I’m compelled to comment: after i prepared to tackle this install, I saw lots of videos showing the installation of the previous version of the Hanshow speaker upgrade. The problem was that I ordered “New Version”, which looked very different than the videos of the previous version. The instructions that came with the product are TERRIBLE. I found two videos showing installation of the New Version, and this one was by far the most helpful. A lot of comments about the “just figure it out” advice. After having completed this project as a novice, I can tell you that with this video and some perseverance, you’ll figure it out.
Haha 😂 I was a bit annoyed at the process and kept asking myself why I committed to filming this. Glad you appreciate it. ALSO: I found a way to tap into the harness to pull signal for adding an aftermarket subwoofer and amp. Video coming soon!
Thank you for the video. Everything is good with video except "Figure it out". Those who din't figure out, solution is you you don't need two hands. You need flat screw driver, keep it in the middle of male and female pin connector where those two meets. Press a bit and twist, that would release the connector easily. Good Luck. I don't know why Hansshow has increased price of cable to $99. So I wanted to buy from Aliexpress for about $30 for my 2023 M3 RWD. After installation, it activates all four speakers. Music lovers definitely feel the difference.
This is the best video to see how to install the audio upgrade kit. It was not difficult but the black connector was a mother to reconnect. Using the flat head screw driver to loosen the connectors is a very useful tip. Thank you for posting this video
Fantastic video, took me about an hour. I left my laptop running on the console so you could tell me to "figure it out" when I got stuck.Word to the wise, if your're not mechanically inclined don't attempt this. The best tip I think you gave was to lower passenger seat all the way back so you can lay on your back to get to the connections under the dash. Thanks for posting this awesome video. Why Tesla never activated these speakers at the factory just baffles me.
This is such a simple and detailed explanation that has made my sound so much better as well as adjusting the built in equalizer. The equalizer makes quite a difference and the extra speakers brings out a bunch of mid range to make the full range so much better. Don't let the fear hold you back and you'll really enjoy this easy upgrade.
Really appreciate this video! It made the installation as seamless as possible on my 2023 RWD model 3. This video feels like the tutorial that harness should come with.
Haha that means a lot. I actually reached out to Hansshow to see if they wanted to work with me for other products based on my video. Unfortunately they don’t think sending me a free product for a free tutorial video is a fair trade.
Getting into that upside position on the passenger seat came in clutch! Was able to get to those connectors in under 3 minutes. Thanks again for the diy video.
Yo I really appreciate the video I was struggling with the black clip. The other video didn’t explain what you did. Video was very informative and helpful.
Dude. Thank you so much for this video. I attempted the install tonight, got stuck at one point due to not having enough clearance to get into one of the connectors and panicked. I aborted the project but I think after watching your video a couple more times I can do it. Great video!
I finally completed this mod today. Took me a bit, but I'm happy with the results. The sound is much better. I have noticed the turn signals are much louder. I was used to the FocuST turn signals being relatively inaudible.
Appreciate the instructions which work well. A couple of comments though: 1. Getting the harness connector to tuck away at the base of the B pillar is very tough after install and 2. You are basically connecting 4 more tweeters which means you have to dial out almost all of the treble in the eq to get a balanced sound. Worth doing though for a better sound for sure.
Now to figure out which wires in this harness to tap for my line level inputs to an amp for a subwoofer. Don’t have everything I need for the sub but that harness was pretty easy to install. I’ve done a decent amount of car audio stuff though.
Do this upgrade still works after the update. I kept hearing that speakers sounds distorted or “high-pitched”? Really wanted do this upgrade with your tutorial, but afraid of wasting my money. Any thoughts?

Hansshow harness didn't work on my 2023 RWD. Installed it several times making sure everything was plugged in fully and properly. As far as sub, I've placed both JL audio TW1 12" sealed and 10" ported sub perfectly in the sub trunk. Drill tapped the power jump at the 15.7 v.
