I met David Draiman when he yanked me by the collar in a crowd and the band signed my 10000 Fists album. He gave me a giant hug, stared me straight in the eye and took the time to love and appreciate me as a fan. Forever my hero
Yes it is but from personal experience I always advise listening to both versions because a lot of people I know don't like the unedited version even though it's the one I prefer
@@andyv2209 What radio station plays the unedited version?? I’ve always seen this as a song about co-dependence. Despite how poorly she treats him, he loves her, he hates her, he can’t live without her. He knows that the relationship is destructive, but he can’t bring himself to get away. David Draiman is one of the best male vocalists alive. Dude’s got a voice like a Lamborghini V12 engine. In softer, more civilized moments, it’s a soothing rumble, immense power under restraint. Then he hits the throttle and it’s like all hell breaks loose with a roaring howl of power that’s both terrifying and entrancing. A lot of the music he writes is very introspective and deals with difficult mental health issues or other serious matters in the world today, and he can put so much emotion into his singing that he often brings me to tears. A true artist.
...no...Disturbed's is the best version. Proof in the pudding? Paul Simon said it was better than his version,(the original,) and is the ONLY version Simon and Garfunkle have officially endorsed as worthy.
Oh my goodness...you have to hear him sing Sound of Silence!!! His voice is so awesome and versatile!!! Love and blessings from the great state of Texas! 💜🙏
This track came out back in 2005, when I was in high school, wondering, what the hell happened to Disturbed, and asking myself, are they still recording?. Then, after several hours past, I turn on MTV(I know right lol) and instantly, the advertisement for their album, Ten thousand fist appeared on my TV screen, with this song. You/y'all have NO idea of the raw energy I felt that day. Beyond epic. Beautiful reaction, my brother 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
Thanks for doing Stricken, my all time fav from them, David Draiman is the vocalist. Check Down with the Sickness then Sound of Silence from them, you will be amazed it's the same band, great reaction.
He did a cover of Simon and Garfunkel's Sounds of Silence. But would recommend watching the original first. Perhaps you could do them one after the other. It would be interesting
I have loved Disturbed for well over 20 years- and rock/metal for 45 of my 55 years. Hard rock has always kept me interested and engaged musically, unlike other genres that I also listen to that wax and wane over time. It allows outlet for depth of feeling that other forms of music can't come close to. Dave Draiman, the singer for Disturbed, is one of the greatest (his piercings are called a double labret {pronounce "la- bray"} which are not in the lip itself, but the space between chin and lower lip). He was trained as a Jewish cantor in his youth, which is a form of classical vocal training that can be as involved and intense as opera. If you watch Disturbed's version of Sound of Silence, I highly suggest you watch the live version, from the Conan O'Brien show- the performance itself was a masterpiece. It was undoubtedly the greatest live performance I've ever witnessed by any artist or group in any genre. I think you might enjoy a trip down this rabbit hole, as their repertoire is expansive, since Disturbed has been actively performing for going on 3 decades, and while they stick to their core sound for the most part, there are some nifty curve balls thrown in, from time to time, and obvious personal interests that become a vocal point, such as suicide prevention and military support.
I hear you about shying away from hip hop. Hip hop is awesome. GR8 for a night out. But rock/metal just has this way of telling emotional stories. The instruments alone can make you feel certain emotions. Then you add the lyrics. CRAZY!!!!! There's a live, extended version of a TOOL song, that when i play it for people, they all say that the extended instrumental part either makes them almost cry or puts them in a phenomenally happy mood.
Since everyone is recommending Sound of Silence, which is kinda off-brand from Disturbed's usual stuff... some of my favs that are more along the same lines as Stricken would be Stupify, Indestructible, Down with the Sickness, Prayer, and The Light.
The importance of a great rock lead singer is that he has to deliver the feeling & passion in the vocals - Roger Daltrey (lead singer of The Who) doesn't write the lyrics, but he delivered the songs exactly how they were written. David Draiman of Disturbed is undeniable as a singer - delivers vocals w/ melody, precision & passion... His lyrics are dark, deep and cryptic... he had a chin piercing before, but he got rid of them a while ago😁
Another song you should give a listen to is *Sound Of Silence* even though its a cover they do it so much justice. The singer's name is *David Draiman* and yes those are lip piercings. Some more song titles to peruse (check out) *Down With The Sickness, Stupify, Land Of Confusion* and *Prayer.* Love Peace and Happiness Y'all !!
One of my favorite bands, and as a veteran my FAVE tune by them is "Indestructible". Please react to the official video with lyrics or you'll miss a lot of the meaning as its pretty dense lyrically. KEEP ROCKING OUT!!!!
Disturbed puts on one hell of a show!! I got to shoot photos of one of their shows.... lots of pyro!! David Draiman the singer is a classically trained singer.
