I got a Swiss Tool X plus on my 13th birthday from my father. I'm approaching 30 this year and it's still working beautifully! I love it! Don't know how many times I've used it in a pinch. I've taken good care of it and who knows, when I have a kid maybe they get to have it on their 13th birthday. :)
If it were not for the fact that the scissors on the Swiss tool are so good...it would be the spirit hands down for me...I wish laws in the UK would alow them both to be legal. Still the highest quality multitools in the world...no contest.
@@miketsaron7284 I agree they are more precision on the LM and with the replaceable cutters on something like the Wave that puts them ahead of the Vic.
But it’s easy enough to throw a Compact in your pocket. The nice thing about the Spirit is that within the limitations of the design, they gave us the beefiest most overbuilt scissors they could. It can handle tasks that the normal SAK scissors cannot. I’d still probably prefer the standard large scissors, but the Spirit scissors aren’t awful.
I have Leatherman charge tti and wave. After watching this video I immediately ordered a victorinox swiss tool X. I'm waiting for my victorinox now. Thank you Jonathan

This is literally everything one might want to know about these two tools. I wrote a lengthy comment about the Spirit being my favorite piece of EDC gear, I just can't recommend it enough. Thanks Eyal, really appreciated. I am learning with every video and cringe at the early ones! I also find the Spirit is my go-to at the moment. HAppy New Year to you too, and thanks for supporting the channel from the start.
The spirit is a nice tool, but if you can get both for a similar price, get the real deal, at least if you ask me! I got my first swisstool years ago, they never let me down. Additionally you can use the full size jot only as a ruler, its as a 90 degree angle if folded on one side. Something i thought I’d never use… until i needed it multiple times. The prying tool is something I’d really miss on the spirit, together with the much better pliers the swisstool has. Again, the spirit is an amazing tool, but if the 80 Grams don’t bother you, I would recommend the full size one. It’s just the better of these great tools 😁👍
Your videos are the best available, thank you. The Spirit X has been my edc for 15+ years, however mine has a serrated sheeps foot blade instead of a drop point. It is amazingly sharp but I would like to have a small drop point also.
Well done. One thing about the Swiss Tool's Phillips driver is its orientation. It curves more into the centerline of the entire tool making for much easier turning of screws, at least from my perspective. YMMV.
Missed this video of yours.. hope I had watched it before buying the SWISS TOOL. SPIRIT is definitely the one for me and the one I should have bought. Great video Jon!

Once I acquired the Spirit X the Swiss Tool X was relegated to the glove box of my motor home because the Spirit is much more convenient to carry around and more comfortable to use. Was game changing when I accidentally discovered a LM Supertool 300 is crazily better pocket carry than a wave and without outside opening tools doesn't damage pockets after leaving one in a jacket in a hurry w/o noticing till weeks later. Swiss Tool X much the same works in a jacket or jeans after a week to adapt or some crazy weather makes you avoid pocket use.
Fantastic video . I used to own the spirit x and it was a beautiful tool . For my job though the toolset on the wave + made it a better tool for my needs . The replaceable cutters . The ease of taking the tool apart and the mini screwdriver are indispensable . The vic was the better built though . Very much a gentleman’s multi tool , like a Swiss watch . I loved the way the tools clicked into place . My wave has bean severely used and for rough use I think the leatherman edges it but the vic was beautiful .
Another great video Jon, thank you. I was given a Swiss tool a few years back by my late father in law. It is a thing of beauty 😀 it is the older version with the serrated blade which I prefer as I always have another victorinox knife with scissors anyway. I have the Swisstool in my hiking sling bag, so weight is not an issue and it is fantastic to have when camping.
A great tool to carry - thanks for sharing - good to see these tools get passed down - there is not much these days that can function just as well after many years
@@JonGadget my father passed in 2021 and I recently found the Victorinox tool in his stuff and kept it. ❤ Its the model without the scissors and in brand new condition though im certain he had it for 25+ years. Your video was so informative in understanding what this thing does. I absolutely love this handy little gadget. Thank you. 💝
I love the swisstool x, bought it as a replacement for the leatherman charge tti, because onehand opening is not street legal in germany. The quality is outstanding, it feels almost too nice to use compared to a leatherman, that got rough edges everywhere and doesnt care about scratches. But the action of the pliers, the opening and closing of each tool with a distinct clack, very satisfying and in my opinion unmatched. I carry it open in a plastic holder from victorinox and it shows its bling very nice, man jewelery at its finest. There goes no day without using it and judging it from my in 98 made swisstool, those things will last a lifetime. Bought a new one this year and am quite happy about the beefed up pliers, way better file and the opening of the pliers is even nicer (didnt think that could be possible). I have a Leatherman Surge on its way to me, hope it can live up to the hype.
