I would definitely recommend finding an open parking lot and getting to know your traction limits better, itll make you feel much safer pushing your limits later.
Will agree with you on the turning radius - it's terrible! For traction, you must go with at least Pilot Sport 4 S or Cup 2 tires - Super Sports don't cut it. I drive with all traction control completely off and do not have traction issues, tho my car is a manual. Very first mod I did to the car was cold start delete via MHD tune. Thanks - good video, man!
Super sports are stickier than 4S...hence being a “summer only tire” while 4S is all season. Cup 2 is by far the stickiest tire, basically a circuit racing tire
@@isogamer12 Both are labeled 'max performance summer' tires and have the same 300 treadwear rating. Granted, the set of Super Sports I had was at less than 50% - they came with a set of used 666 wheels I bought - so maybe not a fair comp. I'm super happy with the S4's - except for the price 🙂
Interesting. I rented a BMW M4 this past weekend in LA. I was taken aback as to the time it took to warm up. Thought something was wrong with the car at first.
I lived in South Africa, a country which is very hard on cars. It was rare to see a BMW more than 6 years old. Mercedes and Toyotas were still running strong after 20 years!

I don't keep my car's in the garage, I drive them! including winter time! I wanted a straight line car. I found a really good deal on a GT-R that was local! so I bought it!, pretty happy about it. Each time I get an Audi or BMW I don't keep it for too long! :-/ I'm awd turbo guy for sure! oh yeah the car threw drivetrain code ones but it went away! car had 50k miles when I got rid of it.
True. I had the manual as well for almost 5 years. Even with the best tires and all traction controls off it was hard, basically impossible to put down all the power.

My friend just bought a used one of these. Its stock. He said he was gonna get a downpipe. I had a turbo german car bitd and advised him not to modify it if he wanted to keep that low torque curve. When i upgraded just my intake on my turbo the torque band was ruined then had to get many things to get back to acceptable. German turbo cars are finely tuned and once you mess with them they almost always run worse. Ive found turbo cars are way funner with the big torque starting low on the rpm. Otherwise you have to rev up all high and it just looses grip.
@@JusZard He was saying he doesn't like steering wheel mounted paddles for when he's turning. Shifting with the console shifter is easier than having to keep track of where the paddles are on the steering wheel when making 90 degree or more turns.
ONE THING TO BE ADDED AND UNDERSTOOD, THE FACT THAT IT HAS A LOW RADIUS TURN IS BECAUSE IT WAS NOT BUILD TO TURN, THIS CAR DRIFTS, SO YOU TURN THE CAR BUILDING REVS AND DRIFTING SAME AS U DID WHEN U TURN LEFT EXPLAINING THE HIGH ENGINE TORQUE. LIKE THAT AWE EXHAUST
The iDrive system works great. If you have to reconnect it every week you should probably check your Head Unit or iPhone. iPhone is struggling with iDrive systems all the time... I don´t know why. You could try to update your iDrive so psz Data, that should help you out a lot
so you did a whole video about 5 minor things: the long cold start (is 2 minutes even long? anybody with a sports car never pulls straight out of the driveway, i always let mine drop to 600 rpms before I pull out unless I'm in a rush) the windows squealing which you said is easily fixed with some product (any high end car owner takes care of their vehicle regularly) a bad turn radius, when many cars have much worse and you can easily get used to, and then torque curve, also known as turbo lag, which pushes power to the wheels at different times on any car with a turbo depending on the air flow and the gear you're in, (at least any car under $300k+)? I have a 435i which is the little brother, and even I lose traction on the turbo lag sometimes where my wheels will spin when the gears change, (you can also turn traction control on at all times) and then lastly you can easily fix the bluetooth issue by a. plugging in your phone, or having a mechanic reset the software. like you sat there and said how awesome it was, and even showed a random dude coming up saying how hard it is. Just seems like you're reaching. You even said how nice everything is made and how much you love it. Come on brother. This shit is hard
I'm a German BMW owner in Germany and 1) the torque isn't unpredictable in this car, it's the complete opposite. Torque will always kick in since it's a supercharged engine but it has a smooth torque curve compared to some other supercharged cars and it will come always at the same rpm so it IS predictable. Don't buy a supercharged car at all if you don't want this behaviour. 2) shift paddles at the steering wheel are way more expensive to engineer and to fabric than static ones. They are made this way for a reason: it's track optimized, so you can still shift if your steering wheel is in 90°degrees. The only thing you mentioned I find annoying as well is the sound of the window. But you can solve that pretty easy.
