  • Building my dust collection system part.
I'm using an extraction unit which I bought on a car boot sale for £10. Seems to be powerful enough for the job. Also decided to make my own filters from fibre cloth and metal mesh, left over OSB and MDF. Will see If is going to actually work or not.

Looks great - benefit of the slightly smaller blower like that is it isn't massively noisey and fairly cheap to buy used. You could even add a second one when you add more machines etc. Looking forward to the rest of the build...

I'm still amaze how you turn this horse shed into the workshop. I think this is blower from bouncy castle or something similar. Good luck.

What tablesaw do you have? Looks like a nice one with cast iron top but doesn't take up alot of room.

Why didn't you remove the wire mesh on the blower intake before installing the 100mm pipe? If you use this with your thickness planer, the shavings will not go through and block the blower.

hello, szép munka. azt meg tudnád mondani mi a neve vagy típusa annak az anyagnak amit a szűrőhöz használsz? nem a mikroszálas kendőre gondolok, a másikra. előre is köszi.

You will have to clean that wire mesh cover on the impeller input regularly....

Looks great, but you need a dust separator. You'll be clogging your filters in no time. Suggest you look at DYI cyclone units on UA-cam

Hey Szilard, how well have the home made filters held up?

That grill on the blower severely restricts your airflow. You will get much better performance if you remove and install something like a simple cross. Similarly, I would remove the grill from the air inflow and replace with a cross. Also if you can place the DC & Filter outside your workshop would be ideal

Beat me to it, but Barry's right, they are for inflating bouncy castles

static will not mess with the rcd. I would wrap a bare wire (like cheap galvanized steel wire) to the outside of the pvc piping and connect that to the metal part of the blower. this way any static will be directed to earth where it belongs.
