I think I would have liked to see the Test stressed a little more with a higher resolution. AirLink and virtual desktop is all about transferring that video data over the air. A medium Quality level probably only streams a 1080p. If you're comparing routers I would have liked to stress that data demand to 4K at each eye. Yes that means that you probably won't render at 90 fps so it's moot, but we're comparing routers here, not Graphics cards.

Problem with those ISP provided routers is that they have anemic radios and can't cover shit in terms sq footage. And can't transmit or receive though much in terms of interior walls or even furniture. If you are renting or don't want to / cant move your router to the same room as your gaming pc, then piss off I guess.
Connect your PC/laptop to the dedicated router via LAN cable. Max speeds of the LAN cables are as follows: CAT5 = 100MBit, CAT5E = 1GBit, CAT6 = 1GBit, CAT7 = 10GBit, CAT8 = 40GBit. CAT7 uses special plugs, so I'd use the most powerful and recent 40GBit CAT8 LAN cables that have the standard RJ45 plugs. Connecting the dedicated router to the ISP router will only add online playability and doesn't affect performance or lag. The weakest connection will be the dedicated router's WiFi since air is not the stablest transmission material for signals and some obstacles can weaken the max power of the WiFi connection. 866MBit or 1200MBit will both be overkill, though. The bandwidth is not the most important thing here, but how many antennae are available. If only your Quest is connected to the dedicated router, its antennae can unleash their full potential without other interference from other devices. Even though good routers use 4x4 MU-MIMO (multi user - multiple input, multiple output) streams and the Quest's chip only has 2x2 whatever that means. In short, your router is probably overkill anyway if you only connect your Quest and your phone to the dedicated router's WiFi.
Also keep in mind that CAT8 only carries its 40.000MBit up to 50 meters but if you only need 100MBit for up and down streaming, the bandwidth will be more than fine even at 100 meters or more. Idk how the falloff works there
You could even use your dedicated router in the desert if you have an offline game to play. The dedicated router really just functions as an antenna that creates a WiFi network for your Quest. You don't need the ISP router, it just makes it possible to play online if you plug it into the dedicated router, that's all.

I have my ISP router in the living room and connect my dedicated router via ethernet, then just password protect it so no one can connect except you.
That leaves your ISP router free for family etc
Mac you’re a life saver. Why doesn’t anyone mention to do this! My ISP router initially had a freak out but appears to be stable now. Thanks very much
What are you even talking about, the fps has nothing to do with the router you use (at all, like AT ALL)
This is the case for 90fps but I doubt that it will be the same for 120fps.
I might give that a stress test then, thanks for the idea 💡
@@MacInVR did you test 120 hz?
Rooter... arghhhhhhhhhhhh SMH
Router for cutting wood, router for wifi 😂