Use silicone spray lubricant around your surrounds that contact the windows. Might need a few tins. Windows should run more easily. Will also act as a rain repellant.
What are you talking about cold start? You do not need to wait for revs to settle, you can, AND SHOULD go and drive right away because lubrication of the engine is much better when you drive compared to idle standstill. Keep the revs low until it reaches optimal temperature, but go drive straight away.
How many miles when you picked it up? And how many miles now? Any carbon deposit issues? Have you gone to get carbon cleaning and if so, can you feel a difference?
Hi, Other defects: Quality of the front windshield, to be changed every year Sound quality Front seats, leg extension not adjustable Heat, make it necessary to tint the windows Ceramic brakes dangerous in heavy rain BMW service void if optimizations performed
Did you do research prior to the purchased of the car? Inline 6 sounds can't compared with V8 or V10 N/A. I had a 18 F80 and BT connection worked perfect need to update your iDrive software. Only Ferrari and Aston Martin had their shifters mounted on steering column you won't find this feature on German cars.
These cars got wide front wheels, doesnt help with turning circle, the torque curve is peaky, its been retuned in the M4 comp, you can just have it tuned eith bmd3...yours sounds awesome tho
i am using F10 M5....i never had any issue with Bluetooth connectivity with my iphone ...the only issue that i agree is the paddle shift placement on the steering wheel. Its a pain when i am turning it completely...other then that....long cold start....not an issue even though my car paired with meisterschaft exhaust...i just love to hear the loud rumbling cold start...just to annoy my neighbors :)
Great review. Although this was supposed to be things to dislike I still enjoyed the vid. BTW, I have a M4 pushin 750 hp 710 to the wheel and I was able to correct all those minor things with proper tuning minus the turning radius.
i didnt have the problem with my idrive but i had and 2014 f31 320d, and i have andriod, only problem i had it didnt show what song was playing on the idrive
When you talk about disconnecting/reconnecting your phone to play music all you have to do is press “radio” then go back to media and bam.. music will play
Some of your complains don't make a lot of sense to me. The paddle shifters are good the way they are, if you drive with your hands on them they are always available when u turn, for parking manoeuvres use the shifter, this way you won't get mixed up. Turning radius like many said before just use that torque. The cold start with mine is ok, I have the stock configuration. Love this car, mine is a F80.
My M5 f10 cold start had 2 levels..idles high for about 15 secs then drops a bit for another minute before valves open on exhaust then normal idle. Thing is when the car is sat for a while after use it does the same but the second drop lasts for a good 2 mins or more before valves open. You can drive off but it's a bit jerky as the revs are pushing you along through gear changes until valves open again. This has got progressively longer as the car has got older...not a major issue just gets a bit tiresome sat there when you just want to get moving. Not sure what causes it but guess it's age/wear on some component?
If you have the music/media connected via bluetooth, it will work fine, until you connect it with the iphone cable. Once connected with the iphone cable, you must either disconnect and re-connect the phone, but much easier, you can hit the options button when your phone is highlighted in the bluetooth menu, and just re enable the media directly rather than having to disconnect and reconnect the phone.
I hate the turning radius, I hate the high maintenance costs especially if you take it to the STEALership. I hate the Brake Dust from the Carbon Ceramic Brakes.. I hate having to reach back 2 miles to grab NY seat belt.....this car definitely needs that Seatbelt Butler thingy. I hate the stock exhaust sound, that will be my next mod. Love your channel Bruh
dumb question since i dont know lot of stuff about cars. but the cold start. Cant you rev it to warm it faster up to make it shorter ? probably gonna get a lot of flak or hate for this question. but i dont know cars to much
If your phone doesnt play music on your idrive system all you gotta do is hold the volume button down for two minutes. Let your idrive refresh. It will fix everything. DO NOT disconnect your phone.
