- Let me show you my new, favorite way to store fat quarters. Today I'm reviewing a storage system I purchased last month from Missouri Star Quilt Co. Even though I am an affiliate with them, I purchased these small fabric storage bags myself. Let me show you how I'm using them. Also, I give you a little tour of the beautiful Ruby Star fabrics (plus some others) I have tucked away for later.

Hi Patty, it's always nice to be able to watch a new video from you. I am so sorry you're going through challenges between your mom sick at home and your friend in the hospital. My mom has been in and out of the hospital several times over the last couple of years. Dealing with that becomes so stressful. My mom turned 90 in April of this year, a week later she was back in the hospital for 6 weeks. She returned home for less than a week had a massive heart attack and died on June 20. Funeral planning, obituary writing, the service and burial is stressful. She was buried on July 4. Everything else takes a backseat, so I feel your pain and understand fully why you want to enjoy your pretty fabrics and sit in your sewing room to get away from it all. We can only do so much before we are stretched to the limit. You're extremely lucky that you have a friend who can help you out. Don't forget to try and take time for yourself. You are in my thoughts.
Oh thank you so much Barb!! I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. The constant doctor visits and illnesses leading up all of this is so draining. And now she's be bed bound and i've taken care of her by myself for 6 MONTHS now. I'm not going to last much longer doing this. And now settling my friend's affairs is on me. It will be worthwhile in the end for me and I promised him I'd take of things properly. I'm past my limit at this point and I'm hoping to have the bulk of my friend's stuff completed by Labor Day and have a plan for mom by then too. I can't keep going like this.

@@PattymacMakes I’ve been there so I understand, fully! I did it 24/7/365 for ten years. You’re stronger than you think. You can do this. Our parents gave us life and it’s a privilege that we can help them at the end of theirs. Bless you. Hang in there. 🥰🙏🥰
Patty, You realize you’re a loving gift for your friends and family. We are given the opportunity to be help and loving support to people we cherish. We have these opportunities because we can handle it. Find some joy in the abilities and gifts you have that can ease others pain and passings. You will get through it. You have a great personality and sense of humor, you care and are stronger then you know. Bless you and love your videos.
Thank you! I just pray the settlement of his affairs can be mostly completed by the end of August and then I can afford real help with mom because me doing this by myself day and day out is starting to negatively impact me.
I can hear it and still see it even when you smile, brilliant smile btw! I recognize that kind of exhaustion and stress. I have been there and for survival I had to compartmentalize without guilt some joy time. Our love for others can drain us completely and we can’t sacrifice ourselves , we have to remain strong. Take a block of time if minutes or few hours to get to a happy place without guilt. It is required, not selfish. Caregiver is the hardest job, it is a privilege on one hand to be the hand our love ones hold when passing but were not only left behind but were heart broken and exhausted.
Oh, bless your heart. I can’t imagine the challenges you are facing and praying for continued strength. Also, praying for your mom and friend. I absolutely love this idea to store fabric. I had seen them but wasn’t sure. Well, now I’m sold. Thank you for sharing.
Yes, color therapy, especially with fabric, is definitely real.

I am so sorry that you, your mom, and your friend in the hospital are in those “valleys” of life. Those times are definitely hard and sometimes seem like they will never end. I lost my mother on Christmas Eve 2023 at the age of 97 and I miss her so much. So I hope you can embrace the moments you have with your mom and your friend to add to the precious memories you will have. I am glad that you took time out to enjoy the colors of fabric; what would we do without color?!! I have a hard time with monochromatic rooms and decorating, even though I know many people love it. I guess that is why we are all different. Hang in there and breathe deeply.

Patti, it may sound trite, but there is another side to this. You will make it. You do deserve a vacation and I’m really happy that visiting with us here on the Tube is helping you process everything that’s going on. ❤
Thank you! Actually, just being able to use my gym again with no time restrictions or going out to lunch or dinner with someone or even just drive to Ikea and spend an afternoon again would feel like heaven. I'm so restricted on what I can do, and the care is growing more and more. So just being able to go back to my chiropractor and having the luxury of a manicure again would be better than any vacatioin.

Yes, fabric and fiber make me happy as well, love putting a cross stitch needle through linen and having the colors to life! In addition, I like to quilt and see those colors come to life in a block. Hopefully, the rest of your summer is better.

When my mom was sick, I worked on a hexagon quilt. I have no idea how many hexagons I made. Keeping your hands busy, helps. Then after my husband passed, I picked it back up. I finished it, queen sized quilt, with an eyelet border. I love that quilt. All hand sewn, long armed by my long armer here in FL.
Take care of yourself! You can't help others if you're not taking care of yourself.
I bet that is a gorgeous piece of work! I made those fun 16 patches when all of this started and when my friend goes home to stay in a couple of weeks, I want to get them back out again.

