This is why having parts on hand is the way to go. I like the Washington, got one I need to hook up and see what it does.

It's nice to be able to fix things quick like this. I wish I had parts for everything.

I just successfully recapped my 858 President Washington.
I don't seem to see much swing when I talk into the microphone...
      Anything I should look for?
      I'm curious is all.
I still need to have it tuned and aligned.

@PopeyeKF4LBG An alignment should help, especially after a recap. Let me know how it goes.

I recently started watching your videos after starting the learning process of repairing them for fun and I appreciate you taking the time to do these troubleshooting videos they are awesome especially when it’s a radio im working on. I have this same radio I’m putting back together and I had a question. I see that The driver and final transistor on the heat sink near the power supply area each have a pair of wires with a metal loop screwed down under the heat sink screws with the transistors. Are these metal loops supposed to be insulated from both the heat sink AND the metal backing of the transistors? They were unscrewed when I got it and want to make sure they are screwed back down to the heat sink correctly. Thank you again!

Yes. There should be an insulator bushing that the screw goes through. Either plastic or ceramic.