I love the cold start! It is long because there is so much involve with the engineering in how it warms up all the oil through out the engine. Moreover, you can technically drive during the cold start mode but you'll notice your rev limited "red line is temp" shorter like 4,000 rpm so you dont damage the engine. If you abuse it- it will leak oil cause the pressure is balance and warmed up yet. (the famous oil leak!) So, yes always let the car warm up.
What should I expect to pay for a 2017 M4 cab with electronic steering wheel, comp 666 wheels, carplay with 61k miles? .. history shows 4 owners and 2 minor accidents (360 inspection passed)
I appreciate the video, but I wouldn’t find any of these things annoying or hateful as my M car is a weekend car. Warm up I do 2 min for every car I own. Squeaky window I could fix that in 2 min. Turning circle might annoy me a little. M4 badge on seats- put some clear vinyl sticker on them. Blue tooth connection yeah my 5 series does this too, Too much torque - no such thing sorry, but I wouldn’t be smashing the loud pedal as often as you.
I would dump that tune and get a proper one. You can seriously make this car into and absolute pleasure to drive with a $1K tune. I would personally get a different exhaust also. Otherwise I can seriously agree with all your issues. Great vid.
for me as german a big issue is the tank volume. if often have to move from hamburg to berlin which ist 300km, you have to re fuel it when you go the 296km/h with the competition. the tank is so small, that 160km before berlin the reserve lamp starts to blink. due to that re fueling i'm loosing 10minutes. so if you take a normal car, with half the power you will reach berlin without re-filling and then it takes in average the same time. so an M4 helps me not, to save time even it's a super fast car xD only the M2 competition is more ridiculous with it's 52liters tank :D

Not worth pushing this very powerful car to hard...can be very expensive ;)
All in all, I absolutely love my car and I hope that you get as much joy out of yours! Cheers! 🍻
PotEnza re did pretty well for me too in the summer
Super sports are stickier than 4S...hence being a “summer only tire” while 4S is all season. Cup 2 is by far the stickiest tire, basically a circuit racing tire
@@isogamer12 Both are labeled 'max performance summer' tires and have the same 300 treadwear rating. Granted, the set of Super Sports I had was at less than 50% - they came with a set of used 666 wheels I bought - so maybe not a fair comp. I'm super happy with the S4's - except for the price 🙂
Yeah if you’re catless..otherwise it will not like it
The late tale kick is the turbo lag. They can say "no lag" all they want, but I can feel it even on my 328i
Problem Number 2. The issue is the rubber that makes the seal around your windows. you need to re-oil the rubber seals.
Shhhh...leave the idiots to complain about non-issues. I stopped watching after that...
Interesting. I rented a BMW M4 this past weekend in LA. I was taken aback as to the time it took to warm up. Thought something was wrong with the car at first.
I lived in South Africa, a country which is very hard on cars. It was rare to see a BMW more than 6 years old. Mercedes and Toyotas were still running strong after 20 years!
even newer Mercs?
The Cape Town bras abuse those M’s 🤣
the popping of the exhaust would get too annoying after awhile
Something hysterical about the fact that the hud still shows the speed when the speedo is blurred out in some shots
Also when he tries to cover the license plate
I own a '15 435xd and i tought the bad turning radius was because it's xDrive? Turns out it's also bad on the M4.
Had mine for 2 years! got rid of it, stage 2 was fun, and manual trans - Car was putting good power but was never able to put it down, of course in rain it sucked, there was no first and second gear, it as the car would not hook! yeah I could go with better tires like R888R - but they would suck in rain!
@@ronaldo19832 i swear f8x could be such an amazing drift car.
@@StreetDrivenDaily you are right but I feel like they made it too heavy and big for what historically the m3 used to be. Every company is doing tho. The m2 cs I thunk it’s closest experience to a classic m3 handling and driving experience

Blurs speedometer but Heads-Up Display still shows it LMFAOOO
number seven can be fixed with better tires preferable ps4s or cup2 and/or boost reduction on first and second gear, can be done by bootmode but with better tires you won't need the boost reduction. I pull off first or second foot to the floor no traction lost. Im guessing you got the super sports on, first thing I changed when I bought mine.
