People tease me for looking too nice just to go to Target. My mood is always better when I look my best. When I look frumpy I feel frumpy.
Same here but I dress for me not for others
Yes! 100%!
I have no idea what Target is. But - you get more respect shopping if you go well dressed
Same. I will NEVER be seen in public wearing PJ pants.
Exactly. Was just saying this to my husband the other day. I like to look put together even if I am going to Walmart. I feel better and enjoy even the most mundane activity when I do and it's really no big deal as I am just as comfortable as I would be in pj's or sweats.
My mom always said “It’s better to be a little overdressed than being underdressed.” She was so right! I love looking nice, even if I am wearing something that’s casual.
Absolutely! That is my saying as well. It goes along with being dressed too warm rather than not warm enough!
I love this! I say this to my daughter too. She doesn’t care right now but I’m hoping it will stick with her 😀
❤❤🎉🎆🎆😍
I often have strangers ask me where I am going "all dressed up"!!
me too!!
I love this!! ❤️❤️❤️
Today, the cashier at Trader Joe's asked me if I work in fashion because I always look so put together and stylish. I was so blown away! I told her "I learned it on UA-cam." 😁
I dress nice to go to Trader Joe’s too!
I love this! What a nice compliment ❤️❤️
@@ANNAREID29 And thank YOU for your tips and great content!
I never go anywhere without dressing nice. I love my style and dress for myself. I definitely take pride in my look. No sweats or leggings except for the gym.
You’re absolutely right there’s NO excuse for looking frumpy
Well, I wouldn’t go that far. Poverty, illness, and not caring about how others perceive us are all valid reasons for looking “not stylish” to the fashion-focused among us. Even being clean may be a challenge for people who are unhoused or physically challenged. Let’s not start engaging in interpersonal criticism on the basis of alleged “frumpiness.”
@@MindiBWell said! Thank you from the unwillingly "frumpy" among us. I watch these videos in anticipation of my better life!
@@MK-hh1vo LOL! You are welcome. In recent years, I have become less concerned with what others think and more willing to nip out to run an errand in my sweatpants and t-shirt-frump city-because I just don’t always care enough to strive for chicness. I figure the general public will survive my appearance. For me (a long-time people pleaser like Ms. Charlotte), this newfound insouciance is a win! So I am hesitant to declare frumpiness is never excusable: For me, it is sometimes a genuinely positive choice.
My elderly mom dresses nice, does her hair and makeup for doctors appointments. Her aide asked her why she was doing that just to see the doctor. My mother said “people treat you how you look. You don’t have to look how you feel, if you’re unwell. As an older woman in society I want to
Make sure I’m not ignored but respected . “
@@annan.3283 A totally valid perspective-my mother did the same. As an older woman myself now, I don’t want to frighten the horses, but if someone treats me poorly because I’m not sufficiently prettied up I feel that says more about them than about me, and I will judge them accordingly. For what it’s worth, research suggests that women are often underdiagnosed because we do tend to put our best face forward at doctor’s appointments, thus sometimes hiding symptoms of illness that the doctors need to observe. Just a different take on the matter; I certainly support our mothers’ rights to their choices.
Dressing well with good intention is a self love and self respect!! ❤️🙏
Yes! More of this! ❤️❤️❤️
🎁🎆🎇🎈💝
When the pandemic happened and my employer had us working from home, I may not have worn the most stylish of clothing. However, I always did my hair and minimal make up. I found that if I were having a stressful day, and then looked in the mirror and saw a poor version of myself reflecting back, I it made the day worse somehow. That triggered me dressing for myself.
I can totally relate to this! ❤️❤️❤️
She's MIGHT just be the most
humble and heartwarming person to exist🩶💗💜
Im with you onbthe rant... people complain about their lives and lack of opportunities. However, they dont put effort into appearance. People judge, we all judge. We lose opportunities and gain opportunities by way of how we present ourselves. Its how the world works.
So true! If you can’t put effort in to how you present, what makes me thing you’ll put effort into other areas? ❤️❤️
As Tom Ford said, dressing well is a form of good manner and i absolutely agree. I always dress with intention, I'm a university student (40 yo one but still) and I'm not always chic, but my makeup is always done, my hair too. I have way more confidence this way.
Agreed!! I used to think dressing well was for show, but honestly it’s showing how you see yourself. You deserve the best treatment! ❤️❤️❤️
I watch /listen to many different fashion videos for ideas and I must say your videos are not only helpful but also entertaining!! So funny! Love watching and sometimes just listening because you seem to have more depth than most others who do similar videos. Keep it up!