Like a bloodstained hurricane is one of my favorite lines because I feel it, I grew up in a house with only women so I saw a lot of bloodstained hurricanes
David Draimen's ability to tap into rage that he felt when his gf committed suicide is heard in this song & Inside the Fire. It's taken me 20 years since losing my son to be able use that anger in any kind of positive way. Disturbed's The Light has become my go-to when my issues (of which there are many lol) raise their ugly heads. You 2 are cool as hell so I'm I'm recommending this song even if you don't react to it to listen after a tough day. Musically Sound of Silence is a must-do change-your-life song. But The Light is something special too ... just in a different way.
Please please react to Disturbeds official videos for Prayer, Inside the Fire, Stupify and Down with the Sickness!!!!! You won't be disappointed I promise!!! David is beyond amazing!!!
I'm very happy you didn't choose to react to their cover of "Sound of Silence" first. Most people start there these days, and while it's an impressive display of vocal range, it's even more amazing when you know them more for songs like this. Before you get to that one though, you should listen to some of their older tracks - in my humble opinion anyway. My first experience with Disturbed was back in 2002's "Down with the Sickness." Much like System of a Down it really had an energy that you couldn't ignore. Especially for those days when you need to deal with the demons in your head, you can just crank the volume and shout it out. \m/
I watched someone who did start with Sound of Silence and it was an interesting experience. She had heard of the band but knew David best for the guttural yells of "Down with the Sickness" and the just sheer shock was amazing.
haha that was so fun! great to see you rock out and to rock out with you :) :) as an introductory song to Disturbed yes that came on like a blood stained hurricane!!! Always loved this one. I am sure everyone will say this, if you want to hear the complete opposite of what these guys can do, check out Sounds of Silence :)
Love your videos man.Disturbed is an awesome band. David Draiman has an amazing voice. You need to check out stupify an excellent song. Also sound of silence you will love them both.

Just got to get all their albums man and out your headphones on. I listen to all my music on headphones, you can hear everything, this band is full of emotion, I love them
My favorite Rock band. We've seen them in concert 7 times and back in 2019 this was the first Rock concert I took my daughter too (she was 12). They are amazing live!
I love Disturbed - their first album is my fave. You should check out their first songs Down With The Sickness, The Game, and my personal fave Violent Fetish. I love the arrangements of their songs and how he doesn't always sing on the normal beat - it also gets my aggression out when I need that outlet.
I totally understand about how music can make you feel emotions from the artists. I see a lot of recommendations for their version of Sound of Silence and I do too but also react to the original by Simon and Garfunkel. Same song, both amazing, both beautiful but definitely makes you feel completely different when listening to them. There's another idea for videos, listen to an original then a cover and decide who was better...but then there can be a lot of arguments in the comments.
David Draiman...a voice to die for! A powerful yet soulful voice that can go from warm baritone to angelic tenor, from clear as a crystal to rasp/distortion/vocal fry and back on a dime, which is incredibly difficult to do and he makes it look so damn easy! He has a timbre in his voice that I've never heard before........just hauntingly beautiful and pure tonal properties to it! An awesome talent. Loved your reaction and your take on the performance Rob. Try "Deceiver", "The Night", "The Game", "Indestructible", "The Light", "Enough", "Violence Fetish" by Disturbed too. They're a bit heavy like "Stricken". If you want to really hear his versatility...watch one of their few ballads..."Sound of Silence" live on the Conan O'Brien show. Btw....he was sick for the performance too .....and still aced it imho!!
I love Disturbed, his Amazing ranges and unique awesome sound, now that you've her this style of his voice You MUST ck out "The Sound of Silence" Will blow your mind...Epic group...Thank you, such a great band...Peace J.
This dudes voice.....thats it, that is my comment...THIS DUDES VOICE. (2 more from them - "inside the fire" , "Vengeful one" - and Sound of Silence , the live from Conan Obrien show one)
Disturbed. The light is a must, hold on to memories too, or Give me a reason to fight, those helped me through some very dark times...they are extremely good songs by them
I would definitely suggest a few of Disturbed's lesser known songs as well. Things like "The Game", "Droppin' Plates", "Never Again", and one of my personal favorites "Another Way to Die".
I already knew you'd love this from hearing you say when it comes to rock, you like lead singers w/ more up tempo flows that resemble hip hop. And that's this dude Damian right here. Seen DISTURBED live once....sounds just as good as their studio recorded albums.
If you do check out Disturbed Sound of Silence do the one from Jimmy Fallon when they performed live so you can see that he doesn’t use any voice stuff it’s all natural and he is a voice coach that’s his profession
Jay, I’ve watched your journey from the start. Experiencing new music and especially metal. As a life long metal fan, I can tell you get the music. You totally get it. Seen Disturbed live 3 times and amazing live band. He doesn’t need to jump around on stage , but completely controls the crowd with his voice and look.
Disturbed is my number-one top favorite band ever since I was a kid when I first heard their song prayer I know that you have watched a couple of other songs from him and don't be afraid to keep digging through cuz he's got a lot of gold and stuff you can definitely hear the passion in his voice and that's why I love it
He has snake bite labret piercings. David Draiman is an absolute Legend. I've been listening to him since early teens. Sound of Silence like many suggested for the complete versatility of his voice. Inside the fire is another good one for the raising awareness it was meant to, Stupify, 10 thousand fists in the air. Another band worth checking out is Linkin Park's Numb, one step closer, crawling, My above all favorites from Linkin Park Castle of glass and new Divide. This is the genre I listen to all day every day. Linkin Park's lead singer Chester Bennington hit notes just like Disturbed's David Draiman and the lives they touch are forever changed. Chester may be gone but his Legend lives on.