Thanks man I appreciate it
What % are you running in 1st and 2nd
@@cudva12 I didn't need to I switched to the ps4s’s combined with Thor for the Euro MDM and Diff. if you want to do boost reduction on the first two gears just do 20-30% on first gear and 20% on second. btw my pulls from first and second on euro mdm once the tires are warmed up do not lose traction. I don't see the need for the cup2s, my buddys CS is on them and they feel just as good as the ps4s’s
@@cudva12 im on the comp wheels which is a bit wider but shouldn't make that big of a difference from the 19s. Thor is now able to flash the CS EDC, better rebounding feels more planted, even better for acceleration. Euro MDM is miles better than the US version they gave us
@@TheRealE39M5 it’s crazy you mention that because I have been looking at the diff flash and euro mdm for a week now and there isn’t much info on the diff flash. Is it that much of a difference?
I like how the shifters are on the steeringwheel
Rite it’s so when ur turning u don’t have to reach back for the paddle shifter
@@wes2473 yeah
Thats the worst thing about this car. Auto blows
@@roach902 yup. Auto on the DCTs is next to useless. It’s like trying to muzzle on a Rottweiler. It was actually quite good on the regular ZF8 autos though! But it’s actually almost dangerous on the dct 🤣 …slowing down at a junction then realising you didn’t need so you go back on the power and the ‘box is like, ..”urrrrrrm… right, one sec…urm..that one, nope, that one,” 😂
Is it original exhaust? Seems to be more loud than stock m3.
All good points, except the paddle shifter comment. M4 is for racing and tracking; most racers will rather have the paddle-shifters on the steering for easy access while turning while keeping full control of the steering. Conversely, having them on the column will leave you searching for the paddle shifter while turning. Now, on a
My friend just bought a used one of these.
I use the console shifter rather than paddles when I'm turning
What does have to with turning the car

He did a 3 point turn when he actually had enough clearance to just go on second spin
i threw up while laughing. you should see the parking lot of my local walmart. total gathering of the juggalos
The iDrive system works great. If you have to reconnect it every week you should probably check your Head Unit or iPhone. iPhone is struggling with iDrive systems all the time... I don´t know why. You could try to update your iDrive so psz Data, that should help you out a lot
I thought about going with the M4 but ended up going with the 435xi (F33) as my weekender. TBH, I enjoy my 4 Runner more. I enjoy your videos, thanks!
You have an amazing chanel bro, I currently have the 2020 F32 440i coupe, i just installed the sports cat with MST intake on stage 2 tune.
so you did a whole video about 5 minor things: the long cold start (is 2 minutes even long? anybody with a sports car never pulls straight out of the driveway, i always let mine drop to 600 rpms before I pull out unless I'm in a rush) the windows squealing which you said is easily fixed with some product (any high end car owner takes care of their vehicle regularly) a bad turn radius, when many cars have much worse and you can easily get used to, and then torque curve, also known as turbo lag, which pushes power to the wheels at different times on any car with a turbo depending on the air flow and the gear you're in, (at least any car under $300k+)?
I like how you blurred the speed dial yet it’s all there on the head up display 🤣
What are you talking about cold start? You do not need to wait for revs to settle, you can, AND SHOULD go and drive right away because lubrication of the engine is much better when you drive compared to idle standstill. Keep the revs low until it reaches optimal temperature, but go drive straight away.
My z4 never had any issues with the idrive.
Never to disconnect and reconnect
How many miles when you picked it up? And how many miles now? Any carbon deposit issues? Have you gone to get carbon cleaning and if so, can you feel a difference?
hey btw that radio music thing. all you have to do is click menu then go to radio, then back to mutlimedia and wellha. it happens to mine sometimes
Hi,
Other defects:
Quality of the front windshield, to be changed every year
Sound quality
Front seats, leg extension not adjustable
Heat, make it necessary to tint the windows
Ceramic brakes dangerous in heavy rain
BMW service void if optimizations performed
Did you do research prior to the purchased of the car? Inline 6 sounds can't compared with V8 or V10 N/A. I had a 18 F80 and BT connection worked perfect need to update your iDrive software. Only Ferrari and Aston Martin had their shifters mounted on steering column you won't find this feature on German cars.
