    I bought an El Niño fern about a month ago and it started growing little “Ninos” on the leaves in about a week. I had to relocate my other plants to spread out all the little sprouts. Now I’ve got a “fern garden” tank for guppy breeding. 👍

    Thanks so much for this video Joanna! I have not had success with Java fern except a decent sized piece of the lace type. I just let it float and tumble around in my 20 l, and it became almost a perfect circular clump. But when I moved it to my 75 g, it died. I am going to try again with Java fern after watching your video!

      How's it going? I've got a 10 I'm converting and a 20 long I'm eyeing. Bought an anubias 2 weks ago and it's still alive... but I know it'll take a while of I'm killing it so... How'd yours go? Are the fish happier? Are you? Was there a lot of plant death or do they come back? (When I first got aquariums here I struggled hard core - in Seattle fish were easy. Moved to the middle of the desert and found out water here is just liquid limestone.

    Hey guys a lot of something really cool. For those of you who like house plants and you want to have them near your fish tank did you know that if you take a paperclip. It's not really like a paperclip it's more like a paper clip that can clip on and then hold down the papers.
    If you take one of those and you have a light pot that's for your potted plant you can clip it to your fish tank and it looks really cool.
    and then what you do is if your plants need sun you just take them and put them in a place where they have sun before you leave in the morning and then at night when you come home you put them back in the pots and then you can have them on your fish tank.
    I saw videos of people actually removing the dirt from the roots of the plant and designing holders and putting them in the tank but the problem is I have so much Driftwood hardscape and a nubias but there's not a real place to do that just yet so the easiest way I thought I was to clip the plant onto the tank itself if you got a roomless tank.
    It looks amazing.
    You can even set one on top of your hang on filter and it's no problem.
    I thought about it because I love house plants but I like to see them near my tanks but I didn't really know how to actually put them but then suddenly I just thought of it. Believe can cover up the clip of your plant they won't it won't be able to see it.
    I use ferns or Ivts or any other plant as long as it's small and the pot is light you should be able to do it.
    I purchased most of my pots from Ikea so they're made of light metal and painted but like I said it just hangs on the outside and you don't have to worry about like metal poisoning because I usually keep like my tank not completely full so it's really cool..

    This must be my 3rd watch of this video. I keep returning to it whenever I have a new question about this plant. I did notice the string right away when I purchased mine & took it off. I actually grew it emersed for a bit, until I was ready to set up my tank. So now I have a bunch of single leaves here and there around my tank and they look kind of sad & pathetic. Will they eventually spread and grow more leaves at the base,? I have one that has babies growing from the top - it was a torn leaf that was given to me & I let it float, that was about 6 months ago, now it's in my 14 gal cube tank, but no sign of any base growth so far. When they say slow growing, what are we expecting in terms of growing time for noticeable changes to the plant?

    My Godson gave me what I only just realized was a single Java fern. It must have broken loose from his plant because it didn't have a rhizome when he gave it to me. He told me to just let it float in my tank, which I did. Now it has what I thought was a root ball as well as babies growing from the top. I had buried it recently in the substrate, not realized it was a java fern. I remembered seeing this video & I'm glad I came back to rewatch it before I left that poor plant buried for too long. I unburied it right after watching and will likely move it to my new 14 gallon tank when I finally start adding the plants - planned for tomorrow when my Godson can bring a couple other plants he has for me.

      Hi Cassie! Well, generally we don’t keep shrimp with a betta, you might not see your shrimp for very long. I would probably put snail and community fish in and then add betta. No set timeframe in between adding, just watch your water parameters. Good luck!

    I just got my 29gal tank all set up. Got my 1st live plants in and they look great. I did however forget that salt can kill plants. I generally put a very low concentration (1/2 tsp per gallon) of salt in my new tanks. I dont keep it at that level after water changes, but will that amount of salt kill java moss, xmas moss, Marino moss balls, Pogostemon Octopus, and Bacoba Carolinaia(spelling?)

    Java fern was the first plant I bought about six years ago. The original plant exploded into tiny plantlets and the original disintegrated. I've still got a ton of little baby plantlets. Despite having plant appropriate lighting, flourish, flourish excel, iron, nitrogen, etc, they still grow VERY slowly, if at all. I've read a few different places that growth will slow or stop without additional potassium supplements or a potassium heavy fert like EasyGreen. Anyone else have this experience?

    • @kernalbert4939
      @kernalbert4939 Рік тому

      The tiny plantlets is a last ditch method to self propagate. The fact that the mother disintegrated means you had a problem from the beginning.