David Draiman is the most amazing vocalist. Disturbed is one of my favorite bands. He can scream like a maniac but his voice is also incredibly melodic.
His name is David Draiman, he is trained as a cantor. You have to do the Studio version of the song " SOUNDS OF SILENCE " the video is crazy and this song written I think in 1963 by Paul Simon is very deep, and applicable to today it is not just a song but an emotional experience.
Like a lot of others have said, Sound of Silence is a MUST listen to. But would suggest the original from Simon and Garfunkel first. A back to back review would be awesome.
Love the content! Try out reacting to: Florida Georgia Line - Cruise The Offspring - You are gunna go far kid Outkast - Hey Ya Escape the Fate - Not Good Enough for Truth in Cliche Bullet for my Valentine - Hearts Burst into Fire All of them are bops
You should really get some headphones... a computer's speakers just can't properly present rock how it should be absorbed. There's so many subtle undertones and such that you'll miss. Seriously, give it a try with headphones... It's so much better!
I cannot fathom the situation that lead to the creation of lyrics in that one line: "You come on like a blood stained hurricane. Leave me alone, let me be this time."
Everyone will say Sound of Silence , it's one of the best covers ever. But it isnt all that much "Disturbed". You should listen to Inside the Fire , or Indestructible.
I am so glad to have stumbled onto your reaction channel, and as a fellow Okie, I would love to see you two react to Disturbed- A Reason To Fight- Live. The non-live version is great too, but the live version will probably be unlike anything you've reacted to before and could possibly save someone's life....literally. It also gives you another side of Disturbed...a very good side. God bless from Lawton.
Not a bad song on their first three albums, some slow ones on 'Believe' but not bad. Ten Thousand Fists, Land of Confusion(Phil Collins cover, you should hear his first) Deify, Stupify, Droppin Plates, .. so many
Great song choice, amazing band, they will constantly blow your mind. As HollyP said do "sound of silence" next to see the range of what they can do. but I would also recommend "Inside the fire"
So glad you liked Disturbed. They are one of my favorite bands. You'll get lots of suggestions for Sound of Silence and you will enjoy it, it's amazing. There are basically 3 versions-- 1) the official music video, which is just as impactful visually as it is musically, 2) the live version on Conan and 3) the Houston concert with Myles Kennedy. I would personally watch them in that order. There are so many great songs by Disturbed though. The Light is a good one to share with Amber. 👍 Immortalized and Indestructible are also great. They've done a lot of other covers (besides Sound of Silence) that are awesome too but you might want to hear the originals first to get the best appreciation of their versions.
I met David Draiman when he yanked me by the collar in a crowd and the band signed my 10000 Fists album. He gave me a giant hug, stared me straight in the eye and took the time to love and appreciate me as a fan. Forever my hero

Ahhhh love them. Seen them twice in concert. They are awesome. Missing Amber. 🙄
He has also covered Stings "If I ever lose faith in you" Not this hard but awesome cover.
Down with Sickness a must listen as well!!
No lie, no cap. Rock and metal will blow your channel up! Need proof? I just subscribed to your channel because you reacted to a metal song
And this is the first guitar solo in one of his songs. and this song is from her third album.
His name is David Draiman, he is trained as a cantor. You have to do the Studio version of the song " SOUNDS OF SILENCE " the video is crazy and this song written I think in 1963 by Paul Simon is very deep, and applicable to today it is not just a song but an emotional experience.
End of Heartache by Killswitch Engage as well as your betrayal by bullet for my valentine
I'd also highly recommend the song Mistress
Like a lot of others have said, Sound of Silence is a MUST listen to. But would suggest the original from Simon and Garfunkel first. A back to back review would be awesome.
Love the content! Try out reacting to:
Florida Georgia Line - Cruise
The Offspring - You are gunna go far kid
Outkast - Hey Ya
Escape the Fate - Not Good Enough for Truth in Cliche
Bullet for my Valentine - Hearts Burst into Fire
All of them are bops
Sound of Silence is a must, but if you really want a treat, check out the duet version with Myles Kennedy (Live in Houston). Wow!
PLEASE listen to Another Way to Die by Disturbed. It has such a deep meaning and my favorite song by far
I've been watching you for like 2 years and I think this was my favorite reaction of yours.
God bless from Lawton.
disturbed -> remember. greetings from Brazil
Not a bad song on their first three albums, some slow ones on 'Believe' but not bad. Ten Thousand Fists, Land of Confusion(Phil Collins cover, you should hear his first) Deify, Stupify, Droppin Plates, .. so many
hi jay , i love disturbed . david draimen has ridiculous range , listen to "sound of silence" which is a cover of simon & garfunkel's 70's hit
