First: Sorry for the cringe thumbnail. Ugh. Thanks for watching! Should "Back to the Mac" be a permanent weekly video series? Yes or no? As with all Back to the Mac episodes, we have a Mac-centric giveaway. This time we're giving away the CalDigit Tuff Nano Drive, watch the video for details on how to enter. Thanks again.
Weekly or biweekly wouldn't be a bad option.
Once in two weeks should be good !
Yes! Great!
9to5Mac very interested in a full review of the Squid, please.
Yes, I learn so much from your vids
Mac Pro with 384GB of Ram
Chrome: It’s free Real Estate
Would love it if you made "Back to the Mac" a weekly series, especially now that we have the Mac Pro and 16" MBP.
Nice upgrades! good to see more and more options.
I wish that the Mac Pro came out 2 months earlier before I got my iMac Pro😭 it’s definitely overkill for the work I do but the fact that you can always upgrade it for years to come is amazing! I’m sticking with my iMac Pro but I’m still gonna watch videos like these cause it’s awesome!
I always learn a ton from your videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and perspective.
This is the info I was searching for. Thank you so much!!!
Crazy and unbelievable updates. Your machine will fly like a rocket!
Love what you did here with your mac, I will do it too in the future after I buy one. Love your site, lots of great information.
I love your upgradation. I could be able to see how mac has developed its product so cool from inside. Upgrading ram is so cool in pro.
It’s your hard earned cash, and nobody should ever tell you what to do with it!
I guess the point I was trying to make was that the Mac Pro is *far* from a "need" to get work done, and I don't want to make viewers feel like they need it, because in all honestly, it's not necessary when perfectly competent machines like the iMac Pro or even the regular iMac/MacBook Pro exist. This is a niche machine, after all, and in some cases, the machines I just listed are ironically better machines for certain jobs, not even considering the price. That all being said, the Mac Pro is very helpful for my particular needs, and actually speeds up my work and makes me more efficient. But I understand that as a video creator dealing with very large video streams, I'm in the minority. It all depends on your needs and, most importantly, your budget. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thanks Jeff for taking time to respond. To us (a tiny 2k Sub channel🤦♂️), you are a Giant in this UA-cam community and we are huge fans. We respect and understand why you caution us, your viewers, towards not going out to buy the biggest and baddest Mac Pro in 2020. You are just being very honest and balanced with your advice. Anyways we want to wish you all the best for 2020🥳, and we hope you get every chance to crank out lots of videos from that Beast of a Mac. 🙌
Agreed !!! 👍👍
@@JeremyToh I'm far from a giant, but I really appreciate the kind feedback. Thanks for watching, and keep going with your channel making stuff you enjoy making.
@Abhishek Dubey Final Cut isn't a single use case. Depends on the codec, the resolution, bitrate, framerate, and kinds of edits. Are you just cutting, or are you also doing optical flow analysis for interpolating motion? Are you doing 3D CGI inserts? Are you cutting a feature length film or a 20 second ad? It's all vastly different. Final Cut is very efficient though, and frankly a 12" MacBook can do simple edits in 4K better than some workstations can I Premiere.
Still trying to make a storage decision myself before I buy the new Mac Pro. Thanks for the videos.
This upgrade was definitely one of the better upgrades I’ve seen lately. Well done!
Awesome video! Good luck with your new upgrades 😊
That was awesome! Great job Jeff! Really makes the Mac Pro more future proof!
That system is an absolute beast. Nice! Thanks for the video.
Jeff, would love to see a review on both the pcie board and the sabrent m.2's.
Great video… please do a full review…I am about to purchase a Mac Pro and your videos have been invaluable !thanks
Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial
Pretty awesome setup you have there
I didn't know how to check the swap memory part!!
thank you!!
I'm using a mac mini with an egpu just like you've showed!!
you rock!! amfeltec surely knows how to keep their game standing strong!!
Thanks for all the info you provide for us. I ended up going with the 12 core and 2TB SSD (just in case) and then added another 32GB from Nemix due to your previous recommendation.
Love the videos man, thank you for the quality. I unfortunately have one of very few macs where I cannot upgrade the old ram 😔. Great video Jeff!
Awesome machine and video! Thanks Jeff!
