Do you have sufficient magnesium? Magnesium is consumed when the body process vitamin D, so if the levels don't go up as they should, low magnesium could be the reason. The liver converts vitamin D3 into 25(OH)D, which is what's usually measured as the blood level. If that doesn't work one can supplement with that form directly. I belive that requires a doctor's prescription. With your much to low levels, you need a doctor who know these things. It takes something like 3 months to build up to the level where it plateau out after you have changed the supplementation dose
So insightful, thank you both! Since going keto I can definitely spend more time in the sun. Btw just went carnivore and woke up for the first time in ages with such a clear head, feels great, like I’m ‘awake’ 😊
I just had to pause the video because Dr. Berry said (talking about doctors warning against Vitamin D,) "that's ignorant!" in his unmistakably middle Tennessee accent.... 😏😊

I've been taking D3 (50,000 units) 2-3X per week along with K2 (600mcg every 3 days) since Feb. 2020. I started this with a Vit D serum level of 16 which was done by blood test in Jan. 2020. I am 56 y\o with no history of sickness or health issues since my teens. As of 12\3\2020, I had my blood tested and my Vit D level was @ 89 WITH NO SIGNS OF TOXICITY (my Calcium level is 9.6 mg\dl) OR ANY ADVERSE AFFECTS. I FEEL AWESOME ALL OF THE TIME! Super energy all the time with NO fatigue. My doc is not wholly on board since MOST people do not actively look to supplement this vitamin (really a hormone) to these levels, but the most recent studies PROVE AS A MATTER OF UNDISPUTED FACT, that by raising your levels to at least 55 ng\ml (75+ if your looking for increased cancer protection), your chances of catching, being hospitalized and or even dying from Covid (SARS, MERS etc.) are DRASTICALLY reduced to the point that it is just plain stupidity for doctors not to be telling the world about this! THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT NEWS OF 2021 THAT YOU NEED TO HEAR! PLEASE, ... look into this. I TOLD YOU SO ............................................................. !
So I'm a 50yo male and for the last 3 1/2 years I've slowly started going down hill no energy no motivation for things I use to be passionate for and have had to basically force myself to go through the motions with going to work and trying to take care of my kids every day and dealing with neuropathy in my feet with numbness and tingling and last week I had my physical and I'm definitely not diabetic and pretty much every test was normal except my vitamin D and it was 16 and my M spike was .004 which is up from.003 last year and that's probably something else for a different day but I'm just wondering how long after you started supplementing could you tell a difference...my doctor acts like being that low is no big deal but I've seen to many people with horror stories about life with low D levels including myself because it's absolutely miserable to live this way...I feel like I'm dying to be honest.
@@brianpulley8652 start taking high dose of 30,000 IU D3, plus 400mg of Magnesium Glycinate, and 200 mcg of K2, daily. You will feel better in a couple months. I can't remember the name of the farmer or the study, But the chickens back in the day when they ran loose in the pasture and/or barn-yard, had excellent levels of vitamin "D" in their livers, of course NOW a days most hens and meat birds are raised in barns with Zero sunlight. And the Vitamin "D" levels are next to nothing. Says a lot for the really bad industrial ways that big food is raising the animals that we depend on. Not good for the animals (physically or mentally) that are raised in the "factory-style" farms, or (I imagine) for our own human health as egg and chicken-meat eaters.

i am 75 years old and i take my vitamins on a regular basis, i found out in my mid 20s that good diet and now good quality supplements are necessary because of the food we eat and the pollution and daily stress we face and those on pharmaceuticals are not willing to look into alternative life styles and to make the changes necessary to sustain a healthy body, as someone who drank a lot of alcohol when younger i am surprised that i am in the shape i am in, a little overweight becaues of toooooooo much coffee but i know how to fix these problems when they arise,

