I drove from Florida In my Miata just to drive this road a few times......it was great and an experience that I will never forget....I live in Washington state now and there are endless mountain roads to rip on..... seriously thinking about buying a ND2 Miata.....I'm very close to doing it in fear the miata might be lost forever and Miata is the best most fun car that ive ever driven hands down.. people made fun of me for driving it and before i owned a miata i used to make fun of the owners. It's the most underrated sports car in the world and I'd you know how to drive it can out perform most I stand by that....I ended up blowing my motor in my na and put a ls1 motor in my Miata 30k later it was a unstoppable monster....sold it to move across the country. My next move is another miata

Nice short shifts. Making me wanna get one! I noticed you put a darker trim around the shifter too. I've actually had that shiny silver stuff distract me before.
Short shifter is nice. Superb quality. The install isn’t too bad but prying out the factory housing with oem ATV gasket is abit hairy (for me). The shifter makes this particular whining noise at times - I thought it was my tranny going out but after talking to other SS owners, they all say the same noise. Dark trim around the shifter turns out to cheap but awesome mod.
Im assuming you're using a goPro here. What settings are you using so that it doesn't auto pan back and forth as you make the turns. Nice video btw. Relaxing......

I am running Meister R Zeta CDR Coilover about an 1inch lowered across w/ 215-45-17 tires. I have the damper rate set around -10 clicks from full stiff in the front and slightly softer in the rear. This setup still run stiffer than stock Bilstein that camewith the Club but holds alot better in the twisties.

It’s US129. The tail of dragon is at the border of NC and TN but almost all of fast and fun section is on the TN side. There are alot of good road in that whole area.

Yes. It’s Cravenspeed SS. Compare to stock, it gives you shorter throws but not that much different to be honest. The major difference is how the shifts feel more mechanical. The shifter also makes more NVH (whining noises especially) and some can’t deal with it.

I have Meister R Zeta CDR Bc I don’t do autocross. I do track here and there. Perfect setup for me. If money is no issue, look into Olin. They are probably better. I don’t want to put too much money into my occasional car. Mine is 2017 and only have 11,000 miles on it.
I keep tossing around the idea of replacing my 2019 rf. I have driven most new sports cars but have been disappointed. Think I’m just going to find a way to add 50 more Hp. Just want to pull out of corners a bit faster. Just drove a new top line Supra . Fast car but just did not feel as buttoned up . Cayman was nice but not paying twice as much for not twice as much car . My opinion not most folks opinion.
You can always go faster but doesn't mean you're going to be fun driving around in it. I see these fast cars at track days and most of them are the beast the driver is trying to tame from going off the road. Miata on the other hand, is just enough power to keep that smile on my face.
I have a red tech insert from Craven Speed. I left the media screen on simply because I don't know the road too well and I have google map on screen to gauge the upcoming turns. I do however turn off the screen during my track days.
Handbrake position is the same for both left-hand drive and right-hand drive models. If you have right-hand drive model, the handbrake would be on the driver side and vice versa. In US, we are all left-hand drive - there are a few exception.
Tail of the Dragon in Smoky Mountain. US129. Border of TN and NC. Google map it. There are also tons of other gaps in the area which are equally great too.
Do your research. 2016+ Miata has weaker transmission that can blow with supercharger or turbo power. Mine is 2017 club and I only use on some weekend cruises and occasional track days. Not interested in putting more power.
You dont like using much that great gear shift? I would change gear much more often than you do and let the engine work much higher. Are you preserving the gear shift and the engine for next life? This mazda is telling you to push the accelerator. Don't you hear her complaining?
I don't think you have been to the Tail of the Dragon by the way you talk here. I don't need to be driving the crap out of the car all the time - especially on the public road. Its all about driving smooth, while keeping safe to yourself and bunch of other people you share the same road with. This ain't no race track buddy.

Thanks. Great road to drive, especially following more experienced drivers. Camera is GoPro 9 mounted between the seats with internal stabilizer on.

GoPro 9 on wide angle with hypersmooth on (not boost). Since it wide angle, the auto pan isn’t that noticeable.

ND2 does now have a supercharger kit that can up the power more.

Power wise not much - Just fab9 n1 tune with GWR muffler. I have Meister R coilover, 215 width tires, & stiffer sway bar.
