The Arc definitely looks better than the FREE, I gave my P2 to a friend after using it interchangeably with the Spirit for a couple years. I managed to break the P2 once. I’ve broken a Wave and the TTI Charge at least four times. Leatherman has a great warranty, and I live close to their headquarters. Under similar uses though, haven’t managed to break the Spirit. I guess that means in my use case it’s the more durable tool. It’s also more corrosion resistant. I also don’t care for bit drivers. It’s obvious Leatherman didn’t make the Arc for me, that being said I hope they sell a lot of them and do well as Leatherman is a great company. I’m sure I’ll end up with an Arc at some point to beat up for a couple years if nothing else. Cool comparison video for guys like me who are users of both brands.
It would make more sense if the Victorinox had the diamond file, because it’s so small and dainty that the only thing you can really do with that file is sharpen the edge of a knife
good review thanks ! Although both are premium, i think they're different categories. The leatherman is more of a foreman's tool. You know someone who's working in the field but not working as hard as his workers. The Victorinox is more of a gentleman's multitool. The fit and polish, along with the softer metal on the pliers is why i'd consider it that. Thanks again
Good review! I believe there is a second pocket in the grey sheath for another bit kit...You have the "butter blade"....it is the Swisstool Spirit XC, which has been discontinued...I like it better than the Swisstool Spirit X, which has a regular blade similar to the one on the SwissChamp....the nice thing about the XC is that has a wood saw & a metal saw...besides being a package opener, the tool can be used to cut the casing lengthwise of electrical wiring...as you probably know, the larger blade is to cut the casing, the smaller one is to strip it...
I've been a welder for 22 years. For me at least, in General plier use, the Leatherman is quite impeccable...however, as far as dedicated tools go, Victorinox comes out very much superior due to their robustness and durability. If you are choosing to compare the Leatherman Arc to any of the Plier head multitools from Victorinox, the Leatherman arc doesn't stand a chance, with the only exception being the ingenuity of the Victorinox Spirit X scissors needs to be very much re-done. As much as I love Leatherman, when it comes to their Free series, they have fallen from grace in my opinion... Now, if this was in comparison between Victorinox Plier Head multitools and Leatherman Wave & the Surge, nor even a close contest, Leatherman is far triumphant in almost every category.😎👍
Spiritx handle has no hot spot due to rounded edge unlike the competitor also their ratchet is excellent & the bits are durable. Leatherman bits are softer need regular replacement.
If the spirit had a hammer surface, I would already have one. Unfortunately, I have a tendency to bash things in place too much and feel that I would damage something as precise as the spirit tool. But I personally love the design and other tool implements. That was why I originally got a Signal and then Goat for work. I will probably wind up getting the Arc for some personal pocket candy when I am at home. I hope they allow some customization to it. If I am going to pay that price I might as well go all out and add a personal touch to it.
"The Battle of Premiums" Thanks for this video! I've been wanting the Arc but the price here in NZ is ridiculous. LM Arc NZ$599 vs Victorinox Spirit X NZ$249.The fact that I know how uncomfortable my Free series P2 is. I think I will settle with my Victorinox for a while.
Which one would you perfer for pocket carry and actual heavy use? I have a supertool 300 for work, but i want one for outside of work. I do a lot of working on cars, houses, and landscaping outside of work. I like the spirit x, but ive heard that it gets gummed up easily. The leatherman arc is pretty expensive though and i dont need a magnacut blade, plus i dotn like thunb studs. Ive also heard that it has a lot of play. I think both have good tool sets, but Im in-between the two.
I think both are great tools. Just a note, that's victorinox swisstool spirit. It's not spirit x, x is with more traditional victorinox blade. Another note, I've tried to use the micro driver on my wave+ on my glasses, and the weight and bulk of the tool makes it useful for such a precise driver, at least that's my experience. I have spirit x and recently got spirit mx clip, great tools, but I love my wave+ as well, that's live I guess 😁 Cheers 👍
can’t stand victorinox, you have to keep your nails a tad longer to get to the tools, forget about using it with gloves, it’s for an edc person, not a blue collar guy like myself