These cars got wide front wheels, doesnt help with turning circle, the torque curve is peaky, its been retuned in the M4 comp, you can just have it tuned eith bmd3...yours sounds awesome tho
Torque delivery is why i prefer Audi. Audi makes you feel like a good driver whereas BMW you really have to be a good driver
i am using F10 M5....i never had any issue with Bluetooth connectivity with my iphone ...the only issue that i agree is the paddle shift placement on the steering wheel.
Wow. 700???
i got this exact car and i’m wrapping it blue next month i love it drives so smooth!!
i didnt have the problem with my idrive but i had and 2014 f31 320d, and i have andriod, only problem i had it didnt show what song was playing on the idrive
I have a dct m2, and when i turn i use the main gear shifter, not the paddles
I love that cold start ❤️
When you talk about disconnecting/reconnecting your phone to play music all you have to do is press “radio” then go back to media and bam.. music will play
Every BMW owner secretly hates their car deep down, but would never admit it publicly 😊
so basically the only thing thats actually annoying is pairing and unpairing your phone frequently.
Have my 2019 M4 competition for about 7 months. A little over 40,000 miles. Can't find anything I would change. No problems with the car at all.
Is that a PSM style Spoiler? Also Bimmercode can code out the cold start feature
If you have the music/media connected via bluetooth, it will work fine, until you connect it with the iphone cable. Once connected with the iphone cable, you must either disconnect and re-connect the phone, but much easier, you can hit the options button when your phone is highlighted in the bluetooth menu, and just re enable the media directly rather than having to disconnect and reconnect the phone.
lmao cold start is the best part
m3 or m4 maintenance wise which is the better purchase?
Maintenance wise, they are the same. Yes the M3 has four doors and the M4 has 2 doors, but the drive trains are the same.
Awesome car. But I gotta say I never had a Bluetooth issue on my 2016 idrive system
Cant you rev it to warm it faster up to make it shorter ?
probably gonna get a lot of flak or hate for this question. but i dont know cars to much
any comment on daily usage? how many times to refuel in a week?
Do you plug it in? Or no
I've never had to reconnect my phone. I got an s21 ultra. Not sure why you getting this problem
@7:15 was was the power cut during full throttle?
I like how you blur speedometer when speeding up but the head up is still there :D
if you have an issue with the bluetooth audio, ie. no sound coming out, try switching to AUX mode then back to BT on the iDrive
If your phone doesnt play music on your idrive system all you gotta do is hold the volume button down for two minutes. Let your idrive refresh. It will fix everything. DO NOT disconnect your phone.
Cold start noise? Morning coffee I would say….
(the famous oil leak!) So, yes always let the car warm up.
the cold start has nothing to do with the oil temperature but rather to heat up the catalyser.
when the speed is blurred on the dash but not on the heads-up display. Love the video though. Keep up the good videos!!
Is the M4 small in driving a bmw 740 I want something faster don’t know if I should down grade to m4
number 5 on this video
What should I expect to pay for a 2017 M4 cab with electronic steering wheel, comp 666 wheels, carplay with 61k miles? .. history shows 4 owners and 2 minor accidents (360 inspection passed)
I have the same year/model and everything you said is true 😂. Still love my baby
Great vid.
why did you bought m4 if you cant predict torque?
for me as german a big issue is the tank volume. if often have to move from hamburg to berlin which ist 300km, you have to re fuel it when you go the 296km/h with the competition. the tank is so small, that 160km before berlin the reserve lamp starts to blink. due to that re fueling i'm loosing 10minutes. so if you take a normal car, with half the power you will reach berlin without re-filling and then it takes in average the same time. so an M4 helps me not, to save time even it's a super fast car xD only the M2 competition is more ridiculous with it's 52liters tank :D
Funny how you blue the speedometer to hide your speed but forget a about the head up display :)
I had to disable cold start using Bootmod3 after I deleted the resonators on my 340i, it was long like this and relentlessly loud.
u know we can see the speed you are driving at on the wind shield, right?
what do you have done to the exhaust?
