Still one of the most realistic British model railway layouts: Knaresborough - The Worlds End
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- This British model railway layout is based on the North Yorkshire market town of Knaresborough, its railway station and surrounding area. The modern image 4mm/ft scale model railway layout has been constructed by Pete Goss. The layout has only a simple branch line theme with trains running through the station on a twin track continuous circuit run. Also featured is the large stone built and ornate viaduct over the River Nidd which is around 5 feet long. The layout was set in the time period around 2005 to 2015, so the rolling stock includes the modern day colourfully liveried DMU’s and several long special model trains.
Modelling this miniature world was for Pete an exciting journey into authentic model building construction that produced an array of architecturally interesting buildings taken from High Street and Market Place in the town centre together with parts of Finkle Street, Kirkgate, Waterside, Riverside and Water Bag Bank. The name “Worlds End” refers to the pub that features at the front of this layout. Knaresborough’s railway station and town scene were already the subject of a video by Pilentum Television. However, this version is digitally remastered with authentic rail sounds and Pilentum’s unique musical melodies.
Have a nice Saint Nicholas Day, and enjoy the Feast of Saint Nicholas with your family!

This is stunning. The attention to detail and the architecture is simply mesmerising. Wonderful!
The streets look nice and clean, its the only give away.
Trains running on time is another
I often wonder, when does a model railway becomes more a model village that happens to have a railway. Awesome modelling all round though.
WOW, love your intelligent answer to that Sir and agree and the details? Amazing 🇬🇧🇨🇩
Those buildings are superb. Who ever built those is a craftsman. Lovely modelling throughout. 👏👏👏
I have been dreaming of a layout since I abandoned mine at ag 13. Now at 66, I am finally building a new one. After researching, IMO, nothing compares to the British stuff. It is all gorgeous and makes me wish I lived there.
I think I know which house I want to move into. Oh, wait........
The detail is so realistic!
Brilliant, and I’m not even a train buff. I do appreciate the work and dedication that has gone into this. Well done 👍
Thanks!
This is a labour of love. I think I would like to live in this little world: the one we're stuck with right now is not quite so pleasant.
In all the model train videos I have watched ,this is the first where several comments have asked why no litter ? The layout is superb ,just enjoy it
Maybe because there is very little, if any litter, in this popular well cared for Yorkshire market town.
I've been subscribed long enough to know you never clickbait us! :D The modelling of the buildings is astonishing, and the end result is quite beautiful. Thank you for your work on the sound too!
How the hell has this clip had 166 dislikes?? It's fantastic. So realistic and detail is fantastic!
Only had one in 17 hours!
This is beyond beauty; this is glorious, this is epic.
Some people are so talented. It blows you away.
A feast for our eyes, wonderful details and a great video!
Absolutely brilliant love all the work that's gone into making this model railway
Reminds me of my dad when I was a child he took over the middle bedroom in the house and filled it with N gauge model trains
This is a brilliant video 👍🇬🇧
Wow and I'm certain you were excited at the opportunity to play with all the trains. Lucky you.
This video was so good that I would love to live here. Great design and detail. Enjoyed watching every minute of this one.
This is on a whole different level. Superb
Oh, dear. Confession time.
Something like 55 years ago, I lived in Starbeck and friends and I used to walk from Starbeck to Knaresborough from time to time. We lived in Fairways Ave and there was access to the fields , Starbeck side , via a public footpath over the golf course. You could get to the viaduct over the fields opposite he golf course, so we did. And then we would cross to Knaresborough over the Nidd viaduct along the railway line. I promise not to do it again.
It's really beautiful i can't imagine the hardwork someone put to achieve this wow truly amazing
It' looks wonderful. Something so good it makes you happy just to admire it.
Seen this layout a few times at shows...its utter stunning....layouts like this should be labeled as works of fine art.
Several years ago, after viewing an exquisite model railway layout, perfect in every detail, I commented to the owner/operator that it was a work of art. He got a bit upset and said no, it’s a model railway.
@@blackthorne57 lol...
Can confirm it's not realistic - the trains actually arrive...😉
On a series note, absolutely fantastic!
Thanks!
WOW was this Incredible and I did love your sound effects too well done on this video :)!!!! Take care:).
Thank you!
@@pilentum It was just great wow !!!!
Tim Dunn visited Knaresborough for his series 'The architecture the railways built' and it was instantly recognisable because I had previously seen this fantatastic layout.
I like how you have included the black & white chequered house which is by the side of the river in Knaresborough. Great attention to detail.
Saw it once at Wigan model railway show, awesome.Wow. 😮
Beautiful, well done, love it, I want to live there.
