    Good news on the nut! It was the biggest flaw with the Holcomb SE.

    The only thing I want to change on mine are the tuners, so thanks for this video, it's a great help. Have you ever considered putting a coil splitter on so you can get a singe coil effect on the pickups?

    I just got a pristine Zach Myers from 2017. All I did was install some brass bridge studs and some Kluson locking tuners. I'm a happy camper👍

    The cost of the upgraded locking tuners is roughly 20% of the guitar price. Uh, umm, eeeh, no.

    • @itsanthonybest
      @itsanthonybest  3 роки тому +3

      I agree especially after looking at the tuners side by side... They are identical other than the tuning key and the locking mechinism. Would not specifically recommend that upgrade.

    I got a set of Gotoh Maglock Kluson style locking tuners for mine. They’re the SD 90’s. They cost about $70. They’re drop in replacements.
    Mine are nickel with black tuning keys, so they look just like the stock tuners. Locking wheel is on the back.

    • @dimetriusrasul
      @dimetriusrasul 3 роки тому

      Is Gotoh SD90 fit in with PRS SE ZM 2021? Is there any issue when installing those locking tuners?

    • @MrTonydetiger76

      @@dimetriusrasul You need to look for the vintage ream (11/32”). Kluson also make a Revolution series that are locking that will also fit. Make sure you’re getting the set for vintage size holes and you’re ok.

      I just ordered the exact same tuners for my Zach Meyer. Both are supposed to show up Friday. I'm about to chew through my leash waiting until then.

    Doing some research before purchasing some locking tuners. You mentioned you didnt change the bushings. Some forums talk about having to ream a bit. When you replaced the tuners without replacing the bushings, i assume you didnt have to make any adjustments? Just screw em in n good to go ?

    Hi Anthony,
    I like the look of the white tuner buttons - when you get the cream pickup rings on there that's going to look really nice.
    Thanks for the update on the nut material - one less thing to worry about. Probably makes sense in a supply chain and part number sense to use the same nut everywhere.
    And worth it, even if the part is more expensive, just in the reduction of hassle factor.
    Looks like new strings are a must - I'll see how the stock ones feel, but I have some of my regular D'Addario XL strings in 10-46 ready to go as this will stay in standard E.
    (Or maybe try some fancy Nanoweb/Elixir strings on it)
    My other guitar will now be set up for drop tuning as it has EMG 81/60's in it.
    I may look at getting the PRS core knobs on it since they look a bit nicer. Are they also a bit smaller in diameter?

    • @itsanthonybest
