Generally more leading roles in general would've been great. I loved Episodes though were he played himself. Also, on Friends he got to play an alien who left the stage of a play into space via a blinking metal ladder to his spaceship, so that's something 😅
It _started out_ promising... but it just didn't stay that way. Best description I ever saw of the LiS movie's progression to terribleness went like this: "The movie started off as ST: TNG, then turned into ST: DS9, then ST: Voyager, then it became Doctor Who*, and it ended up as Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers". If you watch it with that in mind, it's *disturbingly* true. The thing's basically five acts, and they really do devolve pretty much along that progression! * - (I'm a huge Doctor Who fan, but keep in mind this was pre-revival and, if I'm being honest, it's a fair cop. Act Four is all corridors, quarries, and wobbly sets.)
Plus, Gary _freakin!_ Oldman actually makes the movie *worse*, which is something that has never happened before or since in any movie! (_Bram Stoker's Dracula_ is probably the next closest.) I have no idea what the hell was going on with his entire Dr. Smith performance, but it just does *not* work.
Delsin Rowe I love the movie too and for a very long time I wanted to own a copy of it. Now that I do own a copy on dvd I watch it quite regularly. Plus I love this song (ending credits song). :D
I wouldn't say best, but there was an era with great theme songs and covers. My favorites are: Apollo 440 - Lost in Space (Imaginary Forces Edit) James Bond Theme - Moby Re-Version Filter / The Crystal Method - (Can't you) Trip Like I Do The Utah Saints Take On The Theme From Mortal Kombat Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr - Theme from Mission: Impossible
When I was in the Air Force, every 6 months I had to run 1.5 miles within a certain time limit. I used this song at the start of my run, and at the end where I just ran all out. Matt Le Blanc could have had a drama career - he is outstanding as Major West.
Don't care what anyone else says, I loved this movie. Sure its cheesy as hell at certain points, but I will always love the visual effects and designs. Plus Oldman was fun as Smith. This remix of the classic theme song is mighty badass too.
+Daniel Appleton They did. I wish this movie got more respect than it did. I loved this film growing up. It's pretty much a family Sci-Fi adventure with some surprisingly awesome moments. (I loved the Opening Space battle and the film's climax.) It's not perfect, but its still watchable for me.
+Rashad Moore It's a very good, adult - but - still - family - friendly movie that's an homage to the series without the campiness. Zachary Smith was the ice - veined villain that he was originally written as, too. They had thought about getting Billy Mumy to play " Older Will ", but either he didn't want to or he had a scheduling conflict or some other reason. This was pretty close to the pilot episode, as far as I remember.
+Rashad Moore The cheesy parts were the best parts, in my opinion. I grew up watching the original show in syndication on the sci-fi channel as a kid. I posted earlier that William Hurt and the bizarre and completely broken sci-fi astrophysics were definitely hurt the movie in the long run. Had they decided against including the time travel stuff and some of the more crazy uses of their light speed drive to create more plot based weirdness, focused on the character relationships, and explored of the unknowns of space with a cheesy vibe, then this movie might have worked more.
It was one of John Williams' first attempts at space opera. It sounds like the Asteroid field music from 'The Empire Strikes Back', and I wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't referred to this when wiring it.
God I wish Matt would have done more. I get he wanted the quiet life but DAMN! I have been rooting for him for so long. Hoping he does a movie or two before he has time to reconsider! Love you, man!
Yeah, this film's definitely a guilty pleasure for me. I know it jumps the shark a few times, but I still love it! Bruce Broughton's score is spectacular, and I like the new Jupiter 2.
DAMN, THIS ROCKS! I loved the Lost In Space movie despite what all the critics said. And this remix of the old John Williams theme is a banger. You did a great job with this, Mr. John McHugh!
Yes. There were always movies that had experimental technology later on used in big hits (like Titanic, The Matrix, Avatar) Bullet time was even used in TV ads (I remember one with pigeons "frozen" in mid-air while the camera was moving around) in 1998/1999 before the Matrix was released.
This montage version of the theme tune was better than the movie. I watched the premiere of LIS in 1965, and have continued to follow it to this day. I was horribly disappointed with certain aspects of the movie but what saved it for me as always was the technical and visual effects. Watching the Jupiter launch and the way the inside was designed is an example. But seeing this vid makes me want to watch the movie again. I guess I will.
the 8 people who hated this video must have been Titanic fans, cause the weekend this movie came to the theaters it KNOCKED Titanic out of first place that weekend and they are still bitter about it! I LOVED this movie!!! some of the effects are incredible! like when they had to walk into the bubble! and the effects with the spiders, and the computers they used, the displays they had, the cryo sleep chambers and of course the first robot that Will operated! Have it on blu ray now!
This should have had at least 1 sequel. It was stated that the audience couldn't relate to the new actors like in Star Trek were the same were used in the 80s movies. Duh, this was a young family and the actors from the 60s were old. The ones still alive were used in the movie, the movie followed the 'monsters everywhere' theme from the old show, and Dr Smith actually acted evil like in the promo from when I was a kid. This movie I thought was better than the 1st Treky movie by far. I loved Cartwright in the TV show and her replacement Chabert did an excellent job of updating the character. Great job on the editing of this posting! Amazing this movie is already almost 20 years old.
Very cool. High energy stuff. I like the video clips too. I actually bought this VHS video cassette at a thrift store for one dollar, and it was unused, new, still wrapoed in plastic. Yes, I have a VHS machine, it works fine and I play my little movies on it. I scrounge the thrift stores looking for films that I'd like to possess, so I don't have to watch network television because it sucks!
I consider this the greatest theme remake in television/movie history. It hits you as hard as a sledgehammer from the very beginning but then swells to that magnificent original tune. It didn't just remake the original theme, it celebrates it... holds it up as one of the great iconic themes of the last century. When I first heard it I was expecting the usual "we know better now, lets deconstruct it" trash. Instead I was blown away by it's vigor and reverence for the source material. Re-runs of the original show were on when I was a kid so it was more emotional for me than most, I'm sure.
I have never heard of this show/movie or whatever but I am going to watch this now. Thanks youtube recommendations. Also I could tell at a glance that these effects were done by Industrial Light & Magic (probably why i'm going to watch despite the horrible reviews lmao)
Because this movie, Gary Oldman became friend with Matt Le Blanc and he was invited to FRIENDS for two episodes about the wedding of Chandler and Monica
man i loved this tune more than anything as a kid
Cause they e been killing us since we were young with operant conditioning
Can you recommend anything that sounds similar to this?
Fun little factoid:Both versions of the Lost In Space theme were composed by none other than the legendary John Williams himself.
You have excellent juvenile taste. I'm 48, and still love it. Listening in 2023.
i was left behind by my friends at the end of the movie in cinema because i wanted to hear this song....
Penzija Mirovinić worth it
❤❤❤❤❤❤
I wish Matt LeBlanc would have done more sci-fi action movies. He's awesome! Btw, epic vid! :D
Generally more leading roles in general would've been great. I loved Episodes though were he played himself. Also, on Friends he got to play an alien who left the stage of a play into space via a blinking metal ladder to his spaceship, so that's something 😅
Am I the only one that actually loved the movie too
Nope, I liked it too. I don't understand the hate.

