Even if it's an old video, the process of germinating seeds does not change either. I have 20 palm tree seeds with me now. I will copy and paste your tutorial and do it. Thank you for this information. Watching from South Africa.
This is encouraging and interesting, we have been told that palm seed take 3 months to sprout, you need hydrogen peroxide, its to expensive to get a seedlings, a seedlings is about 4$, but your video changed everything ,thanks for sharing
Some palm trees do take 3+ months to germinate, that's why some guides say you should soak them in hydrogen peroxide before you start (to dis-infect them and prevent mold, since they will be in a moist environment for months which makes mold more likely). Some palms germinate faster, some palm seeds need soaking for longer, some seeds need heat, some don't etc. "Palms" is a VERY broad catagory that includes cordylines with seeds that are about 1mm accross, all the way up to coconuts with seeds larger than a human fist! It depends on the EXACT species, but generally palms as a group take longer than average to germinate (and some need stratifying). If you still need advice, let me know what species you were looking into and I'll see if I can help you with that.
Great vid! I was down in Florida and collected some seeds off the palm trees down there. I want to try to grow a palm tree up here in NY. Now please explain to me how palm trees are surviving in Canada! Lol!
Hello Makeup Mobster! Good luck growing your seeds there in NY. Canada is really warm now, hope the temperatures get to normal fast. Thanks for enjoying the vid! 🙂
Hi Freezy, that can always happen. You need to keep the seeds in a dry place. If it created mold while you were germinating them in wet paper, so you should change the paper and clean the mold from the seeds. Also adding a little bit of cinnamon powder on the germinating seeds and papper, prevents mold from forming. Thanks for your question!
Hi Freezy, unfortunately there is always a chance of mold forming when germinating seeds in wet paper. You must chenge the paper, clean the mold from the seeds and leave some air inside the plastic bag where you put the seeds. Normally this solves the problem. If mold forms again do the same thing.
@@freezy5898 I live in a very humid place and mold is everywhere, I’d suggest you keep the seeds in an air tight container while waiting to see the roots, helped me 100%! My container was clear plastic, so I didn’t open it at all before I saw shadows of roots appearing. And after putting them into soil mine sprouted in maybe 3 weeks, it looked like nothing is happening but then one day they just appeared. Some appeared even later, after a month or so. Takes a lot of patience
Hello Kate! I will make a video to show the progress of 1 year after sprouting. It does not have a big diference from the 3 month uptade, the plant today is a bit higher and has more leaves. Good luck with your new palms coming soon! 🙂🌴

@Bradley Cheese Pepperoni i have the same problem, but you can plant winter hard palm trees there, for else honey palm or smth or you grow they in pots
I tried this exact method and mine have grown so much in just a month and a half to two months. The stems are like three inches tall with really long roots. I live in the tropics so that might explain the growth spurt. How long can I live them in the glass and do I love them to a small pot or a large one right away?
@calldavid no I left them in a bowl on the kitchen counter. I transplanted them to larger bags of soil from the small plastic glasses. The bags are much cheaper than pots. They are now very big with five large leaves each. I did 13 of them and they are all in full bloom. Wish I could post pics
Sprouted 100 seeds. Separated into two containers with the same soil the same water and in the same spot. Have one pot with about 40 palm seedlings about 3 inches tall at week 3. The other pot has nothing 🤷♂️ keep trying if it doesn’t work. Not sure what happened. Soil was from same bag.
Hi Myrna Rose! Yes it does work with other types of palm tree. You can use this method with your bottle palm seeds. If you want you can try and then comment here the results. 🙂
Hi, i had Licuala Grandis palm seeds in water for 48 hours, and put them in a zip-log bag exactly like you did in this video. They’ve been in the bag for 4 days, and I just went to check on them. They are moldy and smell bad. Any ideas what went wrong? Is it normal? And can I save them? Thank you!
I was going to ask if you are Portuguese, because you have what I recognise as a Portuguese accent, but then I looked at that paper bag with the "A farmácia de todos os portugueses" sentence and I got my answer.
I managed to get 3 of them when i was in Spain last week. Can i grow these small? lol like a bonsai palm tree lol im in scotland UK so freeeezin does it matter mine are green? And i have smaller seeds, also greenish i cant remember from what they are, maybe the seed itself idk lol
This video was some years ago now but I find tree plants do better in the ground after sprouting , mine never do well in pots ,their roots need room to spread out not confined in pots definitely grow much better in ground soil.
Hi Lina Rama! The Philippines is a wonderfull place I would like to visit some day! I use normal potting soil mixture that is available in regular stores. For me it works just fine!
Why do the initial drying and soaking? Why not just peal the flesh from the fruit right after picking it and then put the cleaned seed in the wet paper towel and closed bag?
Hi Paulpaul, I gave the palm to neighbor because I went to live far from the place I had this palm. The neighbor cares about plants so I no the palm is very well! 🙂
What if there is no palm trees naturally growing in where i live? I live in Europe and theres no palm trees naturally growing here. I cant just TAKE the seeds from somewhere.

After keeping in glass we should need to keep in sun light, as some video i has seen.

This is not required. You just need minimum 28 C for one month under soil. I germinated a few times in my way.
How many years from plant up to havest palm tree?
Any update?
Her in Iraq we have the best palm dates in the world and no one grows them from seeds.
Hi Peace and Love! Great nickname! What you said is very good to know. Thanks for your comment! 👍
What is the point of putting them in the water? My friend just plants them whilst they are still red and they just grow.
Hi Laurence Fox. Putting the seeds in water speeds up the germination process.
are the seeds edible?
Hi Tadneem! I dont think this kind of seeds are edible.
Is there a shorter way to do that thats a lot of process to kany things to do just to plant a palm tree wow
Hi Jorge. There are shorter ways but the success rate is veery low.
Can I use cold water in place of the hot water
