have been more suitable for the no oil tape, to be accompanied by a "NO ENGINE" tape, while the engine was taken off. Good work, great vid, keep it up!
I’ve been enjoying this journey along side you man this is some good stuff I typically wait for the right time to watch the videos so I’m not falling asleep. Keep up the good work
I am not a Volvo specialist, but there are car brands, Renault for example, where the bearing of the crankshaft differs when using a manual transmission or an automatic transmission. After all, with a manual transmission; when the clutch pedal is pressed, the pressure group is pushed against the crankshaft. Axial bearings have been mounted to absorb this force. This is not necessary for automatics. So see if the crankshaft bearings have a difference between manual or automatic.
After a long day in the workshop, working on my Volvo i couldn't imaging a relaxer way to end the night by watching your video! Congratulations on your progress Willem and i hope you wrap it up in a good way. 🤟
i don’t know absolutely anything about volvos, but your content is amazing. i absolutely love your videos! would love to see a paint correction done, especially with the new headlights & coils, it just be the cherry on top
You are absolutely cranking out these videos! And the quality isnt taking a hit one bit. Youre making this look way too easy!

This is what youtube used to be before everyone sold out. I get that thats the cycle but its fun to see a channel like this at the beginning of it.
Absolutely the best car series at the moment in youtube
Easy!
The new Maserati project from @M539 Restauration is competing with this series for me

56 seconds, this is the earliest I've ever been to one of your videos. Love the series so far, keep up the good work!
No yelling in the intro, no aggravating music, no obnoxious attitude, high quality production? Damn. Instant sub from me. Kudos on great work.
The speed and quality of your uploads is wild man! This series is super entertaining and a great resource to the community.
Car youtubers are so loud all the time, it's been really nice just chillin with you and your volvo these past weeks. Thanks for the videos!
