- bungie dropped a fat weapon tuning update for final shape. i was out all day, so i couldn't record until now. i read the article and give a quick take on everything happening. i'm sorry it's so long, but i had a lot to say. i wanted to call this "final shape patch notes to read and fall asleep to," for the record. it's funny, but not much of an attention grabber.

Lament catching a stray is the weirdest change to me, it's not even the highest DPS sword in the game and it still has extremely inconsistent tracking which results in even lower damage output
True, but it's damage isn't changing that much. It's getting the benefit of the overall sword damage buff but it is getting a charged heavy damage nerf. I'm not sure how that works out in terms of DPS. The real nerf is to the healing, which is somewhat understandable because it makes using it in things like Ghosts of the Deep and Crota's End a trivial choice for relevant encounters. As long as the damage works out similar, I don't think this is too bad.
Another annoying about Bungie's attention to it is that a while back (maybe a year ago, or longer) they fixed the whiffing on airborne enemies just for it to break the very next season, and they just never bothered with it again.
weapon still broken with high frame rates but destiny developers dont work so
This def feels like another case of hurr durr high usage = nerf which shouldnt always be the case maybe buff the other exotic swords lol
It’s the best sword in the game and has been for years
Onslaught was basically 1 year of weapon data for Bungie in 1 month. That's optimal.
Holy crap it actually does centralise the 'How do players see these weapons' MASSIVELY
This is a neat way of looking at it
Huh. That's why they didn't want to release everything early during Into the Light. They mainly wanted to get info about the non patch weapons and builds. That is A LOT of info fs.
Except they would've seen Indebted Kindness being a top 3 weapon. Literally never had someone use Osteo or Lament in my runs.
@@manynukes11 was more of a joke. I'm guessing one+ month out was not enough to fully utilize the data from Onslaught, and Bungie probably had most of these changes already in mind. But, for the future, or even for Final Shape, they probably stumbled upon the realization that Onslaught prints weapon and armor data. You can go in and use almost anything and get tons of kills, but the harder levels do start to narrow down choices. That in-activity transition from freedom to "meta" is unique data and is at a scale they haven't been able to see before, not to mention the sheer volume of kills that occur.

Lament: beat out by 4 legendary swords
Bungie: Let’s nerf lament
It's use case in day one raids for high damage and really high survivability made it far to strong.
There's 100% going to be a close range boss in TFS raid and this is a preemptive nerf.
@@mp-ck4jh yet people can just use the swords that were already better. A blanket sword nerf would have made sense for what you suggest
@bugg6597 it wasn't a damage issue the 20% heavy nerf will be negligible to total damage. The big issue was top 5 sword damage with infinite health while doing it
@@bugg6597 It's not about the damage, it's about the survivability, Lament's damage was nerfed yeah but the biggest nerf was to the healing. The raid boss will probably have some stomp or AOE that Lament was out healing so Bungie made this nerf.

this week at bungie, revision zero buffs, part 5000
mercules slowly making it more meta with each patch
Idk ... they wouldn't have nerfed Kinetic damage to bosses
I love the gun and I'm glad it keeps getting buffed but it was pretty OP at launch. Idk why Bungie thinks it needs more buffs. If it's a usage thing, the problem is that there are just way too many good kinetic exotic primaries. It's literally sharing a slot with a craftable Outbreak ffs, of course its usage isn't that high.
@@underscore_5450 It's not OP in the slightest. I wouldn't use Outbreak or Revision Zero, not even in Grandmaster Strikes due to Wishender being flatly superior and options like Izanagi or Supremacy or Witherhoard carry way more potential for damage rotations. Outbreak shines when 5 other guardians use it but even then it's not meta. The kinetic nerf affects the pulse rifles too but because they are getting like 30% buff the total output is a bit better. This is Bungie nerfing current meta builds that might outperform new weapons in TFS.
The weird thing about the Kinetic boss damage nerf is that Kinetics aren't able to be surge matched with your heavy. Stasis/Strand weapons with the same optimal perks as their kinetic counterparts will instantly outclass the kinetics now (at least, until they fix the kinetic overcharge from subclass surge matching not working)
Not to also mention, this nerf may also hit things like Witherhoard and Mountaintop by, if we go off kinetic buffs in the past combined, an almost 15% or more damage change. Cause it specifies Kinetic weapons but doesnt exclude exotics and the sorts.
So if this ends up being the case then damn.
@@XanderZeidel Which will also mean, say goodbye to non DPS heavies that rely on using specials while your heavy deals passive damage (like Dragons Breath)

I hope so. It's a good looking exotic, but I never use it because it sucks.
That does make using it very tempting.