I use it always, but I don't bite my nails. Now it's almost 2 ares. I have him all day, and it's the best tool for everything . And on Leatherman, players are garbage, and they stick so you can't close tham and ewry thing opens cos ita made flopy. Also, Vic Spirit cost 150€ and Leatherman cost 300€ so it's duble. I only use Leatherman Squirt PS4, and it rusts.
Blue collar guy here. Metal fab, facilities maintenance, swimming pool maintenance and an auto mechanic by trade. I’m also a nail biter. I have the OG butter-blade Spirit. Used a Charge for years, great tool. The Spirit is easily my most used and most favorite multi-tool of all time. I do carry a Supertool 300 as well, but find the Spirit easier to access. Different strokes. Without a doubt, the handles on either Swisstool are the most ergonomic for plier use. That said, I do prefer the Leatherman plier head and cutters. The FREE series is ok, they’re usable, but the tools by and large aren’t great except the scissors and pliers and the handles are pretty bad for hard use of the pliers. I’d take my Supertool handles over the FREE handles. The FREE/Arc handles are definitely an ergonomic downgrade from the Wave/Charge. Guess it just depends on what you want. I’d rather work a little harder for a better tool than have an easier time accessing an inferior one. I’m also tired of pinching my palm. That’s why I ditched my Channellock’s years ago for Knipex. No more pinched palms.
Victorinox is amazing has a surge and wave and the Swisstool is lighter than the surge and feels the same as the wave weight wise. Victorinox just does it better. Ruler you can read, feel of a quality tool, longer secondary tools, more tools and no gimmick Leatherman pot-metal replaceable bits that you have to buy a whole set for the Phillips. Leatherman has become Apple with "Apple Tax"
Easily opened with thick leather gloves on. You pull them out mostly by pushing down and getting a slight grip and then just quickly pulling it out. The 'nail nick' is not really using your nails... I'm so tired of people who have never used Victorinox products correctly if ever having picked one up.
Daggum. You all are rich wearing a collar and such. I wear a bib and boots errrday. My work tools live in a bucket. I get 'em at flea markets and I've found a fair share in the dirt. Only knife I can afford brand new for the pocket is slipjoint. You all pay guys like me to fix your problems not knowing I'm carrying a chipped (use the tip as a screwdriver and cap lifter) $10 wallymart pocket knife. And I get paid to feed the kids...not 3 hundo on a knife. ❤
@@C69hJc4 Indeed, it would seem ironic; would it not, oh person of privilege? I suppose it offends you so that a dirty blue collar worker would watch materials which you feel should not be seen by the lower-class pond scum and then have the audacity to have a voice. But then again maybe you are just a pr*ck. If you want to come out to the job site I'm thinking there will be some gentlemen of lesser means, resources, and apparent privelege than you who would like to hear you tell them to "find a way to make more money"--face-to-face.
Leatherman hasn't made a real leatherman since the rebar & ST300 ...everything that was implemented for various models after those were made for little old women or ppl suffering from arthritis..& dont bring up the surge model as it clearly wants to be a less durable ST300 which its not
Para mí la Swistool Spirit es la mejor multiherramienta, no tengo problema con las uñas y las herramientas son las que más utilizo a diario.

Thanks for the comparison! I love my Spirit MX Clip, it is so comfortable in the pocket for all day carry.
Amazing multitool for sure

I have the Spirit X with the ratchet set, a Streamlight microstream in one side pouch and flint rod in other side of the Leatherman case. It’s perfect
The Small Victorinox eye glass screw driver is also a hex bit. You can use it with the ratchet. You don't need to use your hands/fingers.
Oh good to know! Thanks

Leatherman far easier to pull out the tools that’s why I keep a toothpick in Victorinox’s pouch because it’s superb

The vocal fry is crazy
Spirit mx clip would be a better comparison
Release date on arc?
Nobody knows. Maxilvl said today (9/25) but was apparently wrong. Rumors on Reddit says 10/17/2023.

Most of the tools on the arc looks so weak 😂 the victorinox is already old and yet ..
Victorinox is the past. Everyone needs new things. 😊
I can assure you that nothing is weak on the arc. All the tools and the scales as well are hardened.
Leatherman screwdriver “I think it will be okay” .. meanwhile it’s their top of the line most expensive multitool ever made and it’s flimsy.
