Thanks for the video! Note that never revisions (the new revision has all silver screws) have two screws less, so you do not need to detach the board. Makes this even easier and a bit less error prone.
After dropping a 2 liter of Code red and having it splash all over, some got in my symbol buttons and were sloggin it down. I noticed it while playing BO6 and it was getting increasingly harder to interact with things (Square) or swap weapons (Triangle) abd just knew some had to had gotten in there. Your video helped me take it apart and clean out the residue AND put it back together and it still works! You saved me $70, thank you!!
Thank you so much for the video! My triangle button wasn't working, and I had no clue how to take my controller apart. Your video helped me so much, and now the triangle button works.
Yes. This worked for me! One day my controller started pressing buttons randomly by itself. I didn't drop it and it wasn't dirty. It was clean as a whistle inside. I took it apart, blew on in and put it back together and now it works!
Thanks for video! It saved my controller, even though I wasn't as relaxed as you while opening and cleaning it 😂. The most annoying part was closing it after cleaning, especially the ribbon part.
I thought my controller had terminal stick drift. Thanks to you I was able to operate and realized that it was in fact terminal. Thanks for the guide, found some real dirty areas in need of cleaning. Unfortunately after removing the joysticks and cleaning everywhere with alcohol, pressurized air, and dry paper towels, I was sure I had fixed the issue. After reassembly I turn on my console and immediately hear the dreadful sound of navigating to the leftmost part of the menu in nanoseconds. The cleaning did nothing; thanks Sony for murdering my controller.
Thanks for the video, it helped a lot. My controller is different but changes in design are insignificant (just two screws less then yours) so thanks again for easy to follow guide.
I lost one of the final two screws. I thought that like I wasn’t going to find it I didn’t so you and I found out that you can use one from the back of the PS4 controller. I am so glad so happy because I spent like two hours trying to find that screw I didn’t find it so I used PS4 one instead still works
Took me a min to do but thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. Just saved me $80. Worked like a charm when i finalky got the controller back together the right way lol.
Thank you so much. I dropped my controller and the X button stopped working.. I had to smack it a few times and it would work for about 3 mins before stopping again.. It eventually became so frustrating I threw the controller at the wall. Then I threw it on the ground it the button stopped working entirely. That's when I stopped being a caveman and decided to open it up. Your video made it pretty simple to do. Cleaned up the area, made sure everything was secure and before I could finish putting it back together the button was working again! I accidentally powered it on while still reassembling it lol. Anyone struggling to get the back part off just make sure the little latches on the front are unlatched. Also, I broke the mic.. the cable ripped somehow.. I didn't detach it when I removed the black plate. Ordered new cables on Amazon even tho i don't use the mic but it was $3 and looks pretty simple to fix. Thanks again!
The controller i have is a bit different compared to the one in the video but overall the video helped me take apart my controller safely so thanks very much!
Cleaning contacts did not make my triangle work again, thanks for the guide, only snapped the set of pins on the bottom trying to remove the ribbon cable and subsequently had the other ends of ribbon cables fall out, used tweezers to get them back, Upon reconstruction my controllers speaker was killed due to me snapping pins The guide is good, I hate ribbon cables, and already bought a new controller thanks
This video helped I noticed the flat rubber for the buttons wasn’t letting tho o get pressed so i took it off and rotated it and it worked thanks i also cleaned it like in the video
Destroyed the side trying to take the back part off, have to get a new one over a sticky square button. The worst part is I just took an alcohol and a q tip after and it fixed the problem.
i had a few buttons that were a little sticky becusee i splashed some mountain dew on my controller. But all i did and it’s fine now it take a que tip dip it in a little bit of water and swab around the bottom
I tried cleaning with 99% rubbing alcohol as well as cleaning the D pad and it still gets stuck going left. I'm not even pushing the button and the d pad is going left. Maybe that's just severe left stick drift I'm not entirely sure.
X, then square and yesterday was the O. I've came to conclusion that Sony totally screwed up this controller. I've had every system ever made n never once have I had a controller issue. Ps5 straight up poor
It isn't rly, you're right. Unless you're familiar with this kinda thing takes time, but if you can manage to do it, it'll save you a bunch of money. Just did mine. Took an hour or so, but got er done.

Reading this after I took the board out.... doh😢

All that pain and suffering just to unstick my pause button. You helped me out massively, anyway, so cheers to that :)
Thank you so much for the video! My triangle button wasn't working, and I had no clue how to take my controller apart. Your video helped me so much, and now the triangle button works.
How did you fix it?
Yes. This worked for me! One day my controller started pressing buttons randomly by itself. I didn't drop it and it wasn't dirty. It was clean as a whistle inside. I took it apart, blew on in and put it back together and now it works!
Just what I was looking for thank you! You just saved me $70 + tax 🙏🏽
My dad snapped the controller out of rage doing this 🤣
Yep same here
I took the little white housing off that connects the ribbon instead of siding the ribbon out and was impossible to put back on
1:07 Wait, look!😳 he also broke off the right latch, making this video 😄😂🤣

Same. I'll never be good at this stuff.
2 years later and this still works thansk a bunch homie i can use my triangle button now lol

What did you use to pry it open/apart? A guitar pick?

Thank you man! This helped a lot !My cousin came over, and when I was gone and had just gunked up my controller with peanut butter and jelly tysm!!
Way more tedious than I anticipated but well worth it. Great instructions overall. All for an x button that kept sticking down. Now it works like new
Hell yeah. Fixed my controller and got it all cleaned up.
Took me a min to do but thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. Just saved me $80. Worked like a charm when i finalky got the controller back together the right way lol.
Thanks bro! Fixed some major stickiness today.

