me when i sit down to eat my dinner and turn on some youtube and hear "we need to talk about your balls" followed by a vine boom sound effect in my head.
Every time I see the mines pop off in any activity, I still hear "Dismantle Mines, Yes?"
Success, Guardian, success.
@@pizzahunter69 I can hear that perfectly too...

Same, lol

“Balls are like the original fidget spinner” - Datto
Best part of the video 😂😂😂
I laughed so hard at that sentence 🤣🤣
No Diddy
For real tho, if the fidget spinner starts to feel a lil off/diff, go get checked if you can, don't let it wait until it becomes... *adhd flashbacks*... an *issue*.
He ain't lying tho 😂😂 1st thing us boys did as a baby when we noticed our balls 🤣
"Unstop ogres don't teleport every second."
Desync issues: "Are you sure about that?"
At this point I can tell when a TP is about to happen lmfao, like the over will be stuck, and I just know he bout to instant transmission,
I couldn't recommend blinding GLs enough for legend onslaught. Getting rushed by 6 ogres and blinding them for some breathing room is always nice
i freeze 😎
Haven't tried legend yet but me and my buddy managed a 50 wave with a random void hunter on stasis and strand warlock, I was running strand with a blinding GL and it just made dealing with so many dangerous enemies easier lol
Thought about using it, but then I remember I’m a titan and I can just kill everything instead. Did my legend on lfg with stasis lock, tether and strand titan on banner. Tether and lock had the areas locked down so good, i dont know why ppl are looking for wells. They lock it down, I swing in and punch everything to death, oh my god for exploders.
@@truv_I do both 🤓
Agreed. Blinding GLs also break the cloak for marauders, making them easier to kill
On a side note fellas, please check your balls and if you find ANYTHING please go see a doctro straight away. I left mine and when I went it was very late and had already spread to lymphnodes in chest and abdomen. I ended up having chemo for 14 months and a stem cell transplant to save my life after being given two weeks to live. This was in 2015 and I am now fit and well.
I get that this is a sponsorship, but for sure a very important one that could save your life. Thanks Manscaped and Datto for bringing this up x

12:57 Datto, THANK YOU for saying this. Ive done nothing but onslaught since it came out and ive only had a hand full of players that actually do this
BRUH PEOPLE IGNORING BATTERIES DRIVE ME UP A WALL like dude it makes it easier just do it.
YOU CAN SHOOT THE TORMENTOR’S PURPLE DISCS?????
I am shook😮
Yeah welcome to 2024 it's Wildin out here 🎉🎉🎉
You can shoot it but all it does is push it away and make it more chaotic. It still stays around for the same amount of time
@Aj-py8en then your not shooting it enough if you hit the center enough or with two quicksilver nades it will fizzle out almost immediately.
Yep!
For folks who do want to run some Arc, Indebted with the "special kills blind enemies" fragment is both fun and very strong (especially if you have Voltshot). Throw Anarchy in there for crowd control, and Chaos Reach with GeoMags and you're both crowd controlling and slaying with regularity. Only downside is you have to pay a bit more attention to staying alive, but it was so fun.
Crown of Tempest Static Mind+Arc Soul can be some good eating and you can fly to supers if you're playing your cards right. Plays nice with Chaos Reach where you can cancel to have a shorter hill to climb back to another. Going to sound ridiculous but Arc Souls always on(assuming you have actual gear, good stats, mods etc) has your back big time especially against Fallen who can just creep around invis a bit far too often. Lastly amplified can be very useful to be grabbing batteries, running objectives etc in lieu of any movement tech. It can be fun on Asscowl Hunter as well, definitely wouldn't say these strats are for very shaky new people, but there is fun to be had outside the usual.
Imagine the chaos this would be as a 6 player activity and you had to defend 2 ADUs at once.
Five of the players would sit on one ADU and ignore the sixth player's pleas for help at the other.
@@alexchong1757 it already happens when players aren't paying attention to the overloads teleporting all over the ADU while the teammates are out trying to spawn trap the adds.
@@basedoz5745pretty simple fix is to leave the CC build at ADU and string up or freeze the stragglers the dps didn’t pick up.