When he did get a chance to start to respond he hardly had time to get even his 1st point over. So, sorry to give what could be seen as negative talk, not my intention at all. But I really would have liked to hear more from him. I hope you can take this positively. I do hope so. Thanks for all the links and the mention of yours and his books. Have subscribed to Ivor's channel too now. So thankyou for your dedication and enthusiasm and sharing. I benefit hugely . 👏👌🏻
Excellent presentation by 2 great knowledgable guys. Thank you and I follow you both. Forget about the medical education and the medical system. Disastrous. I know first hand. I have learned more about health on my own and from gentlemen like Dr. Berry and Ivor than in Med school.
I take 20,000 of Vit 3 daily along with 100 of zinc and Ester C 1000 . I believe this has helped with boosting my immune system. I’m 77 and doing well . Since you first told me about about Vit D3 and I’m feeling better and I’ve noticed that it helps with my hypothyroidism. My hair has stopped falling out . I’m indoor a lot so I don’t think 20,000iu D3 is to much . So glad you told me us about it .
My daughter called me one day about 3.5 years ago to tell me she was pregnant. Literally, my first response was, "What's your Vitamin D level"? She said, "28". OMG! I made her take 5,000 IU/day even though her doc told her 28 was good. Pfffffff! Not only did she go full-term with twins, they actually had to induce labor. VD is REALLY important for pregnant women and the growing babies. I wish I had known to tell her to take more. Still, I got two pretty little girl babies.🤗
There won't be Pharma reps for D, so WE have to be the 'Pharma' reps. I'm making flyers for the general public and something with resources for the docs to convince them with the science. We are reaching out to the nursing homes and black communities especially. In the present 'climate', out of desperation, mainstream docs are waking up to the importance of the health of the immune system and importance of D and C and zinc. Your info is great!
In the summer and even in the winter I'm outside walking, riding my bike at least 4 times a week. My 26 year old daughter runs from the sun. She's always getting a cold and even covid a couple of times, me I'm great 👍
Hi Dr. Ken Berry! Hope that you and your family are doing well?! Angela AKA "1fatfroglady" here. [ A little note....Thomas DeLauer. Is one of the people who I follow on UA-cam as well. He, like you, is very informative about the nutrition and how it affects the body and stuff. He lost alot of weight! He follows Keto and intermittent fasting.] Take care! Ps....Love your guests accent. 😊 He is very interesting message about Vitamin D. 🙂👍
Our 100 lb (Husky, Lab, Sheperd mix) dog goes out and lays (naps) with her belly (less hair,) pointed toward the sun, year around. Whether it's 100 degrees outside or 35 degrees. Sometimes when it's very hot on the pavement she lays in a shaded area. I guess it's intuitive to her. She rarely missed her sun nap.
One of your best videos. Worthy of a Part Two episode with Mr. Ivor C. It would be interesting to have a video on the science processes by the AMA on how minimum daily requirements are set by them for many of the vitamins and minerals. If they have got it wrong for Vitamin D, the question becomes how accurate are their other MDR recommendations for proper nutrition?
Vitamin D3 Kirkland brand - first listed ingredient is Soybean Oil (not good?). Keto diet (general) began March 2019 due to too much carbohydrates (per my doctor). Lost 30 pounds and stable at 149 lbs. No longer taking statins, blood pressure or gout prescriptions. Last A1c was 5.0 in July 2020.
Interesting information on vitamin D from a non medical expert...thanks Dr Berry for interviewing Mr Ivor Cummins he's awesome... Actually I'm viewing and listening to your video while. having my sunbathe in Jamaica...:)
You can take high doses of Vitamin D as long as you also take Vitamin K and Magnesium. I take 50,000 iu per day for post concussion syndrome and Bipolar 2 disorder without issue
I used to get sunburnt easily (just within 20 mins despite being under the shade on the beach). After being on carnivore for approx 2 years or more now, I did get a little sunburnt in initially, but not like how I used to get it. Thereafter, I was fine and I am finally able to get a nice tan now!
I'm at 10 regarding my Vitamin D! I praise God for the Black Carnivore who encourages everyone to get blood test before starting the diet. I was prescribed 50,000 iu weekly. I followed asked if I could take more, over the counter, I was told no I'm taking plenty.
This is truth and so inspirational and life changing to many! Great video! Please continue to lead the way toward a revolution for society to regain their health!
Vitamin D for children isn't necessary as long as they get the sun about an hour a day and eat a diet rich in vitamins. As you get into your 30s and 40s your body needs more Vitamin D3 so that's when you need the level in your blood checked
Before cvid I would not have paid attention to this, but after seeing how purposefully deceptive the government and "health authorities" were at the cost of hundreds of thousands of lives, I totally agree with your 'theories'.
I did have a doctor prescribe 50,000iu of D3 a day and I ended up with tremendously itchy skin that would welt up when I scratched. I decreased it to 5000iu and feel so much better now.
