Thank you so much! Instead of the rag, I used q-tips. I bought a $30 camo dualshock from a pawn shop and it was so bad to the point where the triangle and circle buttons wouldn't go down. But I took it apart and fixed it up really well. The only thing is that the buttons are now super quiet. So I guess that's a plus lol. But I really do appreciate this video
lmao...I heard 4 screws n thought "k ..this doesn't so bad"...then he went full autopsy im like....he'll no...surely the more I play the stick will go away
Thanks for the guide, it helped my fix my controller and feel brand new, when I took a look at the buttons the X button was broken but luckily had a spare controller that was broken already so replaced the part instead of having to buy a new controller. Just have to be careful of not loosing the small bolts and not breaking anything inside the controller.
Thank you sooooo much for providing such an awesome video mann, this helped me a ton 2 years later woww, my controller had this problem for time now and I just kept it in my drawer for ages since I couldn't use it due to literally the most important botton on the ps4 controller stuck lol ("the X button") but today I just decided to give it a try and guess what? I was lucky enough to find this video on the top of my recommendations. Keep helping people out like this man, Much love💚 I really appreciate it.💯
Hey mate, thank you so much for the kind words! This is why we put this video's together! Really happy to hear you got your controller working again! :)
I’m 12 and I just did it it wasn’t that hard the buttons were sticky it’s my first time taking it apart and my parents didn’t help I’m glad I didn’t see this comment before because then I would have been to scared and then not had fixed it
When i did that i was extremely mad at you at first because the big pad in the middle fell out and i didnt see how to get it back in and i couldnt fit it back in. Then i just tried to put it back in from the other side. Shouldve done that first. Controller is fixed and at peak performance again. Thanks.
don't blame Sony for the controllers it only happens when you spill shit on it or hit the buttons to fucking much don't blame the entire company for your problem and if it was because of it don't forget Microsoft makes computers meaning they no more about buttons then Sony anyways
The x Button was stuck & the left Analog was only moving left. It took me 30min to follow your steps and now it is FIXED! Thank you so much! Greetings from Costa Rica!
Thank you so much. This really helped as my D Pad silicone worn off and I bought the replacement part from Amazon. I can confirm this works on v2 controller. Just the boards inside the controller are slightly different, but pretty much the same overall. Thanks for saving me £50 of purchasing a new controller.
Thank you so much for this video. Very clear instructions, helped me enormously in understanding the problem with my pad and ordering new parts. Generally I would advise all of us to just contact Sony if within warranty. Otherwise, try and be careful with how you open the outer casing, I used a flat screwdriver to pry all sides one by one carefully so I couldn't damage anything with too much force.
That's great Peter, if it's under warranty definitely grab yourself a fresh controller but we are always happy to help! More videos to come so stay tuned!
Thanks so much dude! I spilled hot sauce all over my controller and was scared it was gonna break, but after cleaning the outside and then watching this to clean the inside, my controller feels and plays like brand new :) this video also taught me how to customize my buttons just in case I ever want to in the future. Thanks so much once again!!
Hey this is a big comment read only if you want to spend 5 minuets of your time. Hey Gamenetics very helpful vid I recently got a new ps4 controller and unfortunately some oil somehow spilled on my controller causing sticky kinda stuck d pad so after watching this vid i took my broken old controller and oppened it up and did everything you did on my broken old controller to learn how to fix and tomorrow iam going to do the same on my other broken controller which still turns on, because the really old controller i practiced already on actually has not been turning on for 6 months now so iam going to be practicing on my other kinda old controller which i had for about 1 year and i started facing some issues but thankfully it still turns on but i still can not play any games on it so thats why i got a new controller which has oil stuck in it now. If my other controller still turns on after i rip it appart and fix it iam going to do it on my main controller which has oil in it.
This truly did work for me, I had an old controller that had a different issue, I took out buttons pad and switched it into my new controller which x button was getting stuck
I needed this, but for others looking to follow this video, take things slow and be gentle as hell! He must have forgot that this is the first time for some of us. When you take the screws out make sure you slowly take it apart. Yanking or even a burst yank will fuck over your controller.
Hey Eric that is great. We are putting out more fix it videos so if anything else happens be on the lookout! Also go check some of our other content! Thanks for the feedback.
For those that scour the comments before the video starts for validation, yeah this works. You do have to actually pay attention to what your doing, otherwise you may mess up the shoulder buttons, but other than that, it completely works!
Thanks for posting this video, I was had some sticky buttons on my controller from 4 years of play and hated the feel of it so decided to try to sort it out. I was utterly terrified to take it apart incase I break it as ps4 controllers aren't cheap but following the steps in the video you helped me take it apart and clean the buttons with alcohol and put it together and it still works thankfully. Whilst taking it apart it was hard to take apart and I accidentally yanked the ribbon cable from the back plastic side and was terrified it broken it but thankfully the light still works. Once again cheers I wouldn't have attempted the fix without this video

I had an issue where the controller buttons were always registering input as well as being stuck, I jist poured vodka on it while mashing the button until it worked, this is a much smarter solution
Followed this through and although the insides to my controller were slightly different, it worked and I couldn’t be happier! The only thing was when reassembling the controller, I smashed a piece of plastic I assume is something to do with the light bar, though the light bar is still working. Thank you so much!!!

Would this work with a jammed d-pad? Because the d-pad on my controller is always inputting to the left. Edit: Found out the problem. The rubber part of the d-pad broke. I replaced it and it’s good as new.
