Megadeth is off the charts. The musicality, and lyrics are amazing. They could’ve written 6 songs with all the different riffs in this tune. Great choice. Great post!
The drummer Nick Menza passed away, his father Don Menza was a saxophonist, who played with the Maynard Ferguson Orchestra, and he also played with Buddy Rich and was part of the Tonight Show Band in the 70s. Guitarist Marty Friedman (Curly hair) played with a band called Cacophony, with fellow guitar shredder, Jason Becker. Jason played with David Lee Roth’s solo band and played on his album, A little ain’t enough, Jason later found out he had ALS, he is still alive and composes music. Marty Friedman has put out many solo albums and now lives in Japan.
Dave Mustaine always held his band mates to the highest standards regarding their musical abilities. That's why Megadeth always has sounded so tight throughout every change in lineup.
This amazing drummer was Nick Menza who passed away on May 21, 2016 of a Heart Attack while playing at a jazz club in LA. He is one of my all time favorite drummers. This is my favorite line-up of Megadeth. I saw this line-up of Dave Mustaine (G/V), Marty Friedman (G), David Ellefson (B) and Nick Menza (D) twice in concert. Cool side note, in 1994 I worked with Nick Menza's sister-in-law and I was able to get my Rust in Peace cd inlet signed by Nick.

James Hetfield and Dave Mustaine wrote most of the songs for what would be Metallica's debut album "Kill 'em all" in 1983. Unfortunately, Dave Mustaine was also a drug addict and violent alcoholic in his 20's at the time... even James Hetfield was intimidated by him. Metallica would take a trip to NYC to sign w/ managers Johnny and Marsha Zazula and record their debut album in '83 for their Megaforce Record label ... but Mustaine's violent behavior was escalating... so, the decision to fire him was made before reaching New York. The day Kirk Hammett (lead guitar) was due to arrive in NYC to audition for Metallica... Dave Mustaine was fired and given a bus ticket back to L.A. ... 'Rust in Peace' was an album made w/ some measure of sobriety... both Mustaine and bassist David Ellefson had been in rehab and made some of the best music on that record, which became Megadeth's first platinum album (1 million copies sold) in the US. Many Megadeth fans pick 'Rust in Peace' as their best record... the same way Metallica fans picked 'Master of Puppets' as their fave Metallica album. However, both Mustaine and Ellefson revealed years later that they were broke from abusing drugs in the 80's and had to start from scratch all over again, despite selling millions of records. And like Metallica... Megadeth experimented w/ non-metal influences in the 90's and it didn't work for Megadeth the way it did for Metallica, especially after the massive success of their 1991 self-titled 'black' album... Megadeth scored a 2x platinum album 'Countdown to Extinction' in 1992 but they could never match the success of Metallica. Still, Megadeth did extremely well for themselves...