Oh wow that would be a trip
I know Datto is having a good day when he gets to say things like “this is an ENDGAME activity and should be treated as such” in a Destiny video
Ran a 50 Wave Legend last night with randos in Fireteam Finder....I was running an OsmioLock, other two were a BOW Titan and an Orpheus Hunter (daring combo, I know). Failed on Wave 49 when we got a Tormenter. We had two Shaxx-level decoys and still couldn't stop him from wrecking the ADU. I was dejected, but oddly satisfied that Destiny finally has an activity that can still break you down even if you are running meta loadouts. Gives me incentive to keep running it until I get a successful run.
Oh, and if you're running Stasis on any class and you're not using Aeger's Scepter, you're throwing.
Yeah I agree. You really really do need a precision weapon to deal with that. I know it might sound insane to say but I have a firing line machine gun and it does well against tormentors in legend.
I might have try Agers Specters on my Titan. I’ve normally been running Salvation’s Grip
@@Kevo2blessed Salvations is great too. Try Aeger's though, it goes so damn hard.
But I love my renewal grasps
I did mine with stasis lock and together hunter me on banner titan, no well used until the final boss room, and it wasn’t even worth using, stasis would been better. We got it done no cons or anything. They locked down areas with stasis and tether, I swing in and punch, had a demo lmg for exploders, and pugilist on my 1/2punch shorty.
The fact brigs don’t have a crit spot till it’s almost dead is wild
i hate that yeah
yeah but they attack pretty slow and are easy to evade so ig it balances out
A lillte tip for Tormentors, their ground slam can 1 shot from very far away. If you have to think if you're far enough away to be safe, you probably aren't and you should be further away
You can blind the mini boss that stands on the spike mine zone with a disorienting grenade, also, while the tormentor from the augmented wave is a big boss and can't be blinded/frozen/suspended, the tormentors from the special thing after a final wave boss kill are the mini boss kind that can be blinded/frozen/suspended
17:48 "You won't see the same augment within the next twenty or so waves" - I have had the Tormentor show up on wave 29, then again at wave 33. It's very unlikely, but not impossible
A good Zaouli's Bane alternative is Epochal Integration, which has a curated roll from doing the Strand Aspect quest introduced in Deep. Works really well with artifact perks that reward solar precision damage. I call it my diet sunshot.
I didn't even realise I had this and that it had Incandescent. Good looking out 👍
My number one piece of advice is to use your supers constantly.
There have been too many times where I see teammates pocketing supers for later rounds, meanwhile I’m cycling 1-2 every wave.
Seems like the challenge of this whole mode is the balance between being able to clear waves efficiently, and being able to do boss dps efficiently.
I really like that it doesn't have much rime or reason to what comes at each wave. It keeps things fresh and unpredictable. Honestly, this is the closest thing to a PVE version of Trials we've ever had, and I think with a bit of tuning that's what it could become.
And I would love that.
All of my legend clears have been on Stasis lock with Osmiomancy and Verglass Curve. You have insane crowd control with Stasis Turrets and Verglass pops off in this mode. There's been plenty of times where I use the stasis arrows to zone off an area or alleyway to give us some breathing room. Throw on an Indebted Kidness and you have all 3 champs covered.
I like to run malfeasance, indebted kindness and a bipod rocket for all champs but a lot of the time i'll run forbearance instead because it absolutely clears a room of ads with almost no effort
this is the greatest ad read i’ve ever seen
Datto Killin it with the UA-cam titles
I agree on your point of legend being actually a challenge. The first 30 waves are fine, not easy, just fine. The last 20, however, teamwork and focus is important.
I think the last 20 are also very dependent on your rng. I have had some extremely easy final 20 waves and i've had some very very challenging final 20 that made us fail.
I literally kept loosing to a tormentor on wave 3 or 4, don't know how people do 50
@@jackalsniper892 Are you buying a decoy and upgrading it at least once at the start and baiting the tormentor to it?
for my fellow hunters running orpheus rigs, in boss rooms i highly recommend hot swapping to lucky pants with malfeasance or a fttc vorpal warden's law after popping tether, the combination pops off and gets you another tether in like 30 seconds with good placement. invisibility gives you an easy way to swap back and forth when you're ready for another tether
Just use lucky pants through the whole thing. You dont need CC when everything is dead.