Well thank you! I’m so glad you’re here! ❤️❤️❤️
Love the side-by-side comparisons of the same dress with different accessories. Really makes the point.
❤️❤️❤️
My grandmother was an average looking woman who took care of herself, and always looked chic. Her motto to ALL the granddaughters was, “there are no unattractive women, only lazy ones” since it’s simply a bit of effort to look pulled together. I’m 69 now, and have lived successfully by that rule.
That part about having to have a skinny day to look cute is soooo true😭😭 thank God I'm losing weight and clothes are fitting better.
🎉🎉 Congrats to you! 💖
Good for you for losing weight!! I recently discovered I am gluten intolerant. After abandoning gluten, the bloating has disappeared and suddenly my clothes are fitting again!!!
Good for you! Amazing! And yes… I am so done with having a closet full of clothes that only look good when I’m having a “skinny” day lol
You're absolutely right. I grew up in a city (Montreal) where everyone dressed (probably still does) nicely to step out for groceries. It's a self-esteem boost to know you look put together.
When I was young, my mom , grandma, always wore their very best when going out in public. I'm 67 , I follow that
I love that! My Mom does too, and I used to be like "mom you don't need lipstick to go to the post office" but now I get it 🤣❤️
I loved your comment that stylish women dress to please themselves first!
I would never skip over any part of your videos! You are much too fun to watch and always offer super good scoop on fashion ideas/brands and life in general...truly enjoyable.
I work from home, so I try to get "dressed" every day because it puts me in the mindset to work. I don't go overboard, because in between projects, I'm doing housework, so my daily wardrobe needs to look cute but still be practical. I also need to invest a little more in accessories, especially for summer in Orlando. I need to jazz up the tanks and shorts, and to also keep in mind that accessories always fit!😆
And I will say the one thing I hate that I "save" for special times is white jeans. I cannot get over the feeling that I'm going to ruin them every time I wear them. Anna, it was either you or Erin Busbee (maybe both?) who said, "let the stains on the white jeans happen, that's just part of their story!" I'm working on it!
Good for you!!! Yes, it's tempting to leave the jammies on if you're working from home. And you are dressing up for you!!!
I love this! Love that you get dressed for work even if it’s from home. And yes.. wear those white jeans! It will be ok! ❤️❤️❤️
This is a really well curated video! I loved seeing all the pictures that further got your point across. I learned a lot and I feel inspired to shop my own closet to make more outfits! Thanks again for all your hard work! 😊
So glad you liked this one! ❤️❤️❤️
Always look fwd to Sunday morning coffee w/your videos. I just purged my closet and feel a lot lighter. This video motivates me to be more intentional in my purchases. Im also trying to visit thrift stores to search for clothing gems .
Amazing! Love this! I think you’re going to feel better having less / better clothes for sure 🙌🙌
Excellent video! I like dressing up. I will apply all of these tips
Glad you like this one! ❤️❤️❤️
Spot on Anna. I "dress" every day. I am retired so I have more time to pick out my outfits. Sundresses now since it is so hot, whether I am staying home or out for the day. Unless cleaning, I put an outfit on that I could leave the house in and not be embarrassed. I definitely walk a little taller when I dress well :)
Building a wardrobe and wearing clothes we love is a form of creative thought and self-expression. i agree that finding pieces you love don't have to be expensive and can be mixed and matched with those that are. Fashion is fun! 🙂
Now that I’ve built my wardrobe, I get to buy the accessories now! How fun. Thank you Anna. Absolutely love your channel
I love when clothes have a cotton lining because I live in south Florida, polyester is way too hot. You look beautiful in everything Anna. 🌸
Friends and family are always giving me a hard time about dressing well and wearing makeup everyday...even when I just plan to mow the yard! Even my 5 year old granddaughter asked me why I was wearing "good clothes" if I was just mowing the yard! LOL. They weren't "good" but they were not trash. One time a male friend of ours said to his wife, as I walked out the door in green coveralls to go to work at our service station..."Look at her! She even manages to make coveralls look good". (Not my personal beauty, just my confidence in owning what I'm wearing).
Unless you’re wearing a ball gown to the grocery store, IGNORE them. Do what makes you feel good! 💗
I love this! Your grand daughter will always remember you looking nice no matter what and she will eventually do the same ❤️❤️
Great tips, Anna! I used to only feel like shopping on “skinnier” days. And I’d always hit the sale racks first. Talk about not valuing myself. Now I look for things I love, with a little extra room in the waist and bust where I tend to expand first. And the sale rack is my last stop. If nobody else wants it, why should I settle? I always have something to wear. If it’s not quite my first choice, that’s the signal to cut back on the food treats! Have a fabulous week!