@@JonGadget have been fondeling with the surge for a day and i got lucky with the tolerances of the tools, especially the inner tools are exactly right (but clumping wich i dont like, but has its advantages) but the pliers are very stiff still (made in 2017, used) and closing them requires so much force, my wife cant close them, makes it really cumbersome to use, switching to the swisstool feels like holiday. Also i spent an hour smoothing all the sharp edges with a diamond file, this thing felt like a cactus before. So definitly not a "king" for me, more a peasant:)
@@peddypeoples941I have a Surge but I'm considering a Swiss Tool or Spirit. How's the weight difference? I've heard that the Swiss Tool is lighter and more comfortable to carry than the Surge.
Excellent comparison. I did find your comment about the Wave as more industrial was spot on. Having carried both the Swisstool X and Spirit X I usually carry the SpiritX unless I’m carrying a Leatherman.
Thank you for your video, it really helped me choose. For my use, the Spirit X (and may be a rachet and bit option) For info, there is a M version of both swisstools for an easy single hand blade opening.
I'm a wheelchair user and I keep my swiss tool spirit x , i think, in a neat little velcro pocket underneath. It's turned out to be very handy , for all sorts of little jobs, as we all know. Having sliced my thumb open with a swiss army knife that folded on me, I really appreciate the locking tools as well. I love victorinox quality but I bought a mossy oak multi tool as a gift this Christmas and was really surprised at how good the quality seemed to be...for 20 quid! I might buy another for myself and leave it in car, at that price. I'm not a tool expert though, maybe they break? Good channel....my birthdays coming up heh heh
After your review comparing the Spirit X to the Wave+ I picked up the Spirit X and really like it (already had a Wave+). Very ergonomic and easy to use with the outward opening tools. I like the Swisstool quality and features, but it’s just a bit larger and heavier than I prefer. Although if I were a handyman or maintenance person I’d have no problem carrying it on my belt in a pouch as an EDC, and taking full advantage of all the tools. Thanks for the very detailed in-depth comparison!
Excellent video and great comparison of both multi tools. I own Swiss Tool X, and yes it is big, heavy piece of metal but the weight doesn't matter for me i love it! :D
I am always stating to my husband any multi tool I want has to have scissors. I use them so much and I really have to admit the spirit x does look so good to me too . 👍
Another great review…and I wholeheartedly agree with your summation of (what I consider, as well as you do) the intrinsic mission statement of ALL multi-tools and that is: to get one out of a jam, immediately and without having to stop, and source a dedicated tool, in that moment in order to solve your problem. Coincidentally I both gifted, AND received a Spirit Tool X for Christmas yesterday, and while I own and love my numerous Leatherman devices, the differences in refinement and fit and finish between the brands is quite apparent and the Victorinox is certainly the winner in that department. Of course I have several SAKs, so Victorinox’s reputation for quality and refinement is not new to me. But, this is my first Vic multi-tool, and likely my last unless another model is ever introduced as a Swisstool isn’t on my radar. Again Thanks for some of the best reviews available.
I am going to try a Swiss multi tool for the first time, this video was very helpful in making my choice. Thanks! I have almost all of the Leatherman multis, which I love and use daily. I have tried a bunch of Gerbers as well, but I just don't like them. We'll see how the Swiss do!
A work of art no doubt. I have the older swisstool, the larger model with the saw and the extra serrated blade. It's my second one as I I unintentionally left my first one behind in a hurried cross country move. I would like to get a Spirit someday
Swiss Tool X is the best in my opinion (not just the best Victorinox multitool, but the best multitool, period!). I don't care for the curvy handles on the Spirit. The way they swoop out when closed seems like they would make using any of the side tools awkward.
