Great to see established clubs getting onboard with TT:120 and what a iconic location to go for 😁

Good luck with the build, hope the awaited HST and Castle are available for you by February. Dawlish not renowned for lots of A4’s or A3’s.

I used this technique to build my boards and despite the naysayers they work really well.

    Hi Howard et al,
Having been involved with, albeit lesser extent, DSW, in the 1990s, it's always held a fascination, since childhood too. A model with HST's etc is very exciting (I've done a lot of miles in those and remember pressing my nose through the chain link fencing at Shrivenham as a small boy seeing the prototype then production trains flying by). We've seen similar with Holiday Haunts in 7mm, but that predated the HST era.
Using TT120 for this sort of project is ideal, akin to "N", in that it plays to its strengths of; sweeping countryside, scale trains etc. It'll be interesting to see how TT120 pans out compared to Eg "N" (or 2mm), or 3mm.
I'm tempted by TT120, but I've yet to be convinced - as I'm quite wed to 7mm and SM32.
    I'll watch with interest 😊👍✌️

Dawlish has been visited by steam specials since the end of steam and so virtually any of the Hornby TT big locos would be appropriate. This year Sir Nigel and Flying Scotsman.

Some fun in the wings as there is a pipeline delay in getting HSTs, looks like the Eastern Region be making a power grab for the South Devon lines for the planned first display at Doncaster in February 24!

All the best! I look forward to seeing how you get on and seeing the layout on the exhibition circuit. You have got a tight time span and the stock available in TT:120 will make it a challenge. I started my N gauge Dawlish Warren layout in November 2019 and it had it's first exhibition in November 2021. I was working all by myself though. Here's a good look at my layout ua-cam.com/video/kx6rIGdddgQ/v-deo.html . Or if you prefer a shorter, contemporary view see ua-cam.com/video/JENGALXtbk8/v-deo.html

Looks like N gauge, not like the TT I remember. Still nice though

I agree Ross😊✌️👍 I liked the size of 3mm fine scale. Sadly, I think, until proven otherwise, that TT120 is too close to 2mm imho. I'll watch these chaps with interest, knowing some of their other layouts I'm sure they'll make a good job of a layout in this scale and gauge👍✌️🤞😊
