My uncle got tuberculosis back in the 1930's....he went to a sanatorium, high in the mountains here in British Columbia...he got pushed outside for a couple of hours every day it was sunny.....now think....why do you think they did that to him? He survived, by the way..lived to be 88.

I used to be ‘allergic’ to the sun too. This was in the 90’s during the low fat craze. I ate tons of carbs everyday, shunned saturated fats, ate fat-free salad dressing and consummed loads of sugar. After going on a strict anti-candida diet (I wonder how I developed that🤔), suddenly I could be out in the sun for several hours with no adverse effects. I’m laying in the sun as I write this☀️😎☀️

I agree with the sun tolerance. 5+ years ago, AHA diet for 25 years(high carb/low fat), 10 - 15 min in the summer sun in Louisiana and my skin was red/burnt as I'm fair completed. Today, after a "lower-carb" diet and Vit/supplements, I'm good 4 -5 hours without any issues or burning. For example, last week on the beach in Grand Isle, LA I was on the beach with just a hat and bathing suit and no sunscreen between the hours of 2 - 7 pm. No issues and no burning. I take D3, Omega 3, Magnesium malate, and K2, and eat Olive/Avacado Oil and grass fed butter. It's has made a huge difference for me. Dr Berry and Ivor, you gents are the greatest leaders. Thank you.

Dr. Berry, I had the same “spidey sense” 20 years ago when my oldest was born and the doc told me there was no vitamin D in breast milk! It was unfortunate at the time because I actually didn’t believe him and also did not supplement. I was sure it was not possible! Now on our 5th baby and the midwives were super surprised at my D levels because of supplements and also my super healthy pregnancy and birth on keto. Thanks for all you do! Love Ivor’s work!

At the time I have heard about Vit d as a preventative for MS from Australian researcher who has the is disease. My eye specialist said having got to 50 with out getting any worse, I was a lucky person and if I kept up my sunlight exposure, I would keep my self from getting worse and to date I have had no progression and currently lesion can no longer be seen on MRI

I am also big fan of supplementing D3 with K2-mk7 of course. I go by how I feel and not by what the lab ranges are in my area since most people are sick because they get fooled indeed by ranges established by labs (which are based on medians and other stats from population living in specific area). Dr. Berry has excellent video about lab ranges and how they are flawed.

    • @larsnystrom6698
      @larsnystrom6698 6 місяців тому +3

      Do you have sufficient magnesium?
Magnesium is consumed when the body process vitamin D, so if the levels don't go up as they should, low magnesium could be the reason.
The liver converts vitamin D3 into 25(OH)D, which is what's usually measured as the blood level.
If that doesn't work one can supplement with that form directly. I belive that requires a doctor's prescription.
With your much to low levels, you need a doctor who know these things.
It takes something like 3 months to build up to the level where it plateau out after you have changed the supplementation dose

I am 56 y\o with no history of sickness or health issues since my teens. As of 12\3\2020, I had my blood tested and my Vit D level was @ 89 WITH NO SIGNS OF TOXICITY (my Calcium level is 9.6 mg\dl) OR ANY ADVERSE AFFECTS. I FEEL AWESOME ALL OF THE TIME! Super energy all the time with NO fatigue. My doc is not wholly on board since MOST people do not actively look to supplement this vitamin (really a hormone) to these levels, but the most recent studies PROVE AS A MATTER OF UNDISPUTED FACT, that by raising your levels to at least 55 ng\ml (75+ if your looking for increased cancer protection), your chances of catching, being hospitalized and or even dying from Covid (SARS, MERS etc.) are DRASTICALLY reduced to the point that it is just plain stupidity for doctors not to be telling the world about this! And the Vitamin "D" levels are next to nothing. Says a lot for the really bad industrial ways that big food is raising the animals that we depend on. I’m indoor a lot so I don’t think 20,000iu D3 is to much . So glad you told me us about it .