Thank you for this comparison, I just ordered the Tool X w/ Ratched and bits - Was not sure which one I would need, also out of the Leatherman lineup, so I am going to try this one.
The swiss tool wins for me as a heavier multi tool that i use for work tasks. I also carry a pioneer alox x so have scissors on this. I wear mine with the pocket clip clipped directly on to the waste band on my trousers on my left hip, therfore the extra weight makes no difference. Worn like this it remains securely clipped and does not cause any issues eg when sitting down or driving etc. The 9mm screwdriver and thicker Phillips win it for me. I find i can frequently carry out basic maintenance tasks without a trip to my truck and the tools being sturdy are able to directly perform as good as quality dedicated ones like a wera phillips or knipex pliers. I can easily do things like wiring a plug, changing crimp terminals, pulling auto fuses changing door handles or locks or tigtening or losening jublie clips, removing control pannel covers, opening plastic water meter/ stop tap covers. Etc. I work with machinery and plant so i do give mine regular intensive use although i dont abuse it eg trying to cut barbed wire. I really like the serated blade so prefer to carry an additional pioneer x or compact alongside to give me scissors. A side chisel blade on the swiss tool like on the spirit would be good although i use the awl blade for horizontal scrapeing tasks.
Love my Swiss Tool. I didn’t carry it much until Leatherman decided to rip off Tale of Knives’ sheath design which made me so angry that I put away all of my Leatherman tools and broke out the Swiss Tool. The Swiss Tool is so much more well made than any multitool I have ever owned. The build quality, fit and finish, smoothness of tool and plier deployment, and ergonomics are better than any multitool I own. Makes me sad that I didn’t carry it more often. Now I’m thanking Leatherman for becoming a clone trash company because my best tool (though I didn’t know it was the best at the time) was just sitting on a shelf unused
great comparison ! i would like to see a scaled down to Swisstool, 6-7cm long. sadly the X is shorter but wider, like a Gerber Suspension ( a crappy tool with soft steel i just bought). the only thing i didnt like in my Swisstool was the woodsaw, usefull only for dry wood. thats why i gave it away and bought for the 2nd time a Surge. replaceable tshanks. all default woodsaws are not good for my needs. i am aware that the woodsaw in a 6-7 cm victorinox would be useless too, no matter how the teeth are configurated. so for now im stuck with Surge (and i kinda love it).
Thanks for another great comparison video, Jon. I have a Victorinox CyberTool 34 Swiss Army Knife for years which has been extremely handy, and now looking at them all I'm trying to choose the best pliers-based multitool. Bought a Leatherman Micra recently for the car keychain & now looking for a larger type as well. Still trying to decide whether to get a Leatherman Wave+ or a Vic multitool. Looking for maximum functionality and portability at the same time. That rules out tools like the Surge - just way too heavy to be portable for me. With the Wave+, my understanding is that you can get a Leatherman Ratchet driver and bit set to fit in the same pouch alongside the Wave+ multitool, which is great. From what I read, with the Vic multitools, the quality of the build and finish is better, and that draws me to the Spirit X. Can I ask you, with the Spirit X is there room in the pouch for the Victorinox Ratchet & bit set to fit in alongside the multitool itself? And as a complete set of multitool with bit set, all self- contained in 1 pouch, which would be your choice - Wave + or Spirit X? Best, James
One of the two main springs of my Spirit popped out a lot . Despite repeated attempts to place it back, it still came out . Finally it broke. After being sent to be repaired, it STILL popped out. It's a designed flaw, I'll stick with the X which doesn't seem to have the same problem
Excellent review. I have a Swiss tool Rs but my edc is a Leatherman charge tti with a Victorinox explorer with the plus scales in a point and shoot camera bag witch fits perfect. Greetings from 🇺🇾
Hello! Another great video - I concur with your comments on both tools...this video is excellent for everyone to watch, especially folks who need help deciding which tool is best for them...I prefer the Swisstool X, although I like the Swisstool Spirit XC because of the "butter" blade and chisel tool which I think is better than the one on the X..it's unfortunate Victorinox is not making the XC anymore... what do you think of these tools in the "plus" and "plus ratchet" setup? too bulky? Would you use them? Thanks and good job!