What kind of screwdriver did you use?
2 mm
Yay! I did this and fixed my controller that I accidentally dropped--I thought I was going to have to buy a new one. Thank you!!
"accidentally dropped".... Yaaaa ok 😂😅
Cleaning contacts did not make my triangle work again, thanks for the guide, only snapped the set of pins on the bottom trying to remove the ribbon cable and subsequently had the other ends of ribbon cables fall out, used tweezers to get them back,

My newborn spit up on me 😂… thanks for the walkthrough… saved my controller.
i dont know what year you bought that controller but mine will physically not go back together and ive done this 1000 times. they changed it all.
Great video, helped me out so much
"Simply pull the ribbon cables" 😅 And........mine just snapped soooooooooooo fkn easyy!!! Thanks hahah
This video helped I noticed the flat rubber for the buttons wasn’t letting tho o get pressed so i took it off and rotated it and it worked thanks i also cleaned it like in the video

All cleaned up and dusted out, now I can rage back in peace! 😃 🙏
Awesome video. Thanks! ❤
very easy to follow along! thanks!
Thanks needed to fix my speed bottum which involved a different thing but ur basics helped
Appreciate it! I bought bad thumb stick extenders and it got all up in there.
Destroyed the side trying to take the back part off, have to get a new one over a sticky square button. The worst part is I just took an alcohol and a q tip after and it fixed the problem.
Super useful for cleaning out some misplaced pasta sauce😅. Hopefully this will help clean the joystick drift on my other one as well.
Thank you for the video, I managed to clean my controller with it, very helpful :)
Thanks this helped a lot!
Thank you, this video helped so much!!!! i appreciate it!!!
Yo I have a question my Spider-Man limited edition controller has a sticky d pad and idk why I dot. Abuse me controller how do I fix it
Thank you for the video and great advice!
Best video ever so helpfull
Worked for me!! Thanks
Thanks just fixed my controller 😊😊😊
I tore the small mic ribbon on accident but when I put it back together the mic worked perfectly fine. What does it do
Hard motherfucking controller, bring me the ps4 one , so fuckin easy and I'm not afraid of snapping it in half like this one
Thanks for the video. This was very helpful!
Legend, thanks mate! 😊
Thank you. Was so damn easy lol
I did it, all went well, however, followed every step and finished with two spare screws
Did this to fix my up button not working and didn't help. Is this controller just useless now?
great tutorial!
I got frustrated and threw tne controller, it has a crack down the whole subframe
What screwdriver set do you specifically use?
A small one
Mine didn’t have that white bar on the inside of the controller, but it’s fixed 😂 now thanks
This video is clutchhhh👌👌👌
Thanks dog. My up button suddenly stopped working. Don't understand why
You didn't do the share and option buttons
Did you figure it out?
Not so deep clean after all 😂
Thank you mister
Thank you so much I’m a 12 year old boy and I was able to do this
So the bottom tag thing snapped and now it's broken and it just would not go in the thing just kept bending
Very helpful… THX !! ;-)
I fucked up the bottom ribbon cable but I don’t really use the mic anyway so it’s fine I guess lol thank you for the help!
Thanks man big help
i had a few buttons that were a little sticky becusee i splashed some mountain dew on my controller. But all i did and it’s fine now it take a que tip dip it in a little bit of water and swab around the bottom
Thx you bro ssooooo much❤❤❤
Controller wasn’t working. Did full reassembly and apparently I plugged back in whatever came unplugged
DualS***
Buttons are getting stuck in the first month! Old F510 controller could work for years in my hands without cleaning and disassembling
Kinda messed up and popped the triggers off because I thought that was a step
The ps4 controller was much easier to disassemble
Im upset that I even have to do this with a PS5 controller for there to be a video on how to fix them
After all that and my X button still doesn’t work :(
Never clean the flex ribbon cable with isopropanol. The flex ribbon cable contains graphite and you can polish it away this way!
Thanks
1:07 Wait, look!😳he's already broken off the right latch, making this video 😄😂🤣
Take apart easy = breaking 1 latch, 1 microphone and detaching 1 speaker all by accident
YOU SAVED MY LIFE TYSM I DONT HAVE TO BUY A NEW ONE
"Snap" at 1:28 is the hardest part for me... so scary.
Thank you but I lost the share button
Overkill
Just spray contact cleaner into the buttons jod done, no need to take apart.
The back isn’t coming off!!!
Will this work on buttons not working??
Did it?
No
not as easy as it seems when trying to pop off my controller it broke man.
Ripped the cable for the microphone -.-
Thanks had some sticky buttons from kid playing. I've cleaned my ps4 controllers but this was like brain surgery
Why do they make these things harder to break into than Fort nox
Cause they want you to just buy a new one.
I tried cleaning with 99% rubbing alcohol as well as cleaning the D pad and it still gets stuck going left.
I'm not even pushing the button and the d pad is going left. Maybe that's just severe left stick drift I'm not entirely sure.
Ad after ad after ad
So glad UA-cam vanced still works. I haven't had an ad in about 3 maybe 4 years. I forgot what they are
Still stick drift
My x button has been sticky since the day I got my ps5
Same when I bought the NEW black remote at the time. My “O” was sticky
X, then square and yesterday was the O. I've came to conclusion that Sony totally screwed up this controller. I've had every system ever made n never once have I had a controller issue. Ps5 straight up poor
Ok
I've stopped watching after 2mins that is not easy
Damn some people are just born stupid huh 🤦🏽♂️