My daughter called me one day about 3.5 years ago to tell me she was pregnant. Literally, my first response was, "What's your Vitamin D level"? She said, "28". OMG! I made her take 5,000 IU/day even though her doc told her 28 was good. Pfffffff! Not only did she go full-term with twins, they actually had to induce labor. VD is REALLY important for pregnant women and the growing babies. I wish I had known to tell her to take more. Still, I got two pretty little girl babies.🤗

There won't be Pharma reps for D, so WE have to be the 'Pharma' reps. I'm making flyers for the general public and something with resources for the docs to convince them with the science. We are reaching out to the nursing homes and black communities especially. In the present 'climate', out of desperation, mainstream docs are waking up to the importance of the health of the immune system and importance of D and C and zinc. Your info is great!

Our 100 lb (Husky, Lab, Sheperd mix) dog goes out and lays (naps) with her belly (less hair,) pointed toward the sun, year around. Whether it's 100 degrees outside or 35 degrees. Sometimes when it's very hot on the pavement she lays in a shaded area. I guess it's intuitive to her. She rarely missed her sun nap.

It would be interesting to have a video on the science processes by the AMA on how minimum daily requirements are set by them for many of the vitamins and minerals. If they have got it wrong for Vitamin D, the question becomes how accurate are their other MDR recommendations for proper nutrition?

Vitamin D for children isn't necessary as long as they get the sun about an hour a day and eat a diet rich in vitamins. As you get into your 30s and 40s your body needs more Vitamin D3 so that's when you need the level in your blood checked

4 doctors missed my symptoms, my problem I had no idea that vitamin D was so very important. One doctor said take your vitamin D, no other education. I decided to go back to my college days, did the research, then I’ll ask for a test next doctor's visit in 10 weeks. Now I take 50,000IU every Monday and Im losing weight, my appetite has dwindled a bit to get in 1 meal a day. I learned to supplement with 100mcg of K-2, and 400 milligrams of magnesium gluconate...2 weeks and I think close to getting back to normal. I think it could be 6 to 12 weeks of supplementation to return to normal

I just had a visit with my nephrologist and he told me to cut my vitamin d, that I was getting too much. My level is 159+ and I've been taking 50k IU's per day for a year or two, then to make them happy knocked it down to 20k IU's per day. But, he's telling me that it will mess up my kidneys and that it will cause me mental issues. Oh, and he told me to cut my protein intake to avoid oxalate kidney stones. I've been keto for 2 years and carni for almost 2 more. I asked him to send me the data and he agreed to do so, but never did.

You....this one video talks about so much I've wondered for so long. Low vit D was my very first abnormal blood test (most blood work stays "within range"). No doctor seems to care or worry about it...often I have to push to get it tested. As soon as I get to 30 they drop the big weekly doses and say "you're good". And then the next year poof I'm deficient again. I take 5k daily, light skinned, Irish ancestry (which I thought was crazy that plays into it), and recently dx with polymorphous light eruption (which I knew I had for many of my last 20 years of chronic stuff). I am about to go full carnivore and just eating up all of your videos Dr. Berry! I've done a few diet trials and I am wowed by the changes....20 years of never-changing issues....changing....with just a week or so ish.

Well that’s the same feeling and thought I got when you said black people need ten times the amount of sun as lighter skinned people. There are so many different interpretations of the “data” you guys mentioned that it boggles my mind. I think this comment will not be well received but I felt compelled to leave it. I’ve been told by my dermatologist to stay out of the sun. Mostly, to prevent skin cancer. Where I currently live, we have dessert weather. I get sun burn quickly here. Oh, also to prevent premature skin aging. I work from home and don’t get outdoors much. Which I like, but have thought about getting a vitamin D deficiency blood test. Thought about taking the large dose of the vitamin once per week. I will try to get it from natural food sources, now. I love the sun. I wish there was an alternative that doesn’t cause wrinkled skin nor pigment. I have constellation freckles. I wish there was a light bulb that doesn’t cause skin aging. Oh, well...

I have salmon, oat milk, almond milk, soy milk, cheese which all contain vit D. Also a lot of vegetables. The only problem I have with supplements is because their isolated and I don't know what chemicals are used to extract it. I read that fish oil supplements were extracted with some toxic chemical and the fish oxidized.