I do live in the real knaresborough this is a perfect recreation
That is incredible, it must have been a true labour of love!
Loved this layout when I saw it at exhibition. Looks exactly like Knaresborough. Beautiful work.
The title for this video is bang on! Loved hearing the birds in the background too.
Bom dia! Que lindo! ❤Parabéns pela Arte...😍😍😍
Incredible, such a realistic World even Gene Hunt would be impressed!
Stunning scratch building and the Sealed Knott enactment, well that is unique and really gone to town on it too. Looks like the railway plays second or third fiddle (got it no fiddle yard on this layout -its a loop) to the aforementioned! Yes been there boating and the missus used to ride her horse in those SK battles too. A very beautiful town and setting indeed, so life like, well done I am sure you have done Knaresborough proud and glad I stumbled on this! All the best Stephen
I live in Knaresborough and its really good to see this layout again. Very accurate and even the SK living history. I was in the knot for years and I think this is the first time they have been represented in model railway layout. Brilliant.
Enjoyed your video you put together. Loads going on. Thanks David.
Thanks very much for replying to my comment. It's nice to see other people's work to get idea to improve my Channel. Take Care & Stay Safe.
Petite balade Anglaise super sympa! Merci du partage! Stéph.
Magnificent just think of the painstaking hours it took to build this railway.wish i could be so clever.been watching it over and over many thanks for sharing with us.👍👍👍
Beautiful model! That must have taken so much work.
Also, I want to visit Knaresborough now. Looks like a nice place.
It is. One of my favourite days out.
Along the river in Knaresborough is magical
The railway line is the flat part. So there are some steep bits to the river but worth it for the canoe boats hired out ( in summer and no covid lockdown of course). Mother Shiptons cave is not far away too.
イギリスの風景を鉄道模型を通じて知ることができてすごく嬉しい。心がホッコリした😊✌✌
This is amazing!!! Just BEAUTIFUL!!!
The music suits it perfectly. Atmosphere is everything.
Looks so realistic. Great work!
Wow! Really impressive. So much details! Lots of inspiration. And really vood camera work too. Thanks for sharing!
just wonderful , colours are so good .
What would make 56 people down thumb this??? This layout is beautiful!
Loads of kids will click dislike by default without any thought behind it whatsoever. It's meaningless.
Simplesmente maravilhoso. Parabéns pelo seu excelente trabalho.
Awesome layout! Love the detail!
exhilarating video, thanks
Amazing layout! I was even looking for a Simon Pegg figure at 4:37
amazing mockup i loved your video
Exceptionally well modelled with a meticulous attention to detail. It would have been nice for me personally if a very specific time period had been chosen - the early 60s, say!
The only thing that would make this video better is to see a full shot of the WHOLE setup.
Why don't you visit the builder's website?
Now this lovely I have to admit. Also the footage is pretty cool ......... this really looks British....... nice well done, cheers from Berlin Germany 🇩🇪
The structures and detailing are fantastic. One nit, IMO, it looks too clean and neat to be truly realistic. Nevertheless, this is one exceptional layout from what is shown here.
This is exactly how I remember British Rail: Trains of 500 ft stopping at platforms of 150 ft. (Not joking!)
I know Knaresborough well - this is a cracking model. Maybe needs weathering a bit, but otherwise it’s totally recognisable!
Excelente videooooo 📹
Pura realidad.... Gran maqueta!
Saludos!
One question.
Do the trains run on time?
If the answer is yes.
Then this is in fact one of the most unrealistic British Railway models.
podziwiać można wykonaną pracę-super
It would be nice to see it led lighting at night.
Looks great 😃😃👍👍
At a certain point it’s basically a model city
Amazing video clip 👌
Great layout ,How long did this take to build ,Love the Village and Town Detail to the choice of models ❤️Hello from Scotland 🏴❤️
Nice! 👍
I love this
Brilliant!
Too bad the Twilight Zone isn't real, cause I want to live there. Nice work friend, it gave me a smile.
it is as it says on the tin. a real location
Again; I live here, it’s just like the model no “urban decay” that’s why I live here.
It is why I moved to North Yorkshire from a "slightly" worse environment.
Wonderful layout. I've seen it twice. I think I'm correct in saying it's stopped doing the circuit now.
It's incredible craftsmanship. The only issue is the road going into the sky at 5:00.
Could of done with some greenish water for the river scene under the bridge with people in the boat.
Perfection.
Beatiful went on vacation here a few years back. And can honestly say that this is realy close to reality. The only thing is that the signal box is a bit off but i realy dont mind.