Funny that the three best exotics made available by making shadowkeep, beyond light, and witch queen free are all getting nerfed...
I wonder if it's because their usage went up 🤔 Bungie's balancing ethos is so fucked
I had that exact change in mind for deterministic chaos a week ago when I watched a video on forgotten exotics. Make it the void counterpart to thunderlord and I'll finally consider using it. Now all i need is for xenophage to stun unstops and somehow synergize with solar verbs and we'll have the d1 exotic lmg trio spiced up for d2 after almost 8 years
It should do what thunderlord does and all bullets weaken
@@ericx6969 I don't think you would need that much more weaken unless you could, specifically with this gun, stack either a greater weaken effect or a longer lasting weaken with each weakening shot.
This is my happiest change. I’m so excited to use deterministic as my heavy on void now.
@@alaskayoung3413I wouldn’t be. Deterministic chaos does about half the dps that thunder lord does. Even with this change it will only increase the number of volatile explosions which deal about 5k per hit on a boss from 3 per reload to 12 per reload.
For comparison thunderlord against aetheon before tp does 630k damage (that’s without a weaken), deterministic chaos does 330k. This will not close the gap in any meaningful way.
In terms of enemy clear it’s also still worse than commemoration or hammerhead.
It’s still a dead gun.
@@daveb7049 true but I’m also factoring in the team play of weakening and having a anti champ mod for free especially on void which is like the least anti champ stuff built into the kit.
If deterministic chaos is supposed to be a champion gun, then I want suppression on my 16th shot. Maybe a catalyst that moves weaken to every 8th, and then introduces suppression at the 16th, so you get a big bullet at the end triggering all 3 effects
Personally I'd like for the catalyst to have Repulsor Brace and while you have an overshield any enemies damaged by volatile explosions caused by deterministic chaos are suppressed. Really lean into that void 3.0 synergy.

We have 7 exotic pulse rifles. 5 are kinetic, 2 are void. Bungie, bruh… Give us some variety if pulses are getting buffed… Make two of those kinetics strand & stasis. Or somethin…
So true. Of the kinetic pulse rifles, I can think of only 2 that should actually stay kinetic, and that's Revision Zero and Outbreak.
No Time should have and would have been a stasis weapon on launch, but Bungie didn't start making stasis weapons until 3 seasons later.
Bad Juju would be awesome as strand, but would also be great with Osmosis/Permeability.
Part of the problem is that with the new "element identity" and subclass 3.0, Bungie feels like every weapon with an element has to have subclass tie-ins. We don't just get elemental exotics that do cool unique stuff, they have to have debuffs or buffs (look at any exotic released or changed in the past year)
So all these old kinetic primary weapons that don't have subclass tie-ins just stay boring, even if they could be really interesting if just given an element.

My lvl 605 Osteo (85,000 kills) is contemplating jumping off the edge of the Throne World and ending itself
Wow, you have more than me on Osteo.
I feel like this felt like an amazing video. Probably seeing Datto as excited brougth the video so up.
Quick note on Chill Clip. Even with only requiring 2 shots to freeze, Aurvandil being a high-impact means it's still slower to freeze than the 3 shots from Riptide. Deliverance and Burden of Guilt will be faster, however.
Not sure if I missed you mentioning it, but these aren't big buffs to damage for weapons. They're removing the damage mods, so everything is losing 8.9% against some enemy. So hand cannons getting a 5% buff to damage ends up being a 3.9% aggregate nerf, probably against red bars as most would have a minor spec on. For Fusions, snipers, glaives, and linears they're all getting nerfed for majors/bosses (whichever spec you'd run). So only those getting a 20% buff are really getting a buff, and it ends up being 11% since no spec mods.
They aren’t outright removing the damage mods, they are putting the bonuses from those mods into the weapons so there won’t be a need to use them anymore
They aren't putting the bonuses for those mods into the weapons, they said they're buffing the damage to weapons almost universally in the article, then they listed the damage increases below, which is what I was talking about. In his video Datto was acting like some weapon types were getting a good buff, example some at 10%, but after accounting for the loss of damage from a mod it's only a 1.1% buff for the enemy type you would most likely have used that weapon for. And like I said, those getting a 5% buff are actually getting nerfed by losing 3.9% in damage.
@@drphumbles I see what you mean I re-read that part of the article and I misinterpreted it the first time thinking that they were gonna build the damage into most of the weapons. That’s interesting
I'm not exactly a 'Desconstruct Expert'™, but I did get a Ros Arago roll w Subsistence and Deconstruct and it's actually been REALLY fun to play around with! A lot of people kinda gloss over the fact that it refills the mag in addition to the damage boost, and paired with Subsistence it's kinda like having two ammo perks and a minor damage perk! Very fun.

