hey bro, fantastic video. Would you want to sell the fabricated pipes to make this exhaust? I’ll buy a set right now from you. I have been looking into doing this exhaust for weeks now and there’s no exhaust shop near me that can do this. I have a ‘99 996 with Fabspeed headers that fit like OEM. I’ll buy some pipes to connect the GT3 muffler from you.
There's many automotive channels on YT now..but there are a few that stand out and this is one of them...the content is just clean...don't change what you are doing
As the local Saab guy in LA ( I don't live too far from your neighborhood) I must say, this is the content I look for in automotive channels. I used to follow your photography as it was a hobby of mine. I am really into the no nonsense, realistic approach to wrenching on cars. No crazy tropical house and wild sponsorships with completely unattainable cars. I love the direction this channel is going and it really inspires me to keep up the jobs on my own cars. Keep it up!
The blue brake fluid was Super Blue High Temp Brake Fluid. It was outlawed several years ago in the USA because of the unique color. Standard color for the fluid per the US regulations is gold. But the same good stuff can be had in the approved color. Nice updates!
20:57 when you were saying that the engine sounded like two i3 engines together I didn't know how that sounded raw. but with the demonstration, your explanation makes perfect sense.
Nice videos dude. I have a 2002 C2 that I've done TONS of work on, lmk if you have any questions about niche 996 info bc I've spent hours on the forums/fiddling on these cars. Glad to see others enjoying these cars as much as I do!
Have to say, I love your videos Willem. from the montages, the comprehensive tips you lead us through step by step. I’m hoping one day in a future video you would consider walking us through your shop space and different organizational techniques you have for some of us just starting out to look at as a sort of scaffold for our own personal work spaces. Cheers
Take inspiration from the 996 GT3 cup cars. They also modified the original side exit bumpers to be center exit. Look at how they cut the bumper to look nicer. You can cut off the metal protrusions for the black plastic bumperettes and fill in the holes to make it euro style like the cup cars. Or source a euro bumper so you don't need to repaint it
I absolutely love your videos and your editing style ! You're chill, have a good personality and you actually show what you're doing in detail I've never been a fan of the 996 but you're making me like it more with how cool it seems to mod it This GT3 muffler is absolutely fantastic and the 911 now sounds like a proper flat six
Dude, I don’t comment often on your videos, but every once in a while I just have to. Love the way the 996 is turning out so far, this car is up there on my dream list and it’s awesome seeing your vision coming to life. Really inspiring me to work harder towards getting one for myself! Keep it up man you’re doing great
when bleedimg brake you'll want the bottle to be higher than the bleed nipple, so that air bubbles don't get trapped in the line and actually move into the bottle. great video non the less
I put this same oem titanium muffler mated to my fabspeed headers on my '91 964 RWB and damn what a symphony it produces! Nice work! Just discovered your channel today. I've been watching all your 996 content.
Im a 986 owner and i love watching 996/986 content and you just got my sub because i also have been considering a volvo and when i looked at your other videos on it... Well done! Im here to say now!
This is awesome! I had a s60r which your channel brought back memories of that car. Now I have a ruf rturbo and I have a titanium gt3rs center muffler on my car. So glad more people are doing this mod! Keep up the great work brother
Another banger! That muffler replacement makes the car sound much better. That GT3 exhaust is worth every dollar! Looking forward to the next episode. Let's GO!
Great films and an awesome showcase of the work during the renovation-thank you for such content! Thanks to it, I’m starting to believe I can try tinkering with this car myself. A question from an amateur: could you add in the comments under the video where you bought the parts? And maybe sometimes include info about the tools you used? That would be super helpful! Take care-I’ll keep following your channel.
I found your channel a few weeks ago and now I’m hooked. This motivates me to one day have a 911 of my own! I might even sell my e36 M3 to fund it haha
Looking good! Consider getting the gear box warm with a drive and then pulling your fill plug. If you get some fluid out, that would mean you over serviced it as well. I recently went through the same thing with my 991. Great channel. Keep it up.
Amazing Willem. How did you learn to do this? I never thought I’d watch content like this but I loved watching my late brother do this stuff and this was bringing back all the feels for me. Great job
Random Porsche community thing I learned on my 944's wheels, face the tip of the Porsche crest towards the valve stem. It's the Porsche way! haha. 996 looks & sounds great!
Check the transmission fill procedure, on the automatic transmission you should fill up until fluid flows from the fill plug, then close the fill plug and start the engine, then let the fluid go trough the whole transmission, once you’re at around 30 Celsius with the engine still working you open the fill plug again and fill until it spills again. Maybe this procedure applies to the manuals too and explains why there was that extra fluid.
I agree with everyone else, these are so good. I own a couple Volvos and a 65 Corvair Corsa convertible. So I'm obviously a Porsche fan too. Still looking for the right 911. Keep these coming!
i absolutely love your videos man, for such a small channel the videos are so perfectly crafted. great work per usual, one question is what do you use to film these?
It looks like you have the aero front bumper and side skirts but a standard rear bumper. If you found an aero rear bumper the exhaust tips wouldn’t look like they are sticking out too far.
I found your channel back in spring, while I was searching to see how amazing Volvos are, and boy did I enjoy watching you fix your cheap V70R, and now this Porsche. Where's the Miata though ?
Been loving your content! Also: you were right to change your bake fluid, that old blue brake fluid should be ATE Superblue which has been discontinued for over a decade!
He learned how to torque lug nuts from Matt Ross 😂 (kidding of course) I love these videos, so happy to see you getting into a dream platform! Excited for more on this build!
Also those rotors are FINE. They get much thinner than that in actual use, but yeah when you make a switch to ceramics you won't be mismatching rotors/pad wear. The pads outlast the rotors in some use cases, and I've tried Zimmerman/Sebro/ATE/Pagid and they're all interchangeable. I'm glad your coolant hoses look alright, it's a nightmare to replace every one of them because of all the clamps and small hose sections that connect to hard lines.
Really like the car, nice upgrades. I could be wrong, but having used DOT 5 synthetic racing brake fluids before, they were always blue, and do not absorb moisture like normal DOT 4. Not saying they all are blue, just the brands brought to me to put in customer cars. I've been using the Mercedes OE fluid lately. Expensive, but a really nice feel. Love the shirt design, will be picking up some, thanks.
Nice job. Looks like a fun project. You must have paid a mint for the GT3 exhaust. Interesting the original exhaust sounds better (growl) at low revs and the new one at high revs.
Me encanta. Lo único malo es que vas a conseguir que suban los precios de los 996 de segunda mano! Congratulations, great great work! She only needs a detail.
I was watching you doing the job on your car, I wish I were 30 years younger than I am now. When I was teenager, no internet to look up, no Ytube and no such a good clip like this. Enjoy your ride, young man, time is fast. Once you know, it has already gone.
Heyyyy, I called it! I think you probably already know about this too, but GT3 front lower control arms help with the understeery nature of the rear engine. Excited to see what you do with the car in the future!
Hey, if you wanna improve the shifting feel, no point in getting a new bushing but instead I'd recommend you look into Numeric racing shifter. It will make the shifter feel rock solid compared to the factory one.
This Porsche is known to be the least loved especially for its front lights but this model with this color and your great work on it makes me change my mind.😊😊😊
These videos cannot stop. From your photo episodes, to the Volvo builds and now Porsche. I'm hooked.
Thank you