Now you gotta listen to Sweating Bullets but the 5 min version with the guitar intro. That song kicks azz! I was hoping you would've played some Paul Di'anno solo or some Iron Maiden with Paul but doesn't look like it. RIP to Paul Di'anno. The first 2 Maiden albums are classic and great from start to finish. He had some great solo albums as well.
As to your drummer burning calories question, here's what Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee said: "I was curious because after a show, y’know, I’m whupped man, and I’m like, 'I’m curious. I’m going to get one of those pedometers that joggers put on their shoes,'” Lee tells Vevo. "The things that tell you how far you go? I was curious, like 'Man, I know I’ve got to be getting some miles in - no question.' I put it on and after the show I took it off and I looked down and it said 13.1 miles. I was like 'What? That’s insane, dude!'"
To this day, my favorite Megadeth song is still "Hook In Mouth". The message for my generation, the anti PMRC (Parents Music Resource Center), anti Tipper Gore and anti "Explicit Lyrics" sticker that they put on albums. I'm 56 and will still crank that in my car.
Oh my… this is one I have been waiting for.. outstanding🎉 Thanks!!! Dave’s’ a gunslinger..this is off one of the finest albums in the history of rock and roll..Megadeth is a deep rabbit hole to discover😂
I'm glad you guys found this song. As a Metal Head from the early 80's through its heyday, there were few bands as musically "tight" as Megadeth. Appreciate your take, and God bless you guys.
I remember when this song came out and thinking, is he referencing the "Holy War" issue from Punisher? I was so validated when he was on Mtv later and pulled out the comic to show his inspiration.
Peace Sells is a must. Fun fact..... Dave named the band Megadeth so while you looked thru records you would have to go thru Megadeth before you reached Metallica.
Guitarist/Lead Singer Dave Mustang (now a born again Christian) was a founding member and lead guitarist for Metallica before he was fired and given a bus ticket home. He never really got over that. Megadeth was his answer.
That’s was the reason that I said NO to war when I was 17 years old. I know that cost me a lot. Because I lived in the middle of the Cold War in a Communist country. Anyone else notice how Amber just keeps getting more gorgeous? Jay, it's obvious you're treating your lady right! It's such a pleasure to watch you two interact with such love and mutual respect. Y'all are a great example to the rest of us, and such a beautiful reminder of how we all should be treating each other. Y'all keep doing what you do so well; that's why we're here!
Hey guys just so you know, The “Punishment Due” part of this song is about the character the “Punisher” if you’re familiar at all. Other great songs from this album are “Hangar 18” if you like blistering solos, “5 Magics” which is also a great song, and “Tornado of Souls” is also great and has what many consider to be the best Metal guitar solo ever. All these are worth checking out as this album is considered by many Metal fans to be the Gold standard and possibly the best Metal album ever made.
I am an old metalhead that grew up in the 80s but SOMEHOW missed this song, since I didn't listen to Megadeth then. I learned of this song via UA-cam reactions and I think yours is the best of all of them.
Watching our couples head banging and accepting this song into their narrative is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen as a metal fan. They totally got it and I'm here for it. I fucking love our boy's eyes during the guitar solo. It's a very hard solo to play and the fact that they appreciate a lead singer playing lead guitar makes me happy Beyond words. Their enthusiasm for this track gives me Faith in the world. They totally got IT and loved IT. That's what metal is for

This was my first concert! Testament -Souls of Black Megadeth - Rust in Peace Judas Priest - Painkiller You cannot beat the 80’s music or bands! Living through the 80’s was the best era because everything was new. The best music
Megadeth's greatest lineup! The two Dave's are fantastic, Marty Friedman on lead guitar and the late great Nick Mendozza on drums. This, to me is where Megadeth surpassed Metallica.
As of 2024, Megadeth still has several active and former members who are alive, while some have passed away. Here's a breakdown of key members, both living and deceased: Current Members: Dave Mustaine (Lead vocals, guitar) Age: 62 (Born September 13, 1961) Status: Alive Role: Founder, primary songwriter, and constant member of Megadeth since its formation in 1983. Kiko Loureiro (Guitar) Age: 52 (Born June 16, 1972) Status: Alive Role: Joined Megadeth in 2015, formerly a member of Angra. Dirk Verbeuren (Drums) Age: 49 (Born January 8, 1975) Status: Alive Role: Joined in 2016, previously known for his work with Soilwork. James LoMenzo (Bass) Age: 64 (Born January 13, 1960) Status: Alive Role: Rejoined the band in 2021, having previously been with the band from 2006 to 2010. Deceased Members: Nick Menza (Drums) Lifespan: July 23, 1964 - May 21, 2016 Age at Death: 51 Role: Drummer during the classic Megadeth period (1989-1998). Died of heart failure while performing with his band, OHM. Gar Samuelson (Drums) Lifespan: February 18, 1958 - July 14, 1999 Age at Death: 41 Role: Original drummer (1984-1987) and contributed to Megadeth's early albums. Passed away due to liver failure. Rusty Day (Bass, unofficial/early contributor) Lifespan: March 29, 1945 - June 3, 1982 Age at Death: 37 Role: Not officially in Megadeth but worked in their early days. Megadeth has seen numerous lineup changes over the years, with Dave Mustaine being the only constant member since the band’s inception. Other key members from various lineups are still alive but have moved on to other projects or retired.
My daughter surprised me with tickets for Megadeth last month and i CANNOT praise this band's live show enough. Dave sounded unbelievably great and the band, as expected, kicked ass!
Nick, R.I.P. Knowing that you're looking down on us and realizing that METAL is still alive and kicking because of a huge contribution that you made, fills me with HEAVY joy!!