Hi Edgar - thanks for the comment. I have the Vic ratchet tool but it starts to get a bit bulky - if I am going heavy duty I prefer the LM Surge option with the flat bits and a ratchet driver. For general use, and lighter weight travel, the Victorinox Spirit is my choice though.
I always have the Victorinox Manager on my keyring, so I went for a multitool to complement so it didn't need scissors or small screwdriver, I went for a SOG Paratool which gave the pliers and saw and larger screwdrivers. It's never the situation I'm without my keyring so I only need to add another tool for what you said, heading out into situations I may need a tool. So good comparisons but I'd like to see a discussion on tools to complement an EDC. Fully agree with your conclusion that a smaller tool is more often carried so used more.
@@JonGadget I think the Victorinox Ranger is the SAK packed with all their best tools while still being relatively carry-friendly. And that could be paired well with a Skeletool. Either the CX, or maybe the RX for the fully serrated blade. I don't own either of the Skeletools, but been thinking about 'em. (Apparently the red coating on the RX wears right off, which I know would bug me!)
@@Pinki2019 The most common lacking tool my Manager doesn't provide are pliers, followed by larger screwdrivers. The bigger tools don't have a good small screwdriver, so there is no single perfect tool, if you try to get one it is becomes so huge you usually don't have it with you. Hence two tools with non-overlapping tool sets, one small one which covers most needs and something else bigger for the rarer needs, is what I often keep coming back to. I recently bought the Explorer as I find I'm needing for example the magnifying glass, but it overlaps, duplicates many of the Manager's tools like duplicates scissors, small blade, etc, but doesn't have pliers so I find I'm either grabbing my Swiss Champ which has things like the saw or pliers the Explorer doesn't have, or the SOG Paratool as it adds the least weight and bulk for the added tools.
Great video. Agree with everything you say. The Spirit X is so beautiful that I find myself being scared to use it in case it gets scratched! Don't know if this is positive or negative. I find myself just being a bit careful with it, which kind of defeats the purpose of a tool. Should I just go for it or put it in a drawer to admire occasionally?
Most Excellent Video as a DAV w/messed up hand rely on a M/tool alot 4 various everyday uses. Had aSwiss Tool earlyb issue. Thank god no one in my country (Brazil) had the idea of prohibiting the carrying of a blade just because it can be locked. Here the limitation is the size of the blade. *Sorry for my Google English.
I have the original SwissTool, the one with the red background and white lettering on one side, and I am sure I got it more than 24 years ago, I think it was in 1996, for $135 CAD, from a knife store in the Champlain Mall in Dieppe NB, Canada. Contrary to what you mentioned, mine has the serrated blade AND scissors, alas no file. Otherwise it is as you describe. Do you know what the the "shape" in the plier-closure spring is for? Look at the tool from the closed position and on each of the springs that tension the plier head closed there are odd-shaped cutouts, I have always been curious why these are there. Excellent video, thanks for sharing. Hello from New Brunswick, Canada.
Thanks a lot for your sharing. Now that the Spirit MXBS is widely trade, one hand opening main blades, what do you think about it and the fact they remove the saw and keep the file with the serrated blade? A clip is always missing but exit as an accessory, but does this fit to the spirit like on the swisstool. Ones more, thanks a lot for the professionalism of your vidéos, I love!
Good video. I've been looking for a multitool w/ good scissors. I was hoping it would be a VSAK, but it's looking like your video on Leathermans convinced me I should consider the Micra. Tell me if I'm wrong? The criteria I tried comparing against for the scissors are: cut as well as the VSAK Scissors do; don't rely on that flimsy spring mechanism like on the VSAK: A RangerGrip 71 Gardener had the type of scissors I like. Consider the Micra because it seems to have great reviews for its scissors. What are your thoughts?
Hi Jon, really enjoying your channel! I've come across the existence of the knifeless leatherman rebar, I am considering it for uk edc and I was wondering if you could have a look and do a review on it if you haven't come across it before, cheers!
@@Legacyeleven I prefer the Knifeless Rebar - even though it costs more and you already have scissors on the Pioneer X - the locking tools are safer in use and it is built better in my view - you also get the saw and replaceable wire cutters. If cash is super-tight the Bond coupled with the Pioneer X is not a bad option. Hope that helps.
not much you can ask more, still the best, it misses a more exciting design, deep clip on and a really good diamond file for my taste, the Tool X does, otherwise you can't ask for better quality.