Love this, Sheila! That's such an interesting way to view it as well - you deserve to have clothes that fit and make you feel beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
I love your videos ,You're so inspiring, keep up all the amazing work you're doing💜🩷🤍
I loved the rant! Thank you for putting yourself out there. 💕
Love this video with all the pictures (love the cat too-gave me a good chuckle😂). I also loved your “rant”😂. I live in a fairly small town of Texas where we have now a few clothing stores. I am retired and mostly on our property so when I go to run errands I really enjoy getting dressed up (was one of the best parts of my job😊). Sometimes my husband comes home for lunch and I’m all dressed up -jewelry and all-he ask where am I going, I reply “Walmart”😂😂😂😂. One time I was at the grocery store and a gentleman gave me a compliment for my outfit (most people wear jeans and tshirt). And when I DO see a woman that put in effort for an outfit…I definitely give her a compliment❤❤❤ (that was my little rant😂). Love your videos and thank you for all your hard work😘!
I absolutely love this! Especially that you give other women love when they look good! 🙌🙌
Everything you said is so true especially the mental effect dressing well has on us! 👏🏼
I'm drinking a shot every time you say elevated .....keep it going lol
😂
Hahah!!! I take no responsibility for how intoxicated you get 🤣🤣🤣
I actually love getting ready and putting make up on and finding something to wear that is not sloppy. I like putting on some jewelry too. I do it for me because I feel better when I look nice. I do see people who go to the store in I guess whatever they slept in. If that makes them feel good that’s ok, but don’t ask us ladies who are still trying why we bother. You look gorgeous in every outfit. Thanks Anna ❤❤❤❤
One of my favorite videos of yours! Thank you
I always dress nicely no matter what I do.
I only buy things I love and that go with the rest of my wardrobe. I buy a lot of my clothes at the Gap or Old Navy. I update with shoes. Right now,it is all about the ballet flats. In Fall, it was all about the loafers. You get the point.
Loved this video… I love getting dressed nice mostly every day even being retired…I actually do try on clothes before events and have named it my Practice Wears…I must say it has taken the stress out of getting dressed and consider myself a person who loves to find pieces that are alittle different and make a statement…that’s a reason love these videos on UA-cam
Lawd, love all those dresses on you, when I was younger I used to be able to wear those style top/dress, Love your videos, TY for posting them!
I agree just a little time yourself a little nicer even if it’s just for around the house you feel better about you. Great video this helps so much .your advice is so on point, just to bring things home. Thanks for sharing.
Happy upcoming Fourth, Anna, to you and your sweet family❤❤❤
Thank you, Cathy! ❤️❤️❤️
Loved the rant…..😉 I agree with you.
🌸great video! Absolutely true what are we saving our favourite pieces for? We spent our time and money choosing these favourites…rock your world wearing them!💥
And the same applies to good tablecloths, dishes, bed linen, bath towel etc. Get them out, enjoy them!!
Yes! How great would it be to have a day where you used the BEST you have of everything all at once 🙌😀
I’m always glad I took time to dress myself and look nice. I somehow always manage to run into someone I know, lol! Or, making a first impressions on someone else. Love your sense of humor and videos💕.
Anna, love the rant 😂 you look great in that lip color. I always look forward to your video’s. Thank you. Btw I am 71 years young and agree with all you said.
Thanks for a great video Anna! You´re so right. /Marie from Sweden
Thank you, I love your channel. Been watching you for two years now. Also a Florida girl!❤
Excellent video and advice. Your red lipstick looks great on you. The white outfit is nice!
Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
I also agree with your stance about the value of putting effort into how we look. Women are always being pitted against one another and especially on social media, life can seem like a competition. The article you mentioned made me think: instead of feeling lesser-than because another woman looks more polished, one might decide to declare that their own frumpy appearance is a reflection of how selfless, important, and practical they are. Therefore suggesting the woman who puts time and effort into her looks must be vain, bored, unfulfilled, and frivolous. In reality all of us are doing our best with our own challenges and could use a little support! I found this video to have exactly that non-judgmental, supportive tone we need more of. I’m subscribing now ❤
Great advice! I know I feel better just putting a nice pair of earrings on. My sister in law is one of those people that always look fabulous, she has a great sense of style. ❤
Thank you for another great video! Could you possibly do one focused on Fall/Winter 2024 Jewelry & Handbag trends?