The div nerf seems over kill and that osteo nerf is gonna be devastating. 4 seconds might not seem that long but we all know how long that ends up being in reality

@@oxsila 75%, it’s gonna take almost twice as long for the cadge to appear. Sure it’s still gonna be good but like when time is damage why use it over tractor
@@FireStriker_ Yeah you just hold it down now instead of tapping it and it'll be up before you know it. It's just you'll burn through the ammo really quickly
@@oxsila actually the nerf isn’t to feathering the trigger but to how long it takes for the cadge to appear making you hold it for longer before you can start feathering.
Just use Thorn. It’s way better than osteo now. Or use nechrochasm after it gets buffs. The thrall explosions also spread poison when used with necrotic grips.
It also spreads poison and creates the thrall explosions off of body shot kills, without needing precision kills if you melee an enemy with necrotic grips before killing them with it. So with the buffs it’ll also be better than osteo.

IMO they should've made it so that high impact fusions just freeze on landing all bolts, it takes WAY too long to charge two shots when compared to Deliverance getting two off before a Aruvandil can even halfway charge its second shot.
This would also give Conditional Finality a bit more competition.

So Riskrunner is getting the 10% SMG buff, but losing the exotic red bar buff from 40 to 30%. So its only gettting a 2-3% buff over that it is doing now.
Hand Cannons are getting a nerf technically. Legendaries are losing minor spec (7%) but getting a 5% buff. So its getting a 2-3% nerf. Which legendary HCs didn't need. Exotic HCs are getting a 5% nerf since 40 to 30% exotic red bar buff decrease, but then getting the 5% buff.

I think it'd be neat to see if something like Mothkeeper's Wraps make a weapon always turn Arc with Osmosis, but at the same time I can understand leaving that alone.
Brim out if nowhere always makes ne smile
Osteo didn’t get nerfed it got FUCKING MURDERED
only if you don't play a warlock. Necrotic Grips carry most of the clear.
Using the ad clear gauntlets does make the ad clear weapon good
@@Drianikaben Thorn is my go to anyway. Haven't liked Osteo since the first nerf.
@@oxsilathis. The first nerf killed it. 0 reason to use it over thorn. Thorn is so much better. So so much better. Osteo needs to revert back to original. Smgs are absolutely terrible and an instant dismantle.
@@oxsilayou should try out nechrochasm too bro. It slaps with necrotic grips. The thrall explosions also spread poison while using it, and getting any melee hit will make any kill with nechrochasm proc the thrall explosions without even needing a headshot kill. With the buffs coming it’ll be even better.
With the removal of spec mods most Legendary Linears are actually getting a nerf not a buff because they would have been doing 7.77% more damage with specs and are only getting a 5% boost to compensate.
The only saving grace is backup mag which only partially offsets the nerf but doesn't stack with some linear mag types.
They probably needed a base 10% buff at base for legendaries for it to be an all around net positive.
Here I am still running that graffiti explosion on my main primary weapon
Someone tell Datto the strand warlock build is better with thorn anyways
Shh. Don't want them to nerf it.
It’s also better with nechrochasm too. I haven’t used osteo in over a year now😂
@@oxsilamy thoughts exactly 😅
These changes feel dumb, I was thinking the other day about how good sun shot was but isn’t that it’s too good it’s that sun shot and trinity are good ad clear weapons, they’re satisfying to use because they fit the roll, now instead of giving us more options they’re just gutting them, can’t wait to plink ads with a pulse one by one
Sunshot isn't being gutted. It's gaining 5% more damage, losing 10% of the exotic bonus, and it's splash is being hit by 10%. After the changes, Sunshot will be dealing 97.5% of it's current damage on hits, and its explosion will hit for 87.75% of what it currently does. Hardly gutted
I use the heavy GL from guardian games in Onslaught (beside boss phases) especially when I'm paired with rank 6-7 randos, with chain reaction it is a very good panic button for times when my teammates get overwhelmed and a swarm of enemies are coming from all front a bit too close to the point. So I'm hyped it's getting buffed.
I also have a "chill clip/4th time" burst linear fusion that I can't wait to try out with the improved stasis and buffs to recoil…
5:46 new tormentor spawn noise just dropped
A 5% "buff" to linears that lose over 7 percent from the mod changes is a nerf.
They're not "losing 7%", they're incorporating the mod boost into the base damage, PLUS the 5% buff to linears....basically an overall 12% buff.
@@alexcurtis8132the article doesn't say this. It says, literally, "We've increased base weapon damage almost universally...and have retired the following weapon mods". It does not explicitly say the mods are becoming intrinsic.
Bastion looks like it'll be awesome but Eriana's Vow is still lacking in that it can't break a champions shield with one shot. Like why would you use that when Wish Ender breaks a shield in one shot with infinite ammo. Ignition's on shots on champion shields seems counter intuitive too.
I've had a soft spot for Colony for a long time, but not used it because it's q gimmick. Definitely have to try it out again because I loved that thing so much
The osteo necrotic build really helped in solar 3.0 release and dominated in void 3.0 for legend witch queen giving infinite devour uptick i only used it with strand for a little bit before switching to skyburner mantle of harmony. As for the deterministic thank god for the buff i love it on my void titan with doomfang.