Can second this. I've saved my team several times in boss room cause I hot swap over to lucky pants with malfeasance and cataclysmic and just wrecked the boss alone
What was you entire loadout if I may ask? @@Cheekbeater
Great advice for my future clear!
Also I loved your ad for Manscaped (bonus points for using FFX’s Spira Unplugged as the music)
Lmfao that sponser read. LMFAO
Pro tip: the trip mine traps deal damage to the wells sword. The exotic tier one shots the well
Also leviathan's breath stunlocks most bosses on the boss wave
It sucks that doing 50 waves on Legend isn’t more incentivized than repeat farming the first 10 waves.
Agreed ... it would be cool if they gave you three golf balls then you know you could upgrade an exotic piece of Armor after the run
Well that’s changing soon
Remember that these tips are only suggestions and that there are plenty of ways to succeed in onslaught without the default meta. I've been experimenting with off-meta stuff like doomfang void titan, strand hunter, and renewal grasps. These builds are way more fun compared to the default picks like well and tether. There's a ton of leeway. You're only throwing if you're doing the following:
- Low crowd control uptime (blind/disorient, wavesplitter, tether, strand, stasis, arc special + fragment, etc)
- On warlock(s), but no one drops well during the end-of-set boss damage
- toxic in voice or text chat
Best of luck to all going for the emblem and shinies, I hope you find what you're looking for!
And to the titan I matched with who talked trash in text chat and rage quit in the middle of a wave last week with a warlock and hunter, I know who you are, and I reported you. I hope you never get the emblem and have terrible RNG for the remainder of the event.
It’s almost as if this is a guide for what’s most effective in beating the activity. If you’re using an off meta loadout then you likely know what you’re doing so you can utilize that loadout to its fullest and achieve victory. Someone who isn’t quite as good and tries to use off meta things might have a harder time. That’s who this video is for. We know it’s suggestions and not a hard rule. That’s obvious.
I’ve loved Briar Binds since they came out and their performance in onslaught did not disappoint. Really helped make up for my teams lack of a hunter
I love that void hunter build but with verglas and indebted kindness. verglas blocks off areas in midtown and the shatter damage is great on spawn points
Made it to wave 49 my first time ever running through legend last night. Strand warlock with necrotic grips, thorn and indebted kindness. It held its own the whole time.
The good thing about this game mode is if you’re good at the game you can use what ever you want and not feel like you’re handicapping because of no elemental surges.
The bad news is Well Warlock and Tether Hunter are definitely the best two builds you can run. With the right set ups, you can have both Tether and Well for EVERY wave… and if you don’t it’s because you’re 11/12th of the way to it.
I ran an Abeyant Leap build with Final Warning. You can cover Barrier + Unstop champs, tons of CC in general, and the Unravel (Hitting a target with a fully charged burst) effect contributes way more damage than you would think. It's also a good way to add damage to your teammates because Unravel spreads so easily due to the amount of enemies. I would also switch to Divinity if I felt like it had been too long since a Tormentor wave.
Huge tip for fighting hive, disorienting grenade launchers won't do much damage to the shriekers but they will force them to close for a good little while, and you can hit it back to back to keep it down
I run bipod rockets and basically 1 shot shriekers the moment they spawn and I still have plenty of rockets left
Thanks Datto, I'll use this for my run this week. Haven't cleared the 50 runs yet so hoping for success
I love the information! One thing though is when describing different scenarios with the boss fights, it would be cool to see what that looks like when you're doing it. For instance, on a boss fight, standing in a circle to spawn turrets which you mention is really helpful. Well, you show yourself opening a chest during that but I think it could be helpful to see where those might spawn by showing yourself jumping in a circle. Perhaps it's self explanatory but as a new player not understanding what to look for, it could be a nice visual guide. Also, the shielded enemies that are immune to health. I had no idea how to handle them and you mentioned standing in a circle as well but all you see is a guy slaying away at them. I was able to get a glimpse of it though after rewinding and someone on reddit helped by saying there's a star over it.
I realize I'm a new player and not your target audience and this is a Legend guide so it's for experienced players, but I can't seem to find anywhere that talks about the mechanics of this at all aside from this video. So thank you!