Where did you tap the speaker signal? That’s odd that the Hansshow Harness didn’t not work. Did you use the newest version like I did? I also recently installed a sub, and I modified the Hansshow Harness to get speaker signal and also got power from the source right by the High voltage under rear seat.
bDude, you are a HUGE help. Thank you. Any idea on how to put in rear speakers? I see Hansshow sells a 2023 (AMD version) with rear speakers and the cable is identical to the one that comes with the kit you did in your video. I know there's some dremel work to be done but if anyone has info i'd appreciate. Like, what size exactly, impedance, any special wiring not mentioned etc? THanks again!
Hey thanks! I did not go with that option so I don’t have any expertise with that setup just yet. I did however just install a subwoofer by tapping into this harness. Check out my most recent upload!
Thank you for doing this for us, subscribed (I almost give up with the harness on the computer end... no video mentioned with the flat head screw driver method) Thank you, great video. Btw do you think it will affect the OTA update or warranty? when you go to the tesla dealer, do you have to remove it before they see this? thank you again
Haha man I wish I had my video before installing this too! Glad it helped. I’m not sure about updates. I highly doubt this would effect anything. As for the warranty, you MIGHT want to remove this kit if you are going in for a checkup on something electronic, but honestly I don’t know. Glad you watched the video! I’m installing a subwoofer next. (Actually already did it but I just want to make sure my install video is good)
Have you had any problem with the speaker balance and tge fader. Does it activate the wires for rear speakers. I have 23 tesla model 3 doesn't cone with rear speakers. But I wouldn't mind adding a pair in the rear deck.
I’ve read that it is a “best practice” apparently the Tesla is rather smart and can tell when certain things are being unplugged. It can supposedly generate error codes that would then need to be addressed by the service center. Better to be safe in my opinion.
I still can’t figure out why a car company would go to the trouble of installing speakers and not have them hooked up other than cost. I tried calling Tesla service to see if they would do the installation and didn’t get an answer. Does anyone know if this is an option?
Awesome video, thanks. I have a recent build 2023 RWD. Wondering if this kit’ll work? Mind me asking what month your car built? Inside drivers door is the easiest place to tell. Mine’s a 05/23. Been told by a few folks this will not work and to wait for the official 2023 harness. Thanks
I am not yet satisfied with the audio. I am doing a full installation of a sub today that will fit in the Trunk Well. I will try to show my EQ settings however I believe those settings are more of a preference. If you want to get the most out of the front speakers, you should boost the high frequency. But I personally like having more low end so I am installing the sub.
Yes, they were installed by Tesla but never activated. Tesla did this because it was cheaper to not have to change the production lines at the factory and just keep all the cars the same
Hey nice video! Quick question, what month was your 2023 M3 made? I heard the more recently made 2023 M3’s no longer have the inactive speakers in the car. Many thanks!
If I wasn’t recording a video, I think it could be done in less than 1 hour. If you watch this step by step I think it would be done in about 45 mins. The plugs/harnesses in the car are harder to take out than expected.
I ordered a kit on Amazon and waiting to install it until i hear from folks if the Tesla block is really real. Has anyone recently installed and it didn't work? Curious since this install is a pain, but worth it if it works. Just don't want to mess with the car if this is pointless.
I called Tesla service on the 2023 footwell lights and even though they have a cover they don’t work. Also there isn’t an ambient lighting tab on the screen. The Tesla service rep said that in the future they could possibly do an update to connect the lighting.
Finally did this tonight. I am fairly good with my hands and made very quick work of it........then i powered it up. Ok, long story short: if you get a couple errors about insufficient power/degraded mode upon bootup? you're not alone. I have a m3 rwd 2023 mfr in May 2023. (AMD) so use the one he uses in the vid. My guess? One of those connectors with the lever. That's my suspect but it is good 2 go, just will be aware if i ever get a fault like that in the future. Basically thee cables are so incredibly tight down there i'm not 100% sure. The real battle is actually tuckin the wires near passenger B pillar. I don't knw but i redid everything(lost 10lbs in water weight lol) and DAMN! HUGE improvement in sound. I want to put in the rear speakers but i don't really wanna use Hansshows speakers. I'm very happy right now, thanks to your video! I will add rear speakers later down the road. Thanks man!
But, I did just install an aftermarket subwoofer because I wanted more bass. I did install the Hansshow subwoofer kit, I tapped into the door woofer leads from the Hansshow Harness and ran the signal to my sub. Video soon.