4 doctors missed my symptoms, my problem I had no idea that vitamin D was so very important. One doctor said take your vitamin D, no other education. I decided to go back to my college days, did the research, then I’ll ask for a test next doctor's visit in 10 weeks. Now I take 50,000IU every Monday and Im losing weight, my appetite has dwindled a bit to get in 1 meal a day. I learned to supplement with 100mcg of K-2, and 400 milligrams of magnesium gluconate...2 weeks and I think close to getting back to normal. I think it could be 6 to 12 weeks of supplementation to return to normal
I just had a visit with my nephrologist and he told me to cut my vitamin d, that I was getting too much. My level is 159+ and I've been taking 50k IU's per day for a year or two, then to make them happy knocked it down to 20k IU's per day. But, he's telling me that it will mess up my kidneys and that it will cause me mental issues. Oh, and he told me to cut my protein intake to avoid oxalate kidney stones. I've been keto for 2 years and carni for almost 2 more. I asked him to send me the data and he agreed to do so, but never did.
You....this one video talks about so much I've wondered for so long. Low vit D was my very first abnormal blood test (most blood work stays "within range"). No doctor seems to care or worry about it...often I have to push to get it tested. As soon as I get to 30 they drop the big weekly doses and say "you're good". And then the next year poof I'm deficient again. I take 5k daily, light skinned, Irish ancestry (which I thought was crazy that plays into it), and recently dx with polymorphous light eruption (which I knew I had for many of my last 20 years of chronic stuff). I am about to go full carnivore and just eating up all of your videos Dr. Berry! I've done a few diet trials and I am wowed by the changes....20 years of never-changing issues....changing....with just a week or so ish.
Yeah we've had the "hole in the ozone layer BS" trotted out in Australia and New Zealand for many years now. Nobody looks at the real nitritional reasons why melanoma is an issue. Or the harm that sunblocks are doing.
Dr Berry, Can you please address MTHFR (gene mutation) and what we can do to supplement safely for those who have the gene mutation? God bless you and the work that you do.
So much mixed info on Vit D. Winter now with snow. Not getting any Vit D from the sun! Love Ivor's accent. Test in bloodwork 25 (OH)D and have it at least above 30. Also need magnesium and K2
Just had mine checked. It's 45 ng/mL. I was disappointed that it wasn't higher, because for the past 3 months I've been working an outdoor job where I get a lot of sun. I'm very fair-skinned, but now have tan forearms, neck and lower legs.
Dr Barry, remember the story you told about the breast milk and the vitamin D and that feeling or thought you had of that can’t be right? Well that’s the same feeling and thought I got when you said black people need ten times the amount of sun as lighter skinned people. There are so many different interpretations of the “data” you guys mentioned that it boggles my mind. I think this comment will not be well received but I felt compelled to leave it. Thank you for your work and quest to discover the truth about health and diet. And for helping to educate.
I’ve been told by my dermatologist to stay out of the sun. Mostly, to prevent skin cancer. Where I currently live, we have dessert weather. I get sun burn quickly here. Oh, also to prevent premature skin aging. I work from home and don’t get outdoors much. Which I like, but have thought about getting a vitamin D deficiency blood test. Thought about taking the large dose of the vitamin once per week. I will try to get it from natural food sources, now. I love the sun. I wish there was an alternative that doesn’t cause wrinkled skin nor pigment. I have constellation freckles. I wish there was a light bulb that doesn’t cause skin aging. Oh, well...
I grew up in California in the 1950's and was prescribed cod liver oil as a child because I had rickets. My legs straightened at about age of 7 or 8 and the oil was stopped. Now I have bowed legs because the D was stopped. Clearly I needed to continue D supplementation. BTW, I am an olive skinned Greek. My brother who is light skinned does not have bowed legs.
Thank you both so very much.... I am low in all these and suffering terribly. Local Dr just keeps giving chemicals drugs. All of those as well Omg thank you
Canada has the highest rate of MS in the world! I wonder how much is related to the fact that we hide away in our homes for 6-8 months of the year, and slather on the sunscreen when we are outside
Thank you so much for having Ivor on....I watch both of you... I have always taken 5000 IU's of D3 daily ...my health store gal scared me into lowering that dose and my hair is falling out in handfuls... I'm so glad I watched this... I think there is a correlation between my hair loss and lowering my vitamin D3 2 months ago... what do you think Dr. Berry?
I don't think your hair loss has anything to do with the vit d. supplement.I don't take any vit. D supplement and I have thick hair. I have salmon, oat milk, almond milk, soy milk, cheese which all contain vit D. Also a lot of vegetables. The only problem I have with supplements is because their isolated and I don't know what chemicals are used to extract it. I read that fish oil supplements were extracted with some toxic chemical and the fish oxidized.

