RECRUITING CRISIS: GOP Lawmakers Grill Service Branches Over 'Woke' Perception of Military

- WASHINGTON - The U.S. military is experiencing one of the worst recruiting shortfalls in 50 years. In fiscal year 2023, the military branches collectively missed their recruiting goals by approximately 41,000 recruits.
Earlier this week, representatives from each, testified before the House Armed Services Committee about the underlying causes behind the shortfall.
"Thirty years ago when I was in high school, 40 percent of youth had a parent that served, but today, that number is under 13 percent," said Alex Wagner, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Manpower and Reserve Affairs.

You enlist, then just as soon as you get off the bus, you're told that you could go to prison for violating someone's pritected gender status. I would never salute a fake woman, nor identify anyone other than their actual gender and would without reservation, accept prison and a dishonorable discharge to not play this game.
People must reject the wrong and be willing to segregate from it, boycott it and provide aid to those who are fighting against it.
I mean, I understand your initial concerns, I guess I have just met and dated military men and there are many in my own family, but their issues hardly surround how they may identify an individual like that. I'm not married yet, but hope to be a traditional wife to a good husband someday, and I guess my only concern as a conservative christian woman about all of this was that masculine men in general would somehow be "eradicated", especially lately with all of the social politics right now, but I honestly just haven't run into that type much in my day to day life. I just feel like we see stories about it more online and think it is a real epidemic of sorts. Thank you for your service by the way 👋

No one has been sent to prison for that, nor have you ever heard that from anyone.
I am retired military. I have always advised any young person to join the military until the past two years. I now have three grandsons and if things don't change, I will advise them to stay out of the military.
Retired Army, both military and civilian. I would counsel any young person today not to join as well. Absolutely heartbreaking to see what's happening to our once beloved military.
As our once honorable and majestic country implodes around us, we cannot hope in man for our deliverance from this mess that we as a nation have put ourselves in. The Lord has provided His deliverance to me over the years, and I continue to trust in Him going forward. Every day has its challenges, but the Lord has been there for me through all of them.

I am from a military family. My grandfather, father, uncles and son all served in the Army or Marines. I cannot and will not encourage my grandchildren to serve in the military. The WOKE military is why

Many people seen what their relatives went through with all of the horrible deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan in the past 20 years. I do not recommend anyone to join!! Poor treatment and toxic leaders!

So the Air Force had to lower the bar to meet recruitment goals. Goes hand in hand with the same effect of wokeness.

I’m in the Army, been in for 18 years, and have worked as a recruiter.
The poll that shows that the military is “too woke” is accurate so many people within the military feel this way… and the people that actually get others people to think about the military on a large scale, are not recruiters but other people in the military that talk about their experience to friends and family.
The only way to turn this perception around would be to take a hard stance against liberal ideology and make an aggressive marketing campaign where they clearly state they want a strong force free from liberal ideology and apologize white people to overcome how bad they ignore their contributions to the force. Literally every other nationality gets special recognition but anything white is Ignored.
I concur with this statement and would add that military leadership would need to honor their oaths to protect their country from even foreign ideas outside the Constitution like wokeness.
Thank you for your service. Data from polls are very misleading because sampling issues, and most national level surveys simply don't capture these kinds of issues the military is facing. So, these poll results mostly like come from biased small samples, which shouldn't be taken at face value.
But the real issue here is how the communist woke ideology has penetrated almost all levels of US society including school, military, and everywhere else, but most Americans are still clueless about it. They fail to understand how this DEI and diversity race/gender ideology are related to communism and what kind of devasting effect it will have on our society as a whole.
For one thing, DEI will discriminate against Whites, Asians, or any unfavored group even though they are way more highly qualified for the jobs. But, as you can see, this DEI and diversity hiring are being enforced at all federal level and military, so we no longer have a meritocratic system to select the best for the job, but instead having a dark skin color and non-binary sexual preference are being preferred over the underlying merits and qualifications! DEI must end! Communis is all about power and control!

What this fails to consider is what has been blatantly stated time and again, this country isn’t for white people anymore. In 1992 the non Hispanic white population was 74.6%. In 2022 it was 58.9, an average decline of 0.52% a year for 30 years. They are the only group to be declining. In 2018 the non Hispanic white average age is 58. For Hispanics, it’s 11.
It is not just the military.
1-First and foremost, schools do not teach individuals to be proud to be an American. I'm an immigrant, I'm glad I'm here. The same cannot be said for most of my classmates when I was in highschool. So the first blame, is fully on school boards and SOME teachers. By some, it is quite a few since I used to be a teacher.
2-WE do not have a draft meaning the military as time goes by has to get out of the idea of treating the military as JUST public servant role. In others words, it must be treated partially a business, mercenary work, security doesn't matter. NOT everyone joining wants to serve, some do it for the benefits, for patriotism, because its family tradition, or purely because they are broke and its the best alternative. The fact the military assumes that EVERYONE does so because they bleed red white and blue is misleading. Those rising to the top should be patriotic, but to attract individuals you must have incentives comparable to the private sector. Whether it is in pay or others.
Simplest thing would be to excempt all military service members from federal taxes, only. That is an easy nor bureaucratic method to increase pay. Regardless of the option, higher attraction due to higher benefits must reflect thigns.
3- Attrition, attractive individuals is expensive compared to retaining them and spreading word of mouth. It is the word of mouth of MOST of those in, NOT minority you must appeal to. Who is the biggest demographic in your military, appeal to them. They will spread the word that its worth to join, and more so will remain inside. Retaining bonuses aren't the answer. Its the treatment and I don't mean the yelling or lackthere of. Are facilities nice, is the work environment friendly TO THE DOMINANT demographic.
example, dedicating a whole month to pride month, and a single day to independence day or veterans day and extrapolate that inside the work place and you have more issues with attrition. Again, appeal to your largest demographic... the military for all intends and purposes is a fraternity, its an ugly business sometimes, and others is just annoying. If you punish that institution individuals are not going to want to stay, let along spread the good word.

That's a good point. I could understand in cases if one is some hardcore drug addict, but I have always felt thaf it was unfair that so many otherwise good and hardworking individuals cannot qualify for a basic steady job for something as trivial as having marijuana in thier system.

Several yrs ago. I saw a meeting of high level service members. All gay. Thats what they were meeting about. Celebrating. It was hotel conference room. Probably 300. All dressed in uniforms. Older. In shape. High in rank. I said wow.

I personally wish I could go back into the military. There are simply no other institutions that provide the training, educational, life-benefit and career opportunities that a military career, even for 5 or 6 years, can provide. And that golden, early retirement paycheck at 20 years, which passes in the blink of an eye, is unparalleled in our world, especially with all the fore going and follow-on benefits such as permanent healthcare, universal access to on-base resources such as gyms, shopping and u.s. postal service, from anywhere in the world.
Plenty of people try but it’s up to the doctors and who knows who’s opinion. It’s really a waste of time to try to join.
It is also perhaps one of the only career fields where you will continue to move forward, despite some occasional bumps in the road, by consistently applying the principals of decent, honorable leadership and service. Unique in our world, I fear.