Patty, thanks to MSQC July 4 weekend sales AND your affiliate link, I was able to get a whole bunch of GORGEOUS, top-quality fabric at huge savings - I calculated out the cost per yard and it averaged just $5.18 per yard! I'm over the moon! Thank you so, so much. Like you, I'm the only one responsible for everything in my life, and like you, I'm a caregiver who spends a lot of time on that knife edge of "can I do it? Wait - there's just me so I guess I WILL do it". Quilting is how I stitch the world together. Thank you for helping me keep on doing it!
You absolutely can NOT go wrong buying high quality fabric at prices like that. It's unreal!! I haven't even looked at what's been going on over there because I've been too preoccupied with everything else going on. And I want to focus on that quilt project and not distract myself with tons of new things. I'm starting on that today and I am super excited about it. I will be lessening my responsibilities greatly in the fall, and I'm really ready for that. I need to simplify things and get help. I won't last long going like I am currently.

Patty, I'm happy to hear that you have a friend who is available to help you, even if it is for a shorter time. I hope that you can find some time to recharge a bit. As a former lone wolf care giver, I completely understand how it drains you in every way possible. On a more pleasant note, I really appreciate how you use something before doing a review. An unboxing is good for a first impression and for discovery of something new, but nobody could honestly give a meaningful review from an unboxing. Oh I'm so glad you appreciate me taking my time before sharing something. Yeah I really don't want to recommend something that is just so. I'm starting to run down on the situation so I am looking at making changes. This is starting to get to me.
I have the 10” hard case from MSQC, I love them. They are a heavy plastic, the snaps are sturdy. You can fit about 5-8 10” layer cakes. Or I use them for my projects, I put all the fabric, excluding the backing, and the pattern I bought the fabric for.
I also like the 5” charm squares storage from MSQC. That is my opinion. I do want to try these bags too.

Thank you!!! Funny you mention the hard case, because I requested one on my PR box for this month and I really like it. I crammed everything for the new quilt inside it. Yeah I'm hoping the worst of this is settled and behind me by Labor day. It's a lot but God is showing up in my life like never before.

Thank you!! I bring up the beige room because the hospital room my friend was in for 2 weeks was all beige and he was on the verge of a mental breakdown by the time I got him out of there. It was really terrible.

JoAnn's in my area are closing - not sure of the rest of the story but heard they were bought out by a company trying to save face and instead went bankrupt due to management taking the majority of the profit. Very sad but so thankful for MSQC as our closest Quilt store is 50+ miles away!! Very sad. But thanks to finding you here and your sharing of the code, I have made out equally as great as you have!! My heart still hurts over Blueprint Fabrics. I bought tons of yardage when they were going out of business suddenly. Loved their fabrics so, so much and miss them!!😢😢😢😢😢😢
I know! I miss the whole Blueprint set up. It was so nice to use. I had the craftsy membership with the new people but it was expensive and I wasn't using it. Many things I was interested in trying was an additional charge so I didn't do them. Now I think I'd like to try Yes Chef which is a cooking site.

I had a similar situation this past 2 years. I'm nearly through it.
Perhaps when you come out the other side you can have a week "retreat" at your own house. Spending time with your fabrics 😊 Just leaning into your sewing and relaxing.

I was a member of the new craftsy for a couple of years, but I hardly used it and found that many classes I was interested in were not part of my membership. Bluprint had the best set up and i'm sick over how they just dumped the whole thing. It's sickening what they did.

Thank you!! The past year is unlike anything I've ever experienced with the past 3 weeks being sheer hell on earth. It does feel like some of it is starting to shift and I pray the paperwork is in place as it's supposed to be.
These little cases are pretty. I tried them once (JoAnns), but it was too big and very heavy once filled with fabric! So basically it was useless to me and I gave it away. I’m tempted to try this smaller size. I’ll use your link if I do. On a personal note: hang in there. You’re stronger than you think. ❤

Patty I know what pressure your under, I lost my husband on January 9 of this year. He did everything. I’m learning slowly and with the help of my sister in law and friends I’m ok. My kids reside in Tennessee and that is an adjustment for me.
Oh my, I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m a widow as well and I know the heartache. At 5 to 6 months your broken heart and grief is still so fresh. You sound very brave and still standing, with a family behind you. Bless you and hugs from a stranger who knows.

Thank you! It helps knowing you are not walking this path alone. Learning about wills and probate in the moment was terrifying and stressful. We put quite a lot of paperwork into place to minimize the probate situation, and I pray I got everything done and where it needed to be in time. It's so depressing to be waiting for death certificates and then have to run them around to everyone but it's part of it. There is a couple of small bank accounts that will be under probate and I start on that Monday morning for his dad who died in February. I guess they will roll it from the dad to the son's estate. I might need a lawyer to help with all of this as he helped with the paperwork on the primary account. I am shocked that banks will deny even spouses full access to accounts even with legal documentation. It must be worded specifically which we were able to do. But oh my gosh it's been the most stressful thing ever.