Just finished the install.. thank you for your video I really appreciate your hard work... That was a pain in the ass😅but worth it 👍
Hello. Just saw a news that tesla is trying to stop using these type of cables via software. Is yours working? Cheera
Interesting. Could you link me that article?
Hello,
I bought and install this system recently
Have you touch the Tesla's equalizer sytem?
If yes, can you send me your configuration please?
I am not yet satisfied with the audio. I am doing a full installation of a sub today that will fit in the Trunk Well. I will try to show my EQ settings however I believe those settings are more of a preference.
If you want to get the most out of the front speakers, you should boost the high frequency. But I personally like having more low end so I am installing the sub.
@@Teslamonial ok thanks
Why or how are they inactive? So when you purchase the vehicle they don’t work but are installed?
Yes, they were installed by Tesla but never activated. Tesla did this because it was cheaper to not have to change the production lines at the factory and just keep all the cars the same
Hey nice video! Quick question, what month was your 2023 M3 made? I heard the more recently made 2023 M3’s no longer have the inactive speakers in the car. Many thanks!
I think it’s only the rear speakers that are not there. The 4 A pillar speakers are still there. Mine was built in July 2023
your card didnt have the rear speakers?@@Teslamonial
@@kamelot511 correct. The 2023 and I think even the 2022 models don’t have the rear shelf speakers
would it be possible to add a bazooka sub to the model 3 that didnt come with a sub?
Take a look at my latest video. I installed aftermarket sub using this harness.
What was the total time start to finish?
If I wasn’t recording a video, I think it could be done in less than 1 hour. If you watch this step by step I think it would be done in about 45 mins. The plugs/harnesses in the car are harder to take out than expected.
Nice video. I think the best there is out there on this one. I have. 20203 RWD and I’ll likely proceed based on your success here.
Well done. I’ll sub
@@L3x4Pr0nemeans a lot to me being new at this! Really appreciate the feedback and the follow!
Anyone else got a high pitched whine/noise after installation? What to do?
I ordered a kit on Amazon and waiting to install it until i hear from folks if the Tesla block is really real. Has anyone recently installed and it didn't work? Curious since this install is a pain, but worth it if it works. Just don't want to mess with the car if this is pointless.
Did it work?
Any idea how much load does it put onto an amp? 14+sub has two amps. And what about warranty for the car?
Just curious.
Sorry, I don’t know about that stuff.
@@Teslamonial i wouldnt be happy if the amp would fry because of too much load. I had this problem in my previous car. Had to buy new amplifier.
Hello! I have 2023 model 3 rwd and just found out the footwell lights dont work. Did you activate it??
I have not done that yet, I plan to do a video on that in the near future!
I called Tesla service on the 2023 footwell lights and even though they have a cover they don’t work. Also there isn’t an ambient lighting tab on the screen. The Tesla service rep said that in the future they could possibly do an update to connect the lighting.
After 30 seconds I realise I’m not going to bother……..but I’m still watching 🤷♂️🤣
Haha it’s not that hard 🤣
@@Teslamonial me getting upside down is! 🤣🤣👍
Can Tesla do this
No
Why can’t Tesla service hook these four speakers up?

Have you tried tapping the speaker icon. Then the controls icon next to it
Finally did this tonight.
Thanks man!
Thanks for the comment, I never got any errors doing my install.
So you got errors but found out how to fix it?
How did you fix the error codes?
I heard that this kit robs power from the door speakers and kills what little low end bass the base speakers have. Can you confirm?
This is false.. The cheap amazon/ebay ones might do, but the Hansshow kit does not.
I believe the Hansshow model compensates for the loss by adding resistors or capacitors (I can’t remember and lack the actual knowledge to know 😂)
But, I did just install an aftermarket subwoofer because I wanted more bass.
I did install the Hansshow subwoofer kit, I tapped into the door woofer leads from the Hansshow Harness and ran the signal to my sub. Video soon.
@@Teslamonial wow, that sounds awesome. looking forward to the vid. great work on this one.
@@Teslamonial great, I got Hansshow harness installed and thinking about the sub, looking forward to the video!
