As a dramatic classic, I will say, working backwards was what confirmed I was a classic. I am clearly not petite, not narrow, nor do I have too wide of a width or too tall........just......average. Average in everything. Everything just feels kind of balanced. I don't have a short torso, or a long torso. Nor do I have long or short limbs. Also, analyzing what clothes make me look the best helps too.
You know what's weird? I thought I was a soft natural (I think I look VERY weird with high waisted pants and a short top, so I assumed I had a short torso - also I am 5'5" and I have the same leg length as my husband who is 6'2") until today, when I finally came inside from the pool with my bathing suit on and took a picture with a camera across the room. I used the silhouette method for my body and found i am smack in the middle, leaning towards natural (DC?) - everything looks average from a VERY subjective look.
Thank you for another informative video! It took a little while for me to figure out DC for myself. A lot of it was resistance based on youtube/reddit stereotypes. But I'm 5'5 and it is the only one that makes sense for me, especially once I understood that I have balance with some vertical.
@@emmamartin4045 Thanks a lot for your input! I don't think I have to accomodate curve... It just, like a lot of us, I spent all my life not dressing for my body type ans trying to enhance what I don't have/hidding what I have... So sometimes, it's hard for me to be objective. But it seems like I don't have to accomodate curve...
@@lybo1581 If you do my have to accommodate curve, you can definitely rule out SD, SC, SG, SN, R and TR. It should make it easier. If you are moderate with just a tiny hint of sharp angles and vertical, then yeah, you’re a DC.
I actually thought I was a soft classic but I have been doubting it for a while. Like you said in this video, I just like classic clothes more I think. I will gather some photos and get your opinion on my type as soon as I have time.
It was thanks to You and Your videos that Kibbe finally made sense to me and that I was finally able to understand that I was a Dramatic Classic. I was so confused I thought I might be Soft Classic, Theatrical Romantic, Soft Gamine.... After finding your videos which clearly explain the more relevant focus on accommodations, I was able to understand that despite being 5'4, I was NOT petite, and that I did NOT have Kibbe curve, despite having shape in my lower body. My bustline is very straight. I am very balanced with slight elongation/lack of curve. I'm honestly so relieved and comfortable with my DC ID. It finally seems right. Thanks a lot for sharing such helpful and relevant information. ❤
I absolutely agree with your argumentation, I do think though, that it even may be the other way around as well. Because e.g. DCs can have a slightly muscular appearance, can have some straight and square shoulders, they may be mistaken for some sort of Natural ID. You already pointed out the reason for that: people not understanding the concept of width from Kibbe's point of view. And also because it is not always great to compare one person to another, as it is about how a person is balanced or mixed within themselves. One might have big eyes and full lips compared to another person, but that first example might still be a beautifully balanced Classic while the other could still be a beautifully soft and rounded Romantic. I mean, if one says a 185 cm tall man has large hands they often don't refer to his hands being large for his body, they often refer to his hands being large compared to those of other people they know. I feel understanding Kibbe's IDs can be harder than learning a new language... depending on who you listen to while trying to understand it. Now that I do understand the basic terms Kibbe uses, I have a way easier time to see these things in people. And I do feel like trying to guess anybody's Kibbe ID (also if you wanna figure out yours) it is easier if that person wears no make up and even tries to style their hair differently, because hair can REALLY throw off the entire vibe of a person.
I found that also being too narrow rules out Classic - a Dramatic Classic is moderate with a slightly larger overall silhouette, while a Soft Classic is moderate with a slightly compact silhouette, but they don't need to accommodate narrowness in the way pure Dramatics and most Gamines do.
@@stylebysophianicole Interesting! I wonder if it is the same kind of problem people run into when they mix up gaining weight with a curvy type. I remember a youtuber trying on plus size jeans ”for hourglass shape” when she was clearly not an hourglass. She just had a bigger bust and some extra pounds on her belly, (what would be referred to as an apple shape in the fruitsystem) with straight waist and hips -nothing wrong with that. A pretty girl. But it made me think how it is possible not to SEE that yourself. Do you often see people being mislead by the weightgain when they try to figure this out themselves…?
I just discovered you, and you are amazing! This is the best explanation about the Kibbe system. I'm looking forward to your future videos 😁 Thank you!
For me looking at celeb photos is really confusing. Jackie Kennedy and Naomi Watts, for example look to me like nothing but FN. So I just choose to believe that ay 168.5cm and a bit colder and more reserved as a person I would be a DC. That's that. The system is for me too difficult and incoherent so just choose your won :)
For my part, Classic was the last family i considered only after ruling the other ones out. When I started to look into it everything "clicked." I had been assuming Romantic was the likeliest category since I knew I lacked width or vertical but I seemed obviously too wide for the category (and then I felt bad about myself haha). Soft Classic was the answer. I only have slight curve, and my frame is def wider and longer than a Romantic! Something I love about Kibbe typing is that it takes what feels like flaws and mkes them features you are proud of. I like having balance and it no longer makes me feel like i'm ugly/ungainly/defective because other women have true hourglass figures.
Romantics are wide tho but in flesh not in bones like SOME (not all) classics/gamines/naturals and even if you see their bones, its like you can still see flesh roundness softness, really hard to explain Some classics/gamines/naturals are wide in flesh too but they aren't romantics because they have yang in other body parts or in their essences, thats why you shouldn't over analyze one body part and see the whole picture
My childhood years were a dead give away. Times Mum dressed me in yin VS middle school when i dressed in Yang, I learned that I'm clearly not yin leaning in anyway and i was so happy because the yin styles made me so pissed off. I now know I'm not a Hater especially with this whole "Anti not like other girls" or labeling girlies with diff vibes "pick me" Agenda going on. 😅 But Brilliant YOU ! finally cleared up my final battle with "Width". I was a swimmer in school and flat chested so my shoulders and arms were always pointed out by other kids (baby fat era ☺) so i felt all my life I had broad shoulders which made me hang onto FN for dear life. It didn't help that i hated corporate casual aesthetics. I thrifted a black dress to blend with the work force, its straight from my hips but nips in a bit at the waist with minimal black beading detail, it was a household hit. My mum actually cried and said that's the first time I've looked at peace, healthy and organised going to work. 😂 Personally i was comfortable but still in doubt cus aesthetics, so i tried FN loose layers in the same colours, i looked homeless but tall. I was enraged and found a DC/FN body outline on Pinterest and showed ppl (fashion Tailors) they all pointed to DC screaming "bitch your clothes fall exactly like these lines !". Now I'm at my acceptance stage 😇😌 but the colours i see on DC recs are my enemy so my warzone now is colour seasons another possible reason why I've struggled with foundation & hair colour for sooo long. The journey has been funny and interesting. Thank you so much for explaining missing pieces in detail 😘😘😘😘.
As long as Jackie Kennedy is typed a classic, Kibbe will remain unreliable IMO. She’s clearly being passed as a classic for her style and not her body type at all
I think you misunderstand the difference between and Image ID and a body type. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis is most definitely a Dramatic Classic. David Kibbe has not reassigned so that alone should tell you that she is a reliable example.
i think it is very difficult to identify yourself in kibbe. Everyone has prejudices about the different types. And often the image of their body is not objective, which is very logical.
