Howdy, folks! Well, mistakes happen, and we got it wrong on this video. Horsepower is indeed 444 in Competition Package-equipped M4s, NOT 425 as indicated. Also, a carbon fiber drive shaft is no longer offered, replaced a year or so ago with a more conventional unit. Curiously, our test model featured 19-inch wheels, rather than 20s. It’s NO excuse, but we were going off faulty information with this review, outdated press information from the BMW media site. Lastly, a big THANK YOU to commenter luimarco for pointing these issues out.

Drive Shaft is no longer made of Carbon Fiber in 2017 ans 2018 M4 Models..... at 2:17 again another mistake this is a Competition pack model thus having 444hp not 425hp ,,,,,, 7:38 the comp pack does not give you 19" wheels and adaptive dampers , these are available on the base model, hell the 19" wheels are standard. comp pack gives 20" unless u don't want them . it gives more power, different exhaust and different chassis and damper setting

If that's your priority stick with your Prius. OH...and the cup holders are rubbish too! It's not new that some of the options are ridiculously priced but it doesn't define the car. My problem with it is the E-steering is not refined yet, THAT is likely a deal breaker as a BM is nothing if not one of the best handling and driver cars available.
I just think it's silly to right off an option for a trivial reason like that, overall price matters, reliability, etc. I don't care how much the OEM profits from it as long as it's worth it to me. But I don't buy new cars either, let depreciation cut the value in half first, do my own maintenance. I have an old E46 330 that has never let me down and not cost much in 12 yr.s I have run it fairly hard but it's a "wannabe M3", good car but no longer excites me, lacks the crucial limited slip diff and so on...so early this yr. I spent over a month shopping the entire West Coast to find what I really wanted--an E92 M3 manual with low miles. It will cost considerably more to operate but I'll save it for weekends and road trips mostly, absolutely love driving it. A big step between E46 and E92 in terms of advancements. (Pardon previous the snide comment)

James, I'm not, I actually just don't really don't feel myself drawn to the car in general. I prefer the styling of the E46 and previous. And I don't know if I'd ever own a BMW due to the potential for costly repairs (I'm not slighting BMW, it's just a reality that things can go wrong and if they do it's probably not cheap). I'm a bit too frugal I suppose. I would love a 3 or 5 wagon from the early 2000s, though.
Good review overall. But the rated fuel economy is way off from real world. To anyone curious about buying an m4 and thinking itll use up alot of fuel - youre in luck it doesnt use much lol. I have averaged 6.1L/100km(38.55mpg) at speed of avg speed of 115kph. As for city expect around 9L/100km( 26.1mpg). And of course driveshaft is not carbon. Pretty sure this is is also comp pack judging by seat belts, muffler and seats. This means youre off on figures of power but nbd.
austin yellow or that crazy electric blue color are the best colors for this car in my opinion.Such a great looking car and honestly they all sound different depending on exhaust some sound weird and some great but in person they do sound better then on video...I hear traction is a huge issue in first and second gear with these tho

Yeah no lol engines are sadly getting smaller if anything the next engine will be the same and assisted by batteries. Also a V10 would be overkill in a car like this. In my opinion a 4.0 twin turbo V8 would of made a better engine for this current generation of F8X BMW's.
I had one... for a year. but I rarely saw it. It was in the shop most of the time. Then BMW gave me back my money and lemoned the car. I would rather take the Alfa, and be surprised, because I know exactly how ugly the bimmer is.
The days when an Alfa broke down before the day's end are long gone!!! The Gulia kicks this bimmer's ass anytime, any day anywhere for less money and with a carbon fiber drive shaft!!!
Very tacky interior for a luxury sports coupe. Also larger than I thought it was in person. I agree with getting the M2; much better looking even though it still has a tacky interior and it has better proportions. I'd also take a Mustang over this car.
I drove this on a track and found the experience to be quite sterile..like playing Playstation. The acceleration is drama free, the shifts are drama free, you turn the wheel and it corners. Where is the fun in any of this? Maybe I'm just weird. I guess I had traction control on but I never saw the light pop up so I assume it wasn't kicking in, I didn't wanna go around the track like a maniac either
Why would you wanna say this ride gone be spending half its time in a mechanic's garage for? Yo bmw is actually known to be very high rated in reliability on the contrary, I suggest you do some research
no research needed when u own BMW, u know he was very right. nothing but problems and servicing. that goes for majority BMW's out there..one of the worse reliability of them all even tho, the ratings dont show it. i can tell first hand....ownership cost is ridiculous.
the root cause Wrong as the new models are among the most reliable cars ever produced in the sports car industry. Secondly they are covered bumper to bumper for 4 years with another 3 years if you get a CPO car. Which is funny given that the average owner has the car for 3 years. This is why we have actual data not opinions as the basis for facts.
M5 IS also alot more dough. This m car actually affordable for us mere mortals. That's if you just stick with the competition package only and not go with the 8k option brake pacakage.