Was a little surprised to hear you advocate for the Necrotic Warlock, but makes sense that even in this gamemode you can still get run over at times with that setup going on
Ahh yes some more Ady Datto! 🥳 Thanks as always for the awesome content!
23:25 i did NOT know that you can do that!!! Never came to mind but damn good to know
Double stacy turrets worked great for me with Brutus’ fury w/ demo/frenzy, indebted kindness, and song of ir yut w/ recon/target lock cooked for me. Arc surges helped out massively along with special/heavy finder paired with arc scavenger so I was getting more ammo every brick.
datto your ad reads never fail to make me chuckle
running sunbracers as warlock is very nice for this, especially if you know the spawn locations. just throw all your nades where they spawn and everything but the absolute tankiest enemies will die. in later stages you will have to shoot enemies before trying to get the melee kill to confirm the activation, and it is recommended to use the heat rises sunbracers build that lets you have almost permanent uptime of restoration x2 with ember of empyrian
Thanks for the guide
Great video. Thanks
Started a looking for group not really expecting to get through all 50 waves but our first try we got it with no mics and we were all Titans. 2 Strand Titans and I used Solar. Sunshot was amazing for this and I had some crazy clutches. For the boss fights I used all my heavy and then swapped to Polaris Lance. One of the other people saw me doing this and started doing it too so we melted bosses! It was super fun and not as frustrating as I thought it would be.
Great video as always
Great guide! The one thing I'd say is that its SO wild how many "Wellocks only" LFGs there are right now when Ad-Clear builds on any class are better. If you know how to stay alive at a very VERY basic level there better team compositions than demanding majority warlocks. More than one really isnt necessary
Sunbracers have far better adclear than 99% of builds though so yeah it makes sense to bring well lock, you get the best defence and the best offence
@@jamesjameson7384 I agree and as I mentioned my point is LFGs demanding multiple Wells when one Well + 2 Ad Clear Supers is a better setup
@@skyyshinobi nah, sunbracers is basically an ad clear super. 3x sunbracers is perfectly valid, you don't need anything else
@@jamesjameson7384 agree to disagree. have a great day
@DattoDoesDestiny OMFG lmao I was not expecting the TCA Month shoutout
Stasis is unironically the best for this. Either walling off entire lanes or mass freezing waves. Strand is also very good
Spira Unplugged for the ad read absolutely based Datto.
More FFX bgm 🙏
Osmio with verglass, excellent aoe this season and good for high uptime on ability regen. Also can always block a path in a panic. I'm using chain of command if I ever need a quick top off for next cycle of turrets
Great video 🎉 Thanks
My man with Spira Unplugged in the ad read, love that song.
My favorite build actually ended up clutching. It uses Stag/Monte Carlo as a Devour Voidlock with Child of the Old Gods to keep my three abilities on uptime as much as humanely possible. Never running out of Devour means I can be especially reckless against all but the one-iest of shots as long as I'm getting consistent kills against red bars, and I always have a healing rift for an emergency recharge for my teammates if they need it. COG also deals damage over time, refilling my abilities even more if things die. I've got the Rocket Sidearm from Warlord's Ruin and a crafted Retrofit with 4th Times/Target Lock from Spire of the Watcher. Resil/Recov/Discipline are at 100, with Intellect at at least 50, and melee/mobility at 30 and 20, respectively.
Such a fun build, and all the more reason to keep The Stag superglued to my Warlock's head.
Strand warlock with Mantle of Battle harmony was working extremely well with my team mates using Orpheus Rigs. With Mantle, Strand weapon kills give you 3% super energy per kill. Also running double power preservation. Unraveling on Tusk of the Boar was putting in WORK.
It’s the FFX music over the balls add that does it for me.
suppose I'll chime in what I've been doing, which is mostly hunter so far. weapons are your favorite rocket launcher, any special ammo sidearm (to taste), and a hand cannon. in particular I have Malf, a Lead from Gold/Deconstruct Indebted Kindness, and a Braytech Osprey; if you find tormentors are an issue, use Forerunner and your favorite energy hand cannon instead. In particular the Osprey has Cluster Bomb/Bipod, which gives it 14 reserves, and Cluster Bomb makes it a tiny bit easier to land shots on overload champions (as they may run into the secondary munitions if there's a bad teleport--I've seen it happen). Field Prep/Bipod Semiotician is a great alternative for even bigger reserves (or Explosive Light for bigger individual rockets if you feel the need).
one of two subclass builds:
1. cowl threadrunner. you can play a lot more recklessly because of the safety cowl provides, and whirling maelstrom really locks down certain spawn points and grinds away at enemies.