Kick ass work as always. Thanks for the killer videos. 🤘🏽
Thanks for the upgrade segment.
Awesome video as always! Keep up the great videos.
Love your videos, Jeff. Awesome style and congrats with your killer Mac. Wow. Would love to see you test out different video cards also in Boot Camp. Thanks. I get sooo happy every time I see a new video from you 😎
Great vid. Informative as always.
Awesome SSD upgrade... I've been a Mac user since the early 80's and have been using my Maxed out 2010 Mac Pro seems like forever, and have been lusting after this New Beast since it was announced. It has been difficult to have patience, but I've been waiting to learn all about the current possibilities, and possible near future ones, before I jumped in... Your videos have been very helpful in educating and informing me about the certain pros and cons to the possible current configuration possibilities... I certainly wouldn't have imagined back in the early days, having a 24 TB SSD Raid Storage, or the possibilities of 1.5 TB of Ram, that is just insane! But I love dreaming about the possibilities, and hopefully my patience will pay off with possibly lower pricing on upgrades, and even more expansion possibilities to choose from... Thanks again, your efforts are greatly appreciated...!!!
Fantastic, this was very helpful !
Hi Jeff, its awesome and blessed to view this upgrade of your Mac.
24TB of ssd upgrade is superb.
copy of 500 gb data in 2mins and 27secs is wonderful that cant be imagined.
We usually copy it a day.
You are doing a great job.
God Bless
Thanks for that great video! I'd really want to see a full blown thest of this PCIe Card. Did you have to use this additional power adapter, or did you just plugin the card as it is. Also: What are the exact temperatures of the ssds?
Hi Jeff, you don't ever need to justify a purchase decision to anyone else. If you want it and you can afford it, you already deserve it. The bonus for me as a viewer is that I get to see these insanely high spec machines in a consumer environment being demoed by a professional UA-camr. Win, win.
I totally understand your opinion about the new Mac Pro and you should have it. I want to see more videos about how you expand that system
Great video man! 24 TB of SSD is insane!
congrats ! Whatever makes you happy man !
First time watching one of your videos - first of many more to come
That lil SSD though. In for it! Great video!
Awesome upgrade! So jealous!!!
That tuff drive looks cool. And its nice that it has a USB C to A cable too.
This video was pretty detailed and well made.👍
Awesome video! love the new mac pro because its finally an actual desktop.
Great video!... YES Back to the Mac every week!
Subscribed and commented. I really need the ssd for my old MacBook.
Great video. Thanks.
The upgrades look sweet
Great video! A comprehensive review video, especially with drive temps with and without the fans, would be amazing. Another video comparing this solution with the sonnet and the OWC options would also be awesome.
thanks for the video. Thats awesome.
I would love that cute small SSD thats great.
Thanks for the heads up about the ram. I was hoping to add to the existing 32GB in the Mac Pro I just purchased!
Your the best, you have to do what you want and not others great video and many thanks
Another great video Jeff. I like your upgrades and would at least get one myself.
Other than that, 24TB???
Back to the Mac should definitely be a weekly series. It’s filled with sooo many useful tips. 🖥
Thats really informative... well I'm eagerly waiting to invest on a mac pro for my post production company. This helps me a lot.
im impressed by the external ssd as well seems a good deal for macbook pro users.
Nice configuration!!!!
I would firmly like to see the review of the amfletec squid board! Love the content!
Please do an in-depth review in the Squid card, how did it effect temps and fan noise?
yes please
A big yes on a review of the squid. I love your vids!
Awesome review
I just love this series! Just make it weekly please 🤩 And thanks for the giveaways, good job man!
Thank you Jeff for upgrading your Mac Pro 2019 and letting us be part of it. A burning question and burning the question is - what where the temperature stats for your 24 TB SSD? After using the storage controller for more then two weeks how does the adhesive of the heatsinks develop? Thanks and if you are into an in depth review of your 24 TB SSD set-up grateful to see that.
Great video Jeff. A little over the top but I can dig it!
Loving the Mac Pro coverage. The great thing about having all that RAM and storage is longevity. I bought a Mac Pro back in 2008 with what was at the time a ridiculous spec regarding memory. That Mac Pro is still serving me well today.
