Thank you very much for this video! Thanks to it I actually somehow managed to replace charger port on my iPad despite having zero experience in soldering, and never before attempting repairs harder than battery replacement. This is very helpful.
Enjoying the new edit-style you seem to have changed up to. Looking forward to more.
this was very well recorded and explained, i’d say the best video on the topic. trying to replace one on a busted ipad air 2 my mom had a few years back that she dropped and broke the port with. this gave a lot of help for how and what to do and why you do it.
thank you man!
Thank you so much so well done and very well explained. I opened a repair shop and I dont advertise or do solder work normally as thats something im still not comfurtable with but this one lady insisted because the only other option she had would cost her almost as much as it did getting the ipad in the first place. Had her sign a form and I was so anxious but this worked like a breeze. Thank you
You seem to be really happy doing your repairs great video
you've given me a new technique to try, great vid. Also glad i'm not the only one with a bit of hand shake :)
Thank u. I was thinking about giving up coffee to maybe help with the jitters.
I tried to desolder the flex cable with an iron and destroyed some pads doing so. Maybe my iron is just not hot enough, but I would only do it with hot air. It is much easier to heat the pads all at once with the air gun.
Jason hi! I just was wondering what temperature you used for soldering.
Very nice vid! Really appreciated all the details. But when do you know that its the charging port what's causing the problem?
Awesome videos. Im learning alot. Thank you
heya ok that is again a new repair that I haven't seen before well done
Nice to see you againthanks
Hi there, have you ever successfully repaired the pin/pads on a PCB board that occured as a result of melting?
nice work
Very Nice bo, I follow you from Honduras.
Mine drained it's battery completely while charging and now won't even show signs of life when a lightning cable is plugged in so I reckon I'll give this a go. Thanks!
Great repair
Good Job!!!
I always learn watching your Videos, Keep up good work.
Stay Blessed :)
that epic ending !
Good video :) think ill ditch the hot air for removing those too next one i see thx ! been to scared to pull pads before thanks for easing my worries :)
Once you use the flux to clean - do you then use the soldering paste when you apply the new one?
Everything looks good even the cracks on my desk lol 😂 my all times favorite tech knowledge with gigs
What kind of set up do you have there? Looks amazing.
What is this slobbering solder all over the place technique. Doesnt this make one big connected glop? Aren’t these pins/pads to connect to only one other on the charging port attachment area?
Thanks
Another great video!!
This is so awesome, UA-cam puts comments from members at the top for me. Thanks for still watching a year later :)
Good job عمل رائع
Loved the ending lol
very nice dear
Very neat, and you focused on only what matters :-D
Why don’t you use an anti-static mat on your desk - or any other kind of anti-static protection for that matter? Some components on that logic board are certainly sensitive enough to ESD to warrant a little more care
Excellent work, very clean, sorry, what flux type or brand do you use? thanks congrats from México.
Your the man jay I am getting ready to send u a 6s plus with water damage
thank you awesome video
Great Job as alway
Thank you very kindly for the video, it saved my butt. This is exactly how I did it. The re-alignment is definitely the hardest part before applying solder. I used a few small clamps to hold both components down.
Any practical reason for that sticker (that you didnt forget) besides aestetics?
Link for the port replacement please
oi, boa noite, sou muito fan de seus videos, Sou Brasileiro e estou querendo aprender mais sobre Smartphone!
você tem alguns sites para esquemas? ou cursos?
Hello.NICE JOB! I,m in trouble with my IPad Air 2 with the charge flat cable broken(I have tried to take off to my own! :( )
Can you fix it? Let me know. I,m in UK
Hi my friend. Great video. I´ve done same repair than you in my Ipad Air and the flex charger port is already installed. I´ve checked the connections and it seems all are correct but once I´ve connected the charger to the new USB port (5.2 volts.), I´ve detected 1.4 volts. only in the motherboard battery pads (without the battery fitted). Which voltage should be in these pads? 3,7 volts?
I cannot fit the battery as it´s gone. It´s dead. Before to purchased new one, I need to know if the repair is properly done but that 1,4 volts make me suspect that something is wrong. Can you help me? I´ll appreciate a lot. Thank you.
hi. if the flex was change. the finger print sensor or home botton will have some effect? it will get damage? or the home botton need to change so it can read a finger print? thnx pls reply
Sir what gel do u use to remove the charging port?
thank you sir
What flux do u use sir, can u give me link for it. Thanks
Super
How much do you charge on average for a repair descending from the video?
i totally agree with u but im still gona float them :D
Is this repair similar on an iPad mini 2? What is the part number?
Jason hot air from proskit ?
Very nice 😎 good to see you again! Do you use 0.5x C-mount relay lens for camera? I use and I wonder what is the best x lens for camera so the field of view is more wider..
Thank you. This one is 0.5x. I really like the results Paul Daniels is getting out of his 0.7x though... I'm planning to change to that one day.
STS Telecom do you mean that he have 0.7x for C-Mount or 0.7x regular barlow lens under microscope :)
STS Telecom are you refer to 0.75x
I've got the 0.7~0.75X main barlow on the microscope itself, and a 0.3X on the camera adaptor for the c-mount.
The 0.3X on the c-mount is because I'm using a 1/2.8" sensor on the camera. If you have a 1/2" sensor you probably want to get a 0.5X c-mount reducer.
What's on the main-barlow doesn't really matter for the camera, as the camera/c-mount is about just capturing the most of what ever is in the microscope's FOV.
Paul Daniels Thank you for the information, Paul!
hello sir,bro ipad mini 4 Trister ic is same as iphone
what type of solder you are using is this kester leaded ?
In this video was Kester 60/40 but I usually use 63/37
hi. thanks for your great video. What can I do if the pads in motherboard are broken at the moment of flex removal? this is my case. I thought in jumpers but I need the information to know where fit them.
Thanks for the compliment. Jumpers would be the only way. Some pads may not be needed though. Check out Phoneboard: phoneboard.co/
It’s a free board view program and should have the info you need. Hopefully this helps :)
WoW!!! Thanks for your sooner answer. I'll work on it and I'll inform you about my progress.
Not everything is lost. I still have hope for my iPad air.!!!
niiiice
What temp do you have your iron set too?
I think I was at 750~800F. I mostly use 750 now.
😍😍😍😍
Can i send u mine to fix?
This is just gonna be a quick comment so I'll get to it ! enjoyable video !! don't be such a stranger ,Jason

What should that cost in £ or $? Fast Phone Repair wants 3 days and $90. They have 1 solderer..er for 2 shops. He's off til Thursday. What? And whoever. .whom... the person I talked to earlier said "if that part, fix this afternoon for few dollars." Hint: ALWAYS GET A NAME or it's NO Sir! You have been not understood. What?