HI.. to all EDC GROUP.. I like all the EDC Tool.. and alwiz use it for my work... all the brand i like... but in my opinion the price victorinox and leatherman multitool in malaysia are very expensive and crazy... better buy from china multitool coz i can easy buy it a 3 or 4 times if the multitool broken... the price its ok and reasonable...
I have both, don’t find the spirit that great for pocket carry as it’s still too heavy IMO (and the tools clump on one side) so I think I would just belt carry the Swiss Tool and accept the extra weight and benefit from superior scissors etc, etc. great video, great channel 👍🏻🇬🇧
Hope you’re having a great Christmas 🎄. Question, which multi tool uses the superior main blade steel , the leatherman wave or the victorinox spirit? . I know the leatherman charge tti use’s a good main blade steel but I just wondered what the wave has , and which is better, victorinox or leatherman wave steel. I love victorinox but the leatherman tti would be my choice, the high quality steel main blade, but change functionality
a little bit beefier, a little bit better made trumps the size advantage of the Spirit. So i'd always go for the better quality product which is the original
Is the plier pivot loose with too much wobble of the jaws? This is the issue I had with my Swisstool and was a deal breaker and sold it. I believe this problem is chronic to all Swisstools. The probably cause is overpolishing of the pivot.
I live in the U.S. and retired. I enjoy working on my old car and doing handy work around the house. I’m having a hard time deciding on a multi tool. Every time I turn around another one pops up. It’s not something I would walk around with in my pocket everyday but may throw in a day pack or sling depending where I maybe going. Do you have some ideas what I may purchase that won’t break the bank so to speak?
Excellent review as always! 🙂 I would go for either if they made one with one hand opening blade. There is a model (MXBS I think) that I saw in a review, but when I searched I came across an info on a forum that its made for Australian military but they are planning to launch a variant publicly in Q3 2021. Do you have any info about that?
I've seen it and TX Toolcrib has reviewed it I believe (check out his channel) but never owned one - not currently available in Europe. Some Countries ban single hand opening blades (Germany being one I believe).
Why would you need a tool like this when hiking? You do not tend to carry on your person so comfort on belt / pocket doesn't tend to matter so it's just weight in a pack, and there's lighter than these for hiking type contexts. When hiking I tend to carry a dedicated folding locking long blade + a small SAK, because if hiking my blade is cutting meat (cooking, sandwiches) and food gets into the hinge on multitools. Add a titanium spork and you're sorted.
I feel like if the Victorinox could access its knife from the outside w one hand and had the same T shank adapter that the Surge has then it'd reign supreme. But alas, it doesn't!
What about which one of the knives keeps an edge better I have always used victorinox butchers knives and I can say they are brilliant the other multitool I have never used so I personally don't know

Great feedback - as you know if you have seen my other videos I agree with all you points - Surge is a great heavy duty option
@@folksurvival the swisstool is noticably lighter than the surge and with the pocket clip very handy.
Great review. I'll just add that a thinner kerf on a saw can also mean faster cuts
Excellent comparison. I did find your comment about the Wave as more industrial was spot on. Having carried both the Swisstool X and Spirit X I usually carry the SpiritX unless I’m carrying a Leatherman.
Thanks Dale
Jon, please consider narrating audiobooks, your explanations and their delivery are exceptional 👍🏽
Thank you for your video, it really helped me choose.
For my use, the Spirit X (and may be a rachet and bit option)
For info, there is a M version of both swisstools for an easy single hand blade opening.
My favourite trans knife channel 😍
Good channel....my birthdays coming up heh heh
great feedback - thanks for sharing and have a great birthday....
Thanks for the feedback - much appreciated
Excellent video and great comparison of both multi tools. I own Swiss Tool X, and yes it is big, heavy piece of metal but the weight doesn't matter for me i love it! :D
Both are on my radar to become part of the collection.
Own swisstool since 2007. The main repair tool.
I am always stating to my husband any multi tool I want has to have scissors. I use them so much and I really have to admit the spirit x does look so good to me too . 👍
It's a good one!