The first song by these guys to get my attention was "Peace Sells...But Whose Buyin?" I saw them live three times, last time about a year ago, and they still sound amazing! I would like to suggest.."Symphony of Destruction" "Hangar 18" and "A Tout La Monde" Great videos as always👍
The first part of this song "holy wars" was inspired by the reaction that Dave got when he said something to the line of, "this is for 'the cause'", in Ireland in the 80s, unaware of the catholic and protestant divide...this caused him to reflect on how ppl kill each other over religion...the second part of the song "the punishment due" is about the Marvel Comic book character, the Punisher.
I was laughing when I saw you guys were listening to this killer track!!! Just wait!!! You are getting ready to be blown away......! And get 3 different guitar solos in one song!
The first time I ever watched headbangers ball as a kid this video was on there and I thought this was just normal for metal and that I merely hadn’t been exposed yet. Years later it’s clear to me that I happened upon a masterpiece. (Hangar 18 came out a couple months later and I was equally blown away.) Little did I know I was tuning in during an incredibly special time for heavy music.
Marty Friedman is the second guitarist and this was his first record with the band and I believe that he took them musically to another level his playing fit really well with the band and tornado of souls has been referred to as one of the best guitar solos ever
Megadeth especially this lineup is one of my Top Favorite bands in my top 5. Their Bassist is one of my Biggest and Earliest influences and got to meet him and he signed my Bass. He's Super Cool and Very Nice! David Ellefeson is a Beast on the Bass!!

Those backing tapes certainly work hard these days.
Amen!
The second verse is about Frank Castle aka The Punisher(The Punishment Due)Dave is a huge Marvel Comics fan
I remember when this song came out and thinking, is he referencing the "Holy War" issue from Punisher? I was so validated when he was on Mtv later and pulled out the comic to show his inspiration.
@@tuffs4itThe Holy Wars bit of the song has nothing to do with The Punisher. It was to do with “The Troubles” in Northern Ireland.
Thanks for the post. I was at a show in Allentown, PA in 1991 on this tour. This was exactly how it was. Great show.
Peace Sells is a must.
Fun fact..... Dave named the band Megadeth so while you looked thru records you would have to go thru Megadeth before you reached Metallica.
No kidding?! I've never heard that, but now that I have I certainly don't doubt it.
Not if you go backwards through the records or just go straight to the Metallica ones lol
Never has this song been More Prescient than it is today.
Specially the Last line "next thing you know they'll take my thoughts away"
Add also “a country that’s divided surely will not stand”
Guitarist/Lead Singer Dave Mustang (now a born again Christian) was a founding member and lead guitarist for Metallica before he was fired and given a bus ticket home. He never really got over that. Megadeth was his answer.
Symphony of destruction is a great track from this band.
gotta do Peace sells
And ... Wake Up Dead
yes
Holy Wars is a masterpiece. Probably one of the top 3 thrash metal songs ever written if not the top one
Megadeth is Legendary!
Every time Dave comes out of that last guitar solo, I feel like I was holding my breath the entire time lol.
Lots of tension in this song.
Thank you, thank you, and thank you.
You are very welcome
That’s was the reason that I said NO to war when I was 17 years old. I know that cost me a lot.
Because I lived in the middle of the Cold War in a Communist country. I put upset all my family and some parents friends , I didn’t follow the Government orders.
The video and the lyrics are very well edited.
Cool reaction guys
Keep it up 👍
Anyone else notice how Amber just keeps getting more gorgeous? Jay, it's obvious you're treating your lady right! It's such a pleasure to watch you two interact with such love and mutual respect. Y'all are a great example to the rest of us, and such a beautiful reminder of how we all should be treating each other. Y'all keep doing what you do so well; that's why we're here!
Yeah…absolute smoke show!
Don’t forget she has also been pregnant three times! You’re right, though! She’s gorgeous and Jay is lucky to have her in his life!
I knew I couldn't be the only one who noticed...sheesh she is looking crazy good lately
TORNADO OF SOULS - guitar solo is considered one of the greatest solos in metal history
This is one of the greatest metal songs of all time. Some people consider Megadeth's 'Rust in Peace' album the greatest metal album of all time
Check out their song "Wake Up Dead" official video by Megadeth
That's more of a deep cut for people who are fans, not for people just starting to listen to Megadeth.
they should probably react to symphony of destruction, peace sells foreclosure of a dream or tornado of souls first!
That's what metal is for
Peace Sells, Sweating Bullets, In My Darkest Hous, Angry Again amd Skin O My Teeth are great songs of theirs to check out
The Megadeth claws have sunk deep for you both.. enjoy the journey of discovery you are about to embark on.. the cool part is we get to ride along!!
Megadeath definition: A unit of measure counting the number of deaths from a nuclear war at a million people. They took the "a" out of the spelling.
The cool part about Musteine’s solo(the ending one)
It was done in one take!
Dave Musteine it’s a beast in riffs, also has some tasteful solos
Please play Hanger 18 or Tornado of Souls next YOU’ll LOVE THEM Thanks
Another awesome reaction video Jay and Amber….. Canadian Boy up here who wants to say a big thank you for all the videos you post as I watch them all and your insights and analysis are incredibly insightful and resonates… always …. Jay… you stay strong my friend and remember that you have a legion of people out here who appreciate and care about you more than you’ll ever know….. Stay Gold both of you!
I think the only song of theirs I could name is "Sweating Bullets".
This was my first concert!
Testament -Souls of Black
Megadeth - Rust in Peace
Judas Priest - Painkiller
You cannot beat the 80’s music or bands! Living through the 80’s was the best era because everything was new.
The best music
Megadeth's greatest lineup! The two Dave's are fantastic, Marty Friedman on lead guitar and the late great Nick Mendozza on drums. This, to me is where Megadeth surpassed Metallica.
It's Nick Menza.
Thanks. I had a brain fart.

