I love how the DB take a song w/ a Gospel style organ opening, a soul song then they have Patrick Simmons and John McFee rock out 🎸 on the guitar, let the saxophone wail, the drums pound and with Michael McDonald’s iconic voice, it’s musical mastery. 🎹🎶
This song sounds way better live in concert than it does on the album - way more energy, thicker bass, and having Simmons + McFee rock out in the second half outro takes it to another level and makes it sound more a like a true DB song vs a Michael McDonald single
In 1979 I was driving a tractor trailer on A1A in south florida. This song came on to the intro "You're headed south on A1A with the Doobie Brothers!" It became my "driving song" . Thanks Doobies; For a memorable time.
I grew up on this music and you guys still sound amazing!!! A shout out to Michael you sound phenomenal and look great keep up the amazing work it's always great to see you preform!!!❤🙏
I took my TIME and learned how to play this song on my Organ/Keyboard/Piano. You simply have to know how to read music in order to master this composition. For any musician that wants a challenge with their music, pull this tutorial up and go for it.
The Doobies where wonderful before Michael joined then they changed into this!!!, how amazing is that, a band that releases perfect albums as well as stunning performances like this
Most people forget how people who grew up in the South Bay grew up listening to soul music and Motown and all that kind of music at the very time people were rocking out and playing guitar heavy music. Tom Johnson and the rest of the band, I mean listen to Tyrone solo work, they had roots in this kind of music. It fit into their souls, their musical souls.
What stands out of all these superb musicians is that their ego's are not standing in their way like the punks today. If the song is not theirs, they stay low profile (seen in several jam/ music sessions). Kenny Loggins for example stays at the background and many musicians in other sessions like David Foster, the late James Ingram, Christopher Cross, Doobies, Hall & Oates etc. Very rare seen nowadays...
@@isaiahmarquez9717 when he said brother hes talkin about making him an honorary black man basically lmao, because most people like my parents included when they first heard Mike they thought he was black.
@@OmarCrz06 It's shame Skylark had to leave the group due to health issues. He was one hell of a bass man. Saw them twice with him. One of the best in the biz!
I wasn’t able to listen to this song. No one was parading around the stage in scantily clad clothing that’s borderline perversion. It was impossible to listen to because there wasn’t 15 stage dancers & laser beams with pyrotechnics going off. Don’t people realize that playing amazing timeless musical compositions and singers with impeccable harmonies is so outdated now-a-days? We don’t want talent!!! We want visuals of beautiful people with minuscule actual musical talent & for Pete’s Sake……please make it offensive to at least half the audience so they have something to complain about!!! Enough with these quality Doobie Brothers bands!!! We want Musical Mediocrity!!! 😜
The Doobie Bros were a great rock & roll band until they brought in McDonald... which turned them into an MOR pop act. Horrible voice and way too much exposure... even with Steely Dan.

I can listen to the man sing every single day. This is some beautiful, good music. And add Michael's golden, phenomenal pipes and it's over!
I love Michael Mc Donald's voice

Love this story man. I wish i had experienced the 70s and 80s
👏👏 I listen to this great singer every day.. What a voice... So handsome!!
Magnificent Masterpiece, proud fan since 1970, outstanding music
I love the Doobie Brothers!! The music is awesome and the singing!!!!!!
when this was released it was on the radio all the time....everyone stopped talking and listened.
Wow, his voice at 2:25 is still revealing new powers. Belt that soul, man!
love that piano intro.
and that bass is splendid too
Love seeing Big Mike and Keith back there!! These were the good ol' days!!
Amazing voice! Saw them live in Sydney last year and they were brilliant ❤

Undisputed!!!! Big Mike still got it!!!@
I've never really listen to Michael but I love this song.
As far as the absolute best 5 part harmonies in the business, I would have to say it's a tie between The Eagles and The Doobie Brothers!!!
Michael McDonald man, I haven't heard this in years!
Notice Kenny Loggins singing back-up at the far left in the background.
Yeah...you can see him cleary at 03:20
You can faintly hear him too
Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald are 2 peas in a pod.
2020...🎶Pandemic jamming...at the crib....😷‼️ Never gets old....yassssssssssass
I love this song by Michael McDonald and the Doobie Brothers !!! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
I haven't heard this song like 48 minutes!
You don't get the set I'll throw in the DVD😂😂
I would have been going to see them perform live tomorrow night were it not for Covid-19. The tour will be rescheduled next year, I'll be there.
I was going to see them in Memphis last year. My son was going to play sax but this year no Memphis and no Art Edmaiston. 😞
I have tickets for 6/10/22 in No Va! Yippee!

I love Michael McDonald with Doobie Brothers. I wish their friendship will be forever. Besides, I hope to see him later in Korea.

Interesting story how Michael became a member of the band. Check it out
All thanks to Skunk and Steely Dan
The Doobies where wonderful before Michael joined then they changed into this!!!, how amazing is that, a band that releases perfect albums as well as stunning performances like this
They went back to obscurity after Michael left them.
The Doobies were a kick ass rock band before boring McDonald entered the picture.
I love Michael Mcdonald
Doobies just jamming ✌👌✊ class act, from time 👏 👌 🙌
I wish Michael and Tom did more collaborating in the band. Every album would be a mix of both styles.
saw him last night. sounds better if you can believe it!
As tight as the record,legends.

They much better together.
Esta musica emociona y despierta sentimientos extraños, como de algo lejano, un atardecer, etc
Funky! Enough said.
Soul man Soul

Michael Mcdonald -AMAZING!!!
I love them since i was a little girl and still do
Skylark, my friend from Santa Cruz!
SKY..LARK..YEA..LOVE IT
How about making Mike an Honorary Brother. Trade Tiger for Mike any day.
Mike? As in Michael McDonald???? HE IS A DOOBIE BROTHER. Nothing “honorary” about it. What planet have you been living on?

I would listen to a 5min song of just that intro repeating
Im going to take some time using music editing software to do just that.
I can tell this was either 2000 or 2001, Motifs weren't out yet. There were Yamaha EX5's.
The Original Silver Fox🔥
A great artist, and a great singer, once. His vocals are showing wear and tear at this point.
My boys!
anyone have the link for the way better live version of this song?
Wow 😍😍😍😍
Still got it!
Michael McDonald in the House!!! Holla!!😘✌️🥰❤️
Amazing!
Ditto, S W, ditto! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
