Don't know about being a Master at anything, but trying to do what I can the best I can. Got a little side tracked, with summer jobs, but will be getting back at this project very soon. Thanks for commenting. Appreciated!
I have an old 1995 evo i did the top end on several years ago but now I want to go and rebuild the whole thing properly my question is do I need to lap my case when I have same case half’s and just replacing bearings on crank, cause those lap tools are crazy expensive.basically why do we lap cases?
Hello As long as your race, for the piniion bearing, is good, then you should be ok. Measure it for out of round to check it. Measure at 12 oclock, up and down, and sidways at 3 oclock, in the front and the rear where the bearings run. If it is not the same measurement all around, or look obviously scared up or burnt looking, then they should be lapped. Cases are line lapped to keep everything running in line perfectly. In most cases you should be ok but stuff happens and after a lot of use and cases can need to be lapped.. Mine were lapped in this case as they were two different case halfs so it had to be done to be sure they were straight. Good luck and thanks for commenting.
Hello. If you have new cases they should not need to be lapped. The job does not cost all that much but shipping costs would kill you up here and back down to you. Thanks for asking and commenting.
Awesome man!! Great to see you on here.