2. lucky pants nightstalker. pretty self explanatory, see orpheus build in the video, but you're trading in the tether uptime for wild primary ammo damage, which frees up your special and heavy to remove waves of enemies from the game. lucky pants also enables malf to clear adds much faster than normal (it typically fails to bodyshot acolytes without it), especially orange and yellow bar spawns, and it gives you a ton of total damage potential for demolitionists as well (I agree with Datto that those are the most threatening enemies in the activity).
going back to the weapons: IMO Malfeasance is the play on Lucky Pants if you have a heavy ammo finder/scout mod, since you can rack up ammo drops extremely quickly every time you proc the pants. the Indebted Kindness roll I use above has basically infinite ammo, great for small enemies when you're not Malfing them, and you'll have more than enough rocket launcher shots for most eventualities. Forerunner is an excellent alternative; there isn't an energy slot hand cannon that does as much pants DPS compared to the good kinetics, but Forerunner is extremely strong, especially against the tormentors, so it's probably fine to just go with whatever. If you have Buried Bloodline (I never got one), pair it with Warden's Law. Generally higher RPM hand cannons are better for Lucky Pants (they stack the buff faster), but if you're confident in your ability to nuke big targets anyway, you can probably get away with like Zaouli's.
Ooooo heard that Sight of Spira during the ad read. 😍
For stasis warlock I've found that the chain of command (season of the haunted ritual machine gun) pairs great since it has demo for more grenade energy and then quick reloads
I've used that MG a ton in GM's but I currently like using Terminus Horizon (the MG from Spire of the Watcher) since it can get Demo AND Wellspring! Plus since it's Arc, I can pair it a bit easier with Divinity.
Just had 2 Orpheus rig hunters put tether on the enemy spawn points (only 2) every wave or multiple times in a wave. And max level decoys are very helpful with dealing with the tormenters.
I usually do legend midtown and always fail on the zone near the water. (When the enemies spawn on both sides of the building and some sneak around the back on the coastline). I'm convinced once you pass wave 40, it gives you that zone and same enemy spawn to trip you up
One of the first times ive actually watched the sponsored portion of the video.
Orpheus "don't call it a comeback" 😎 the build more interesting using a weapon w/ destabilizing rounds. Still my goto is Stylish x Gyrfalcons x Graviton Lance. Pure mayhem and no side arm needed for anti barrier. Volatile rounds will do the job.
Strand hunter is a good replacement for Strand or solar titan. The aztecross build with final warning is what I used to get my first full legend clear with a Orpheus rig hunter and a Phoenix well on my team. Tangles spinning all over the place, the dodge decoys saved me a few times and final warning can put in some work. Would just switch to celestial nighthawk and leviathan breath for bosses
The heavy wave frame might be a good backup for the troll waves of demos+hard waves especially on hunters. I've been impressed by envious assassin cascade point in normal so it might be worth it if it still stun locks the ads for a second or four
Just did my first 50 wave legend onslaught last night. I had zero deaths. My bros did amazing but did die, they are fraggers it happens. I was always in the heat and i even clutched several runs and boss rooms with two dead teammates.i ran cenptaph warlock, a firefly thresh fatebringer timelost, acasias dejection with enhanced rewind and enhanced incandescent, and Gally.
My other solar warlock ran pheonix well
And our third ran strand lock, stasis lock, then well lock for the final boss. Vostock. I never struggled with heavy, i used gally like a special weapon. And I was the cenotaph lock mind you.
I believe in all you! Eyes up guardians
Everyone and I mean EVERYONE that goes into the ingame Lfg’s needs to see this video immediately! God Dammit the amount of times I’ve seen people rush the boss skybomber on waves 30+!
Super easy with Strand Stranglehold + Lament, Pardon Our Dust, your best auto/pulse solar. Entangle with barrier and grenade add taunt threadlings for additional clear. You can still clear and do ok enough damage but you give all the room comfortably to your team.
