If that movie makes you tear up; you should watch “Aftershock”. It’s based on the real life horrific Great Tangshan Earthquake of 1976 (which un-alived almost 300,000 people) The story focuses on one young girl in a small family… & holy shi did the creators really sell the feeling of the people’s total helplessness and blind fear. San Andreas was one of my favourite movies and it was the first movie I saw with Alexandria Daddario and I was like wow her eyes lol. I remember watching Pompeii and it was a good disaster movie too - the guy in the movie is so damn good looking! But the ending was sad :(
I watched twister in theatre when it came out. Me and my sister and a few people left and had to drive 20 miles home in a really bad storm. I live in eastern nebraska and we get alot of tornados. It was scary

Twister, Deep water Horizon, Only The Brave, and The Impossible have happened for real. Tornados scare the hell out of me, because I have seen them up close, as for the Deep Water Horizon movie, that disaster really did happen and it caused at lot of environmental disaster, firefighters have my respect because they have a very dangerous job, as for deep sea fishing, that comes with lots of risk, and I remember seeing the news and learning about the tidal wave which cost lots of lives. Some of these movies show that we are causing the problems which Earth is facing.
The volcanic inspiration for “Dante's Peak” was the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens, which was used as a filming location for some scenes in the movie.

Most movies here are from recent years. Disaster movies had another golden age in the early 70's with movies like "S.O.S. Poseidon", "Earthquake" and "Towering inferno". The effects are of course a bit outdated, but I recommend all those three movies, they have both action and heart.