Good job. You have choosen very beautiful poctures of combos and I love you New dresses and boho Look with the crochet top with the denim. Very beautiful and smart. Thank you🎉😊
Great advice, once again ❤
Thank you glad you enjoyed this! 🙌❤️❤️
Excellent. Too many good tips to mention.
Beautiful dresses... They also look great on you!!! 😊🎉🎉
Thank you, Kathleen! ❤️❤️❤️
Love the cat cameo lol so cute
lol glad you liked that 🤣
Great job thank you
15:28 ~ I was basically ostracize on an Instagram post of a gal who showed a pic of herself in sweatpants, messy bun and sunglasses stating that she'll look how she wants when going out and to keep your opinions to yourself. My reply was a nice, "I always try to look nice and presentable to the world as it makes me have a better day"
Her reply was: "This --> 😆" As if I said something which she considered so stupid. Anywhoo, I got bombarded with the "no one is going to tell me how to dress" etc. And I finally had to block the account. Cheez. Quite the polarizing topic!
Wow!!! When I hear this, I think, everyone is having their own journey through life. We all get to certain points at various times! But, if she’s posting that on IG I think you’re opening it up for debate 😀 (I agree with you lol)
Can't believe how many people fight for the right to look disheveled or behave badly.
great video!
Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
Oh how I wish my life required a cocktail attire🤞💄
You always look stylish and put together 🙂
Thank you, Elizabeth! ❤️❤️❤️
thanks for all the tips - the fringed dress looks great on you. I think the pandemic was rough on my style. I just kind of gave up. America has become a nation of very sloppy and careless dressing and I was falling into to some bad habits. I have been redoing my wardrobe for a year and your videos are so helpful.
Fantastic video and content Anna, I totally agree with your "rant". My fitted clothes are all comfortable because I am now a healthy weight (thanks to the advice of pcrm YT channel). All this leisurewear/athleisure is usually worn by overweight people who are the least likely to do anything athletic. Being dressed also stops you from overindulging at mealtimes. I never wear elasticated waists or too baggy clothes for this reason, it's too easy to overeat with "comfortable" clothes made of stretchy fabric. I think that in future there will be a reaction to sporty/too casual clothes and those who are better dressed will stand out for being chic and put-together, while the majority of sadly overweight people will have no choice but go on looking like slobs because if you are overweight (like I used to be for years) nothing feels comfortable, and you won't feel good mentally either, let alone positive and productive.
Well said! 👌🏽
Mixed feels on the rant. I'm currently experimenting with my style, and experiencing a range of different reactions from myself and others. The more effort I put into my clothes, the better I'm treated. BUT. That doesn't necessarily translate into self- confidence, as if if I feel overdone or not like myself, I feel awkward and inhibited even if others like it. Overdressed is just overdressed to me. Like I missed a social cue.
And when I'm at home, it's straight into my comfy uniform of v-neck black T and joggers/ leggings/ yoga pants. I feel most relaxed and productive when I am completely comfortable and do not need to be aware of my clothes at all. I loved working at home in these, and felt free and productive before I was dragged back to the office.
Still, I'm loving the upgrade in treatment, and am slowly getting more comfortable with being seen. So there's that.
Wonderful video, as per usual. TY, Anna!
Those Fabrique pieces look stunning! Too bad they don't ship internationally.
Thank you! 🙌❤️❤️
yeah the accessories and hair and makeup really make ypu more stylish even though you look dress simplu...❤❤❤
Good video!
Thank you, Jan! ❤️❤️
I had to have a massive clear out of my wardrobe a year ago due to health problems. Now before I buy something I ask can I wear this on days I feel like death warmed up and feel nice? Maybe no-one will see me, maybe I will look awful but I will feel better about myself. I really believe it makes a huge difference.
Thank you, your videos are always interesting and I enjoy watching every time! Your advice is great. For example, it took me some time until I started wearing my „2good“ clothes more often. Now, I feel much better when getting them on and having fun with them. It might get dirty? Why do I have a washing Maschine and a dryer 😁. One day I was just wearing a dark grey yoga bootcut trouserleggins with a nice white blouse and flat nude sandals, my husband said I look festively. See, ladies, it is worth it 🙂. Greetings from Klevendeich.
I looooooove this!!!! So much!
People who say that they rather “be comfortable” than look put together simply don’t feel their best mentally, there I said it! If you feel like shit you will look like shit. An outfit is a reflection of how you feel, is not always a fashion show but you can always look decent with a little bit of effort and guess what , it will boost your self esteem like you have no idea. Just do it!
Gorgeous, but more expensive than my budget allows.
❤️❤️❤️
It is amazing what you can find at thrift stores, Walmart and H&M.