Yes! 'Back to the Mac' should be a permanent staple! It was really enjoyable to watch the upgrades to the beast of a Mac you're putting together! Definitely look forward to a deep dive on the "Squid" and any other capabilities it has. I also wouldn't mind rocking that SSD in your giveaway! I am using a 128GB 2019 MacBook Air and would love some external drive love that is super speedy! Always look forward to your videos Jeff, can't wait for the next one!
Love the upgrades 24TB WOW!!!!!
As always, great video!
Great video once again !
That's a hell of upgrade
Am loving the upgrades
It's nice to see how easy the new Mac Pro is to upgrade!
Es Increíble ese maquinon y cuantos desearíamos tenerlo aún que sea stock y obvio concursar y ganar ..!
I like the idea of a weekly series "Back to the Mac" I like that you did not take the money is no object approach and went the sensible route - well sensible as you can for a very expensive machine. I love the expand-ability of the current gen Mac Pro. Love your videos.
Thanks, I've been waiting for some upgrade paths before pulling the trigger on the new MP19. It's definitely a need in my studio but I'm also not minted with cash, so seeing real-world upgrade paths like the squid and the convo regarding LR vs R dimms was SUPER helpful!! I think this machine is more than I want to pay for but DEFINITELY has some breathing roof for future growth and upgrades... until apple moves back to ARM chips for everything.
That’s amazing overkill!!
Hey Jeff, I really need that drive to help my workflow. I’ve been looking at getting back into photography and could desperately use some solid external storage.
Also, keep the iMac Pro updates videos coming!!! Thanks 🙏
I love your Videos! thanks for the review. It would suit me great with my new 16" MacBook :D
Always enjoy your videos, Jeff! 👍🏽
Awesome review!
A Mac I could only dream about lol. Great vid as always, thanks!
Nice upgrade
More Ram than what I have as ssd in my laptop. Just insane and amazing
Awesome . I would like that nano add😁
I love my new Mac Pro at work. its really a beast and you really need a lot of hard work to get the Mac Pro down.
can't wait for see more videos about ut.
And who doesn't like upgrading? I mean. More Power!!
🙏🏼 I learned so much from your videos!..
awsome review
Nice Video. Very informative. The Mac Pro really a beast. 🐲
Wow, I think that you have a great Mac Pro. I like the way you upgraded the SSD. Like to know how will in processes your videos. Thanks.
Awesome video as usual.
Beast! I have a 16” MacBook Pro on my wishlist for 2020, not one of these monsters tho. Editing all my UA-cam videos on my iPad Pro now but gonna wanna upgrade eventually
Very good video man. Thanks for all the information. Can you do a video running heavy plugins (like omnisphere, kontakt, uvi falcon) on Logic Pro X to try to stress the CPU to know how much it handles?
I agree !! yes expandability. 👍👍 I really want one too for that reason, however, due to my current budget, I can't right now. plus my current 2010 mac pro is still very useful, fast & also expandable ... So yeah, Someday I'll major upgrade! 👌 ... (Also, great video! enjoyed it). and congrats on your mac pro!! it's awesome 👌.
yes please, i want to see a full review of this boy)
Thanks for this!
Curious to see this comparing to Sonnet 4 nvme card. See temperature differences between fans on/off. And different RAID configs? How fast is raid 5? What about 10?
Love your videos Jeff, the upgrades were really interesting and the speed of your 24TB SSD is insane, and 384Gb wow, perhaps even photoshop might run without using a scratch drive :-)
I'd love to see an in depth review on the Squid!
just love your videos bro. and ya your awesome voice :)
Thanks for the video, Jeff! Looks like you won’t have to upgrade for a long time. Who am I kidding...
I ordered the same configuration. I intend to purchase 192GB of Nemix RAM, and am anxiously awaiting the W5700X.
Ur money ur choice.... u worked hard for it. There is nothing better than do as u feel when u feel like it. Good on u!
Please keep making this type of videos Jeff!!
Awesome video Jeff! I myself have a Mac Pro beast.. I haven't made a YT video about it yet, it's coming.. similar config to yours. 3.2GHz 16 core, 384 gb ram, AMD Radeon Pro Vega II Duo, Promise internal raid. Thing is a monster. :D . Keep kicking butt! Thanks for the videos! - JD
