This great project is wonderful. Marking a realistic project for G scale railway lovers. Thanks for sharing with us. Looking forward to seeing more from you. 😊😊😊
Thanks glad you enjoyed it, I haven't done much on the garden railway for a while but hopefully get it tidied up ready for running in the next few weeks, a few of the buildings need a bit of tlc, glad u like it and thanks again for watching
i had been thinking for years about putting a garden railway in but because i had a sloping garden it kept putting me of and with alot of time of work in the first lockdown and the nice weather i wondered what more could i do around the pond and that was that it kept me busy for a while and also gave the g scale trains something to run on as most of them had been stored for over 10 years, thanks for watching and glad you like the layout. Tom
Looks great, look forward to seeing it develop. I think there will be more garden railways after this lock down and nice weather they seem to have clicked a lot of peoples imagination. Lady driver as well. .Cheers Steve
cheers steve yes it was definitely fueled by seeing other people posting pics and vids of there garden railway and i can never really sit still in the house or garden and i had already done all my garden jobs that i could do and i new i had the basic materials in the shed and van to do it so i thought why not and my partner did encourage me to do it so thought it was only fair she ran the first train lol, thanks for watching, Tom
Really good video on how you constructed your G scale. Could I ask you where / how you connected up the power unit? Is this an outdoor socket or connected to a building somewhere. I'm just pondering over how to put this together. Many thanks. Rod.
Hi sorry for slow reply, ive just used an outdoor plug socket i kept tucked away next to the pond which also powers my pond filter and pump i just simply drilled a hole into the house, luckily i have a plug socket on the external wall next to the french doors so it was just a straight hole through the wall and then i just plug it straight into the mains with a trip switch plug, the controller i just bring out the shed when used am trying to get an aristocraft engineer working so i can fit the control unit in my pub building and i can walk around with the handset controller, ill try and include this in the latest update video on the railway, hope this is helpful, glad you like the video, thanks for watching. Tom
i wish my pond was as big as yours, and 0 gauge is really tempting with all the new locos available now theres never a better time to get into 0 gauge but i already have n,00, 009 and g scale so my partner would go mad if i started another scale now lol
@@northwesttrainsmodels and it's not like it's easy to hide a o gauge loco, but I do agree now is the best time to get into O gauge, I'm after a class 25 & 33 and a few others!
@north west trains models ..Cracking job I'm impressed with the speed you have progressed. I''m only rebuilding mine, and it has taken me three weeks!! As for a name, I don't know, but put a little station on it and call it COVID-19 halt. In 100 years archaeologist will wonder what the hell is going on !!!
good idea lol, the idea was i could do it with materials i already had and i had the track already so it wouldnt cost me much, so far its just cost me a tube of gravite paste all the timber, nails, screws was what i had in store or in my work van, even the pot of wood stain i found at the back of the shed i must of had for 10 years so am getting rid of clutter aswel as making something, its been pretty enjoyable so far, will you be uploading some videos of your garden railway
Hi Anthony, glad you like this layout its changed a bit since this video, I do get the occasional dead spot in the track, i usually give part of the track a rub with the track cleaning block then send a loco round a few laps with the track cleaning wagon before running trains if it hasn't been used for a while but in general its fine and easy to maintain, with it being outside its just general stuff like keeping plants trimmed back and occasionally topping up the ballast when it sinks a bit, thanks for watching. Tom
Looking good. I enjoyed seeing the construction of the track bed around the pond. Be careful with the speed controller. You don't want that lovely loco going for a swim....
Hi Paul thanks for watching and yes hopefully much slower, it was her first time using a controller so i let her of lol but i did say go reasonably fast to be fair as i hadnt cleaned half the track yet so i was suprised it ran as smoothly as it did as half the track is as it was when it was took up about 6 years ago.
Awesome! I am building a similar set-up and watched few vids and I saw that they added decomposed granite or some sort of small rocks on the tracks, Is it necessary or purely aesthetics? Thanks!
it depends on your track bed i suppose most of mine is on timber base so i just nailed it down but if your putting your layout ontop of gravel or concrete then i suppose a suitable stone ballast is ideal to hold the track down like the real thing, thanks for watching, Tom
I had to build a enclosure around my pond with the train running around it. The enclosure was to keep all the critters out. The screen did not work for me. The pond shows up in video 72
thanks, ive been lucky so far with herons and cats the nets more to stop the fish jumping out which my golden orfes sadly decided to do one day, i like your railway its on a massive scale compared to mine.

Very nice, good job. Enjoy.
Thanks, it kept me busy during the first lockdown, I'll have to do an update on it when the weather gets better
Really nice work. The pond adds so much. Thank you

Excellent video, wish my garden railway around my pond was more like yours, mine is O gauge though and not G scale, thanks for sharing 👍

Super.
Thank you glad you like it
If you were to put a company name on your locomotives I would suggest S.G.S.R
(Stands for Small G Scale Railway)
sounds good am really going to have to start naming the garden railway and the station, thanks for watching. Tom

Lilypad & Pond Railway (L&PR)
nice idea, i really need to write down the suggestions and name the layout especially now ive extended it, thanks for watching. Tom
