Why did SONY use resistor wiper potentiometers? They aren't designed to continuously rotate, with micro-adjustment, they're for volume or as a preset adjustable resistor, where they not adjusted regularly, or adjusted and set, any tiny bit of debris between the wiper, will cause it to fail, like the scratching on your volume pot!
That was it, problem solved. I saw all the gunk on the disc that got stuck from the gasket(?), cleaned that too with a cotton swab. Hopefully won't have to open it again but it seems I've broken the components in and it shouldn't happen again.
Worked perfectly for me I used rubbing alcohol and qtips. Mine was Hella dirty after only 2 months of use. I wish you had it were I could send you a tip $. Thanks again !!!
My controller started ghosting after only a year of use and I spent the last two days pouting up a storm about it. I really need to keep that thing clean.
Definitely recommend the third option to a tee. Don't use a q-tip cause some of the hairs can catch & make the drift worse. Instead of the alcohol wipe, I dump a microfiber cloth into rubbing alcohol to clean. Be cautious of the wires for snapping, I broke mine that connected to in game chat but I'm fine without that.
Thanks for the help bro, but this ultimately didn't work out for me. I was destined to fail from the start. A small piece from the white disk thing from inside of the green opening "gate" as you called it, has been damaged and needed replacing (which I can't afford rn & can't risk breaking another piece trying to replace it), hence why it had aggressive stick drift in the first place. No amount of cleaning was going to fix that. It's too complicated for me as it is, and now it's beyond anything that I can do for it. This controller is my NEWER controller. I've hardly used it all that much, but soon after it came out of the box, it already had the drift. Slowly at first, but gradually increasing in aggressiveness. The problem with that is the fact that I'm sure I didn't get a warranty on it, and if I did, it wouldn't matter, because of the fact that I kept it displayed on my desk for at least a year or two before finally opening it. I wanted to open it as a backup when I felt I needed it the most (aka when my OG Ps5 controller got the drift), but the new controller had it too, but even worse. To this day, I'm still using my OG controller (it's my only option), because the drift isn't nearly as bad, and it happens off and on at random times. It can go weeks without any drift, and then it randomly comes back again. The newer controller is unplayable altogether, as EVERYTHING immediately goes to the left continuously without ever stopping. I can't even access a freakin menu to go to a damn game. I've been cheated out of $70 and given a shtty defective controller that I'm permanently stuck with. Smfh 🤬😤😮💨
@@TheMitchZone hey buddy, that's quite unfortunate to have such drift already from the start. This shouldn't happen. Usually ppl get the drift some plays after opening the box. Given the situation u have with that potentiometer, I'd say there isn't much else u can do apart from desoldering the whole thing out and soldering a fresh one in. But I get you, thats a lot of time, investment and risk involved so ppl typically tend to avoid that (i would too!) I guess ur just safe to this day using those wired controllers, they rlly do slay. And yeah, hope ur OG controller survives longer! Thanks for the comment, wish u all the best mate

Also i had stick drift on same blue controller on the left side😂
You missed a ribbon cable on the bottom when reinstalling the controller. You moved it out but never hooked it up, you just hooked up the microphone one. Other then that this is a great video!
@@Gaming_Junkies710 ahh yes, I probably ended up re installing the wire after making the video, missed that probably! Sorry for that, and thanks for your comment :)
@@FuadPhenomenon what is the other wire beside the microphone wire?
Method 3! Thank you buddy your tutorial help me save my controler and money 😊💪💪
Great instruction! My controller is back up and running!
Massive thank you! I had stick drift mostly in my left joystick, the white disc had a brown layer on the ring. It just needed some cleaning and it was fixed. Ty Fuad
