    This is almost too much eye-popping 1960s for comfort. If Catwoman had done a scene with Mark Lindsay, your TV might have exploded. RIP Paul, thanks for the music.

    @girlgarde The one on the left (behind the Penguin part of the time) is Teri Garr. She occasionally played "go go girls" on SHINDIG and other shows at this stage of her career.

    Thanks for posting. In this stay at home Covid time, I’ve been searching for my favorites. This is the first time I’ve seen the Batman clip, but I knew it was out there somewhere.

    Real cool that Paul Revere & The Raiders appears in this Batman episode. I was just reading the comments and I noticed that jazzbo89 referred to you as Fang's dad. So are you Fang's son? If so, I have to say that your dad was a great bass player and funny guy, a perfect fit for Paul Revere & The Raiders. He also has a great voice. I just recently watch a new video called "Get It On", from "Midnight Ride", which Fang co-wrote with Drake.

    I love Paul Revere & the Raiders! I'm jealous of my Dad and Aunt that they got to see them live- and live through the greatest musical period in history! Not gonna lie so much of the music today sucks.

      No your darn , dam , rootin , tootin , right on! 2 days music is a stupid joke . There're some good tunes cause every generation has at least on. This generated wanna be's ain't got it like back then when evan when most of the girls were pretty. It's no fault of todays generation , because they can 't control when to be born.

      Rember seeing Mark Lindsay when I was 8 years old on American Bandstand in early 1966 with either "Kicks" or "Hungry" ! Also, The Vogues "Five O'Clock World " was a big hit about a month later 2/66; actually that tune came out late Summer 65.
      Also, Petula Clarks "Downtown" , and The Beattles "Paper Back Writer" , and sooooouch more!

    Brian, to this day I still sometimes twist the channel knob to one speaker just to listen to some of your Dad's bass lines from the old days. He rocks. I've got an old album autographed by him, Drake, Smitty, Mark and Paul. Thanks for sharing this video.

    The Monkees(when they played their own instruments), Tommy James and the Shondells and these guys. They were the real boy bands, if you must call them that.
    Burgess Meredith, before becoming known in popular culture as the Penguin, was in a lot of great flicks and would be after this. The "Grumpy Old Men" movies were a great final bow.

    About the Joker's example, that's because he deceived her into aiding him. Eventually, she came to her senses and turned against him. Still, she was eccentric in the first place......
    It is strange though that the Penguin was never convicted of anything. He must have a good lawyer or is skilled at legal matters himself to slip out of going to jail for any meaningful length of time.

    Now who are the 2 morons who hit "dislike"? Dude, what's not to like about Batman and Paul Revere & The Raiders? The '60's were when TV and Music were king.

  • @MrJamesrnolan

    This reminds me of the Firesign Theatre joke where one drunk asks another "So who're ya gonna vote for in the election?" and the other drunk replies "Anybody that's blackberry flavored." You gotta admit, having the Raiders, the dancing gals and the candidate performing his campaign theme could only happen on '60s TV where unreality rules. And Burgess Meredith gives his scene a lot of gusto. (The guest actors had good times I hear : there's great stories about Vincent Price inciting food fights.)

  • @girlgarde
    @girlgarde 14 років тому +1

    @MRobert21
    About the Penguin's campaign, he DID go all out in the flash department but he should have stated what his stance on issues were. He lost because he failed to produce any substance to his campaign. Had he done so, he would have won it handily since he knew many of the political moves needed to win PLUS he pulled a series of clever stunts even if it didn't help in the end.

    Yeah, the bad guys have criminals like them backing them up. This time around though, he had law abiding citizens on his side which is what shocked me since they have to know what he's done in the past.
    Also, I don't recall anyone complaining about the current mayor but you're right about Batman's campaign sucking. While the issues are important, so is having charisma and getting the voters to believe that you'll do a good job.

    Since you've stated that Commisioners and police chiefs are nearly impossible to get rid of, it's clear that the Penguin was simply trying to rattle his opponents when he made those threats then.
    While I do agree with you that both parties are quite crooked, there ARE differences in their policies and they DO bash each other on a regular basis. It's basically choosing which party sucks less at any given time.....

    Yeah about 54 years young now!
    That's how I think you feel.
    But at least we lived through the best generation in music history?
    We have that going for us? My 16 year old daughter asked how I knew the lyrics of a song that was playing on the radio in the car today?
    I told her that was copied from a song from the 70s.
    Shocked she said (It was?)
    Damn copycats.
    Remember our era when we hated our parent's music?
    Now our kid's copy ours!

    I notice that a lot of people seem to like the red haired woman that was working for the Penguin. I'm glad to see that a lot of people share my sexual tastes in women..... She may be airheaded but she's hot as hell.
    As for the Penguin, his one main problem when running for mayor was that he never stated what sort of policies he'd put into place if he were mayor. He was basically all flash and style and no substance. Had he brought a bit of substance into it, he would have won......

    Alright, alright. Compared to real life politicians, the Penguin's mild in his crookedness.
    How about this then? In the universe where this series takes place where politicians and officials are honest like Batman said, it's shocking to see any respectable citizen support the Penguin given what he did in the past.

    On a side not, those three girls who sang fancy slogans about the Penguin are good looking and cheerful. especially the redhead. If I was single and one of the Penguin's supporters there, I'd consider asking her out on a date.... heh
    Too bad that they're on the side of a career criminal..... -_-

  • @girlgarde
    @girlgarde 14 років тому

    @MRobert21
    Well hey, I never said that Democrats were above corruption, I'm merely saying that I'm iffy about Republicans because I don't agree with their political beliefs is all.
    Also, the Penguin called up Commisioner Gordon and threatened to replace him and Chief O Hara with the Riddler and the Joker respectively if he won. That's part of why I was antsy about the Penguin winning but now that you mention it, the Penguin may not be able to do that on a whim like he said he'd do.
