How lovely to listen to your Mum and her reminiscences. I wish my memory was as good as her's! You have so many goodies in this episode, I'll need to watch again and make notes lol! I'm definitely going to have a go at the Indigo dress pattern. What an inspiration you are 😊

What a beautiful quilt and I absolutely loved hearing your mum tell her story. How far we have come with housing and health care 😊

My granddaughter has been round today with her new baby Tommy and she has a bottle with a temperature gauge in it! How mum would have loved a washing machine and a fridge never mind all the gadgets today. As you say we have come so far.

Just discover this lovely stop. Love your Mum. I was bathed in a large dish pan, no sink but an indoor cold water pump located on the counter. I also still have a ration book, unused, as my mum and grand had lost it. That was a tragedy. Growing up in the country and depending on the garden, milk from the cow and chickens for eggs and Sunday dinner. Your mum has rekindled many memories.

How lovely to hear from you Susan, and so happy to have rekindled many happy memories for you. The cold water pump sounds a bit drastic. Take care

I love your quilts, the one on the last episode and this one!! I've never quilted, but enjoy seeing them. I love Pete's cross stitch!! He did a beautiful job with it. Cross stitch was my first crafty love. I did it for at least 30 years until I switched to knitting and crocheting. I love hearing your mum's story! I live in America, so really enjoy seeing the scenery there.

I have the exact cross-stitch Pete did! What are the chances of that?! I've framed mine though. Absolutely love your quilt. Wonderful seeing Eva and hearing about life in 1949. ❤️

i had to look up broadstairs on google earth - thinking you were near dover b/c of those white cliffs... beauteous handmade dresses! looks like you bought them both! and wowie! - that needlepoint your husband made - just lovely. i'd think he would do that all the time - it looks to be quite the complicated pattern. nice quilt too - you hand quilt - do you also hand sew your pieces or use a machine? here in the high desert of utah, we have lots of corvids, esp. ravens. my best story is from a friend of mine you saw two ravens playing in the air above his house - one had a golf ball in his beak, and would fly up and drop it, and the other would catch it, then fly on top of the first raven, and repeat the game! not long after he told me that story, i was hiking in Arches, our national park here in town - i was way out in the backcountry, and found a golf ball, and knew exactly how it got there! the beach! and the flat English Channel in summer - do you guys swim? i love watching the boats too - that is some fine camera you have - cheers!

Hi Elizabeth, All my quilts were hand pieced and quilted, but just lately have to look after my hands and my last quilt was done on the machine and I'm taking it to a long arm quilter. No, we don't swim, used to when we were young but the water for me is too cold! Fascinating story about the ravens. I would love to have a national park nearby.