I have been struggling for over 10 years vit d always comes back
do you also supplement with B-1 and B-12 methylcobalamin ?
@@jjpauline1828 i have started recently
parathyroid hormone levels?
Do you have sufficient magnesium?
Magnesium is consumed when the body process vitamin D, so if the levels don't go up as they should, low magnesium could be the reason.
The liver converts vitamin D3 into 25(OH)D, which is what's usually measured as the blood level.
If that doesn't work one can supplement with that form directly. I belive that requires a doctor's prescription.
With your much to low levels, you need a doctor who know these things.
It takes something like 3 months to build up to the level where it plateau out after you have changed the supplementation dose
You don’t need 3 months- a week of Mega doses does it
So insightful, thank you both! Since going keto I can definitely spend more time in the sun. Btw just went carnivore and woke up for the first time in ages with such a clear head, feels great, like I’m ‘awake’ 😊
2 of the best accents in the world in one video.. I'm in heaven :D
😂😅😆🤣
Me too!
Suyeta Rose love it💕
I just had to pause the video because Dr. Berry said (talking about doctors warning against Vitamin D,) "that's ignorant!" in his unmistakably middle Tennessee accent.... 😏😊
Yes, sort of amazing to embody enlightenment/intelligence and a thick Southern accent in one human, but.....he is also a lefty, and they are usually in a class of their own to begin with.....
Free from sunburn since stopping to seed oil’s.
Wow, is this true!?? Thanks so much for sharing this information👍
@@flowerchild777 probably not true for all.
Same for me. I practically dare the sun to burn me now, although of course I don't allow myself to burn. Never use sun screen. Seed oils are poison.
@@flowerchild777 YES it's true, I speak from personal experience. I never burn anymore since avoiding seed oils. I make my own mayonnaise with avocado oil, and salad dressings with olive oil for example.
@@flowerchild777 yes I I found this to be true also. I am a Brit living in Thailand and since I have been keto for the last 18 months I have noticed real change in the way my skin reacts to sun. I just go brown and not red or burn as before.