BEST soundtrack song ever

Apollo 440 - Lost in Space (Imaginary Forces Edit)
James Bond Theme - Moby Re-Version
Filter / The Crystal Method - (Can't you) Trip Like I Do
The Utah Saints Take On The Theme From Mortal Kombat
Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr - Theme from Mission: Impossible
Still listening to it in 2020. Amazing theme!
Works in 2021 also!
Works in 2022 😎
2023 too!
2023 and still listening

What was the time limit?
@@excelmannjoe7606it probably wasn't that impressive, given this guy's response time.
@@johnburke6332 Snarky but a bit funny

Rashad Moore I had hoped they'd make a 2nd LIS movie. They seemed to leave the possibility open, well enough.

+Fodxp hatesgoogle They should've made it along the lines of " Galaxy Quest ". It would've been golden.
One of those tunes you only have to hear once to remember the rest of your life...

Loved this in the 90's
RRROCKS... even after 21 years -:)
It's 2021
I was beginner into electronic music when this appeared those days & I still in love with Apollo 440
This made john Williams LIS theme even cooler!
They did the 'bullet time' effect from the Matrix a year before the Matrix came out at 1:51

@@MinekEzQM I believe the Christian Slate movie Kuffs used it first. I could be wrong though.
Never saw the movie but always liked this track
Not perfect, but quiet entertaining. Matt Leblanc doing what he should have done more of. Great cast all round.
I owned the movie on VHS and the soundtrack on CD. Life was good in the late 90s
The trumpet part allways get me :D
The last guy to kill a bad guy buys the beer xD
Trumpet? What trumpet? The melody was played by a synthesizer.
