Project BRAT Episode #1: "Paris is going to do all the work..." - BL Episode #8: Bucky puts the BRAT all back together and drives off... #CharlesInCharge #TeamParis
You can tell she really loves that car, I still get that same smile every time I drive my old Ranger I bought when I was 19. Such a cool experience and connection for you to share 👍
Well done, Dad! Driving a stick is a valuable life lesson that puts Paris in a very small population of highly capable drivers. I taught both of my daughters to drive a stick and know all too well the mix of fear and pride of those first few drives. They're both in their 30s now and my youngest still insists on a manual transmission for her daily driver.
On the subject of fuel: try to find a place that sells ethanol free fuel. Most gas sold today is 10% ethanol (E10). The ethanol will eventually gum up carburetors in cars of this era and is slightly corrosive towards the seals and fuel lines that weren't specifically made to handle it. Congrats on getting the Brat on the road!
"im not editing this" i cannot wait till im able to do that with my kiddo! and it really shows how many cars you've built in time simply from the fact you brought a whole ass tool kit with you on the drive lol
As always awesome video , proud of Paris for driving manual , that interior is looking sweet ... " Be free " that one cracked me up 😅 I Miss the white bucket * takes note to come back
I taught my 21 year old son how to drive a manual when he was 16 with an old WRX I use to have. My 16 year old son wants a 1984 Brat to rebuild like this.
You can use one of those huge sponges over the shifter (but under the shift boot) to keep some of the less pleasant smells / things from coming into the cabin. I have a similar hole in my shift tunnel and that seemed to work well. Obviously they degrade - but they're cheap. So get one or two and cut to fit!
What the hell did you do with all that old fuel? Can't believe how full it was. As a complete aside, I'm getting my '04 wrx back from the garage on Saturday. As I live right in Philly, I don't have a garage and can only do so much work on my own without the fear of getting destroyed by a bus or a jackass. She's getting all new Whiteline steering and shifting bushings with an STI transmission mount, Perrin up-pipe, Grimmspeed crosspipe, Koyo radiator & cap, thermostat, Mishimoto hoses, Moroso expansion, Killer B Dual washer/coolant resevior, and a GetaDomTune cylinder 4 cooling system mod. Slowly bringing her back to life. The last year of being stuck at home with my kid has prevented me from getting the work done. Had to live vicariously through you, so thanks!
Bucky you crack me up with your attitude you have on life you make things so fun and enjoyable Good job brother on that car It looks good now all it needs is a nice paint job and new brat stickers
Here I am again, to be even more excited about the smaller details than your incredible work on this car, which truly makes me happy to see for both you and especially Paris! For example: 2:58 Did you ever play the cymbals in concert/marching band, or just when no one was looking? Because that was pretty good form! I may need to start including a set of "percussion" jack stands for band practice, and snicker at all of the looks of confusion and concern. More to this video's topic though, any son or daughter would be pretty Buckin' lucky to have you as a dad, so I hope you are proud of that, because I'm sure you're children are! And if not, just send them out to MA and I'll set them straight.
LoudLove!!Brudda Buck from N/C and Bmore..I feel your smile and I saw hers of love and admiration also. This tIme now in my mid 40’s..Im a GranPappy yes, from a son at 22,my oldest girl is 16 in Bmore County living with her mom and just got her learners permit so I’ve been teaching her to drive the way my daddy in NC taught us at 9 and 10 yrs old.My 4yr old daughter calls me Fadre the Daddy😂💜 bro,she loves😂 driving down the NC dirt roads and in the churches parking lot on that friends land. That look brought some LoudLove to my heart from the both of yous.LoudLove my brudda to yous and the Brat-a-tat-tat attack.🔊🔊🔊💜💜💜🤙🏽
I saw a BRAT in someones yard the other day and I wanted to stop and ask them if they would sell it. All because of this series........DAMN you BUCKY and Paris.......lol
I had restored my dads car. He had it since in Germany in 1969 he was in army.. he shipped overseas his car bought in Germany. 1970 vw squareback. I restored it because my dad committed suicide in 1983. I had it for awhile. But my first exwife let guys steal it while I was working. Sucks that the Dover-foxcroft police in Maine never found my car. But I remember the gas smelling like varnish smelling when I had replaced the gas and had to get new tank. I miss that car.. was multi port fuel injected engine. Standard shift. I had a Subaru hatchback that kinda reminded me driving the vw squareback. I miss those cars and my 72 oldsmobile cutlass and 78 Thunderbird.. and my lifted 83 Chevy truck ... and lifted 96 GMC Sierra extended cab truck.. . I had alot of cool cars. but mostly missed my dads car that my first exwife let get stolen watching guys outside do and never called police while I was working at eastland woolen mill or hartland tannery was like 96 when it happened.. sucks..
He was one the lucky ones. In 1969 service in Germany while Vietnam was going on. He was a electrician for long island railroad in new York.. fixing the lights and gates. He was working on tanks in the army. . But I had restored it. Was ok. Wasnt perfect. But was a fun car to drive.
I'm really enjoying your progress.. I have a 86 brat.. I installed ac and pwr steering.. now trying to install pwr windows.. great job I learned a lot on interior for mine is presteen.
Yup, I remember that “Paris is going to do all the work” from the first episode. Good to see that she was a little bummed about that, but it’s a driver now, and the smile on her face says it all. “The wheel’s a little crooked”🤣🤣🤣
Brat is looking awesome, Paris did good on her first drive of the Brat, love the carbon touch but Paris got to have some sounds, good old Alpine single din, a sub under the seat couple tweeters and speaks in da doors🤘 That surely not new exhaust ya messing with us she’s pretty noisy , next episode seats and exhaust yeah, ? 🤙
HELL YEAH!! Been waiting for this moment longer than I’ve been waiting for my dad to come back, man. Thanks for being “everyone’s dad” on this channel, Bucky. Paris is a lucky duck 🦆
idk if it was mentioned, but the rear wheels look like the squared-off spokes off the 3rd gen cars, the front wheels are off a second gen like your Brat. I have straight 2nd gen 8 spoke wheels here in Washington if you want a matching set!
@@BuckyLasekOfficial I have some pretty minty rear backing plates to fit the rear disc brakes off a turbo car and a spare set of XT6 hubs to go 5x100 if you want them. I already swapped my 87 wagon, and am running 6 lug on my 79 wagon. Are you planning on doing custom 4x140 wheels, drilled 6 lug hubs/wheels, or 5 lug conversion? Impreza rear backing plates can be adapted to get a rear handbrake + disk brakes back there.
Her smile when she started it and when she gave it throttle says it all. Well done!
Dude, Im loving the interior. That carbon is a very nice touch.
Thanks, I’m really stoked on how it’s coming along👍🏼
Good Guy, Good Dad, all round great ambassador for Subaru and the Skate World. Top of the Game boys.
Thank you 🙏🏻☺️
Some old school recaro seats would be sick!
Yea fishnet recaro Or wrx buckets😎😎