Thanks guys for the excellent review! Finally heard a good reason to skip the 50,000 Iu D2 prescription. Got to confess learn something new every day.
I still take mine once per week and supplement with 10000D3 and 50mcg K2 daily
I always wondered why they recommended D3 for breastfed babies. My next pregnancy will be so different from the last one! I'm so sad that I didn't know all of this the first time. It's so sad that we've been lied to for so many years and it's harming our health and the health of our children!
Yes no one told me that meat and keto would help mine and my daughters autism. Obviously its a neurological condition and cant be "healed" but it can be treated and helped with meat! We are still autistic, but the "bad" symptoms are drastically better

Here is a list of VITAMIN D3 rich foods: ua-cam.com/video/uaC6VG0jvZg/v-deo.html

That is so true. I am a natural red head very light skin and could not be in the sun. Since changing my diet no problem.
At minute 40. TB and D3. Perhaps that is why sanitariums in the southwest had success with remission. Plenty of sun.
I like the way the guest uses "we" to refer to what life was doing 300 or 400 million years ago.

I love your channel and find all your comments valuable helpful and interesting. You are so knowledgeable and keen to share, on this occasion, for me, when u asked Ivor to contribute, u kept talking over him or giving your few before he could speak.
I read that over 4000 daily causes toxicity.
@@nzimbilef You read wrong.
That high zinc can wreak havoc on your copper.

@@nzimbilef If that amount was toxic, people wouldn't be able to survive being in the sun more than a few minutes or so a day... So no.
Wow.
Wow! Two of my favourite smart men on the same podcast. 🎉🎶 My brain is dancing!
Hi Doctors. You are doing a great job. Thank you.
I know Ivor's work ... great interviews and tons of helpful information .... Thank you, both!
Get Ivor's book! It's great! And Dr Berry's, too. Love you guys!
So glad to see your video on this topic.
Thank you for watching, and Sharing!
Dogs don't make vitamin d from the sun they have to get it from their diet.
Another great video.Lots of great info. Many, many thanks. Congrats on 3 million subscribers. Love the guest speakers.
I have followed Ivor for years, bought his book and ESPECIALLY during Blovid you-know-what.
I have MS. I love talking about this

Yes horrible soy oil- need one in coconut oil etc
Interesting information on vitamin D from a non medical expert...thanks Dr Berry for interviewing Mr Ivor Cummins he's awesome... Actually I'm viewing and listening to your video while. having my sunbathe in Jamaica...:)
You can take high doses of Vitamin D as long as you also take Vitamin K and Magnesium. I take 50,000 iu per day for post concussion syndrome and Bipolar 2 disorder without issue
Are you still taking 50,000?
TOXIC to the doctor's POCKET!
I don't agree with the "coming out of the ocean" statement, but that's a different topic. Our bodies are amazing.
What about vitamin D3 for children? Is it safe to supplement and how much would you recommend?
Thank you for this episode. You guys rock!
Vitamin D for children isn't necessary as long as they get the sun about an hour a day and eat a diet rich in vitamins. As you get into your 30s and 40s your body needs more Vitamin D3 so that's when you need the level in your blood checked
Get their levels checked and then supplement if needed.
Such a treat to watch these two talk! ...so educative ...thanks folks!

Dr Berry,
Can you please address MTHFR (gene mutation) and what we can do to supplement safely for those who have the gene mutation?
God bless you and the work that you do.
I think Thorne has something for that
So much mixed info on Vit D.
I'm very fair-skinned, but now have tan forearms, neck and lower legs.
hello doctor I love your channel and I love how real you are. and thank you for help
Oh, well...
Amazon sells D3 50,000 units from multiple venders. I take one a week and I increase to 2-3 a day when (if) I start to feel sick.
All of those as well
Omg thank you
Canada has the highest rate of MS in the world! I wonder how much is related to the fact that we hide away in our homes for 6-8 months of the year, and slather on the sunscreen when we are outside
Vit d can almost stop MS and most autoimmune attacks
I would love a debate with Dr.Berry and Ivor Cumins with Stephen Meyer and Douglas Axe on evolution and protein folding.

So informative. Thank you.
