My controller was having issues, so I cleaned it out, and it is now worse than it was before... I guess I just need a new controller. I'm glad this worked for so many others in the comments, but I was not so fortunate.
Same, when I opened it I noticed that the rubber right below the PS button seems a bit bent , I think it might be hitting the board. Now I'm just too lazy to open it again and will live it sitting on dead battery for a while
Tried doing it, casing was stuck, pulled it out, strip came out with it, cleaned it out, reassembled it, lost a screw in the carpet, the light now doesn’t come on and the L2 is still broken
A common mistake is putting the ribbon connecting the LED to the motherboard in backwards so that would be the first thing I'd double-check at least for the LED
Lol😂... The same thing happened to me, I put the blue strip in backwards. Thank you so much for the tutorial, I was able to maintenance my controllers. My daughters spilled soda on one of them and the other had hot chitos debris in it. Props to you for the DIY. Peace ✌️
Tried it and busted my controller, despite being very gentle and carefull. It's that wire connecting both ends of the controller, that white one. One end simply busted when trying to remove it. I notice it's made of the most breakable type of plastic there is, and it can bend/break/tear apart with as little to no pressure. Careful gentlemen, I don't advise removing that white clip that is attached to both main components. If it breaks, and it most probably will, you're F'ed.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is nearly unplayable now because my R2 is randomly registering a button press so Arthur is constantly in Draw mode no matter where I am or who I'm with. Its ruined countless missions because I'm drawing down on a character I shouldn't be & immediate fail.
This is the exact same reason that brought me here too. Been meaning to finish RDR2 for like two months now and I just don't always have the patience to deal with my controller.
Before reading other's comments. I would like to thank you for the video. Along with about 4 or 5 others it helped me take apart and put back together my controler. Not pleasant at first as when assembled the lights were not working which was not the original problem. But it turned out the last ribbon cable insertion was the problem and a little readjustment got the lights to light up whilst still inserting. Starngely the problem of the x button not working was not resolved. It still did not work. So I was thinking it must be clearly dead. No amount of button pressing would get the 'x' button working. So as it was declared dead I allowed my self some extra well. It seemed to make no sense having seen inside becuase I could not imagine where the contacts were -But knowing there seemed all that insulation between the button resulting in me giving a forced push to almost bent the whole plastic fram. It worked. So in with the screws and not fingers crossed. How long it will work I do not know as it was intimitant before. But once it starts working it can work some minutes or an hiur. I will need to see. But would like to thank you for your helpful video. Thank You.
The screws on my controller are much smaller and have a head that's almost tamper-proof. I've tried everything short of drilling to get them out. I have an analog stick drift problem. I hate to have to buy a new controller, but I'm stuck. I'd also like to buy new batteries when these give out--they are a lot cheaper than new controllers.
I recently bought a ps4 controller and immediately I'm having 1 issue, the circle button is not working well, like I needed to press it too hard just for it to function properly, I'm playing tekken and my combo's are always cut because of the circle button not immediately responding. I'm thinking maybe if I disassemble this controller I can fix the issue. and I'm also thinking that maybe this product that I ordered is actually broken or it has some defects. pls I need some advice. Thanks for response.
That is the exact problem I was having with my X button and after taking it apart and cleaning the contact on the board and the contact on the rubber button pad with some isopropyl alcohol it's working like it's brand new
BRUUU, lemme explain what i did. I was fixing a joystick problem, (it was sticking and not moving flawlessly so i wanted to clean it, started dumping alchohol down in the joysticks mechanism, it landed alot on the motherboard below and now for the last 4 hours it hasnt started working, no charge, no light no response. My ps4 is completely unaccesable now😕
You lost it at "Dumping alcohol down the joystick mechanism". Isopropyl alcohol should be applied as needed to the area in question with a q-tip as too much can and will cause damage as you have sadly discovered
Thanks. I decided to try it on my spare controller just because I wanted to see if I could do this without breaking my controller and it worked. But it didn’t fix my problem. The joystick is still messed up. The problem is like if I play a game like Days Gone or Assassins creed the character will walk instead of run like they’re supposed to. But honestly it’s fine. Again, this was just a test run to make sure I wouldn’t break anything when trying to clean my main controller
Nice, that's what I did as well. Tried it out on the secondary controller first to make sure it would work out. Hope you can figure out how to fix the joystick issue. Wish I could've helped.
I was cleaning my ps4 controller and i also had to change the back part. Cuz of it being destroyed and i had to change the piece that is the port for charging. After changing that and that strip thing that connects the controller parts it actually worked and i was very surprised 😭
I did everything as you did and my circle button still won't work, there wasn't any gunk but I cleaned it anyways, it's weird tho because every button works except for the circle button.
Shit. Welp. It seems to work except. I fucked up 2 things. The glass screen for the led. It somehow got between the plastic when putting together and broke. Still seems to work tho... Nd the [O] button stays down and doesnt return up so I guess I gotta open it up again
Honestly it blows my mind that people are even aware of my music and checking it out. Really appreciate your motivation and words of encouragement! Thank you

Its alright. Sometimes we just gotta let go so we can enjoy the better.

sir buy fantech wgp14 pro nova v2 it's cheap and it has hall effect stick and trigger so it will cover you minimum 2 years or more
thanks for the help. the cleaning worked and the controller still works after cleaning, you a real one for this
That's awesome! Glad I could help

Had an X button that worked very poorly, followed this video and now it is once again functioning like new! Thanks Kintential!
Thanks man. Not only they are working. But they are like never before
Awesome!!

Great to hear it worked and the soda didn't fry the controller haha
15:12 I can't get this strip back into the motherboard
Wow bro works perfectly right now you can't believe that after cleaning it, it now works so flawlessly, is like brand new hahaha
So awesome! I'm glad everything worked out!

For some reason my controller doesn't look exactly like that? But it says its a legit controller? Could it be counterfeit?
The gray plastic whatever for the cross square circle and triangle won't go in
Have 1 ?, why do ps4's have different controllers for ps4 ,slim ,pro , and reg ps4.
When I hold r2 it looks to the left do you know why?
Fixed and absolutely perfect
Fantastic news!

Do the PS5 controller next

I failed Wumbology.....twice
Dude is this the same kintential that puts out music ?
Same guy, different era lol I was experimenting with a few video ideas before I decided on music production
Life is an experiment... Keep doing you and keep moving forward best of luck In your endeavors.... My brother.

If your light bar is not working, you’ve done something wrong, tbh.
Did you watch the full video? I showed why the light bar didn't work and fixed it in the end
@@Kintential yeah I did, I was messing around lmfao.
