Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
- “Island Style - ‘Oiwi E” is a massive all-star, intergenerational collaboration featuring John Cruz, Jack Johnson, and many more of Hawai’i’s top ʻMana Mele Collectiveʻ artists across many genres, alongside over 1,000 Hawaiian Charter School youth. Recorded live across 15 locations, this medley is dedicated to the Cruz ‘Ohana and Kumu John Keola Lake.
About this collaboration: Mana Maoli, a Hawaiian nonprofit, teamed up with Playing For Change and 4 Miles LLC as part of their Mana Mele Project . Mana Mele features a Music & Multimedia Academy, and a Solar Mobile Studio that serves youth, as well as businesses, artists and the public - as a means to feed its programs.
About the Collective: Alongside the youth - on campus, in real world settings, and in this video, is the “Mana Mele Collective” - over 200 artists, engineers, and filmmakers
who donate their time and talents to mentorships, recordings, concerts, and ‘social enterprise’ services in support of these schools.

Love it, so glad I found your site.... My late sister Virginia who died at 20 years old loved every thing Hawaiian.... Back in the 40s she played Hawaiian music on her Hawaiian guitar and always wanted to visit Hawaii.... She even owned a grass skirt.... Sadly she passed away and never got to go.... This reminded me so much of her and brought tears to me eyes.... Thank you...
God bless you and your sister !
I lost my sister 4years a go heavens gained more angels

With so much aloha spirit in her heart, her soul no doubt dwells in the rainbows over Hawaii.

'Island style' 😎😎😎
Still brings tears to my eyes... such a classic now.
BRAVO! BRAVO!
Mahalo! He nani ke mele!
In 'Ōiwi Ē, so many of the actions look like Māori waiata a ringa (action songs), and the ending is a typical way to end a song when performing ("1, 2, 3, 4...", though "Hī auē" was swapped out for "kia ora" -- clever!) Just curious whether the motions and ending overlap at all with Hawai'ian tradition or whether they were borrowed as a tribute. ❤
I love these songs, watched this video numerous times and will revisit again and again.
Thank you for this special aloha gift.

Heard for the first time let me find you guys once again to listen to more other songs. It is beautiful - Mahesh Sri Lanka
Another extraordinary, brilliant artistic work!
Nice music😍. Proud to be the Pacific Islanders. I'm from Alifuru tribe in Molouku islands, Indonesia. It means I'm a melanesian. We have bounch of similarities in language.
More than most think palala. We are the descendants of the alifuru that went east. Our mother and father of the hawaiian line comes from maluku. Gi-lolo 2 b exact. Their story is key piece in the island names. Oahu and Molokai.

What kills me as this song caresses my very soul . I pray for the natives and locals of ALL Hawaiian Islands. The land is threatened right now they gather to keep them from the best mountain on earth but also record numbers of locals having to leave their island homes due to the development of more and more rich man's dirty greed. I pray you all stand strong you know your in all our prayers. We love Hawaii, Mahalo...
this music went directly to my heart and i was happy
Not an Hawaiian but part of my heart remains after each visit.
God bless Hawaii from the villanuevas
im from Oahu. just a reminder................. in the old days only the men were allowed to dance the hula.women were kapu.
But In 1778 when Captain Cook came to Hawaii he saw women dancing hula as well, a culture like Hawaii would not allow women to do the dance if they did not believe female goddesses gave them the dance in the first place. I'm also from Oahu and I learned about Hawaiian history recently soooo
