I’m 75% certain that Santa’s beard was never used in the sea!! But it makes perfect spewm from the sea splashing against the cliff edge!! Well done!!

Been along the sea wall at Dawlish hauled by Class 50's in the 80's when on occasions the spray from the waves went over the tops of the coaches. No having to cancel the servicethen because of bad weather! All the best withthe lauout.

It would be nice if Hornby could lend you one of their HST sets for the show in my home town of Doncaster in 3 weeks time -c that would be great to see?

Pity that we can't build actual railways like the essential HS2& HS3 and Cross rail and Northern hub rail built to the standard of some our model railways, and try and catch up with Continental rail networks

Dawlish is a very nice place to make a layout based on. The station is actually Dawlish Warren, and it’s right by the seaside.

Dawlish Warren is the next stop along the line from Dawlish, heading to Exeter St David's Station. Dawlish station is right next to the sea, so I am assuming that's the one you are thinking of? It would look great as part of a model layout.

@@8mmfilmfan I think it might very well be. But there again, I haven’t travelled on this line since I was a tiny boy!! My parents always took the car on holiday and we only used the train to get to Glasgow to see my uncle.

Dawlish Station is NOT at the Warren. That is a separate station

I know that section of the sea wall between The Parson & Teignmouth very well.
But in my opinion, it's rather featureless, apart from the towering rock face at the back.
Although it may be graphically correct, there's not much to grab the attention of the model exhibition spectator for more than a minute or two.
Much better to model the area from the Warren approaches, past Dawish Station and along Dawish Esplanade to the first tunnel, during Sunny Summer Saturdays in the 1950s - in my opinion.
That way, there's far more opportunity to capture plenty of 'seaside' interest and Dawish Station with it's 'undecroft' bridge to the jetty & beach, would look magnificent.

Alas the stock would never match that period, if only. HSTs in theory were the thing to use from day 1, but we're scuppered there now as well for Doncaster. We looked at Dawlish itself and most of our early site research was there, without extensive 3D printing it would be difficult to do it justice. The Parson and Clerk tunnel and the Teignmouth curve hide the tight access to fiddle yard and we hope the swap out of calm and rough seas portraying the build up of the Great Storm of 1987 will give folks a reason to revist Am / Pm at show.

There are two Market Deepings in this glorious country. One in Norfolk and one in the West Country. Which one is this?

I'm sure it's supposed to be the eastern approach to Teignmouth not Dawlish 😂😂😂