Thank you for the great feedback - really good to hear your views.
I am going to try a Swiss multi tool for the first time, this video was very helpful in making my choice. Thanks! I have almost all of the Leatherman multis, which I love and use daily. I have tried a bunch of Gerbers as well, but I just don't like them. We'll see how the Swiss do!
Excellent - I am sure you will like it
This was one of those reviews that I was really looking forward to. Your reviews are very clear and to the point. Thanks for doing it👍🏻
Thank you for the feedback - great to hear
A work of art no doubt. I have the older swisstool, the larger model with the saw and the extra serrated blade. It's my second one as I I unintentionally left my first one behind in a hurried cross country move. I would like to get a Spirit someday
Good to hear Steve.
The spirit is great, I carry it every day and use it all the time. Now I want one with a clip and one-handed opening...
me too! still out of stock!
yes, spirit is a nice to eye's and hands. Bravo Victorinox. Thank you Jon
I love my Spirit. It’s perfect for my needs.
Very detailed comparison sir. Hope you'll have more videos like this!
Victorinox is my favorite 100%.
Thank you for the video Jon, i was looking forward to it! Ah i fell in love with both of them after this presentation it will be a hard choice :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
That style tool holster has been around forever and long before Tale of Knives offered one. People get offended by the silliest crap.
Big like for your video 👍
I personally choose the original Swisstool. Subscribed because of your very accurate presentation!
Thank you and welcome to the channel - apologies for the slow response!
great comparison !
i would like to see a scaled down to Swisstool, 6-7cm long. sadly the X is shorter but wider, like a Gerber Suspension ( a crappy tool with soft steel i just bought). the only thing i didnt like in my Swisstool was the woodsaw, usefull only for dry wood. thats why i gave it away and bought for the 2nd time a Surge. replaceable tshanks. all default woodsaws are not good for my needs. i am aware that the woodsaw in a 6-7 cm victorinox would be useless too, no matter how the teeth are configurated. so for now im stuck with Surge (and i kinda love it).
The Surge is great.
Yes! Victorinox scissors showdown! Thank you Santa and thank you Jon! 👍🏻👍🏻😂
Thank you DM 😊
Perfect presentation As usual as you usually do
Thanks David
Best,
James
Fantastics multi tools!! I choose the spirit!!!!
Cheers from West Virginia! Love your videos
Thank you - hello West Virginia - I know a song about that!
Beautiful review Sir. Got an Explorer snd a mini champ alox for Xmas.
Thank you - great options 👍
One of the two main springs of my Spirit popped out a lot . Despite repeated attempts to place it back, it still came out . Finally it broke. After being sent to be repaired, it STILL popped out. It's a designed flaw, I'll stick with the X which doesn't seem to have the same problem
Excellent review. I have a Swiss tool Rs but my edc is a Leatherman charge tti with a Victorinox explorer with the plus scales in a point and shoot camera bag witch fits perfect. Greetings from 🇺🇾
Great options there Juan
@@JonGadget Good info...thanks!
Thanks Nigel - agree would be good to look at complementary carries...
I carry the Manager, too. It's great. And that Phillips on there is my most-used screwdriver.
@@Pinki2019 The Ranger is a great option - could be worth a separate review...
The MXBS with it’s one handed blades is among my favorite multitools I own. Which is saying something given I have like 200 of them
They are hard to find (in UK at least) - great feedback
@@JonGadget I’m in the states and had to get mine from Singapore, if I recall correctly
I’ve been looking for a video comparing these two multitools 🙂👍🏻
Love the videos fella and the levity between you and your mate.
Always a fan keep them coming
Great video. Agree with everything you say. The Spirit X is so beautiful that I find myself being scared to use it in case it gets scratched! Don't know if this is positive or negative. I find myself just being a bit careful with it, which kind of defeats the purpose of a tool. Should I just go for it or put it in a drawer to admire occasionally?
Use it.
Very well made review. Thank you, helped me a lot.
Excellent. Ty Sir. You certainly helped me make a choice.
A great video and a lot of Knowledge....A huge 👍 from Greece.
