As a retired combat vet, if you see an army recruiter turn around & run for the hils🏃‍♂💨. There's a reason why most don't go pass their 1st contract, there's a reason why less than 10% of soldiers do 20 yrs.

The look in Sullivan's eyes says it all. Military recruiters are salesmen, plain and simple. They get paid based on their performance as a recruiter. A good recruiter stays a recruiter instead of being shipped off overseas to partake in some pointless conflict that doesn't advance our national interest.
Kudos to anyone who wishes to sign up for the military, but they need to understand that recruiters are not their friend.

😂 people are seeing the crap enlisted have to deal with and people are seeing that and saying fck that. Moldy barracks, shitty infrastructure, toxic leadership (if your unlucky), you have to fight for disability when you get out, mental health hard to get since you have to either wait a prolonged period of time or are worried it will effect your security clearance, subject to UCMJ after 20 year retirement, shit pay. These are some of the things newer generations are seeing and they have alternatives that sound better to them cause they don’t have to give so much up, if it’s legal in their state they can smoke weed without worry (varies on job requirements), if they can’t stand their the job or their coworkers they can quit or move to a different location.

Military recruiters SHOULDN'T be allowed in schools.
We have a strictly volunteer force. Anyone looking to join the armed forces will seek out a recruitment center. There's no reason for recruiters to be hocking the "benefits" of a military career.

For anything other than the outcome they desire at all times, be maintained for any reason. No one is above serving their nation. Vast studies show the social mobility that it gives people who dont come from a wealthy background. Everyone should have access and knowledge of what can be offered. If no one serves, you wont have a nation. The argument of what wars we fight, etc, is another issue...not the point. Signed a former Special Operator, combat vet, and Doctor.

There's no nation now. We have no manufacturing base. Our infrastructure is rotting away. Education is garbage.
Corporations that should've failed get billions in taxpayer-funded bailouts without their consent. In return, the populace gets a mismanaged company that unleashes overpriced poor quality products onto the economy.
Not to mention, the average citizen has no say in the country, yet are being forced to conform to the ideals of the government and/or populace.

It appears that there may be certain educational institutions fostering a negative sentiment towards America among our youth. This lack of pride in their own country raises concerns about their willingness to contribute to its progress. It is disheartening to note that only 16% of Generation Z express pride in being American, especially when compared to the significantly higher 92% of Chinese youth expressing pride in China. Such stark contrasts are not coincidental, but rather deliberate.

Im 57 years old, retired Air Force and feel the last generation of parents failed the eligible recruits by lowering standards and by accepting mediocrity. It poisoned this generation. Why would they give up their "entitled" status to conformity even with the lowering of standards and maximum age changes to increase recruitment? I grew up in a time when we learned to tie shoes before kindergarten rather than resorting to velcro. We knew how to read a tape measure and tell time on an analog clock. We signed paychecks in cursive. We knew what spackling was by 8. We had pick up games and didn't rely on parents to drive us to practice...we ran there. Not everyone received a trophy and we kept score! We knew how to give change back when someone gave us a few cents over. We played outside and drank from hoses. We actually had to have the courage to talk to girls rather than make up a fake social media account and hide behind words. We earned enough money to buy a beater car and were proud to have it. We weren't handed a new car at graduation. We knew what patriotism was at an early age and many of us served for that reason alone to preserve and protect the right for this generation to have the creature comforts they enjoy. And we adapted quickly to technology and still outwork this generation! Tough love and a competitive spirit fosters teamwork and good morale. We need to stop the weak ass excuses and be real parents and mentors! We have only ourselves to blame for this predictable outcome!

The ones that are more capable than the rest usually have other opportunities as well. Another important factor is that the US spent 20 years in Afghanistan and 8 years in Iraq with nothing to show for it. And now the treatment of veterans by government institutions is made more public and this will discourage people even more.

    • @delanorrosey4730

The world you grew up in is completely different than the world of today.
You can't even chat up a girl without her calling the police and having you arrested and imprisoned on trumped up charges without evidence and isn't punished for doing so.
Name ONE Senator that was arrested, lost office, and was held to account by the public for corruption or abuse of power or mismanagement of funds. I can guarantee for each name you give, they never had a parking ticket.
My grandparents emigrated to America, fleeing two genocidal dictators of the 20th century. Fast forward to today, I'm absolutely disgusted and repulsed by what this country has shamelessly devolved into.
Despite my best efforts at work and desire to prosper, my peers kept me down for a multitude of reasons. For one, I made them look bad. I shined as labor while they sat behind a desk as a position of management they didn't deserve. As is their kids. Nothing could be done or said about it.
As a cherry to the cake, society endlessly broadcasts that I'm privileged while they demand what they didn't work for. Then when they get it, have the nerve to disparage the country they destroyed without fear of repercussion because any call of scrutiny is squelched with an accusation of prejudice.
As an aside, if the country is forcing me to take up arms and battle to the death the citizens of another country, I demand the knowledge of why I'm doing so. If I have to pull the trigger and end someone else's life as he to me, the both of us are entitled as to the justification. Otherwise, those in charge can do their own dirty work.