@americafirst9144 and Zara. And Poshmark. I'm loving the Old Navy linen blend dresses this year, too. And I'm also a thrifter.
The only time you would see me frumpy and you won’t is because I’m too sick to care, where in that case I’m going nowhere and nobody will see me 😂. I’ve always enjoyed styling my clothes, though basically I wear a classic style like, jeans and blouse or pullover sweater, slacks and blouse, Linen pants and blouse or tshirt and dresses I love to accessorize with jewelry, hats and scarves.
You look so Beautiful in that shade of red lipstick 💄 can I please get the color!
Will you link your earrings? They are so pretty!
Sometimes you just want to run around quickly to shop, load groceries or get your hair, lashes/brows or nails done and it doesn't require a super glamorous outfit that could get dinged. Also, sometimes I just want bkend in, be low key & action oriented not draw attention to self. Do what works best for you!
How are you liking your STAUD bag? I purchased one a few weeks ago and I’m waiting for it. It’s the white and blue palm tree print. Those Tommy beaded purses are so pretty!
Ooooo I’m so excited for you! TBH it took me a couple trips out to get comfortable with it (not really sure why) but now I use it all the time and get soooo many compliments 😻😻
My mother used to tell me,"If you look good you will do good.
Very neccessary
@annareid Thank you! This video inspired me to shift my attire for working from home! And shift my views on dressing more up-scale for ME. I love your candor, & opinions about fashion. 🎉
I love this!!! You deserve to look beautiful every day, chica! ❤️❤️❤️
Excellent 👍💚video, the polka dots dress is best,,don’t look frumpy, look fabulous and stylish express yourself dress for you, know your style check yourself in the mirror before you step out in public. Thank you best wishes to all 💐
Fabrique is the new Lily silk in terms of marketing to influencers
I love your earrings. Where are they from?
ALWAYS dress like you have somewhere Better to Go to haha
People forget that fashion itself can be scientific. There was study by a university that coined the term enclothed cognition in the different type of white coats how it improved attention focus for the employees.
That is so interesting! I love reading about those kinds of studies they are fascinating ❤️
What designer was the black handbag you wore with the black and white polka dotted sundress please?
This one! bit.ly/4bu1AC1 I see they have some beautiful new colors too 😍
Seems like everywhere you look it's wide leg pants, if youre investing into a good pair of trousers, what do you buy?
How long will wide leg trousers stay stylish!
Anna, you look so beautiful with a red lip! Wish I could pull it off that well❤😊
You can! Find a counter and find the right red
You are pretty great!
Well thanks!! ❤️❤️❤️
Is it too difficult to have photos of stylish women without designer bags?? Come on, a lot of us cannot afford Celine, Loewe, and Bottega Veneta bags. Throw in some mid-range priced bags in these photos, please.
Where is the brown woven bag from that you are modeling with the dresses?
The best accessory to elevate all our looks is a toned body which I recognize now, as it is getting harder and harder to maintain a toned body 😂😂😢😢
Everything u said is so so true..., but the "she gets dressed even when she has no where to go " is the European Women Mantra. I live in Portugal and even togo to the Supermarket.... Ohhhh .....i have to be put together. No no no sweatpants & Tshirt ever. Ever. Ever if we wear t-shirt is with jeans .. if is the sweatpants a blaset is a must. Tennishoes yes of course ..but the handbag....oohhhh it must be at thevery least... leather
Haha I love this!! ❤️❤️❤️
@@ANNAREID29 😍
I am one of those women who picks out her clothes the night before when I know the next day I have to leave the house. From outfit to accessories and shoes. I don't like scrambling the last minute to do those things. I love the dresses. I always wore dresses and skirts until I was around 37. I still wear skirts for special events, church, funerals, ect. I love femineity. BTW, I loved the shine to your hair today. Did you use a product to get it to look that way? I find it hard as a blonde to get a good shine to my hair.
Thank you!! Honestly, I’m I switched back to normal, every day shampoo rather than the “clean” stuff and I feel like my hair is so much better! 😀🤣
@@ANNAREID29 Your hair did look very pretty!
I have a pair of really nice Banana republic white pants that I’ve never worn because I don’t want to risk looking like a band uniform. Can I just wear a nice black blouse with black heels or sandals with white pants! Thanks!
LOL I highly doubt you will look like a band uniform! Unless you carry a trumpet or something :) I think that outfit sounds gorgeous! ❤️❤️
❤
😍❤️❤️❤️❤️👍🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I don’t see the skirt on the fabric link. Can you link it for us? The one you wore to dinner
Here you go!