10:25 the old shocks don’t look bad at all, just a little dirty. You could probably resell them.
exactly it ran for around 20 years and still looks good. maybe he said that because it was a promotion.
it so peaceful watching these videos. need more of these.
My favourite automotive channel at the moment. Always look forward to your video's. Keep doing what you're doing!
God, this sound of new muffler is the best... Thank you for nice videos
Beautiful build so far! The 996.1 is my attainable dream car, and it was awesome seeing your plans for this one
when bleedimg brake you'll want the bottle to be higher than the bleed nipple, so that air bubbles don't get trapped in the line and actually move into the bottle. great video non the less

Stumbled upon your channel on the Volvo build, and I haven't been disappointed since.
One of my favorite channels. Always look forward to your videos. Keep it up!!
Awesome stuff. Love the mods. That exhaust upgrade was worth every pretty penny you spent. Sounds so good.

Exhaust looks a bit weird because the bumper was designed for the original exhaust.
still figuring it out! will get it looking better with some shorter different tips
Can look into getting a 996 cup rear bumper
Replicas are pretty cheap
@@wheelemverb I second the 996 Cup bumper! It would complete the car's look with the exhaust and all!
You have great mechanic skills for such a young guy. Well done dude!
I want to thank you for the awesome content! I love your car videos as well as your film ones. But man... your car vlogs are spectacular! I love it!
bro came back 10x harder 😭

Congrats! That's a very nice channel! For your Porche, I recommend a complete detail under and in the ridden parts!
Another banger! That muffler replacement makes the car sound much better. That GT3 exhaust is worth every dollar! Looking forward to the next episode. Let's GO!
This 996 sounds insane! love the build, hope to see more things done on it!
Great stuff! Keen to see it with wheel spacers and a new gear ⚙️ shift bushing.
Giving us what we want, instant results. Gold!
Hold up we can’t just ignore that S2000 😳
what S2000
S2000 lol

Best car channel rn. Loving the Porsche content.
It's gonna be even more perfect with spacers as you said, this 996 looks amazing congrats man!

The final sound is insane !
Now I just need more of those Porsche Film Photos and resist the urge to buy a project car. Great Video!
The exhaust sounds dope, looks are not really up my alley.
I agree the tips need work and I think im going to build a V2 of this.
@@wheelemverb Cant wait man, your videography is also spot on. Much enjoyment to be had.
@@wheelemverb Did you use a stainless steel GT3 muffler or is that titanium? For $1k I assume stainless.

Yo man I am new to this channel. This 996 made me come here. You doing real good work. SUBSCRIBED ❤🎉
That muffler's low tones are amazing

All you are missing is GT3 style Arms + alignment for increased camber & good tires 👍
I dunno why but the maintenance parts of this (and the Volvo saga) were very satisfying to watch.
Yoo sick video man. Maybe some wheelspacers would fit it quite well too

First he says 992 but then 997, I think it's the latter. 992 GT3 muffler would be much more than 1000. Even for 997 part it's almost a bargain.
Very good job. Sound beautiful🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻

Can you take some more pics or vids of how the GT3 center exit was adapted to M96 headers ? I had no thought of this but that sound !
tbh, i like the before exhaust sound. personal preference, but it's got that metallic rumble sound that the new exhaust just smoothens out.
I can't be the only one that thinks the original exhaust sounds way better?