The Buckit is collecting dust along with some needed parts and will be getting thrown sideways soon.
@@BuckyLasekOfficial sideways 🤙🤙🤙🙏

Gotta love the Ernest impression. RIP Jim Varney. Our family still watches Ernest Scared Stupid every Halloween
🙏🏻❤️
Paris droves Brat fine!! GO Go speedoracer!!
She looks so happy driving it!
Interior looks great, having them reupholstered in something original will look good!
Can't wait to see more episodes!
She’s stoked!😀 We’re thinking about reupholstering the stock seats👍🏼
@@BuckyLasekOfficial definitely keep the stock seats! They look great! Keeping them looking like what the drivers seat is now would be sick
@@Lofty2006 Plus one on keeping the stock vibe! Love the plaid look, very period and very clean 🧼
Well done Paris! Well done Dad!
Sweet. That ear to ear grin says it all.
Another Killer Video Brother! This project is coming along so nicely. Keep the Heat coming!👊🐞🤘

Loved the T-Tops. (And the sliding rear window.)

Ya’ll are so cute together, such a good dad
Great job Paris and Bucky!
The door cards are sweet! love the jelly roll shift boot!

Geezus! How big of a gas tank does that thing have? I did NOT assume it would fill up a big ass container like that! Nice vid as always!
I did not think it had that much gas in it, gauge wasn’t working and said it was almost empty.
@@BuckyLasekOfficial that gauge was WAY off 🤣🤣🤣
What did you do with the old gas