Paul Di'Anno, the original singer for heavy metal band Iron Maiden, has died at the age of 66
This entire album has next level guitar work. Best Megadeath album. One of the best metal albums ever!
Youthanasia for me
He wrote this after an experience in N. Ireland.
Yeah he assumed ireland was a united country , first verses make sense then
My daughter surprised me with tickets for Megadeth last month and i CANNOT praise this band's live show enough. Dave sounded unbelievably great and the band, as expected, kicked ass!
Greatest Metal Song Ever!!
First song I usually play when I pick up my guitar! My absolute favorite guitar piece ever! Rock on RobSqaud!
Best heavy metal song of all time. Saw them two years ago and they played this live and didn’t miss a note. Phenomenal
I'm a huge fan of Megadeth.
You're always guaranteed epic riffs.
Angry Again, Trust & A Tout le Monde should be your next reaction to these guys
Nick, R.I.P. Knowing that you're looking down on us and realizing that METAL is still alive and kicking because of a huge contribution that you made, fills me with HEAVY joy!!
Dave is pretty much responsible for the 80s thrash sound not saying he's better than anyone but just the facts
He wrote every riff on Metallica’s Killem all and that’s technically the first thrash metal album .. so you are spot on brotha
@@SGED392 don't forget King also played with Dave back in the day and picked up that style as well that's Slayer added to that list that's the big 3 at the top right there they all developed their own sound over time but there it is
@@stevew7784 no Dave no Slayer Haha
@@SGED392 Like hell he did.

This Song is what sealed the deal to make me a Megadeath Fan. I can remember watching the video for the first time and i was Memorized.
Your next Megadeth reaction needs to be "Symphony of Destruction HD (Live in Argentina)"
You are listening to the greatest metal song of all time ! ENOUGH SAID!! And the greatest band of all time MEGADETH !
Absolute shredding!!
Probably the most technical metal song ever
Tool has entered the chat
@@fullmatthew
Song, not band
Most Metal bands were more technical in entire genres than Megadeth.
German, Brazilian, British Thrash, hell Voivod, Coroner, Annihilator, etc.
@@murk4552
Again, I said SONG !!! Not band wtf
I love rocking with you guys LOL the look of Amber's face at the end of that song is hilarious love it
Angry Again goes so HARD!!!!!!!
I always listen to the Extended Version of that song. It's really awesome!
I was 24 when this came out, what an awesome album and it's still relevant today. I'm 58 now and still rocking 🤟🤟🤟
Love Megadeth, great band live.
Hey, check out "Fantasy" by Aldo Nova
My last words has one of the most aggressive intense guitar solos, its an outstanding song.
Quite arguably the most perfect metal song ever written!!!
(Hangar 18 came out a couple months later and I was equally blown away.)
Little did I know I was tuning in during an incredibly special time for heavy music.
Marty Friedman is the second guitarist and this was his first record with the band and I believe that he took them musically to another level his playing fit really well with the band and tornado of souls has been referred to as one of the best guitar solos ever
How is it possible that my girl Amber gets better looking as time goes by? Not a human. Amber is an Angel.
Megadeth especially this lineup is one of my Top Favorite bands in my top 5. Their Bassist is one of my Biggest and Earliest influences and got to meet him and he signed my Bass. He's Super Cool and Very Nice! David Ellefeson is a Beast on the Bass!!