Have you seen the news about the pocket clip? I think it's the greatest step in multitools recently.
yes - I'm trying to get one but seems in short supply - this is just what the Spirit needed
Most Excellent Video as a DAV w/messed up hand rely on a M/tool alot 4 various everyday uses. Had aSwiss Tool earlyb issue. Kindly loaned my car out & told friend ?? 2 hand lock doors not use auto lock. Of course He didn't & lost a gun & my M/tool also. Know keep my cheapo M/tool on my belt always now. & LoL don't loan my car out ither !! Saving up 4 a used Vic/Mtool (on call list 4 used one @ 3 pawn shops) waiting 1.5 yrs now & none ever given up yet !
I wish the swiss tool didn’t have the handle alignment issues! Thanks for the video
Own both, like the spirit best ,)
and awesome!!! another video!
thank you
I have both. Spirit much better size for EDC and feels better made. Swiss tool heavy and tools harder to pick out.
thanks for sharing Anthony
Swiss Tool is almost perfect. Needle Nose pliers would be great.
Thanks for the feedback. The shape is for a corkscrew that can be purchased as an option (if I am right is what I think you mean)
Hi, did u figure out the angle grind of the Swiss Tool X? Thank u v much
Thanks a lot for your sharing.
Thanks for the feedback - as you might know Vic have now introduced a clip for the Spirit and I see single handed opening blade is back
Thanks, it is what I was need.
Posso afirmar que essas 2 versões do vitorinox são espetaculares.. tenho um leatherman wave.. já está cheio de folgas ..
Yes, I am aware of it and would agree it is a great option for UK legal carry.
Thanks Jon. Of the 2 would you prefer the knifeless rebar or the Bond for edc? (I also carry a pioneer x)
Thanks Jon that's much appreciated!
not much you can ask more, still the best, it misses a more exciting design, deep clip on and a really good diamond file for my taste, the Tool X does, otherwise you can't ask for better quality.
HI.. to all EDC GROUP..
I have both, don’t find the spirit that great for pocket carry as it’s still too heavy IMO (and the tools clump on one side) so I think I would just belt carry the Swiss Tool and accept the extra weight and benefit from superior scissors etc, etc. great video, great channel 👍🏻🇬🇧
thanks for the feedback Jon O and kind comments
Hope you’re having a great Christmas 🎄. Question, which multi tool uses the superior main blade steel , the leatherman wave or the victorinox spirit? . I know the leatherman charge tti use’s a good main blade steel but I just wondered what the wave has , and which is better, victorinox or leatherman wave steel. I love victorinox but the leatherman tti would be my choice, the high quality steel main blade, but change functionality
As far as I know Vic do not share their exact steel chemistry but I think they are similar - LM poss slightly harder but not much - LM is 420HC
I have both😎
Wonderful video. Spirit X VS Rebar....please
I prefer the swisstool. Bigger is better.
😅top notch review, splendid!
a little bit beefier, a little bit better made trumps the size advantage of the Spirit.
Yes, there seems to be a spirit with one hand opening blades
@@pjgppjgp I know there is one, but is it publicly available :) ?
@@MrGatya2 from what I’ve seen people have gotten it from Singapore
I've seen it and TX Toolcrib has reviewed it I believe (check out his channel) but never owned one - not currently available in Europe. Some Countries ban single hand opening blades (Germany being one I believe).
Any Swiss Man would be proud to show off his tool whatever the size...
I'm sure that is true!!
Which one is more comfortable for hiking ?
Lighter is better for me when hiking
Why would you need a tool like this when hiking? You do not tend to carry on your person so comfort on belt / pocket doesn't tend to matter so it's just weight in a pack, and there's lighter than these for hiking type contexts. When hiking I tend to carry a dedicated folding locking long blade + a small SAK, because if hiking my blade is cutting meat (cooking, sandwiches) and food gets into the hinge on multitools. Add a titanium spork and you're sorted.
Very much obliged Sir only looking for a side clip
Super porównanie.
Pozdrawiam z Polski.
Thank you and greetings Poland
I feel like if the Victorinox could access its knife from the outside w one hand and had the same T shank adapter that the Surge has then it'd reign supreme. But alas, it doesn't!
Very cool! I’m wondering.. how does the spirit X compare to the older Leathermans? Say, PST II? That one also has decent scissors
The PST II is very hard to beat for combined size and weight and function - the Spirit X is more capable though