I used the moth build on Hunter since ex diris got its buff and that first clear was pretty well handled due to just throwing blind, jolt, and overshields everywhere.
Love the shirt Datto 😂
The build that i ran was Centrifuse and Vesper of Radius, the amount of blinding effects you can dish out are NUTS, i always end up with around 800+ kills
Man I miss this game sometimes. Played from D2 launch for about 2-3 years. Now it just seems so daunting to get back into.
can we just appreciate bungie not healthgating the bosses as well as not locking loadouts and giving rallies before bossfights? they did so much correctly in this update
Stasis titan with hoarfrost and salvations grip has been my go to onslaught build. I hate playing titan but man is it fun just sliding and seeing whole groups disappear.
my already throbbing respect for datto has exploded after hearing sight of spira in the ad
I haven't done legend yet but i run osmiomancy with agers and whisper of rime with a repulsor brace destab rounds recluse and retrofit escapade so far it does good both in wave and boss especially with the agers catalyst
Graviton Lance Singularity Nova Bomb combo (with a machine gun) earned me my emblem.
Datto with the Final Fantasy music during the ad knows how to keep my attention
I would like to throw an honorable mention towards verglas curve for osmiomancy warlock. As long as you secure a single kill with the bow you can chain big chains together more potent than ager's scepter.
The original fidget spinner.
Just spit out my coffee. Thanks Datto.
I can not emphasize a strand titan enough the banner is really nice for exploder rounds and the burst dps helps alot with the demolitionists
sooooooo glad that background music you used to have is gone. i am listening to this without it and still hear it in my head lol
Fallen sun star build with indebted kindness is absolutely carrying in legend! With the fragment where kills blinds nearby enemies while your amplified it’s basically a blinding gl but more damage and more add clear with unlimited grenades/rifts/melees
Phoenix Protocol w/ funny shotgun, epochal, and unwavering duty (or otherwise solar HMG) is goated. Switch to witherhoard for boss rounds and you're golden.
I run geomags. Voltshot ikelos witherhorede makes tons of ionic traces which means tons of arc buddies and rifts and a burst super for bosses.
arc hunter with the staff super and star eater helped a lot for my first clear, if you're not into void hunter, check that out
Repair ball duplication, where you use your class ability directly after throwing the ball, can really add up scrap. Especially with hunters, with their ease of use and speed of regen.
That might have been the greatest sponsor promotion ever. Lol!
Thorn with Necrotic grips is fantastic
Our fireteam's greatest enemy is the ADU by the water in Midtown. Those boopers be booping. And those Tormentors be tormenting.
I'm sure it's been posted, but alas.
Decoys/Turrets/Tripmines can break. But you can heal them by throwing the batteries at them. This doesn't "use" the batteries, it will just bounce off it and heal it. (If your upgrades are flashing red, they're about to break)
You can also dupe the batteries by using you class ability right after you throw it.
Datto, April 2024 - “Balls are the original fidget spinner”
Just wanted to mention that this week (April 16-23) the final boss is a melee type boss that will push/ teleports to you and destroy well if you just sit there. So for this week I’d actually recommend bringing a sword for final boss
I love being interested in destiny and watching the new datto video ❤
I LOVE briarbinds, but I had trouble using it. The game prioritizes picking up batteries, so I missed more than a few pickups because the game thought I wanted the battery.
If you have the time (and patience lol) to setup multiple load outs I suggest running a very heavy damage loadout, (typical raid boss dps to take advantage of the rally), a very heavy crowd control for the first two sets, a generalist build (decent crowd control and something to do high burst damage whether that’s a one-two combo or a rocket or Izanagi’s) and finally one for “Holy shit holy shit AAAAAAAAA I HAVE TO STAY ALIVE AND THIS IS WAY HARDER THAN I EXPECTED AAAAAA” (invis hunter crutch, Loreley crutch and Briarbinds crutch)
It feels good to get a first week clear on an activity that Datto says is “actually challenging”
Stasis hunter build in the newest Aztecross video is actually a lot better than I thought it would be, and was way more fun than tether
No matter the eventual context, “move over international women’s month” is an insane and funny way to start an ad 😂
