I just saw Lucinda at the Orpheum. She told beautiful stories from her childhood, Grandma's fig biscuits and Dad's poetry. Her best song was Dust. I planned ahead, lots of Kleenex, but I still ran out. Crackerjack band, especially the guy from Alaska. Carl Perkins sounded like that. I❤Lucinda.
Lucinda is a gem of a person. I met her at the Fillmore in Sf who she was opening for Cowboy Junkies. She was selling ehe cassette of her first release. I told her how good she was and she talked to me for awhile and gave me a signed cassette. I love those days when you could just meet an artist and talk with them. She is really a super cool human.
She's stunningly normal from my time meeting her. I'm sure they're people out there who met her before sobriety and might disagree. But regardless, her music is a treasure. Her with Buick 6 is a must see live.
I heard "I Lost It" playing as the muzak in a ladies room in a truckstop in the middle of Connecticut, looked up the lyrics, and became a stone-cold fan overnight. Kinda iconic way to be introduced to Lucinda's genius!
Lucinda if you read comments I just want to tell you I ve been listening to you and you great music and song writing what I appreciate most is . your true blue spirit with so much bologna in the world I thank you for sharing your self in your art you make me want to be so truthfull I mean so what if the ears can't stand to hear Truth but at the same time so gracefull I love you say one for me I appreciate the realness of YOU YOUR BEAUTIFULL . and so blessed bye now Louisiana here
I just binged her memoir on Audible. I did not realize what a difficult and troubled family history she had and how deep it went as well as her own struggles in life. I guess I should have assumed there were some. It makes me respect Lucinda for the American treasure she is. She's absolutely the genuine article. She also recently recovered from a stroke and seeing her here and reading the memoir (it's narrated by her on Audible) and all, I'm reminded of her frailty as well as her grit.
she is tremendous. after years and years of devouring ghosts of highway 20, passionate kisses, and down where the spirit meets the bone, I finally started listening to some of her earlier stuff. happy woman blues has been playing on repeat for days now. love following her trajectory as an artist and she never disappoints.
Her book just arrived in my mailbox and I can’t wait to dive into it!! I’m a huge, huge fan. Lucinda writes the most beautiful lyrics that stay with you for days. I’ll never forget seeing her at the Winnipeg Folk Festival a few years ago and unfortunately for Lucinda she swallowed a bug while singing on stage at dusk. I felt so sorry for her but she took it in stride! Love you Lucinda!
Just saw her at the Waterfront Blues Festival in Portland Oregon July 5th. 2nd time seeing her. Her guitar playing days have past. Her singing and writing are solid and a true treasure.
I’m lucky enough to have seen her in concert twice, most recently last fall. Big fan for many years, but I hadn’t heard about her having a stroke. Even though she couldn’t play guitar at the show, her voice was fantastic and the concert was an amazing treat with her singing and her stories. I’m reading the memoir now and it’s quite a story.
Lucinda is so low-key funny! She happens to share a birthday with Jesse Malin, the NYC rocker she mentioned. I know this because they both also share my birthday
Lucinda Williams is a great writer… some beautiful music 🎶… she had been sick for a while… glad she has been able to recover and write not only a book… but also a new album…🎶… much Love ❤️ to Lucinda…💐
Seth was terrific with her. Saw her for the 5th time tonight in Albany and she was great as always. Buick 6 were awesome. Fortunate to meet her after a show in ithaca and such a gracious woman!
AAA industry leader 88.5 WXPN has been playing Lucinda Williams since at least 1988 w/her self titled Rough Trade debut. Still have that CS tape from Tower Records & 1992's follow-up, 'Sweet Old World' (Chameleon). Played their Singer Songwriter Weekend back-in-the-day. Even performed 2022's three day XPoNential Music Festival at Wiggins Park. A charming, delightful national treasure & then some. Protect Lucinda Williams at all costs! 💞
❤I love Lucinda! Thank you for this. "2 Kool 2 Be 4-Gotten", is an all-time favorite, yet so many gems throughout her career so far, keep going, memoir should be a great read!
I used to write "Is GOD The Answer? YES" on bathroom walls in bars and was always fascinated by how quickly it would be covered or removed while the "naughty stuff" went untouched.
I love Lucinda Williams. She is the only country music listen to. I understand she is considered alt-country/rock. She preaches love, equality, and has the talent and soul in her music to back it up. I find her voice very comforting.
I LOVE LUCINDA WILLIAMS...I LISTEN TO HER ALBUMS ON ALL ROAD TRIPS. MY LITTLE DOG HAS SOME ANXIETY ON ROAD TRIPS, BUT RELAXES WHEN I START PLAYING LUCINDA... THANK YOU LUCINDA.... WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH.
I was very late to becoming a fan of hers. But then I realized I had heard her music without having a name put to it. The only song I could name was Righteously. I was on vacation and saw her headlining a music festival in Billings Montana. Los Lobos played right before her. I had a connection with LL and possessed a total access pass. Stage access. I briefly met her just before she took the stage. She opened with Righteously and proceeded to kick ass. Her band is awesome. I watched the first few songs from next to the soundboard next to the stage before going out in the crowd. It blows my mind that I met her, however briefly, before I ever saw her perform. Then was able to go backstage after she kicked ass on stage. No way she remembers the brief conversation we had after the show, but I won't forget it. And I would give anything to have seen the face of her book publisher when she handed in a hand written memoir. She is a one of a kind.
If only he could get through a monologue without throwing Trump in our faces. When he was president, over half the jokes were about him, and it's not much better now.
I thought the opposite. I love Lu but American chat show interviewers could not possibly be more sycophantic, could they? Threequarters of the interview is him. Let your guest talk, please
One of my top five musicians of all times. Her first album, Lucinda Williams, doesn't have a single bad song. And her band is so tight and brilliant. I've seen her live a couple times, and both were some of the best performances I've ever seen. I just love her as a person too. Anyone who hasn't heard her , go get her first album or one of her later which got more gritty and bluesy. Her song with Elvis Costello is one of the funniest songs I've ever heard.
OMG I can't believe it's my favorite singer songwriter musician of all time!!!! I've had "Car Wheels" in my car on replay for years. "Can't Let Go" is one of my faves. Seth showed his chops as a sensitive interviewer here.
Great interview. Lucinda's take with Dan Penn on "Dedicated To The I Love" is really fine on the 5 Royales tribute led by Steve Cropper (the record is named "Dedicated").
I read about Car Wheels on a Gravel Road when it came out and sought it. I believe at that time, or shortly after, I stumbled across Happy Woman Blues and a couple other early albums. I was very impressed with her cover of Memphis Minnie.
I've been listening to her read her book on tape (Audible) and I highly recommend it. I'm looking forward to seeing her in concert at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center. She's a strong and wonderful woman!
Thank god they finally made All-American Girls in Heat Part II. There were so many unanswered questions left open in All-American Girls in Heat Part I.
Around 1991 I was dumped by Carol Conragan on Martha's Vineyard. I was so depressed having to return to 100 degree Dorchester, MA alone. My aunts prescribed P.G. Wodehouse which made me laugh in spite of myself. From there I got a job on the 'Journal of Philosophy and Social Criticism' at Boston College under Professor Rasmussen. My job was to type manuscripts from all over the world onto disc so Professor Rasmussen could edit them. I started by keeping my fingers in home position and not moving a finger until I could remember where it was. Look at me now! Read some great manuscripts before anyone else in the world. A blessing like you Lucinda. Passionate kisses for you. Arthur
Her memoir is so good, she’s a great writer, I loved it so much. I seriously want to write my book soon. I protested in 1968-1972, against Viet Nam, I campaigned against Nixon, my best friend and I worked the phone lines, door to door.
Lu is truly a National Treasure. Her 3 Grammy wins were in different genres: Rock, Folk, and Country (don't know of anyone else who's done that). I had the great fortune to be at her wedding at First Avenue and also got to perform with her on the Outlaw Country Cruise as part of a Squidbillies table read (I played the sheriff). She's a sweet heart!!
@@jancollins3464 Good to know, thanks. I've only seen her in person once, and that was way back in the '90s. I guess I never picked up on that ... or I'm just too old to remember. :)