Whats "off" with the signal box ? That is meant as a serious question as I have been driving trains in and out of Knaresborough for the last 20 years now but cannot put my finger on what detail you are reffering to , other than the missing toilet shed behind the wooden steps up to the box.
@@ianmorrison9715 well as i sead its not that big of a deal but in real life its a little darker brown and irl its a little bit tiltet to the river.
The footages are extremely good, but, roads, pavements, walls of the houses and so on are too clean. It seems as if no one ever touched them.
what are house prices like? I want to live there.
Its North Yorkshire. This part is expensive.
Fantastic 👌
Nice 👍🙏
GREAT JOB, VERY COOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!! BRAVISSIMO !!!!!!!!!!! THANKS RIO DE JANEIRO BRASIL
Great video, thank you! May I ask where the music at 0:20 is from?
The music is always self-composed my Markus Lenz, see www.pilentum.org/pilentum-model-trains
Fantastic modelling. But can someone please explain why the signals are the wrong way round? The red side of the 'home' signals should be facing the oncoming traffic, not the white side. A schoolboy error that seems incongruous in the otherwise highly realistic environment.
Very good question. Any answer?
@@pilentum If you look at actual pictures (on Flickr) of Knaresborough, it is consistent with the prototype.
イギリスでは「ネルズバラ」と読みます。以前訪ねたことがあり、アーチ型の鉄道橋や、実際の街並みがかなり忠実に再現されていますね。
見てくれてありがとう!
wow!
are all those sounds part of model or are they only in video ?
those are real train sounds dubbed over
I remember that Father And I wating cousin at home station .
Were do you get those figures the mini ones

To all the people commenting that this model is missing litter, graffiti, homeless people, etc - this is a model of Knaresborough, it’s a beautiful, well cared for little town which attracts lots of tourists. It doesn’t look like a busy city centre or some run down industrial area and really does look like this. A superb model
Correct that about Knaresborough. A pretty town, some great pubs.
👌👍
Looks more in the country than a city and we don't have graffiti and peeps on the streets. I think who ever made this is truly amazing wow. I'm not into trains, but love the fairy miniture world idea and think this truly beautiful ❤️
It’s a fantastic layout , one of the best I’ve probably seen , one question however, how do you know there are no homeless in knaresborough, and surely as beautiful as town as it is , there must be a bit of litter somewhere
Stuff the lack of people, homeless or not:
Lack of litter be damned!
Where's the weather?
The people of the village gradually became suspicious of their circumstance when a young bloke from one of the local families attempted to go swimming in the river, only to find, to his utter confusion, that all the water was solid resin. To the townspeople's horror, they finally realized the explanation for why the train never really went anywhere and always carried them back to the same place.
Just a bit like the “Truman Show” 😁
That old lady writing "HELP" on the kitchen window
..sad
You must be a poet to "paint" those words. ThumbUPPP
Groundhog day, plus its freezing in winter so the water was iced over.
Cue "Twilight Zone" music
Why is there never a shot of the complete layout? As much as i like the details and realistic angles, as much i want to see the complete layout.
I agree. I would love to see a shot of the complete layout!
The architectural detail is stunning. Bravo.
This is a beautiful layout. PILENTUM, you always know how to show off a great layout. I would like to suggest that there be some kind of establishing shot, so we can get an idea of the grander design rather than only these small otherwise unconnected point of interest shots. I really enjoy your videos. Regarding this one, is the audio from live trains that you have dubbed on or is it Digital sound?
It is quite stunning, and a lovely and idyllic recreation; but some of the comments here are so ignorant. There is no inadequate fool like a social media inadequate fool trying to compensate for their sad little lives!
It's so realistic that everyone is on strike and most of the services are cancelled 😂😂😂
Pete Goss should be justifiably proud of this work. The detail is fantastic and the skill needed
to achieve that detail, greater still.
I might be a little biased as Knaresborough is my home town, but i think this is one of the finest layouts i've seen
As a resident of Knaresborough I can say that this is awesome and incredibly accurate.
My mind is BLOWN! seriously wonderful! the little light flashing on the last cart..the art shop with all the pictures inside..The sounds of the metal tracks and air brakes! phenominal! I could mess about with this for hours on end. very very well done!
Expertise shown here is phenomenal and yes, Knaresborough is a really beautiful place ❤
put a tiny cam in a passenger window
Next time...
Oh I just love these sets. The care and attention to detail just amazes me. Little ideal worlds. Perfection. A break from life’s too often sad realities.🙏👍
This is the most beautiful model railway I have ever seen. The detail is incredible! It reminds me of the England I left 44 years ago.
Absolutely brilliant , such detail and fine workmanship.
