SHARP CUTOFF 8000k HID Projector Headlight Conversion - 01 Chevy Tahoe

  • This is the install video for my HID Projectors that i ordered from www.FuturevisionHID.com. I have had HID's before but it was time for some projectors. It took a little bit of work but it wasnt too bad. It actually took me longer to separate the lens from the housing then it did to install the projector. The housings i am using are NOT STOCK. They are "diamond clear" so they allow the projector to shine through without being "diffused".
    After aiming these things, and taking a short run around my building, they seem very well. The silicon should be dry by now so tonight i will get to drive with them finally.

    ***** actually i put HID's in reflector housings all the time. Works great as long as the person takes the time to aim them properly. Usually it is best to stay below 8000k though.

      +meade916 I have a 2004 acura mdx and it already has projectors. i recently installed some cree 6000k 35w led bulbs and there is cut off but how do i get a more sharper and further cutoff?

    • @carloscamarena2574

      to upgrade your cut off line youll have to swap the clear lenses. the retrofit source is where i bought my txs-r lenses for my AP2 hid projectors also you can change the bulbs to 6k

    Ok, ok. I get ya now. As long as you're happy; that's all that matters. I'd like to thank you for posting this video in the first place because it was what convinced me on how easy a retrofit is. I do tend to get a little OCD with some things and I'm sorry. I think you've done an awesome job on the truck, sound system and all. Keep it up.

    @meade916 I haven't had any issues with my projectors or my ballasts. It's not easy to drive with halogens once you go HID. In fact, your video convinced me to retrofit in the first place because it showed me how easy it was.

    Samuel Guerra nope...wouldn't have came out any cleaner with a different tool. Woulda been the same. It's pretty damn funny when someone suggests something that makes no difference at all and not only that but i did this 3 years ago. That being said, please don't tell me what i should have sealed this with when what i used was just fine. No leaks. Instead of giving advice, go work on your own ride bro. Thanks for the other stuff i guess.

  • @kcg795
    @kcg795 12 років тому

    You can say that we are obsessed. Most of us who retrofit don't really do it for looks. We do it to improve our safety. We also don't need to use 8,000k bulbs because the projectors already give off an exotic look with color flicker. We prefer to use 4,300k because it's the brightest and it cuts through poor weather better.

    @joozyfrut HID's are brighter, which means you can see further. HID's however don't work very well in a non project housing and can occasionally blind other drivers with glare because the lighting pattern is unfocused. However, HID's inside a projector housing have a stronger and focused light pattern which allows you to see further as well as reduces glare for oncoming drivers.

    theretrofitsource is a top notch company as well. they're just as respected as futurevision. not only do they deal with with retrofits, but they base their engineering from denso/philips and other oem companies, it's not your 'cheap' kit source.
    your projector install is hella clean and props to that, however i looked at your cutoff at 7:12 and noticed that there are two glare dots right above the cutoff, not a big deal, but an upgrade would be what kcg mentioned, those morimoto h1's are bomb!

    @dirtbiker95 the difference is that the projector ones makes sure that the light doesn't just 'scatter' all over the road thus blinding other road users, most new cars have them stock by now, i thing it also magnifies the light so that you can see further and wider without using your high beam. :)

    @joozyfrut when burning a filament at different temps causes the light to go further. HID(high intensity discharge) kits put more power into the bulb.

  • @kcg795
    @kcg795 12 років тому

    @meade916 I meant to say that the Morimoto Mini H1s are better than the Morimoto Matchbox. Sorry for the confusion. The Mini H1s have a larger bowl, wider beam pattern, and the light is just more intense overall. I'm sure FutureVision has more strict QC than TRS does. I'm saying your projectors look exactly the same as the Matchbox projectors, all the way down to the bulb clip. TRS just makes sure the bi-xenon solenoids don't stick. Then the customer can tweak them however they want.

  • @meade916
    @meade916  13 років тому

    @BeAILsTaR13 i made sure they were perfectly level with eachother and relatively close to where the old ones used to hit (in height). Then i put the lens back over it, install it, and adjust it just like any other headlight...with the housings adjustment screws in back

Now I am looking at doing the retrofit with a color change mod to get them looking perfect. I'm also thinking about doing something different by using a H7 to D2S adapter so I can use stock lexus Phillips ballast and bulbs but room for the dust covers to go back on may be an issue but wont know until I try it. Thanks for sharing your vid man keep up the good work.

      I have the 55watt kit in my head lights. 35 watt kit in my fogs. Both installed over a year ago. The 55 watt ballasts have both been reolaced
      They come with 3 year warranty. Don't have to send nothing back, just email and 2 days later you have a new one. However my 35 watt kit has had 0 problems for over a year. I spent 60$ on Sylvania ultra halogens before I had hids and they didn't last a year. So go morimito brand if you want quality and wanna spend 200$ or do what I'm doing.