It's one of THE all time great albums.

That's the song that hooked me also, have seen twice live in Florida, wanna hear somewhere in Louisiana, someday
Love that Seth gave her the space to be herself. Lucinda is an absolute treasure.
That’s absolutely what he did not do!
@@colstoncrawford6135I beg your pardon SIR. Where did my man Seth mess up? He let her talk he didn’t mock her and he asked questions others will not.
Probably referring to their respective body positions, he leaning toward her and she leaning away.
Let's enjoy her while we have her.

Please young audiences interested in music, listen to Lucinda Williams, her lyrics are sooo good!
Lucinda Williams is one of my all time favorite performers and people. She is just herself and she's AWESOME!!!!!!!

Seth knows how to treat a legend like Lu! She is so honest and true! Have always loved her!
One of the greatest singer-songwriters ever.
Absolutely!
She looks great! Especially after suffering a stroke. She is such a special performer.
I've never heard a Lucinda song I didn't like. 😍
I don't know anybody else that could have carried off the sweetness and gravity of this interview.
Sweet old World ...is sublime
Always had a crush on Lucinda, what a voice, and when she sings from the heart, lordy, I'm ready to come home! ✌🇦🇺

Just saw her at the Waterfront Blues Festival in Portland Oregon July 5th. 2nd time seeing her. Her guitar playing days have past. Her singing and writing are solid and a true treasure.
Someone once described her singing voice as, "the intoxicating intersection of whisky with barbed wire".
"someone" clever way to make people care about your opinion i guess lol

The one and only Lucinda Williams. Humble, humorous, brilliant.
She is one of my favorites. And that's a book I will be reading and I don't read just anybody's memoir. She looks gorgeous 2. Great to see her! ❤
One of the greatest rockers of all time!
Drove 315 miles Roch NY to Allentown to see her on a Friday night.
Lucinda's the best and I could never pick a favorite song. It's all good from earliest to latest.
Her early stuff is great, but her voice on her recent releases is my favorite--like fine wine.
