I neglected getting all the seeds off the ground under my tree and now my lawn is being overtaken. I don't know what to do, but, dig up the new seeds and plants as they pop up. The fully grown tree is awesome.
i know i'm late to the party, but the one FT that rooted but did not sprout...i think you can pull it and put it in peat moss in an enclosure with lots (100%) humidity for a couple of weeks, and the seed might soften enough to let it sprout. have you tried this?

Yes they do when there very young. Those leaves will open up and become bifurcated with time
